Late Night Mikayuu #4 Should It Happen Part 1
This had been deemed on short notice by Yuu’s classmate Shinoa, he would be going to the movies with Mikaela Shindo. He hadn’t spoken to him in over a week and refused to answer his calls or texts. I mean it wasn’t like he was his girlfriend or something. Shinoa being the stubborn little shorty she is had to go and get them movie tickets. It hadn’t occurred to him until this moment what the movie was.
“Eh!?!” Yuu exclaimed.
“Yuu-chan, what’s wrong?” Mikaela asked.
“You tell me what’s wrong with this, Mika!” Damn. Yuu had forgotten he wasn’t going to speak to him the whole time.
“Oh you’re finally speaking! Good!” Mika responded as he smiled. He bent over to look at the movie tickets in Yuu’s hand.
“Fifty Shades of Gay?” Mika peered over his shoulder and stated.
“Yeah! Fifty shades of gay! We are not seeing this together!”
“I think the premise sounds pretty interesting. I mean I’ve seen the trailers.”
Yuu looked dumbfounded.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. You want to see this thing?”
“Well it is 2k16 Yuu-chan”
“So?”
“What do you mean so!?! We’re both guys!!”
Mika felt a lump rise in his throat, that kind of hurt.
“Even so, we have the tickets. If you don’t like it that’s fine, we can leave, but let’s at least try it out.”
Yuu felt heat rise to his cheeks. This was not a good situation, he knew his blushing was all too noticeable.
“Fine.” He spoke walking in the direction of the theater.

The seats had never felt so uncomfortable, there were guys and girls everywhere in pairs or groups and the obvious gay couple sitting next to them made Yuu feel even more strange.
The lights dimmed and Mika let out a sigh sitting to the right side of Yuu. Mika saw this as an opportunity but he felt forceful.
The last week had been awful. Yuu wouldn’t answer him at all and he barely saw him at school. And all over some stupid argument. Shinoa had sat down with them and the rest of the group at lunch the day before it happened.
“Hi Yuu-san!” She had said placing herself next to him. Mika sat on the other side of the table next to Mitsuba and Yoichi.
“What’d you get for lunch this time?” She said leaning into Yuu.
Mika looked away annoyed.
“Why does it matter to you? And what about you? You probably got milk considering your height, right?” Yuu retorted.
Mika grunted quietly.
“I’m still growing, and it doesn’t much matter anyway because I know you’re still growing too.” At that point she specifically looked downward.
“Stop.” Said Mika.
“Oooooo” Shinoa said after a long pause. “I think I know what’s going on here!”
Mika had blushed softly. “It’s nothing, you’re just being annoying.”
“That’s not all though is it?” Kimizuki and the others looked up with their eyes turning towards Mika.
“It’s-”
“What are you denying it for? You know it’ll come out eventually.”
“Please just stop.” Mika once again retorted.
“It’s not too long before everyone knows” she sang in a sing-songy voice.
“Shut up!” Mika finally let out. He got up and left the cafeteria. Standing outside his shoe locker then he rested his head on the shelf. He heard distant footsteps from down the hallway. They gradually became closer and stopped a few feet away from his body.
Mika turned his head slightly to see Yuu-chan standing near him with a concerned look on his face.
“Ne Mika?”
Mika’s face turned a soft rose. Hearing his name come from his mouth made his heart beat faster.
“Mika..what happened? Shinoa isn’t telling me anything and the others are clueless.”
“Nothing happened.”
“Obviously something happened or we wouldn’t be standing here.”
Mika clenched his teeth.
“It’s nothing I swear.”
“Mika why were they talking like that?”
“Like what?”
“Like you had a secret or something”
“I don’t have a secret.” His face gradually became more red.
“Mika.”
“Stop acting like I’m hiding something!” He became louder desperately.
“I’m just trying to hel-”
“You’re not!! Stop asking me questions! Just stop talking to me!”
There was a dead silence. The footsteps that had once came closer began to fade back where they came from.
“Wait- Yuu-chan”
His eyes began to well with tears. “Why can’t it just be easier…why can’t it just be easier to love you?”
“Ne Mika! This movie is weird!”
Mika was taken back into reality.
“I don’t like it!”
Mika knew then, a movie wasn’t going to change things.
“Mikaaaaaaa”
Mika stood up abruptly and grabbed his wrist.
“Let’s go.”
Mikaela Shindo’s house wasn’t far from here, but that’s about as much as he had planned.
There would be more than just a movie.

When I read books I find it easier to imagine what the female characters look like than what the male characters look like. I have a clear picture in my head about how beautiful this girl is, but when a guy is described as “attractive” I can’t really imagine his face. Maybe the book needs to be more specific?
