Most Artifacts generate radiation, their radiation appears to be powerful as it could penetrate the radiation protection from any armor. The radiation though appears to only irradiate when placed very close to the body, placing them inside their back-packs or being near them does not seem to irradiate the carrier.

Duty is at odds with everyone seeking to exploit the Zone and, as Duty sees it, spread its corruption. They opt for the complete destruction of the Zone through brute force, effectively attempting to "kill" the Zone. They are contrasted by other factions, such as Freedom or the Ecologists, who see the Zone as a miracle. They tolerate Loners, but are hostile towards Freedom faction members, seeking to undermine their efforts at every step.

One of the first factions established in the Zone, Clear Sky was dedicated to researching the Zone and learning its inner workings, and are not averse to hiring mercenaries to perform missions, much like the Ecologists faction.

However, unlike the Ecologists, they are more than willing to resort to violence to get their way, and are as fiercely protective of the Zone as Freedom, or even the Monolith.
