mssv, my band with Stephen Hodges and mike watt, has a new song out today called “Even So” and it’s half (1/2!) of a brand new 7” vinyl release, split with our friends Thousand Dollar Movie, out now on Four Finger Records! Very Limited edition pressing available from their Bandcamp page, and digital available on all your streamers everywhere too if you’re into that kinda thing… Here’s what my buddy Jeremy Radio from Thousand Dollar Movie has to say about it:

“Hey. Jeremy Radio from Thousand Dollar Movie here. We got to open up for mssv (Mike Baggetta, Stephen Hodges, mike watt) a couple of times and it went really well. Both bands aren’t afraid of loud or quiet or improv and I thought it made for a really interesting gig. I asked Baggetta if he’d be into doing a split 7” and he was down but felt we needed a theme. I sent over our song Block Out The Sun and told him a bit about where it was coming from, dealing with grief and the weight of that but trying to look forward with some hope. He wrote Even So based on that, actually using the same harmony and chords from Block Out The Sun! Studios got booked in Charlotte and San Pedro, and the result is a really cool split with a great story, heart, and musical moments, from the spacey cinematic builds of Thousand Dollar Movie to the post-genre guitar of Baggetta with the iconic rhythm section work of Hodges and watt.”

BIG news here! I get to do a duo tour in the US with one of my all-time favorite musicians: Peter DiStefano from Porno For Pyros. I can't really tell you all how much he has had an influence on me in music and life, but I *can* tell you that we are psyched to take our new music on the road for you all this summer and fall. Expect improvised Punk Jazz music for 2 electric guitars, electronics and maybe some vocals. There will be some cool merch at the shows AND updated ticket links on the SHOWS page, so please come out and say "hey!" - BIG thanks!

The 3rd and final mssv lockdown 7" limited release is available TODAY, 4 March) on Striped Light Records out of Knoxville, TN. Conceived and recorded separately during the 2020 lockdown -mssv Meets Nels Cline- features 2 brand new songs (1 by Baggetta &1 by Nels) and they both feature mssv's friend and guitar wizard Nels Cline with the band. This limited edition vinyl release comes with handmade packaging and handset letterpress design by Bryan Baker of Stukenborg Press, as well as an assortment of special prints with text (poems?) from one of the members of the band. Which print will you get? No one knows! ...but there are 50 Deluxe kits that come with all 4 prints though... These will probably go fast so check it on the mssv Bandcamp page ... (though we'll also have a -very limited amount- to sell on tour at shows)
