I wrote this out in February of 2022, and it’s been sitting in my drafts for a while:

There's a part of petscop that speaks to a lived reality i've endured and it is petscop's depiction of death and grief. Grief makes people do crazy things. Rainer makes parts of the game out of his grief for mike. Jill and the family are probably driven by some extent to have paul play petscop because playing it directly is to painful to do with the loss of rainer. people can die twice. Rainer's implied to have died on christmas in 1997 and 2000 the dead can be still alive and well. it all just depends on your perspective.
