apparently mike wearing sunglasses and dressing the way he does (and argyle pointing out that his shirt is a knockoff) is an indication that he's hiding and not being himself. the scene is literally poking fun at mike for going overboard and acting like a tourist lmao.

then this person goes on to make the following comparison:

we aren't going to get into the politics of harry potter in 2025, but some of you really need to get it through your head that mike and el are already together. the better comparison here would have been how popular your ship and harry/hermione is in fandom culture despite the two ships not ever happening.

this fuckass painting. i love how it's not ever even confirmed as a romantic gesture from will. it's a painting of the party that he made for his friend who is dating his new sister. he brought it to the airport where she was also going to be. why would he plan to give mike something that was meant to be romantic right in front of el? el is the one who thinks it's supposed to be for someone will likes. it's just another hint to the audience that will has feelings for mike.

now, thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about mike and will and this airport scene. i think it's pretty hilarious that people want to say mike and will are awkward with each other here because they have feelings for each other. that's part of it for will, sure. but for mike, this is a guy who is supposed to be his best friend who has made very minimal effort to keep in contact with him since moving.

and if i were mike, and someone i considered my best friend a. called my girlfriend "some stupid girl", b. told me i was ruining our party, and then c. made no effort on their part to keep in contact, i would absolutely be returning that energy. i personally don't think they ever fully made up from their season 3 fight until their talk in 4x04. so, yes, the fact that they haven't seen each other and have barely talked since the move is very much reason enough for things to be as awkward as they were.

there's no jealousy over 'angela', or whoever the painting is supposed to be for. mike feels disconnected from will because they've barely been in contact, and this is will continuing to push him away instead of reaching out and trying to rebuild their fractured friendship.

this right here tells me that you actually pay absolutely zero attention to the show.

i know you're only focused on will and the way el reacts to the 'from mike' but literally everything else about the scene is screaming at you that mike pays attention to her and loves her so much even if he has trouble actually saying it in those words.

el tells him in her letter that she misses the spring flowers, so he brings flowers with him all the way from hawkins to lenora. this is a romantic gesture. since i know you didn't pay attention, here's what mike says about them:

"it's a gift. i, uh-- i handpicked those for you in hawkins. i know you like yellow, but now i'm realizing it's too much yellow. i know you also like purple, so i got purple as well. so i kinda did, like, a 70/30 split kind of thing."

also 'mostly YELLOW Very small blue' when it's literally purple. and yellow and purple are her favorite colors. hence why he is wearing yellow and purple. it's right back around to the whole going overboard thing and mike always doing so much to try and make her happy.

the last section of this post is this person trying their hand at color theory and outfit analyzing when really they're just parroting what other people say and what they want to hear. the blue and yellow thing has never made sense here. i don't know why they've latched onto that so hard.

'when blue meets yellow in the west' was just a part of the russian code from season 3. nothing more to it. and it hasn't been mentioned since. i do find it funny that when it was first being used, finn posted it as a caption to an instagram post where he's wearing a shirt with the poster of the party. where mike and el are wearing blue and yellow and holding hands.

lastly:

it's literally purple.

i'm not doing this to attack anyone, which is why i'm making my own post and have already blocked this person. i'm just so annoyed and i need to put that somewhere. i also think that if they are going to continue to use my gifs like this, i'm perfectly justified in picking apart their post.

just a reminder that you can ship something and have it not go canon. and i know that a lot of these shippers are young and just want the representation, or just want their favorite character to get what they want. but the ones who know better and have created this echo chamber of false hope, who are so so certain the show is going to give them what they want that they shit on and are condescending towards people shipping a canon ship, i genuinely can't wait for you to have to accept that you were always wrong and acted like an ass for no reason.
