If you put on his boots for a second you will understand. His mom, the woman he loves more than anything is dying and he can do nothing. He try to make people see the real threat of the reaper but everyone listen to the shit the council is throwing and not the ones who actually fought against them. And when he finally though he was back on the road to help people (his primary objective in life) cutting a major red sand organganization on the wrecked Citadel, the red tape got the head of it free. And the man who did that was his own father. He knew the man was guilty, he knew what was going on but to gave his son a lesson he let the crap be free. THAT was the last straw. Garuus got to 'chat' with the piece of shit and he told Garrus that the red sand was coming from Omega. Sinse nobody was doing anything he went to cut the root of the problem himself and found that most of the bad things that ended in citadel space were coming from Omega he stay to clean it, and doing it he will help more people than before cutting the bad roots.

Sure he was sad about shep dying, but above all of that he was angry with the injustice. His mom didn't deserve that fate, people didin't deserve to be lied and misguided. And the ones who did deserve punishment weren't getting it. So he become something to fix that.

i think the thing that gets me the most about "garrus went to omega out of grief for shepard" is like. ok well obviously it's pure headcanon and i see why it's popular w the shakarians bc it's angsty and everything BUTTTTT what i just can't get around is that there is absolutely zero indication that garrus sees shepard as anything other than his cool boss that he wants to be more like at that point in time. and also it makes him look insane!!! 😭like omg imagine if he DID actually go to omega bc of shepard. imagine being shepard in that scenario, like he's your friend and all but that's kind of it, and then you find out he did All Of That for You. while your closer friends just grieved normally and moved on. girl....... that's not garrus that's a crazy person
