Today we will take a grain of wisdom from our good friend Jonathan Harker and be freed from the shackles of our own fear.
“I must take action of some sort whilst the courage of the day is upon me.”
“Let me not think of it. Action!”
These words of affirmations helped Jonathan spiritually transform into a spider monkey and virtually paraglide across the exterior of the Count’s Castle.
In Jonathan we believe.

twilight: the vampire uses his supernatural abilities to parkour into the window to watch the mortal sleep
dracula: the mortal uses his supernaturally questionable human strength to parkour across the castle exterior to watch the vampire sleep

This would be infinitely funnier if Jonathan just had a gluten intolerance.
So before even discovering and being tortured by a the count and his vampirism, he first had to discover and be tortured by flour dumplings.
This dish is the famous Paprika Hendl, a Hungarian Stew containing ingredients such as chicken, flour, sour cream, sweet paprika, and onions, and is typically served with flour dumplings. Upon being served this dish in the first entry of the novel, Jonathan notes to himself to ask for the recipe to pass on to Mina.
As appetizing as it may look, my poor friend Jonathan is sick that night and believes the Hendl may be at fault ...

since dracula daily is approaching again I would like to remind everybody that hungarian paprika can cause stomach issues even among people who grew up on it (from personal experience), that's why we eat nearly every national dish with tons of sour cream and bread, which our good english heir was probably not informed of so he's basically destined to have a little bit of diarrhea after shoving down a whole plate of csirkepaprikás. not sure about the queer dreams tho, he should ask the Count about that

dracula lying on the couch flipping through tourist guides to england is so funny. every dracula adaptation should include that scene

An underrated Dracula duo are definitely Quincey and Mina because they are both champions of practicality. They’re both keen observers but Mina writes everything that happens down very carefully, whereas Quincey is a man of action and I think if they’d met earlier, their combined efforts would’ve been absolutely unstoppable. They could open a vampire hunting agency with how efficient they’d be at tracking and killing vampires.

A perfect revenge fantasy that was interpreted by every subsequent adaptation as an enemies to lovers romance between this old aristocratic male creep and our favorite girl boss Mina Harker...
dracula as a revenge fantasy… characters getting to violently murder the man who irrevocably traumatized them… an old aristocratic male creep whose downfall is caused by the woman he assaulted…

If you ever feel bad about long commutes, just know that our good friend and avid adventurer Jonathan Harker settled in for a 4 hour and 45 minute train ride as part of his journey to the Count's castle as these trains could only handle going at 25 miles per hour.

In Jonathan's second diary entry, the old lady (landlord's wife) was rattled by the fact that it was St. George's Eve - this night believed to foster the power of vampires, witches and evil.
If we look at St George's Day itself though, it's interesting that the most familiar tale of this day featured a knight converting thousands to Christianity before slaying a dragon (symbolising the devil).
The cherry on top to this story is that the Romanian translation of 'Dracul' means both dragon and devil ...
