If someone tells you a sad story, you first sit with them, in silence or with loving and caring words. And then you can ask: "see, I have a similar experience, but I don't want you to think that I want to talk about myself when you have these bad things happening. but if you want to hear it, i would gladly tell you how I overcame these situations" and that's it. I do it every single time and no one was angry with me. The problem is when someone tells you that a bad thing happened to them, you jump to your own story before acknowledging their sadness or trauma or loss.

“my teenage child is so selfish” is an interesting thing I only see online moms say about their daughters. I’ve never seen one say it about their son. 1. I put in an Annual Leave request form almost 3 weeks ago and my boss has not approved it yet

2. I went into my office today and replaced every single writing utensil with crayons in preparation for April Fools Day on Monday

3. Whilst searching for pens to remove, I found my unsigned Annual Leave form in my boss’s drawer

4. I placed my unsigned Annual Leave form in a photo frame and put it on his desk

5. The frame I used was from a photo of his kids that I deemed less important than my Leave form

Just like GMO free. There is actual legislations against using GMO in Europe - or at least in Hungary - so everything is GMO free, but it's great advertiesment. Also, breeding and selection, cultivation isn't GMO. GMO is in a lab, changing the actual amino acids connecting to the DNS making different genes, which can be dangerous becuase we have still no clue about how major genes, crossing and genetic linkage works and what results it may offer, what trade-offs there are. Breeding and selection occur naturally over long periods of time via natural and environmental factors or in a shorter period via human activity but it's just putting two genetically better specimen in the same area to reproduce, nothing more.
