Wait no I think I might have did watch it I just didn’t liveblog it because I had to watch it the next week? So here’s that:

Metroplex’s voice acting to Windblade in the void. Comically bad. There’s nothing else for it. It is just bad.

There is LITERALLY a “Remember who you are line” from Metroplex, but they add the word “truly” in the middle like that somehow makes it less Lion King

Anyway Windblade has her little talk with Mufusa, yells alot, Starscream yells alot back but worse, and Metroplex trys to pop Starscream like a zit

NO WAIT, MEGATRON TRANSFORMS INTO A GUN AND OPTIMUS USES HIM, I FEEL LIKE I WOULD HAVE REMEMBERED THAT but I don’t. I thought I remembered windblade in the void, but I don’t remember Megatron gun. His gun design is actually unique and I kinda like it too, its like a laser gun rather than the G1 scoped gun.

Anyway anyway, Optimus shots Starscream with Megatron and they win, Windblade hands the enigma to Victorion and she eats it in her chest. I keep on going back and forth on whether I actually saw this, I think I remember Windblade holding the enigma too…

Regardless, I have seen it all now. Refresher over. It’s time for Titans Return.

Anyway I’m rewatching Combiner Wars to gear up to watch the rest of the Prime Wars Trilogy and

1) it is still so bad. comically bad. horrendously bad. bad.

2) i remember it being bad obviously, but I did NOT remember some of the little fun megop moments sprinkled in there. If this is setting a precedent for the rest of the trilogy (which from what I understand it probably is) I am listening. That the trilogy supposedly gets better and there is allegedly quality megop is why I’m gonna finally watch the rest of the trilogy in the first place.

Teletran popping them in the Dead Universe before they got back that wasnt part of the plan yeah. Are they like on an alternate universe Cybertron or something then. This place is DESOLATE. Why does no one seemed concerned about this.

How does Bumblebee know that Optimus has the Allspark now. Did Optimus get back to the ship already? Doesn’t look like it. Radios are a thing yes but I figured since it seemed like they were not being utilized at all in the allspark glitch forest they were like. Disabled or something.

Anyway that’s a no Optimus is still out there. Ok.

Okay the symbiotic relationship is with the planet. Not the Cybertronians. Makes a bit more sense.

How did the Megatrons escape I thought they got like absorbed in the allspark door or whatever. At least OG megs.

Vaguely recalling this might have something to do with her original BW backstory and how she joined the team late but Lord knows Kingdom will tell us nothing of this

Wow OP really asking the Preds to not rescue their teammate and look for the allspark first instead huh. Bold ask from someone who not only lost it in the first place but did so at the potential expense of their entire planet. Primal right to be pissed off with this guy.

The way Bumblebee has to make the appeal and only after the BW crew mentions they are the last five (six) of TWO HUNDRED GUYS...

Earthrise Ep4

The bot that I was thinking of WASNT Ironhide, Ironhide is on the Ark still in this episode’s opening. WHO IS THAT BOT THAT GOT SLAPPED AROUND. He’s so familiar… I think he was part of the safety team or whatever that becomes a combiner in G1 S3 with Jetfire…  I know him.  

OK I JUST WENT TO TFWIKI AND I THINK MAYBE HE’S “Comms Officer” What the heck. Ten million Autobots out there and you don’t use an existing one… Don’t even name this one….

Optimus’s voice acting again giving Ironhide and Bumblebee angry orders… rough.

Was Megatron jumping to push Optimus away when he shot the bomb to blow up Scorponok or is that just my mepog goggles on too tightly? Also lol at them having their whole dramatic moment while Scorponok was still alive.

Bumblebee saying “Of course [Optimus] is fine, he’s a Prime” MAN they indoctrinated you good didn’t they Bee.

Oh Megatron is impaled I sense a good megop scene coming.

OH OPTIMUS CONFESSING HE WAS WRONG TO MEGATRON!! OH DELICIOUS.

Megatron busting out the “old friend” oh yeah thats the stuff. Him telling Optimus he built his ship with Deception souls too like yesssss air it all out boys, the dying confessional. Love this food.

Megatron saying too that Elita One is dead after saying Optimus sounds like her AND calling her Ariel again oh ho. Earthrise breaking brave new ground by having megop snipe at each other over a woman and me breaking NO new ground by eating it up like a basic bitch.

OPTIMUS WAS GONNA PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE!! God I love this food. (Kinda weirdly wound punch, like oddly slow, but still. Love this food.)

Framing overall is good in this scene, like the show is limited by Optimus not having a face to emote with so they’ve had some good shots of him like clenching his hand slightly and turning his back and crouching and bracing both hands at either side of Meg’s head on the stone behind him to get in Meg’s face and I am feasting thank you.

Also classic stuff where Optimus doesn’t want to let Megatron die and Megatron taunting him for being weak by not just leaving him to death.

OOOOO and then Optimus plays the reverse uno card!!! “Why didn’t you just kill me in that battle back there Megatron huh? You could have gotten the Allspark info some other way yeah? Why didn’t you kill me?”

Optimus says Megatron needs him because having a “villain” helped him rally his Decepticons and up his power. Its not quite an answer to the class justice aspect of the original rebellion but AT LEAST Optimus is finally focusing on calling out Megatron for looking for scapegoats as an excuse for just amassing power. Last season Optimus couldn’t even manage THAT.

Soundwave opens the blast doors in a second when Wheeljack had been struggling to hack them, and I am in AWE at the willpower it must have taken the writers to not shoehorn in another Soundwave superior line.

And then not two seconds later they have Megatron say “I still function” lmao *rolls eyes*

Wait didn’t Bumblebee in episode two when they got captured by the quintesson say he thought they were just a legend or something along those lines but now Megatron is explaining the G1 backstory how they used to be the quintesson’s slaves? what is the truth dot gif. Maybe it’s an age thing? Also possibly another reason why you guys have been at war for (presumably) millions of years JEEZ. Kids read a book.

Look Optimus I 100% understand not leaving Megatron to die when he was impaled but not wanting to blow up the station, which was your plan to get out of there and find the Allspark and save your race, just because Megatron was inside? Stupid. That’s an actual hard choice and he just tries to circumvents it saying “they’ll find another way”. I know its all moot because Starscream shoots at them like two seconds later but I bet ELITA would have thought about it and then tried to go with their original plan. Just saying.

Earthrise Ep3

Optimus finally contemplating the “great harm” he did trying to keep the Allspark away from Megatron. Bumblebee trying to make him feel better with a “you did what you thought was best at the time” hey Bee remember last season when you were selling energon to mercs? r.i.p. your nuance. Optimus straight up says that he made a mistake in leavving with the Allspark though so credit where credit is due I suppose. Also Bee is an Autobot now. How Optimus fucking up convinced him over all else…

Also WHY was Optimus’ voice so off in that opening scene I don’t understand Jake Tillman did all of Cyberverse GREAT. Can WFC please get a sound budget of more than seven dollars and hire a good voice director.

“Is it wise to lead this many Deceptions to the old theatre” omg Jetfire stop they just rescued your ungrateful ass and comparatively you’ve been an Autobot for like a month can you stop trying to throw down and out Deceptions under the bus? You know those bitches that go vegan and then immediately get all sanctimonious about it despite having eaten meat and honey for the past 20+ years of their life? Yeah.

That one bot that I could NOT remember the name of last season got stabbed by Scorponok rip.

Arcee going “I wish Omega was here” reminded me how they already brought up Omega and mentioned him in a earlier ep like “no one has seen him since The Battle of the Spacebridge” like bruh he’s stories high. He just went back to his nap and its like what, he’s got camo on? This is why you guys have been at war for (presumably) millions of years jeez.

I think the stabbed bot was Ironhide actually, only he was in a group shot after being stabbed and standing fine, but then got grabbed by Scorponok AGAIN and thrown against the wall and then Autobots ran out the room and closed the door behind them. Double rip.

I have so little to say this episode in part because I had nothing funny or interesting to note but also in part because I got caught up in watching it. Net good sign I think.

Also why is there this nega looking BB and Wheeljack running around on the merc crew… I actually thought like they were evil possessed Bee and Wheeljack in their first scene last episode for a second.

NOT OPTIMUS TELLING BUMBLEBEE TO STAND DOWN. OPTIMUS CAN YOU DO SOMETHING RIGHT IN YOUR LIFE FOR ONCE PLEASE.

Not Optimus thinking about using the location of the Allspark as a bargaining chip… BRO.

Deadass though can we take a second to talk about how Elita One is on Cybertron and genuinely like struggling as a leader with the looming extinction of their race and hard choices like whether to rescue Deceptions with their limited resources and it for real looking to be the closest the show will get to character arc/growth meanwhile Optimus is still blustering around with full confidence despite fucking everything up and not even KNOWING the extent to which he did so because he doesn’t even know how long they were knocked out. YES YOU ARE SAFE FOR NOW SURE, BUT HAVE YOU SPARED A THOUGHT ABOUT THE REST OF THE AUTOBOTS YOU LEFT BEHIND??  

Oh my God Megatron doing a “join me and together we can rule the galaxy save our race” speech at Elita and he NAME DROPPED HER PRE-WAR NAME?? SAYS OPTIMUS TOOK HER FOR GRANTED AND HE NEVER WOULD??? Oh you’re trying to get me to ship a het aren’t you Earthrise. You cheeky bastard. Baby you’re hitting all the right buttons.

LMFAO at the flashback they have to literally last episode when Elita rescued the guy to remind us who it is that’s rescuing Elita and them now, like the show isn’t confident enough to be sure we could tell all the bots apart.

Ok so Doubledealer and crew come back to help the Autobots escape since Doubledealer was mad they didn’t get paid… what was your plan if they didn’t come to help huh Optimus? What was your plan? I’ll give it to him that I guess it was just the same plan where Wheeljack got the cuffs off and the other Autobots shoot their way out…  probably could have just done that without waiting though. Patience just to stumble into the very lucky happening of Doubledealer helping them.

“[We learned] Megatron hasn’t found the Allspark.” Did he think he was going to follow him and look for it? PERHAPS HE COUDLNT BECAUSE OF THE VERY REAL POSSIBLITY THAT WAS DISCUSSED LAST SEASON THAT THE ALLSPARK GOING OFF WORLD COULD DESTROY CYBERTRON, WHICH YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE AND NEVER ADDRESS. PERHAPS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT.

Optimus gets proven right a minute later though I guess, because the Nemesis project really is just the ship... it really needed thousands of sparks huh. Ok.
