Hello, Tanzblr...
I think I’m dead inside. My precious Helsinki vampires just had their derniere and... I just can’t.
I don’t think I’m even kidding when I say that this production became as close to me as the Viennese revival. And Graf von Vihma shares the first place on my long list of von Krolocks seen on stage together with Drew Sarich. And oh my God those ensemble vampires, I am so done. Even the Hungarian duo would have to watch out for some of these beasts!
And now it’s just all...gone. For good. I doubt there’s any bootlegs out there either, because people just don’t break the rules here in Finland. No one would’ve dared to film anything. So all I have to do is rely on my memory which - as far as human memory goes in general - is bound to forget some of the details I want to remember. And even if I were able to remember it all in perfect detail, I wouldn’t be able to experience it again.
Now there is no Professor Abronsius with jokes specifically made for the Finnish audience, no Graf von Vihma to sing the longest ever note during the Finale of the 1. Akt while at the same time gazing into your soul, no ensemble vampires having a stare competition with you (and all the while flirting with you without shame), nothing. It’s all lost. Poof! Just... like... that.
Fuck.

Oh look! I’m writing about Tanz der Vampire again! Can I just sort of chime in and say that Mikko Vihma is just too good to be true? Holy hell his interpretation hit home with me! Graf von Vihma all the way...
(And this Friday it’s finally time to see Graf von Saari.)

Aye! Agreed. That’s actually a mighty fine summary of his character in general. Worry not! I am well aware that this fandom is able to separate the character from the interpretation. I simply wanted to point out that an annoying character doesn’t necessarily have to have an annoying interpretation on stage as well to work. Like you said, he is meant to be kind of annoying, but too much is just... well, too much.

Help! Pulassa ollaan! Me and my friends are going to see the new Vampyyrien Tanssi at Helsinki, but we can’t decide which cast to choose.
Kreivi von Krolock: Jonas Saari Sarah: Anna Victoria Eriksson                            Alfred: Miiko Toiviainen Abronsius: Tuukka Leppänen                          Chagal: Kari Mattila Magda: Sanna Majuri Rebecca: Leenamari Unho
OR
Kreivi von Krolock: Mikko Vihma                    Sarah: Raili Raitala Alfred: Petrus Kähkönen      Abronsius: Antti Timonen Chagal: Risto Kaskilahti                Magda: Laura Alajääski                                          Rebecca: Leenamari Unho
I’d love to see the show twice but we are too broke to do that. So it has to be just one. What say you fellow tanzfans?

In defense of all the good Chagals out there I must say that if I had to choose, I’d totally be the Magda to Pavletits Béla’s Chagal. He is anything but annoying and don’t even get me started on just how hot he can be when he turns into a vampire. So... just... you know.... to jump in on the conversation and totally miss the actual point of how awesome Graf von Vihma is... Chagal needs some love too! Except the annoying onea. Like Kaskilahti and the one in Seinäjoki, whose name I have blocked off from my consciousness because even Kaskilahti is better.

Michiii! <3 Gorgeous make-up - perhaps I should try this out at some point. Also watch through the whole thing to hear Michi sing a few lines from ToFi.

So, apparently Samuel Harjanne will be playing Herbert in the HKT’s Vampyyrien tanssi. *sigh* For me that means there’s probably nothing to see but... I’ll give him a fair chance.

No, you’re not the only one xD For the past two days the Finnish part of musical twitter has been nothing but moustache jokes. I really like Mikko Vihma and have been thinking that he might make a good Krolock ever since I saw him as Kerchak in Tarzan, but... the ‘stache has to go. Apparently he needs them for a role in Billy Elliot, the musical he is currently playing in, so it is fair to assume this is not how von Krolock will eventually look.

Reblogging for a lot of Ördögölő Józsiás and Bakszén goodness. Thanks for the translation, @carmarthenfan!
carmarthenfan replied to your post:i’ll never be able to unsee Szil as DevilDad it…
Tbf big brother Csumi seems to have turned out in Dad’s model. But I guess Bakszén makes up for it by being the eternal obnoxious teenager.
He had a brother ? My hungarian comprehension is zero.

All the questions and still no answers! I'm curious about Herbie and Koukol too. And Chagall! Let us not forget Chagall! I'm sorry to all who liked the Chagall in Seinis, but for me anything is better than that.
I absolutely love Sarah’s Sharon Tate-esque look
I’m already wondering about the direction and characters. will they take after the Seinäjoki production or the replica productions? is Abronsius going to kick ass? will Rebecca stand out as a poignant character? what will they do with Koukol? what about Herbert?
is that moustache going to stay?
that feeling when you’ve been waiting for another Nordic production of Tanz and it’s a Finnish revival that delivers. norway and sweden pls
what are we going to call this revival? oh the questions
how many tickets can I afford

Yes! This seems to be a completely new production (in Helsinki)! Apparently these are the early promos or something. And it would seem that at least the cast list posted here doesn’t have any other Seinäjoki actors than Raili. But there’s Mikko Vihma (the Krolock in the picture)! He did such a good job as Kerchak in Tarzan that I am intrigued. Also as far as I know, the ‘stache might be there just because he’s still currently playing in Billy Idol and his character has the ‘stace so...perhaps they will shave them away before he has to do the vampire thing?
Also I really like the fact that Jani Uljas is responsible of the sets. I really liked his take on the sets of JCS in Åbo Svenska Teater.

So... Vampyyrien tanssi is coming to Helsinki and now one of the most important questions still remains to be answered: who will be playing the Black Vampire?
I just took a quick tour on HKT’s website and found an image of this lovely gentleman (Unto Nuora). Any chance I might be looking at the Black? Yespleaseprettyplease?

Mahtia! Erttäin mahtia! Toivottavasti pääsen Helsinkiin katsomaan. Sen verta on eeppinen musikaali.

Ouh, you touch my tralalala - Mmh, my ding-ding-dong...
There. That’s my take on this. And I actually really like Mikko Vihma, but... just... *sigh* There’s still time. There is still time to shave. No one panic. Take a deep breath. There’s a lot of good names in there.
