this is a little different kind of post for me, but it needs to be said.

i know people talk all the time about writers leaving tumblr due to low interaction, getting discouraged in that way. and while that is terrible, there are other reasons as well.

the side of tumblr people DON'T talk about is the cattiness between the writers on this app. how is it that i go to click on "bigger" blogs @'s, and for some reason, i'm blocked? (third time this has happened to me btw)

THIS is the side of tumblr that makes some people want to leave. all of these people who you think are amazing writers... only to find out that they are threatened by other fic writers? upset that another person on this app could also do what they do?

if you're not in their 'clique' of people they've already accepted as writers (& bloggers who don't write), they wish you weren't here.

why would any new fic writers want to stay when this is the community that has been created? one where people are quite literally ex-communicated by the fandom's biggest writers because they got some "hit posts" or "reblogs"?

and before y'all ask, yes these are some of your favorite authors, and yes these are the people y'all (even my fav lil mooties) are interracting with every day 🥲 if you see me not interacting w certain accounts, it's not because of me. promise.

there's got to be a better way than this.
