in today's run bts, bh editor called jikook as "sun and moon". as i understand 해달즈 also means sea otters? or is it a different word? anw can u pls tell us how k-army started calling jikook sun and moon and sea otters 🥺 and is it rly significant that bh acknowledged this nickname for them?

Hello anon!

The word 해달즈 is a combination of sun (해) and moon (달) that's been turned into a nickname with the addition of 즈, which makes it plural in a cutesy, konglish way that's a bit tricky to translate. (Their other nickname, 부산즈 "Busans", is another example of this.)

K-Armys started calling Jikook 해달즈 in Festa 2016, where many interpreted the duo's "Coming of Age Ceremony" as Jungkook expressing the sexy charm of the sun and Jimin expressing the sexy charm of the moon.

From then on, K-Armys started noticing sun and moon imagery associated with JK and Jimin, everywhere.

Below are a few screencaps from this video which tracks the start and evolution of the 해달즈 nickname (no subs, unfortunately).

And who can forget the iconic 2020 MMA performance that began with a solar eclipse, followed by Jikook's opening pair dance.

At this point, it's pretty clear that the boys, Big Hit, and the staff at Run BTS are all familiar with this nickname. And especially with the glorious track record of Run's editor and their captions, it doesn't surprise me that they've started calling Jikook 해달즈 directly in the latest episode.

At its core, 해달즈 is a nickname that emphasizes the complimentary nature of Jimin and Jungkook as a pair. The fact that BH acknowledges this and continues to associate them with this fan-made nickname seems to convey their agreement (or at the very least, their approval) with the idea that the bond/chemistry between Jungkook and Jimin is one that is reminiscent of the sun and the moon.

And finally— yes, 해달 is (cutely enough) also the word for sea otters!

What do you think is the most significant Jikook moments from 2012-2015? We always discuss moments from 2016 and onwards most of the time. What are your favourite moments from those 4ish year period. Fetus Jikook we’re adorable.

I will admit I don't know too much about predebut Jikook, other than that JK would help Jimin practice his vocals and teach him what he learned with his voice teacher since Jimin didn't have one. Which is super sweet. But they have always been so close! Some of my favorite moments are...

This was a story told in 2016 during a vlive. But the moment where JK came back from America and told Jimim he wanted to maybe stop idol training and become a professional dancer instead. JM encouraged him to stay and how good his voice was. JK saying that because of JM is why he debuted at all... ugh. My heart. Lets all say thank you jimin for helping JK debut!

Oh and all their logs predebut and right after debut together. So precious. All of them. Jimin saying during one "oh. Why do I like you so much Jungkookie?" And petting his hair. Lol

I don’t think there are many, especially in 2020. 2013/14 probably has the most, for a variety of reasons. I focused on 2013 - 2017, except for one 2018, 2019, and 2020 moment. Brief summery: looks ranking is brought up again (come on interviewers don’t you have anything better to ask?) Jimin instead changes it to a coolness ranking, does up to 5 and asks the fans to choose number 1. Jungkook yells out “Jimin” in response (untranslated, but very distinctive). This was a couple months after 140910 Pops in Seoul Danger Interview when Jungkook says Jimin looks cool and tries the hardest with a wide smile on his face.

Questionable things jikook have used to flirt pt.2

1. Children’s playground items - ok, this isn’t technically flirting, but, come on, baby Jungkook turning into a flying squirrel to show off his spinning super strength to Minnie? I say it counts.

2. Meat - because sharing is caring? As they have proven time and time again.

3. A giant pokeball - Uhm, do you guys perhaps need a moment?

4. Sweat - to quote the great Kim Namjoon: “Though we didn’t ask for it, thank you, anyway, Jimin.” Seriously, his sweat is holy water??

5. A fist - I don’t even know where to start. How JK just patiently waits for the *bump*, or how the rest of the members are just carrying on in the background like there isn’t just a fist kiss happening.
