Summary: you’re left alone at a party whilst your friend is dancing with her other friends. Leehan gives you his company.

It’s been 30 minutes since your friend went off to dance with her other friends. It’s your first party and frankly, having fun would be an understatement. Your friend should have stayed with you, checked up on you, but she didn’t.

“Hey, Jasmine! Where’s Mia?” You asked your friend’s friend. “I’m not too sure honestly, sorry y/n! Try looking on the dance floor! She’s probably there.” She says, giving me a look of encouragement.

You give her a quick smile, followed by a nod and made your way downstairs.

The energy has a huge contrast to what’s going on upstairs. Purple lights, loud music, dancing and couples having the night of their life. You try to calm yourself as the amount of people were slowly becoming overwhelming. This was supposed to be a fun night, but all you’re feeling is out of place.

Bodies pushed against each other making the room humid and warm, music that has been heard at least 100 times. Where is Mia?

As you continue to walk around the room, you finally see her with her other friends. You smile and walk closer to them, you try to dance along with them, but it was hard to when the music was horrible.

After a few minutes, the next song that was played was finally a song you could dance to! You tapped Mia on the shoulder and tried to pull her to dance with you.

“I want to dance with them, hold on.” She says and pulls away to go back with her friends. You stand there in shock. Did she not want to dance with me? She’s only spent like 15 minutes with me this whole night… you think to yourself.

It was very clear something had broke inside of you. Was it your heart? Your spirit? Probably. All you knew was that the best thing to do was to head back upstairs.

Tonight you had felt pretty, beautiful even. The black dress you wore was delicately adorned with white gems in designs of flowers. Hair put into your favorite style and make up as natural as you could make it.

You try to keep a good mood and smile in your face as you pass by others, making your way to the balcony where surprisingly nobody else is currently standing.

The air is wet and cold. But you felt like you could finally breath. Like nobody was expecting anything from you. It was peaceful.

You take in a deep breath and look up into the sky and start to count the stars.

Ever since you were a kid, there was always a connection between you and the stars. Why? Who knows, they captured your attention and that’s all that matters.

Maybe they gave you a sense of escape from reality, knowing they shine through the atmosphere with no worries about anything.

“The night sky is always captivating isn’t it?” You hear a deep voice interrupt your thoughts.

You turn towards the voice. “Yeah, it really is.” You softly and smile.

He smiles back and leans against the balcony railing and looks at you. “I’m Leehan, why are you out here by yourself? Everyone else is dancing or taking photos.” He says and notices the way your smile drops a bit.

You had forgotten why you were out here in the first place. “I’m Y/n. My friend is downstairs doing her own thing. I just wasn’t really feeling it, you know?” You shrug.

He nods. “I came here with some friends too. I had a great time but I decided to just come out here.” He looks at your face. “It’s pretty healing out here” he chuckles.

You give a small smile. “I’m glad you’re having fun.” You nod awkwardly.

He notices. “Have you ever been to a party before?” You shake your head. “It’s my first time going to one actually, it’s been great.” You say softly.

He hums. “Have you tried talking to the people here? I think they’re pretty great.” He points with his thumb gesturing to the party. “I’m pretty shy…I don’t really know how to talk to others without being weird or just standing there awkwardly. That’s kind of the whole reason I’m even out here.” You purse your lips.

“You don’t seem awkward to me.” He says turning fully towards you. “What happened? You don't have to pretend with me.” The expression on his face speaks in volumes. He wants to listen to you. He wants to be there for you.

How can a stranger be so willing to make someone they don’t even know feel better?

“The minute my friend and I got here, she instantly left me to go dance with her other friends. I don’t know anybody here, it’s not that easy to just go up to someone and talk. That’s just not the kind of person I am. I’m shy. I get awkward easily and embarrassed. It’s my first time at a party and I just wanted someone to stay with me. My own friend basically wants nothing to do with me tonight so yeah. I came up here because I feel forgotten, ignored, and like I’m just expected to instantly crack open my shell.” You say with tears blurry your eye sight.

“I hate sounding like a burden, but is it really that hard to include somebody? No, it isn’t.” You wipe your eyes aggressively and feel two hands gently grab your wrists.

“You’re not overreacting, you shouldn’t have been left like that. There’s so many people here yet it can still feel like you’re the only one in the room. I’m sorry this happened to you. This isn’t the way anyone should feel for their first party.” His thumb softly traces your cheek and you feel your heartbeat try to leave your chest.

“If you’ll let me, I’d love to keep you company tonight and show you the best things about a party?” He smiles and you get lost in his eyes. His eyes shine like the stars, they’re so pretty.

“You’re pretty yourself, star.” He says and laughs at your confused face. “Did you just call me pretty?” You smile. He nods. “I appreciate the compliment about my eyes, so of course I had to share what I’ve been thinking too.”

The moment he says that you close your eyes in embarrassment. “Did I really say that out loud? That’s embarrassing..” you cover your face with your hands.

“I think…” he brings your hands back into his. “It’s really cute, just like you star.” He says leaning in to place a kiss on your forehead and drags you around the party. Giving you the company that you deserve.

Warnings - werewolf au, cold!soonyoung, cursing, hoshi using nicknames for his little sister (baby, honey, etc), painfully shy!reader, but also lowkey childish and adorable, angst, age gap, (4years). Hana’s pov

It’s been 2 hours since my brother left. I miss him so much! Who am I going to annoy now? Or…or play games with?

Today I’ve realized how boring it is without hoshi.

Speaking of games… the nice girl Aria offered to play games with me, but I didn’t like the idea of playing with someone else without my brother here. It made me feel bad.

So, I sat on the long rectangle like chair (that’s called a couch… I think.) and watched what they call a ‘show’ on a box called a tv!

The show wasn’t all that good to be honest, a bunch of puppets singing and I was already a bit bored by it.

Who am I kidding? This show is great!

I probably watched about 2 episodes of it until I heard people starting to talk due to someone coming in through the door.

“Josh! Your sisters here!” Said somebody.

The scary guy has a sister? I wonder if she’s my age!

No… maybe?

Joshua came downstairs the greet his sister the same time I turn my head to see who this mystery sister is.

She’s not my age. Should’ve known Hana!

“Y/n? What are you doing here?! How did you even get here?” The boy asked. “I… missed my brother?” The girl said quietly, chuckling nervously.

“Y/n…” he said. Sternly looking at the younger girl.

“Can we just talk about it later? Please.” The girl said looking away from the older boy. “Fine. I want you to meet someone, We have a guest.” Joshua said pointing to Hana.

“Hi! I’m Hana!” The girl said loudly making the girl flinch. “Hello..” the girl said with a small voice.

“I have a brother too! His name is Hoshi!” She said smiling. “How nice… how old are you Hana?” The girl asks. “I’m six years old! Yesterday was my birthday!” Hana says giggling.

“You’re very cute Hana, I can see us being friends..” the girl says looking at Joshua who smiles encouragingly.

“Me too! Wanna watch this show with me?” Hana says turning back to face the Tv with a bounce.

“Sure, sounds amazing”

“Shifts are normally around 8 hours a day, 12 if you do an extra shift.” Aria says.

“I know you wanted to keep as little amount of time away from your sister as possible but this is the best it’s gonna be Soonyoung.” She continued.

“I’m definitely going to hate this but, I really need the money.” I sigh. “When’s the fastest I can start?”

“Well, I can see if I can get you an interview perhaps by Friday, which is in two days so it would be a tight fit but not impossible.” She breaths out. “How about you wait here and I’ll go find my boss so you can chat with him?” She begins walking away before I could answer.

I wonder what Hana’s doing right now… I sure do miss her

Despite the amount of hours I need to spend away from her, I don’t feel anything bad is to go with this chance,

Because I’ll be able to make enough money to get us a new home just for the two of us, raise her the correct way, the only same thing is I’ll keep her homeschooled, nobody will change my mind on that.

She deserves so many great things and life and I just know that I’ll be able to give it to her.

Although I do wish she could have some type of woman figure in her life but even if she doesn’t so what? So many people raise their kids alone, besides I’ve been doing it for 6 years, what’s decades more?

JEWELS WITHIN; a wolf story pt.3

Summary - After being rejected by his mother at birth and parents murdered by hunters, soonyoung is faced with the responsibility of raising his little sister alone… until he finds you.

Notes: fonts are used at random times, as always. Towards the end we get the side of Jeongsoo’s story! (His father) but other than that italics will usually always be for Soonyoung when he thinks!

Soonyoung has always been faced with difficult decisions.

Whether it was him figuring out the food him and his sister would eat during the day, or where they would sleep.

Honestly it was just plain difficult.

Raising a child by yourself is not the easiest task at hand, especially when you have nowhere to go, nowhere to be warm other than a fire made out of wood and rocks.

So Joshua asking him to stay after bitching for so long? It was a hard decision to make. Why? Because you never can be too careful, who knows if he’s acting and will do something?

He would be lying if he plain out said he wasn’t nervous, because he was. All he ever wants is to give his sister the best life, a life that’s not living rough and needing to fight to survive.

She’s only 6 for crying out loud, but at the end of the day, he’d do anything for her, no matter if she screams her heart out in the morning singing her favorite songs, or just talking about whatever nonsense children love to speak about. Because she’s his sister.

These two words have been ringing in Soonyoung’s ears for so long with eyes empty and dazed out.

Could he trust these people- werewolves. Could he trust these werewolves? Sure he stayed the night here, but staying? That’s something he immediately starting flooding his thoughts with what if’s on things that may or may not happen.

One being what if they want Hana and take her while he’s sleeping?

No… he’s smarter than that he’d can make sure that wouldn’t happen, easy.

But what if they poison him or her? What if they put wolfsbane in the food!? Or… or the air… the water?

“Hoshi!” A voice called out. What if he can’t smell anything because they put something in the house’s air that took his senses away but not theirs!?

No… that’s not possible.

What if they’re teamed up with hunters?? Or what if they hate rogues so much they truly want to kill them?! “Hosh! Hosh!” The voice called out again.

Soonyoung was overthinking so much he completely blurred out everything around him (which he’ll blame himself for not paying attention and letting his mind off guard for watching Hana.)

But what if… “HOSHIIIII!!” The voice yelled, bringing Soonyoung out of his overthinking mind. “H-huh? Oh.” He said looking down at Hana who was calling his name and looked at him with big eyes.

“I think you should accept his offer! He looks really nice now! And we wouldn’t have to live in a cave anymore!” The little girl says happily. “I can’t just accept his offer Hana! This is a huge choice to make and-“

“You don’t have to accept. I understand, I mean I was an ass and now I’m switching up, but I’m being as sincere as I can be when I say I want you to stay, I know what you two are going through… and I’m not saying that out of empathy.” He says with a dry laugh, walking towards the kitchen door leaving Soonyoung with a anticipating Hana.

Looks like Mr Anger has some secrets yet to be told…

“I understand that being outcasted and living such a heard life can bring trust issues… but you really can trust us! I mean something inside of you allowed both you and your sister to stay the night here, maybe a week or so until you find something else wouldn’t hurt Soonyoung.” Aria says, looking at Soonyoung with a small smile.

“How would you understand? I’m sure you’ve never lived a hard day in your life.” Soonyoung says coldly. “We aren’t outcasts.” He scoffs. “But that’s how you see all rogues huh? Can’t blame you. But we’re not outcasts.” He says, shaking his head and thinning his lips into a straight line as he looks down at his sister.

“Do you want to stay here? Is that what you really want?” He says softly.

“Yes! I will be so happy!” The little girl says, giving a big convincing smile up at her brother who sighs. “Fine, we’ll stay but only for a week, then we’re leaving.” He says sternly.

“Great! You won’t regret it… I hope.” Aria says looking down towards the floor.

“Anyways! Are you both hungry? Anything you want specifically?” She says trying to change up the mood. “Whatever you make is fine… thanks.” Soonyoung says picking up Hana and sitting her on his hip as he follow the shorter girl into the kitchen where Joshua sits eating his already made breakfast.

“I want some pancakes please!” Hana says clapping her hands, still wearing that big smile on her face. “Do you ever stop smiling?” Joshua asks with furrowed eyebrows. “Of course not sir! Smiling is great to do! It can make others happy!” Hana squeaks out. “I also love smiling cause-“ she tried to explain further. “Hana be quiet, you don’t have to give him any reason.” He cuts her off. “He’s just upset he can’t do the same.” Soonyoung says with a snicker.

“Don’t forget who’s letting you stay here. I could make you get out right now.” Joshua says glaring at Soonyoung. “We both know you won’t do it.” Soonyoung starts. “You’re little ‘i know what it feels like’ speech says it all… if it was even true.” Soonyoung says lazily. Making Joshua stand up.

“Of course it was true! God is that what people see me as? Someone who would lie about that?!” He yells making Hana flinch. “Baby…” Aria says moving towards Joshua.

“I don’t know? Lots of people like to lie their way out of things by using a hard core background of a life for an excuse, you can’t blame me for saying what I said.” Soonyoung says in a matter of fact tone.

Joshua just scoffs and leaves the kitchen.

What’s his deal this morning…

“He uh… gets like this sometimes… or a lot but! Don’t worry about it he really doesn’t mean any harm.” Aria tries to explain. “It’s all good. Hey do you know where I’d get a job application from?” He asks suddenly making Aria look at him from behind the counter.

“Well… actually, I work at a bar and maybe I could help you get a position there.” She says putting a hand to her mouth as she thinks.

Her? Working at a bar? Didn’t see that coming.

“Didn’t think you would be the type.” He mumbles. “What type?” She asks with a tilt to her head. “To work at a bar, you know, you just don’t look like you’d be in that setting.”

“Oh! Yeah I mean you’re right, It’s definitely not but it pays well… so how about after breakfast we can go down there? You can check it out and see if you like it there.” She says with a smile on her face, turning back around to finish the food.

“Sure, that would be great.” He says with a monotone. “Hosh?” Hana says grabbing the attention of the older boy. “Hm.” He says looking at her. “What’s a job? And what’s a bar?” She asks looking up at her brother with a semi opened mouth in question.

“A job is where someone goes to get money, which is what I really need for us to get our own place, with food and get you the things you need.” He says, not bothering to answer the girl’s other question.

“What about a bar?” She asks.

Kids sure don’t quit until they get an answer huh?

Soonyoung just sits staring into the table not answering his sisters question.

Hana on the other hand, realizing her brother won’t reply to her question. She asks the girl In front of them. “Miss what’s a bar?! Do you eat it?” She asks. While Soonyoung burns a hole into the back of Aria’s head with his eyes hoping she won’t tell Hana the truth.

He wants Hana to be away from all these kinds of things, she’s too young, she doesn’t need to know what a bar is.

“You can call me Aria honey, a bar is when people gather around and play games and have a good time!” She tries explaining it in the best kid friendly way as she could.

“Games!? I wanna go! Take me, take me!” She pleads to Soonyoung. “No.” Is all that he says. “You’re no fun hoshi! Aria would take me! Right Ria?” She says, using a nickname that made Aria’s heart swell.

“I’m so sorry sweetheart, but you can’t go until you get just a little older! Plus… it’s not as fun if you’re small, it’s harder to have fun there!” She says softly. “Breakfast is ready!here’s the pancakes for the little princess! I hope you like them, I made them with love.” She says laughing a little.

“Here’s your breakfast… hoshi.” She says trying to be playful. “Don’t call me that.” Soonyoung says glaring at her. “Oh.. I just-“ She tries explaining. “Only Hana calls me that and I’d like to keep it that way.” He says. “We aren’t friends, we’re merely guests and I don’t need you calling me nicknames.” He says shaking his head.

“I’m sorry…” Aria says quietly. “It’s okay ria.” Hana mouths to her, making her smile sadly.

Why is she sad? He’s kind of right… we aren’t friends, we don’t know him, or the child. They’re merely just guests that we don’t need to get close to other than helping them.

Right?

“I’m done eating.” Soonyoung says leaving the kitchen table with a quiet thank you.

“He barely ate anything…” Aria says looking at his plate. “He doesn’t eat a lot, I try telling him to eat but he don’t listen!” Hana says throwing her tiny arms into the air with an eye roll making Aria laugh.

“The bar is approximately 15 minutes away from this house, and 30 minutes if you try walking.” Aria explains as she gets ready for work. “Okay.” Soonyoung says watching her get ready as he just had his shoes on- which were new ones as Aria snuck into Joshua’s room to get a pair.

Not like the guy would notice anyways. He has to many shoes… unless he keeps track of all of his shoes and he’ll tell her off later after work.

She cringes just at the thought.

“Where’s a place that Hana can go? I have to drop her off close to this job.” Soonyoung says looking around the house since he never really payed attention to it.

“Huh? A place to drop her off? There isn’t one, she’s gonna stay here with Joshua and some other of the pack members here.” She says as if it was the most obvious thing.

As soon as he heard this information he started to panic on the inside. Hana? Alone? That simply wouldn’t do… she’s never been alone, ever. Sure for a small moment when he has to go get food for the two of them

But actually by herself? With random people? No.

“I change my mind, I don’t want to do it.” He quickly says. “What? Why?” She asks with furrowed eyebrows.

“I can’t leave my sister here alone are you crazy!? She’s never been alone before, plus all these people? I won’t allow it. It wouldn’t work out-“ He says in a rush, not even realizing he was showing his panicked side.

“Soonyoung, just calm down, please? You’re sister will be fine. The others here will absolutely adore her. They’d never do anything to hurt her.” Aria says trying to reason with him.

“But what if-“ He tries protesting. “She’ll be fine.” Aria says looking into his eyes with a smile.

“Okay.” He sighs, giving in… for once.

Leaving Hana alone was a pure nightmare come true. Even if it was for a few hours advance, his baby, his sunshine, his Everything would be alone… without him.

Without him to check up on her every second, annoying her with his singing (which he also knows it’s what helps her sleep at night, although she won’t admit it.) for all the 6 years they’ve spent together roaming around trees and going from shelter to shelter.

Hana never knew what it was like to live without her brother next to her, it was no doubt she would react badly to the news her protecter had to leave for half the day.

“You’re leaving me?! Why?! I know I was a bad girl last night and I’m sorry! I.. I didn’t mean it!” Hana sobbed from the depths of her heart.

Soonyoung had broke the news to her that he’d be leaving for a few hours and now she thinks he’s mad at her.

He was definitely expecting this reaction.

“What? No! It’s only for a few hours baby, I promise and it’s not about last night, okay? I have to go.” He said trying to blink away the tears that wanted to come through.

“B-but i don’t want you to go. I want you to stay with me.” She hiccups. “I know… I know honey and I’ll be back so fast you wouldn’t even know I was gone! You’re safe here yeah? I wouldn’t leave you unless I knew you were safe, you know that right?” He says rubbing his hand over her hair.

“I know! But why do you have to go? Just stay here!” She says in a whines. “It’s not that easy to explain Hana, but it’ll just be a few hours, okay? I swear to you.” He promises.

Should he have told her that he’s looking for a job? Perhaps, but that would lead her asking questions about it and pushing it.

He has to go. He made it his life mission -quite literally- to make sure he can give his sister everything possible in life.

His father wanted him to be the one who protected her. Not that he had any other choice in the moment, but still, he would want her with Soonyoung anyways.

Jeongsoo knew from the moment he brought Hana home, Soonyoung would not only love her and do anything to the extent.

But he also knew he would be taking care of her for the rest of his life.

Yes, he knew that the hunters would come find them eventually, he knew him and his wife would be killed.

He knew.

He never did anything because he wanted to have his last longing moments with his daughter and son for as long as he could hold onto. Even if it was overnight.

It wasn’t easy accepting the fact his life was going to be taken away from his children, he despised it. But what could he do?

If he tried getting protection or help it would lead to people knowing more about it, he couldn’t have that happen.

Jeongsoo was a very smart man, he could sense when things were going to arise, he could feel the atmosphere change when something was being planned.

Which is also how he knew that Soonyoung would be okay, he was gonna have to mature quickly and of course, it was going to be the hardest moments of his life to come.

He’d figure it out though, he always has figured things out, even if it may be messy, he’ll know what to do. Just like his father taught him.

He never liked the idea of having his kids live the same life he did.

Jeongsoo was guilty, though. The requirement of leaving his children in the world the way he must?

The four wolves had been walking through the woods for around 30 minutes before a large house came into view, everyone was silent, the only noise that was heard was Hana’s soft snoring who had fell asleep after crying - in which soonyoung apologized for because truly, he didn’t want to startle her.-

“This is our home, may you be reminded that you’re only staying for a night. Keep the kid with you at all times and don’t let me see you the rest of the night.” Joshua states rudely. Looking at soonyoung who has a frown on his face. “Noted.” Soonyoung says quickly, trailing slowly behind the female wolf aria.

I can’t believe I’m doing this, I could be putting us in an ugly situation yet… I don’t.. sense harm? The other wolves seem really nice but I shouldn’t let my guard down so easily, I’m only doing this for Hana to have an actual roof over her head, she deserves it even if it’s for a night.

Besides, she’s never even been inside a house nor laid in a damn bed, so this will be one hell of an experience for her when she wakes up.

After the two went inside the house Joshua and the other wolf -nala- stayed out and and began to have a discussion about the very unexpected guests. “Your sister drives me crazy sometimes” Joshua says with a groan. “Yet at the end of the day she’s your mate” nala says with a grin. “I just don’t understand why she had to invite him.” “I mean he’s has a fucking child for fucks sake” Joshua says angrily.

���I think aria was just listening to her heart, josh.” “You know how giving my sister can be-“ “yeah well I’d appreciate it if she wouldn’t be so giving to a dirty rogue and his daughter.” Joshua barked out cutting her off. “listen, don’t act like you’re so much better than them when you were in the same spot as them at one point in your life, remember your place Joshua, you grew from nothing to being in a healthy pack with healthy wolves. Nobody helped you other than aria herself, so stop being an ass and just give them a chance, for aria, Please.” Nala says with a deep frown on her face.

“What if he brings trouble to the pack?! And the kid… what if this is a trap??” He says quickly. “Josh calm down” nala says laughing a bit, looking into his eyes. “He’s just like you, I’m more than certain there’s a huge story as to why they live the way that they are and I need you to trust me.”

“Alright this is the living room, upstairs you can take a right and a spare bedroom is there very hard not to miss, and the bathrooms are a little further down the hall on the left!” Aria says smiling at soonyoung. “Thanks but, why are you helping us… we’re strangers to you and you shouldn’t be so trust worthy with anyone like this.” Soonyoung says looking at the smaller girl with narrowed eyes.

“That is a question to be answered in the morning! Ummm?” She trails off gesturing to what his name is. “Soonyoung, this is Hana, my sister.” He says shortly. “Sister? Aw how old?” She asks in awe looking at the little girl sleeping in the arms of now human form soonyoung. “She’s six, today’s her birthday, actually.” He says thinning his lips in a straight line. “Oh! How sweet… well you two should be heading to bed, good night soonyoung!” She says looking at him with a smile before turning her heels towards the kitchen.

She didn’t even know my name yet so openly brought us into her own packs home, she’s lucky I’m not looking to cause trouble and I have a child on me. Literally.

“Okay let’s get you into bed” he says quietly, going up the stairs and taking the direction told by aria into the spare room. “Hoshiiii” Hana mumbles and soonyoung hushes her while going into the bedroom and laying her down gently. “Don’t leave meeee, please? It’s my birthday” she says as she wakes up looking at soonyoung who walks over to the other side of the bed and gets in next to her, putting her head on his chest. “I’m not going anywhere nana I promise” he says kissing the top of her head.

“I’m sorry you didn’t have a great birthday today-“ “are you kidding?! I get to sleep in a bed! And in a house! This is the best birthday ever” She says hugging soonyoung as tight as she could which makes soonyoung laugh quietly. “You’re such a good kid Hana, I don’t know how I got so lucky” he says smiling. “Because you raised me! I’m a good kid because of hoshi!!” She says with a big smile.

“I love you Hana” “I love you more soonie” “no I love you more” “NO! Me love hoshi more”

Let’s just say this went on many with I love yous until they both fell asleep in each other’s arms.

This was the best birthday Hana could have ever wished for.

Hana was woken up by many voices and her being the curious little girl she is, she subconsciously got out the bed and turned the door knob walking out towards downstairs.

“What are we going to do about those two rogues? They can’t just stay here…” a voice says. “They’ll leave soon, I don’t want them in my home any longer than they have to be” another voice says, making Hana gasp quietly at what was being said.

Sure, she was only 6 but she was very smart to understand they were no longer welcome in the big comfy home. She turned back around from the corner of the stair she was hiding on to go back into the bedroom to tell her brother they had to leave.

Unfortunately the universe wasn’t on her side at the moment as the stair case creaked and heads turned towards the sound spotting Hana looking terrified. “I-I’m sorry” she says quietly.

“What are you doing up kid? More importantly why were you listening to our conversation?” Joshua says roughly. Eyes slowly turning red. “This is adult shit you shouldn’t be down here being so nosy” He says walking over towards the child.

“I… i did not mean to sir, I-“ “then what were you doing!?.” He cut her off with a yell and that’s all it took for hana to drop on the floor and cry.

She never liked when someone yelled or shouted at her or at anyone, it makes her sad and scared, hana always wants everyone to be happy as she loves being the one to put smiles on faces, not the opposite.

“The last time I catch you trying to steal another one of my apples or bread pieces i won’t be letting you off the hook so easily boy” an older man said to the younger. “I’m really sorry but i need food for me and my-“ “take you and your dirt somewhere else boy! You aren’t welcomed, now leave my market!” The man yells.

Great. Now we can’t even eat. Just perfect.

The boy thinks to himself, walking away towards the back of a tent, revealing a crying hana.

“Hey, hey what’s wrong!? Did someone hurt you?!” Soonyoung says rushed looking over the little girls body for any marks or scratches. “T-the man… loud…” she whimpers out. “Scary…” she says crying harder. “Nana! It’s okay… it’s alright h-he’s gone now okay?” The boy says cradling the girl rocking back and forth singing a song.

The boy dashes out the door to see the commotion, eyes darting down to the stair cases where his little girl, his best friend, his sister, the only other sunshine than the sun it’s self sits there, sobbing and shaking.

“Hey what’s going on??” Soonyoung says picking up hana who cries louder holding onto her brother like he’s going to disappear. “Your child was being nosy on our conversation, looks like you’ve taught her no manners.” Joshua says eyes still as red as a ruby. “She’s just a kid man! Six! Shes still learning. No need to flare your eyes like that-“ “don’t forget whose house you are in, you have no right telling me what i can or cannot do in my household.” The older says. “You’re right, but when it comes to my sister, i do have a right to say something. Especially when she’s not hurting anyone by purpose.”

“He’s right josh, you shouldn’t flare your eyes at a child”

Note: not completely proof read, this is my first story on tumblr ( and first wolf story ) so this might be kinda rushed and I apologize for that 😭 hopefully this will reach people and will enjoy it :D

Another note: theres mainly only third person pov in this chapter and this is more of an introduction of what happened in the past. (Bold text is for when someone else is speaking in wolf form/time skips, italic is for soonyoung thinking to himself, bold italic is for “alpha tone”)

“Wake up!” A small voice says as soonyoung groans turning his back towards the voice. “Go back to sleep Hana, it’s to early for your screaming.” The dark haired boy says covering his eyes with his arms trying to doze back into slumber.

“But it’s my birthday! I’m six! You have to wake up…” Hana says shaking the older boy who pushes her tiny hand away with a soft groan and slowly gets up from his spot. “It’s your birthday huh? Pretty sure it was last year.” He says jokingly, looking at her with a small smile on his face.

“Birthday’s are each year soonie… and today is mine!” She says excitedly clapping her hands jumping up and down from where she’s standing. “Alright alright calm down, let’s get you some food then shall we?” The boy says standing up and stretching before making his way out their shelter of the night to get Hana’s food ready.

Six years he’s been alone, six years he’s been raising a child that shouldn’t even have to live the way they do now… he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t sick of it.

Don’t get him wrong, he loves his sister and would quite literally do anything for her, even if it means sacrificing himself for her to keep going, but sometimes he asks himself… “what would it be like if we didn’t have to be rogues?” Or “what kind of happy family would we have if mother hadn’t rejected me” and “how would it be if our parents weren’t murdered?” things like this keep him up at night. Soonyoung had been out on his own between the ages 13 and 17, despite his mother not caring for him his father on the other hand still loved him with everything he had in him.

when soonyoung was only 13, his father secretly picked him up from the teens shelter his mother had put him in and made a place for him inside the couples home so could take care of him without his mate knowing.

He made sure that the room he put the younger boy in could block out any smells that his mother would pick up and surprisingly, his father was successful in keeping his son with him for a majority of 7 years, teaching him to become strong and independent as he’d learn how to shift into wolf form some time ago, also being taught when and how to deal with the heat cycle and about finding his mate.

Recently soonyoung has been feeling odd about something within the home, so he decided to ask his father about what it is and why he’s feeling it.

“H-Hey dad?” He said to the man sitting across from him eating dinner In the little room they were inside of. “Yes hoshi?” His dad answered using the nickname he had given him. “I-I have this… feeling? I-I don’t know what it is but maybe you’d know?” He said watching his father grow a smile and turning into the chair to face him.

“I do know what it is, you’re a very smart boy soon, I’m proud you picked it up” jeongsoo started chuckling lighting making soonyoung confused. “Your mother is pregnant, soonyoung.”

Soonyoung was shocked when his father told him his parents are expecting to say the least, he felt his heartbeat in his head and was almost positive his father heard it too, was it nervousness? No, of course not, but in all honesty he was a little upset… okay maybe he was really upset but he wouldn’t take it out on the baby. Never.

“She’s pregnant?! She can’t even accept her first born more so look at me, why would this happen again?” He said getting up from his seat on the bed and leaving the room where his father looked at him and left him alone.

Soonyoung ran in his wolf form and went to the only place he knew was safe to think about what he was just told.

Pregnant? The woman can’t even come near her son for fucks sake, maybe she changed? I doubt it though… it just doesn’t make sense,

Does the moon goddess have something against me? I hope not. There’s 9 months left though, who knows if she’ll reject the child or not.

While soonyoung sat alone in the grass filled field, he smelled a familiar scent and chuckled lightly.

“Why did you come after me.” He said in a bit of spite. “Don’t catch a tone with me boy.” His father said looking at him with eyes that basically said “don’t try it” I know you’re upset but no need to be disrespectful.” He said in a scolding tone. “Sorry, I just don’t really know how to react right now.” He said scrunching his eyebrows and looking over to where his father sits in his wolf form as well.

“Listen soonyoung, I know this is a lot to take in, I know how you feel.”

“My mother rejected me when I was born as well, didn’t want a thing to do with me… so when your mother did the same to you I was devastated. But I still did everything I could to be in your life despite that, your grandfather could’ve cared less to watch over me like I do for you.”

“Does mom know that you were rejec-“ “No.”

Silence fell over the two for some time.

“Your mother came from a well supported pack, while as I… came from a pack where we had to fight continuously. For our will to live, it wasn’t easy but we made it through.” Jeongsoo said choking up a bit but keeping his composure.

“Dad.. I’m sorr-“ “no need to be son, the reason I’m telling you this is so you know you’re not alone, I’ve been there where you sit and grew up to be who I am today.” He said turning towards his son who had tears filling his eyes. “Don’t cry, save them for when you truly need them.” He said nuzzling his nose into his sons cheek.

“Dad I’m to old for that” soonyoung said laughing. “You’ll always be my pup whether you like it or not.” Jeongsoo said doing his nuzzle a bit more harder and the two then started play fighting while the moon shined so bright.

over the 9 months the boy was mentally preparing his introduction when he would meet his sister… little did he know that more than an introduction would be something he needs to prepare for.

The day had finally came when his sister would be coming into the world and he was actually excited, his father would show him ultrasound photos so that he’d some way feel included as well, even if it was from afar.

5 hours later.

Soonyoung was sitting down on the cold rug in his “room” eating a snack he had gotten while he snuck out and heard the door open with the noise of a baby crying filled his ears. The boys eyes lit up and quickly finished what he was eating, waiting for his father to introduce him to his sister… and when he did soonyoung was thankful his father told him to save his tears for something else, In other words.

A very special moment.

“Isn’t she adorable hoshi? She looks just like you when you were a baby!” Jeongsoo exclaimed with joy over his face, watching his son hold his sister with a huge smile.

“I love her, what’s her name?” Soonyoung said with a big grin and looked up to his father while rocking his sister who stopped crying. “We actually haven’t thought of a name yet, we’re still deciding.” Jeongsoo said with a nod. “Oh okay! Where’s mom? I’m surprised she’s not wondering where you are” “she’s upstairs resting, I’ve told her to do so and I’ll take care of this little girl for the meantime. In other words give her to you” He said smiling. 

The rest of the evening went smooth while soonyoung bonded with the baby, which by the way- never cried unless she was hungry, tired, or taken away from her brother which shocked the boy but made him happy too.

Everything went well for those 4 hours until it was time to wrap up dinner and head to sleep.

Soonyoung laid on his bed listening to his mother trying to calm the baby, but to no avail as he knew he was the one who could make her stop crying. He shook his head rolling his eyes as he turns to shut the small lamp next to him.

As he closed his eyes finally in a state of peace, he hears glass break and lots of voices shouting. What the fuck?

He quickly sccuries to his feet and opens the door to find his father with the newborn, a frantic look on his face as he gently shoves the baby into the boys arms. “Dad Whats happening?” “Soonyoung, i want you to leave the house and run as fast as you can. Far as you can, we’re under attack and i know what they want.” Jeongsoo states looking into the boys eyes with red eyes.

“But I don’t understand why are they here so suddenly?!?” He says barley getting his sentence out when a loud pitch scream is heard.

“Dad??!” “Soonyoung, go. Take care of your sister do you hear me? Be happy and protect yourself as I’ve taught you, now go!” Jeongsoo says rushing towards the back door of the home pushing the boy out and soonyoung takes one last look behind him to see his mother for the last time before the door is shut in his face.

“Get the boy and the infant!” He hears…

He starts running.

1 week later

“I never thought I’d see myself having to become a parent so quick” soonyoung says chuckling sadly. “I’m sorry for the life that’s ahead, I promise I’ll always do my best to make you happy, only you.” He says looking down to the baby softly rubbing her cheek. “Dad said you don’t have a name yet so… how about Hana? You like that? Hm?” The baby in question starts smiling showing her cute little dimples making her brother smile too.

“I still wonder how you got dimples, but it doesn’t matter they’re the cutest on you.” He says poking her belly gently. “We have a long journey ahead of us, Hana.” He says sighing.

Present

“Slow down Hana the food won’t run away” the older boy says laughing softly. “But it’s so good! Want some?” She says with her mouth full of food and picks up some of her breakfast (soonyoung had previously hunted the day before) and putting it towards the boy who shakes his head.

“No, I’m fine thank you.” He says smiling softly and takes a moment to look at the trees.

New morning, new day which means they need to start moving from their place. Each day soonyoung’s goal is to get closer and closer into town, he’s been before, of course. But he needs to make a better lifestyle for Hana and himself quick, he refuses his sister living such a cruel life any longer.

“What you looking at?” Hana asks looking at her brother who seems to be in his thoughts. “Soonie?” She says in a high voice, moving to stand up and make her way towards the older boy. “Hoshi!!” She screams making soonyoung flinch and turn around franticly, crouching down and holding her face in his palms.

“What?? Are you okay? What happened?!” He quickly asks. “Nothing! You weren’t responding so I scream!” She says laughing as if she was told the funniest joke on earth. “Well you scared me, anyways are you finished? We should get moving.” He says rolling his eyes and standing back up looking back at the trees again.

“But… soonie you haven’t ate!” She says worriedly with wide eyes. “I’ll be fine Hana don’t worry” He says with an assuring nod. “Let’s get going.” He says taking her hand in his and starting their journey.

“Soon, my legs are sleepy.” Hana mumbles but soonyoung can hear it just fine. “I know nana, you wanna get on my back?” He asks and she nods.

He crouches down her height and suddenly hears a crunch in the leaves, thinking it was just his weight that naturally crushed the leaves until he heard it again.

“Shit” he mumbles as he looks up to see 3 wolves surrounding them with red eyes. “Hoshi what happening?” Hana asks as soonyoung holds her close to his side and eyes turning red when he hears loud howling.

“Soonyoung I’m scared!” Hana whimpers. “Shh” he says quietly. “Hana cover your eyes.” “No! I’m scared!” “I won’t let anything happen to you just close your eyes!” He yells making Hana flinch and slowly cover her eyes and starts crying quietly.

Soonyoung steps a little further away from hana and shifts into his wolf. Stepping in-front of her protectively and growling lowly to the other wolves who had stood before them.

“What are rogues like yourself doing in my territory, you shouldn’t be here.” The wolf in the middle who soonyoung assumed was the alpha said lowly. “I didn’t know this was your territory, let alone one at all. You should have better guards cause clearly they don’t do their fucking job.” Soonyoung said matching the alphas tone.

Surprisingly the other two wolfs looked amused. “Woah he talked back to Joshua, this is interesting” one of the wolfs said making the wolf supposedly named Joshua growl at them. “You need to leave before things get ugly and I don’t think you want that.” He said nodding over the the little girl who’s still crying making soonyoung move his leg to further more cover Hana.

“We’ll leave.” Soonyoung says sharply, laying down so hana can get on his back and walking another direction.

“Wait!” One of the wolfs ran up to him and he instinctively got into a defense position. “Calm down dude, I just wanted to say.” The wolf looks at the other two before back at soonyoung. “You two should come with us, for the night, it’s getting late and cold so you guys can stay at our home until morning.” “What?” Joshua says angrily. “I’m aria by the way!” She says running back towards the other wolf.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Soonyoung says. “We’re on your territory” “yes but-“ “ he’s right aria, and you can’t just invite some rogue with a child into our pack house are you crazy?!” Joshua spits. “Maybe I am, but I’ve been in their position at one point in my life and so have you, so have some fucking decency for once and let them stay with us!” Aria says.

“Fine, but for one night only.” He says turning back to glare at soonyoung who glares back instantly.

This is not how soonyoung wanted to enjoy Hana’s birthday.
