I also think they'd exaggerate her personality and make her more downright mean and snarky than standoffish and blunt.

Oh and in the spirit of Zoey's wild mountain cat, they might refer to Luna's DNA animal as just an umbrella octopus instead of clarifying the specific species.

Luna seems like a cool edgy girl name, while Alonso is Spanish and is super similar to her father's canon surname; Alon.

4Kids is not tolerating an aggressive, shop-lifting, street fighting delinquent. So that's getting MASSIVELY toned down. They will make her use totally radical and modern slang instead. Shout out Musa Winx Club.

And her surname being Drake is a silly lil pun. Get it. Drake. Like. Like dragon. Because she's dragon themed.

They're also definitely toning down the severity of the bullying she faces and how strict and overbearing her parents are.

4Kids might also play up the rich girl side of her and make her more privileged than she really is.

The Hart in Hartford means deer, in reference to one of her RDA. I picked her first name because it sounds cute and soft and it reminds me of Emily Dickinson.

She's had SO MANY different dub names, but I finally landed on Mollie Summers. I think it fits her cutesy bubbly energy.

Love loses but you knew that already. They're dulling her sparkle, wringing the sheer lesbian energy out of her like a wet rag. They're also turning her cry-baby attitude and ditziness up to eleven for comedy purposes.

4Kids would, without a doubt, give her a valley girl accent.

I wanted her dub name to match Ichijiku's quirkiness and Harper Quinn just felt right. It gives me an artsy, modern vibe.

Banban Liu — Faye Yang

😔 All my gays... eviscerated... she totally doesn't have a crush on her bestie :) Faye and Harper are just normal heterosexual gal pals :) nothing queer going on here teehee :)

Other than that the only real change they'd make is changing the languages she can speak from Mandarin and Japanese to Mandarin and English.

Faye is a pretty common name for Chinese-American women, it's also a little old fashioned. Combined with her one-syllable surname, it sounds kinda blunt, very fitting for her.

My token heterosexual gets off easy. 4Kids would make her more of a stereotypical mean teenage girl, complete with inserting like and totally into her dialogue constantly. I think they'd also make her less complex and likable.

She was super easy to name. Ashley is the privileged white mean girl name.

Tiramisu — Letha

My sad little lady is lucky; 4Kids probably won't change much about her, aside from making way more jokes about how sleepy she is.

Letha is short for lethargic.

Soufflé — Devi

VA: Kathleen Delaney

4Kids is declawing her. SMH they do not support evil women doing horrible things.

Devi is short for devious.

Ganache — Cidica

VA: Lisa Ortiz

Ganache is losing their agender swag 😔 I think 4Kids would take one look at that twink and their crop top and their dumb little ponytail and make them a girl. Ganache is canonically an assassin, which would be a no-no for a kids' show, so instead Cidica would be Devi's bodyguard. No death and maiming and murder allowed.

Cidica is acidic spelled backwards.

Palmier — Mordan

They might give him a British accent. Sardon... 2! [insert Peggle 2 gif]

The biggest change 4Kids would do is making his experiments much less unethical.

Mordan is short for mordant.

Honestly 4Kids would leave her alone for the most part, they'd just make her less violently obsessed with Mordan.

An easy introduction post! 🎀

I wanted to make a post for people who don’t know a ton about my tmm ocs and huge story I’ve been developing for them! This acts as both a quick summary and a starting point, and also a directory with links 🍓

You can proceed and not know about/have watched tmm; I do a quick summary of that too and the very basics of what you need to know, but as a next gen story it uses the base bones of the story and goes from there!

💖💕Tokyo mew mew basics 💕💖

(skip if you’ve seen the anime/read the manga!)

Ichigo Momomiya is a magical girl infused with the DNA of an endangered animal (the irimote wildcat). She’s the leader of the mew mews of ‘Tokyo Mew Mew’, a group of magical girls all infused with endangered animals, fighting aliens.

The aliens want to take Earth back for their people— many many years before humans, they actually lived on Earth, but had to leave in a ship when the Earth was having a lot of disasters and changing too rapidly. The new planet they found is also hostile, hot and sandstormy all the time, and they’re basically forced in caves. The aliens believe the humans are mistreating the Earth and that they deserve it more since they were technically there first. They fight by infusing parasites into earth animals and humans ‘souls’ or plants to make chimera animas (big ole monsters).

The leaders of the mew project are Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka. They’re continuing off of Ryou’s parents research— they died when a Chimera Anima attacked, and Keiichiro is Ryou’s legal guardian now (he was an assistant to Ryou’s parents) Their base is Cafe Mew Mew, a super cutesty cafe where the girls work as waitresses! The lab is in the basement and is where the Science happens.

Mew Aqua is a magical crystalline water with healing and magical properties! It gives the mews a power boost, and can heal both people and the Earth, making plants and greenery sprout seemingly instantaneously! It’s full abilities are unknown, but the mews have to protect it from the aliens.

The alien’s leader is Deep Blue, who’s their god and speaks through them from another realm up until Kisshu (one of the aliens) floods DB’s realm with the mew aqua until he ‘awakens’ fully.

Ichigo’s boyfriend Masaya turns out to be his vessel and Ichigo and him work together to take down Deep Blue in the finale, where he gets his body back and they seemingly live happily ever after— the mews and aliens end on a friendly note, and the mews give the aliens mew aqua so they can repair their own planet.

There’s also a video game only character, Ringo, who’s story happens over summer break for the girls and she’s only a mew that long, being infused with her pet penguin. She lives on an island they travel to win the game! She’s canon in my story!

Berry is also canon- a mew who’s in the spin-off mangas that never got animated. It’s set post canon, while Ichigo travels to England with Masaya for his studies, Berry is the temp leader and newest mew! She’s infused with (2) animals.

All 7 mews are canon in TM2! Also, all of them are named after foods and that’s something I keep tradition with with my ocs!

That’s the basic summary of the tmm anime/manga I draw on! Ofc I highly recommend it if you enjoy magical girl shows, it’s free on YouTube! And is getting a reboot anime next year 💕

🌙💫Tokyo Miracle basics💫🌙

(Aka Time to Mess with Canon, here’s when my ocs come in!)

Tokyo Miracle is a next gen story about the kids of tmm characters! It takes place many years after the first series, everyone is all grown up!

The story starts with the alien’s planet. Everything is stabilized thanks to the power of the mew aqua. It’s still mostly a hot desert planet, but there’s no longer chaotic, harmful sandstorms, and it’s not so hot it hurts anymore; it’s stable and predictable. The people are able to leave the caves (although a sect stays— more on that later though!) and the area below the caves is a valley that’s become a lush oasis in the desert with plentiful food and water, and they’re able to live and thrive instead of just barely surviving.

When it finally seems like things are looking up, huge bug-like aliens descend on the planet and start attacking. The people are in a frenzy because the monsters are nothing they’ve seen, and practically indestructible even though alien tech is super advanced in comparison to Earth’s. With seemingly no options, they all board the ship and flee, to Earth.

In the turmoil, a woman named Queen has taken advantage of the chaos and stepped in as leader. Things quickly turn out for the worst as she declares that they’ll take the Earth back for good this time and she employs several generals to imprison anyone who openly rebels against her. People still do- just as under the table as possible.

Meanwhile on Earth, one of those rebels managed to send a message to Earth, specifically to the cafe so Ryou could hear it. It’s a distress signal, begging for help and explaining the situation.

He speeds up Project Tokyo Mew Two. Project TM2 for short (what I usually abbreviate Tokyo miracle as, and tag it with) is a project to make a robotic mew mew. In the original series the mascot character for the group was Masha, a cute little robot, so I don’t think it’s a leap to say Keiichiro would get Ryou interested in robotics after that. Ryou felt intense guilt after the final battle with Deep Blue, and the purpose of the robot would be so that no real girls have to be infused and fight and risk getting hurt again— and she’d also be durable to fight for hundreds of years, long after he’s gone.

Enter the main character, Mira Aoyama! She’s the 15 year old daughter of Ichigo and Masaya, the youngest of their three kids. She has two older brothers who are twins and were adopted that have already moved out by the time the story starts. The family just moved into Masaya’s parents old home they gave to the family after deciding to move into a new one. It’s a big house, and Mira is having a hard time adjusting without her brothers she’s been used to, in a new place even if she didn’t swap schools...

To make things worse, her best friend since childhood is moving to China to attend an acrobat school, and being a somewhat naive, over-excited nerd, she doesn’t really. Have friends (not for a lack of trying!) She’s the student council president, gets good grades and is told she’s ‘well-behaved’ by adults, but she feels restless.

She has a very strong admiration for her mother, and desperately wants to be a magical girl. In her mind, that’s the ideal and if she were to become a magical girl, she’d get friends and an idea of what she wants in life! So on her birthday she goes to the cafe to bug Ryou— she’s already planned out her outfit and of course she’ll be infused with a cat— but Ryou is in the basement and can’t hear her knocking. Mira hears rustling in the bushes and— it’s an alien!

This alien— named Persimmon— says she’s here to help and was the only alien in the rebellion against Queen to escape the ship. She can give them more info and help! ...But she’s not much older than Mira at 17 in Earth years, and the ‘help’ she offers is a parasite she stole from the ship’s lab and is supposedly infused with an anteater. It makes for a lazy, occasionally aggressive and grumpy chimera animal that sheds. Everywhere. She names him Grape.

Persi herself doesn’t like to fight (doesn’t like to get sweaty...) but she’s pretty great with tech! She kinda sucks at things her species is inherently good at- she hates flying because she’s bad with heights, and can never teleport properly (going to the wrong place almost every time...)

When Ryou lets the girls in, he’s talking to the girls and brings out a needle so they can run tests on Persimmon— if she’s going to be on Earth, they need to know the basics about her species and how to patch her up. Grape, her pet chimera animal freaks out, thinking they’ll hurt her— and goes on a rampage.

In the chaos Mira finds Aqua, the robotic mew mew in a secret room, along with DNA of endangered animals that’s used for making mews. Confused but a very intrigued by Aqua, who’s not powered on, she steps closer— and Grape smashes through the wall. She makes a snap decision to grab the nearest DNA and inject it— she’s always wanted to be a mew, after all- and being a huge believer in fate and superstition, she’s positive this is right to do.

While injecting herself, she reaches out for Aqua. Ryou and Keiichiro were struggling to activate her and the mew aqua they used to power her— but when Mira is being infused, something in her stirs and wakes her up. At the same time, Mira’s affected by the mew aqua and it allows the DNA to fuse properly despite her not being compatible like her mother was. However, the mew aqua’s effects are temporary and Ryou estimates she can transform into Mew Miracle Berry maybe 20-30 times before it runs out and shes powerless again. And Persimmon tells them Queen plans to end all human life in exactly a year; so there’s a huge looming countdown.

Oh, also, Mira’s new DNA. It’s not cat DNA. It’s the DNA of the wooly paramo donkey. And her outfit isn’t pink. She’s pretty upset.

Aqua is a total powerhouse! She’s pink and a cat and a super powerful robot who can fly and is basically powered by magic, and is sweet and polite and VERY cute. Mira can’t decide if she wants to BE her or wants to kiss her.

Mira is not straight.

Mira and Persimmon go to Mira’s house, reluctantly telling Ichigo what happened— and Ichigo tells them Masaya is in the hospital. Of course Mira panics, but Ichigo says it’s nothing serious. The reason he’s in there is because Ryou was doing a test to make sure no mew aqua lingered in his body (they needed all the power they could get if aliens were about to invade again—) and the procedure was Overwhelming (but he didn’t have any! A.. good sign?) . They don’t tell Mira this because she had no idea he was host to Deep Blue The Evil Alien God and that’s a Whole Thing.

At the hospital, they encounter an Alien trying to test the same thing, and she gets violent when they try and stop her. Persimmon informs them that that’s Sapote, her cousin who works under Queen as basically a henchman. Sapote transforms into a moth mew mew, surprising everyone— everyone was under the impression that only humans could be mews. The formula, when incompatible like it actually is with both Sapote and Mira, can have Very nasty side effects.

There’s a human mew with Sapote at the hospital, working for the aliens. She’s infused with a snake, and seems to have it out for Mira specifically. Mira’s very excited to have a cute rival because now she feels even more like an official magical girl. Aqua and Persimmon are wondering why a human is working under Queen to help destroy the Earth... A lot of Mystery from the girl that calls herself Cara!

Sapote and Cara usually show up to do Queen’s bidding, but when things are serious, one of the four generals under Queen steps in.

Queen herself makes few public appearances on the ship. She’s usually in the lab; she’s a woman of science, and says while Deep Blue existed, she doesn’t believe he was a God and rolls her eyes at people who put their faith in him still after he was defeated.

The sect that stayed in the caves back on their planet was a borderline cult for him that believed the mews to be demons, and believed that DB will have a second coming and clean the Earth of its humans for them. These people disagree with Queen because they believe her arrogant and say it’s not her place to do his work or lead them in his place. She’s pretty sure DB is long dead and has most of them locked up for rebelling.

(Although! One of her generals is one of these DB cultists! She approached them to ask them to join her because they’re a great fighter and would be a huge asset; they agreed quickly and peacefully, stating that everything that happens is fate and that this will surely lead them to DB so they can serve him. Queen politely tolerates this with a smile but is internally rolling her pretty eyes.

Not all of the rebellious aliens are cultists ofc! Most of them are normal people who know the mews helped them and that if nothing else, they could try and coexist on Earth together with them rather than kill...all of them...)

Mira keeps having a reoccurring dream (for a year leading up to when canon starts) about a city burning down, a heroine in front of her who is a cat mew mew she’s never seen protecting her, and the piercing eyes of... someone? Watching them. Mira always woke up before anything happened, but the night after being infused, the cat girl is able to turn and speak to her. She tells Mira she’s here to be her knight and protect her, and Mira is like WHAT!!! She gives her the name Masayume Hira, but Mira can’t find any records of anyone with that name, and she only appears to her in dreams, helping here and there and giving hints.

From here, the story goes on. Persimmon lives with Mira, the three girls become better friends through fights and bonding and blood, sweat and tears together. They struggle with the personas they put on and the secrets they each keep, and try and fight the aliens together while not always getting along, racing against the clock before Queen destroys all humans, and before they hit the limits with Mira's mew powers.

🍓🐈‍⬛So... where are all the OG mews? What’re they up to? Well...🐈‍⬛🍓

Ichigo and Masaya run a conservation center for wildlife together! They constantly are taking in new pets for fostering, but they have several dogs and cats permanently. The dogs are 100% masayas dogs really, Ichigo dotes on the cats.. (theyre big slobbery friendly dogs, so friendly to her too, but like. You Know who’s the dogs favorites are) Mira is a little nervous around big animals and has mild allergies, but she does have a pet snake! Anyway Ichigo and Masaya are still madly in love and Are That Couple.

Keiichiro is still helping Ryou with the mew project (or project tm2..) but lives with his wife (an oc..who loves his cooking lol) Ryou still lives at the cafe but has expanded it; Aqua stays in his old room at the top :)

Kisshu is In Jail from Queen. Of course he’d openly disagree with her wanting to kill all the humans— him getting jailed and captured was part of a decoy to help Persimmon escape! :’)

I..have honestly not decided where to put Pai in the story. Queen would want him to help her (both smart, she'd look up to him I imagine bc she sees the og 3 aliens as people who took down DB, who she doesnt care for..and shes all for Science.) but I dont see him agreeing at all with her ideals (probably, he sees a lot of his own past mistakes in her) so hes. maybe in jail with kisshu rn...? It’s actually undecided 🤷

Mint and Kanna (...redhead richgirl from (1) ep of the anime...) are business partners and wives too. Mint owns a ballet school and Kanna has a tea company. They’re very rich lesbians basically :P no kids, and they like it that way.

Zakuro is a actress still but lives in America and has become basically hyper-famous but also kinda reclusive to everyone but the mews. She has a daughter who’s 16 and adopted!

Retatsu is a art teacher for school children and lives close by the ocean, constantly volunteering for sea conservation programs!

Ringo runs her islands conservation efforts (partners with ichigo and masayas program! ) And basically acts as a park ranger!

Berry has a clothing line with zakuro backing it, Tasuku is a stay at home dad for their two kids who are still 9-10! They live in France!

Ichigo and Pudding are still really close because their kids are bffs! Mira’s best friend is the son of Pudding and Taruto whos on Earth full time and Has Been for a while. Although their family moved to China for Yue-Bing’s studies recently!

Pudding and Taruto have a house in both China and Japan, they actually live pretty off the grid (alien on earth..gotta keep kinda a low profile) they make money from Taruto’s gardening and when Pudding’s dad passed she inherited a good bit of money!

On Team Earth Mira is the only human. (I mean. mew too but. theres an alien and a robot) And they all feel so. alienated from each other in their own ways.. Persi is on a different planet desperately trying to fit in and act nonchalant about it...like keep up the Coolgirl act. SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN INVASION, SAW SEVERAL LOVED ONES DIE. AND she’s trying to be a normal Teen Girl while knowing full well shes the only one from the resistance against queen who made it to Earth and feeling grossly underqualified for that..worrying abt her friends who did get captured..etc..

Aqua knowing full well she'll outlive all her friends, and struggling with that...but being programmed to be looking cheerful and useful around humans.. Quietly carrying the burden alone, knowing if they dont stop these aliens that she'll be the lone survivor bc of how sturdy shes built...

And Mira’s Whole Thing of wanting to be like her mom SO bad. wanting to be a magical girl bc she cant figure out anything else, and any future beyond that seems bleak to her and she has No Real Life Plans beyond that (and 100% will have a crisis about that--)

On the flipside Cara is the only human on the spaceship, feeling alienated too..constantly being talked down to by everyone besides Sapote and desperately struggling for her own goals. Sapote is also working under Queen for personal reasons but has basically agreed to be a guinea pig for the mew trials Queen is testing for aliens.

all these girls got HEAVY STUFF but they have each other and make a lil family— it's all very dramatic and tender. It deals a lot with family, and different dynamics of it, found family and birth families! And themes of friendship ofc, it's a mg series!
