&& without a fair warning or even the intention to make her presence known to the other , she taps her shoulders , palm flattened , fingers thin && agile . there must be something on her mind for why else would she look so lost and completely DOWNTRODDEN ? fleur knows how to excite people for something , so she sure as hell will find a way to brighten up this girlās day . perhaps, sheās just a tad T O O enthusiastic this time ā¦
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Hey now, whatās that long face for ? Yā having any trouble with something ? ⦠or s o m e o n e ? ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Feeling the foreign yet soft touch of a second person, Jodie jumped the faintest bit, fitful sighs escaping her before she realized that one of the other recruits had approached her position almost soundlessly. Sheād preferred to be alone, at least for a while, but apparently people were by far more obliging ( or o b t r u s i v e, whichever way you wanna put it ) today than usual. And with her current, glumly exterior, it shouldnāt surprise her all too much that sheās attracting some of the attention, if entirely ( UNWANTED ).
Ā Ā Ā Ā With cloudy eyes, she peered up, neck craned the slightest bit. Sheās not in the greatest of moods right now and certainly not motivated to talk it out but, what can she do to escape this now? She didnāt want to sound rude and shoo her off, thatās for sure.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā What⦠makes you think I have? Because Iām here, all on my lonesome, the only one whoās not grinning the grief away? ā, she asked, her voice stern and a lot more expressional than sheād thought itād be.

( āæ ) ~ A hiss escaped her when the girl beside her kicked at the dirt because, unfortunately, it had not only been the floorboards but something else she stepped onto so nonchalatnly; an apple. ISAāS apple, to be more precise. She was still going to eat it, of course.
ā Ey, careful where ya aiminā that foot at, girl! Some people would still like to enjoy their food. Jeez, is a little bit of attention reaaally too much to ask?? ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Until now, it hadnāt really occured to Jodie that sheād been kicking around a spherically shaped object that was NOT a stone the entire time, but an actual fruit, an apple, and it apparently belonged to somebody. Wincing inwardly, the brunette raised her head, staring at the redhead before her whoād addressed her so unforeseen. Sheād tried everything to stay unobtrusive to everyone around her, a grey speck against concrete walls, someone no one would really care for, or even rudimentarily appreciate. Yet, sheās there, that girl, yelling and unmistakably agitated. A pain in the ass. Jodie tried her best not to shout back, though. After all, the other was right. She couldāve been a little more careful.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ( Maybe next time. )
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā This... is yours? ā, she asked after picking the apple up, her maroon eyes scanning its red and dusky shell, a finger tapping the silhouette. A very ripe piece. Maybe a little bit due, too. Dirt partially covered the slick surface, a few dents here and there. Yet she insisted on having it back. ā Sorry. Iāve been... a little absent. Distracted by ( STUFF ). You sure you still wanna eat that, though? ā

Kicking at the dirt, the young brunette heaved an exasperated sigh which she'd been holding in for quite some time now. The relief was only of mild nature, however, because you could clearly see that she was still upset about ( s o m e t h i n g ).

Ā Ā Ā Ā She hesitated a moment, trying to collect her wishy-washy thoughts and the things, that happened before ending up here. Since the days she had spent here felt like any other, she kind of lost her sense of time and therefore...couldn't give him a straight answer. "I...don't know. Maybe since a few days, or maybe for weeks. I kind of...lost the track.", she explained, having an uncertain just as rattled kind of glance in her eyes, staring at the cup of hot chocolate. Yeah, Jodie somehow felt ashamed to talk about it with someone else. It was devastating to face the truth, the deep end she had reached in her life at such a young age.
Ā Ā Ā Ā "Sounds like my whole life story thus far..." Her voice sounded teasing, mixed with a slight hint of bitter sarcasm -- she didn't mean no offense with that, though. "Say, why...do you help me? Why playing the good Samaritan? I mean, you could just walk away and ignore me, like everyone else."

Breaking the Ice || Jodie & Raiden
{{ ~ shortened ~ }}
The cold stain of an eye flickered up when the other cradled the cup within her hands as if sheād try to suck out the warmth of the chocolaty drink with the help of her fingertips, a sip soon following. Funny to watch how much just a small cup of a drink could actually ensure, turning these chapped pale lips upside again with such ease. She seemed happy and that ⦠somehow forced his inwards to gleam in a [ happy ] fashion as well.
Ā Ā Ā Ā āĀ Mind telling me how long youāve been out in the cold and homeless by now? ā, came his raspy question, a single, metal-clawed digit surfing over the sleek rim of his own cup, an unwritten sense of fear still keeping him off from drinking it. And despite his voice being vigorous and usually outstanding, the ring of it easily got drowned out by the loud chattering noises of the audience in the back; some of them jabbering louder than others. Even if he wouldnāt want to hear their gibberish, itād still be an easy thing to harken and catch it all. That was the only downside about being in this cafĆ©. The rest was ⦠comfortable, expectably good.
For now, the offer he had given her was shoved aside, however. He didnāt really care, nor felt angered about it. There was no need to rush things, theyāve merely arrived here so, thereās still plenty of time for her to decide whether or not accepting it. Raiden was a patient man. Well, at least in that matter. On businesswise occassions, however, heās not so sure ⦠Her question caused his lips to part from his skull-like teeth short time, sequence of sighing breaths issuing forth like a cold, dead breeze. If she wouldnāt feel like answering his question, heād be able to relate because, right now, he as well didnāt seriously feel like throwing bones to feed the puppy. Some things just [ werenāt ] mean to be brought into the open ā his past was one of those things.
Ā Ā Ā Ā āĀ Letās just say Iāve ⦠grown up in the wrong place at the wrong time.Ā ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Her head rested upon the firm grip of her palm and her sight's directed towards the windows across the other, thoughts hanging onto yesterdays and the days before. All those weeks and months she'd been running and pretending to be alright and fine when in truth she felt completely left out by the people around her, treated like a goddamn freak with superpowers. She's different, of course, and she in fact knew how odd it must've sound to anyone that she's able to speak with beings and entities that are existent, but not perceivable for the regular human sight. Aiden's been there since the very day she's born and hadn't left her side ever since. She got used to it quickly, cursed him here and there but really appreciated his company. She'd be so lonely without him. Lost. But maybe, seein it from another angle, growing up without these 'powers', her life could've been a whole lot easier. She liked to believe that sometimes.
Ā Ā Ā Ā She did not answer for a while, merely shrugged her shoulders and continued the staring at this one, invisible spot straight at the distance. He could relate? Maybe, and maybe not. He hadn't been in her shoes -- and so had she never been in his. They'd never be able to feel what the other's been through. "Fate's fate. We can't change or decide it on our own, just endure it the way it strikes us. And, I guess I've made some progress in growing stronger through these months."

The cushioned upholstery hissed and squeaked another time and created a faint wave when Jodie bumped down right next to him, adjusting a comfortable position. She probably felt relaxed now, unbent from the tension her legs had created during the time she mingled around, doing nothing. He himself, however would only share a long and almost completely forgotten memory with her. These muscles and fibres were artificial, could last for days and weeks in an upright stance, without even flinching or twitching the faintest bit. They didnāt scream the sound of strain any longer, nor would they break beyond repairment. Everythingās replacable as it is now, adaptive to his physiques, his body. Itās merely a matter of time and contribution. All heād need to worry about. But thereās also something else he feared, worse than any pain in the world or death itself. Something, that ran deeper than skin, lying deep within. It was non-physical, had manifested and wormed its way into his skull a pretty long time ago, slowly eating away whatās holding the strings of a brittle sanity. The form and shape of it was as clear as daylight for his eyes to perceive, but he didnāt dare to speak it out loud, fearing that it might come done to it if heād give it the grand kiss of death. Instead, he gorged himself on his own, buried worries once anew, leaving them as they were. Defibering him from the core. Obviously, Jodie was the same. She feared the same thing he did because theyād both witnessed its enfolding severity. Birds of the fucked feather.
A brief glance is offered and the movie box jumps from one, deadly-clawed hand to the other as if heās trying to perform a juggling. Heād done better already, no doubt about it.
ā Mustāve been ⦠tough, hasnāt it. I can relate. ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā A smile spread along her lips and she watched him cradling the movie boxes like they were precious to him. It's funny to see that a man of his appearance actually loved watching movies. And they shared the same taste, too so... it couldn't be more perfect right now. Nonchalantly, she joined him and flopped into the couch with a squeak, her petite frame bouncing up.
Ā Ā Ā Ā "Yeah, that's true. But, like you said, it's nice to watch anyway. Especially if you're not all on your own like I used to."

Sleek chrome slithered over the coverās front section, tapping along the oblong frame and rims of the shopworn plastic jacket until his unbound eye began to scan the imprinted font, skipping through the lines precipitant. He may remembered the title and the content of the package itself, or rather, bits and pieces of it, but itās truly been a while since heād last mustered up some time for his most favourite hobbyĀ : Movies. He liked to reminisce the good times heād spent with Rose all these years, through good and through bad in spite of all the misery sheād put him through along the way. Staying up late and talking all night, in a dark room lit by nothing but the TV light ā those nights had kept him alive. Those memories tended to spark an almost dreamful smile on his face and caused a thin line of flesh to curve, inch by inch. Times had been better for him already, if only i l l u s i o n a r y.
Seizing the box of the movie and pulling it out of her grip, the heavily cybernetic man set into motion, although there was no whirring of mechanical parts as he swung his legs past her docile frame, heading for the couch nearby where he flopped into the hissing cushion and nearly conflated with the greyish upholstery around him. āScreamā she said? Oh Jodie really shouldnāt get him started with movies ā conversations such as these mostly tended to end up in an endless spiral of argumentation and a lot of digging in his own heels. Sheād see for herself ⦠and very likely [ regret ] it. Plus heās surprised she actually remembered the food part and the very reason why heās unable to join her in scoffing some pizza. Not like he wanted it this way but thatās how things were. Unfair and cruel.
ā Yep, I strongly advise you to not ever try them out of some act of courtesy or stupid curiosity. Taste like shit, as dry as a chalk. Youāre not missing anything. ā And āScreamā ās a way too overrated movie, if you ask me⦠. still a nice entertainment, I suppose. Wanna watch that one, too? ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Rubbing her fingers together as an attempt to create warmth for herself to keep her body from freezing in this bitterish deafening cold, Jodie kept her sight locked onto the man's tall features before her, eyes not shifting or blinking for longer than three minutes. The snow made her feel dead in a sene, stiff like a statue, inable to properly move like she wanted to. It's been like this for days now. Just horrible, a nightmare coming true. All she had was a half broken guitar, old, outworn clothes and a ghostly presence floating around her. All those things didn't seriously do much to make her miserable situation more bearable, however. And now, that she's been informed about a serial killer walking free around this city, she felt all the more uneasy, despite the knack for boys that killer obviously had. You never know who these psychopaths are gonna pick next. She'd learned with time to never feel too secure, no matter what because life tended to fuck things up and strike at any possible time again. Swallowing a bit of worry and despair for the poor kids, Jodie looked down and observed the flakes blending with the snow to her feet.
Ā Ā Ā Ā "I... I see. I'm sorry to hear that. And I also feel sorry for those poor little boys. But, for how long has this mysterious killer really been on the run now?"

Keeping in a shivering and plagued sound of noise, Jayden blew some of his hot breath into his palms, rubbing them together frantically to create at least a small tad of heat to keep himself warm and steeled from the cold. Didnāt really work out that well, though because once he stopped, the embrace of winter came back just a few seconds later, causing his teeth to chatter shallowly. Hard to believe she survived on the outside for so long. She hadnāt mentioned anything about it but, judging by the way she sat here and begged for money, it was [ hard ] not to grasp and conclude that she was yet another homeless. Poor thing.
"Ah, right. My mistake. Though, there are TVās spread all over the city, in the windows. And as far as I know, they play nothing but the News all day long.", came his explanation, a shrug following his words all while his hands slipped back into the pockets of his coat. Didnāt do much to rehash them, though. Concerning the [ 'Origami Killer' ] case, he gave a brief nod, mulling over the right words to explain the whole deal without giving out too much. āSo far, yes. Heās been kidnapping kids at the age between six and ten years. Solely boys. And after the kids went missing, their dads disappeared as well. The motives remain a mystery but ⦠donāt worry about it. The police and the FBI will solve it and guarantee absolute safety.ā Or so he [ hoped ].

Ā Ā Ā Ā Okay. Now things really turned out to be more awkward than ever. Why was it always time for Aiden to strike and fool around when anyone else was in close vicinity or even talking to her strictly? It's hard to figure her ghostly partner out sometimes -- but she'd still be nothing without him, despite all the cursing and moaning she did when he just started to fuck things up again. Well, at least you're invisible to everyone else around here but I can't just flip a button and disappear, ok? I have to deal with the shit you're causing me Aiden so please, for the love of God, keep calm and quiet for once. An inward sigh followed and she shut her eyes, looking up at the man before her a few moments later.
Ā Ā Ā Ā "Probably. But, w-well... you do seem exhausted, Mister. Maybe you should lay low for a while."
Upon further notice and the mindful observance of her facial expression, Sebastian quickly realized that there was something incredibly fishy and odd about her explanation. The way her lips twitched, how her irids began to widen when being confronted with his words and the slight stammering were all indication enough for him to anticipate that she probably was hiding something from him, nor was she telling the truth. Itās odd enough to believe that the cup behind her had started to move without anyone touching it ā but her reacting so ācaughtā made it all the more suspicious, almost ⦠real.
Lips pursed and released a few muffled breaths, wary eyes shifting from her frame over to the table where the very center of their current conversation rested. It could be her lying to him, which was kind of obvious, but he knew he hadnāt been in the rightest state of mind lately just as well.
ā You havenāt? ⦠Hm. Maybe Iām just losing my mind then. It seemed so real. ā
