Starting to get worried about my daughter. I think I need to change the pot for it to be a more water draining pot and change the soil to have more perlite so water can drain easily to prevent root rot. Once root rot happens, there’s no going back 😬

My tropical indoor plants update! They are growing fast 💨 Blushing bride is losing her color because of the heat. Cooler temperatures will get its blush back 👛

Okay I’m getting kind of nervous nowadays because some say the pink leaves are chemically treated while some say it’s not. I think it’s not. My wishful thinking tries to tell me it’s not also Chat says:
1. Natural Color Patterns
The pink and cream variegation on your plant is even and symmetrical, not blotchy or patchy.
Chemically bleached plants often show irregular discoloration, with burn marks, grayish fading, or tissue damage.
Yours has vibrant, healthy hues, especially on new growth — that’s a good sign of natural pigmentation.
2. Healthy Leaf Texture
Your leaves look thick, plump, and slightly glossy, which is typical of healthy Portulacaria afra.
Chemically treated succulents often have shriveled, translucent, or paper-thin leaves due to cell damage.
3. Growth Pattern
New shoots and tips show consistent pink variegation, which suggests genetic variation, not dye or bleach.
If a plant were artificially colored or bleached, new growth would usually come out normal green, unless repeatedly treated (which your plant shows no sign of).
4. Potting & Environment
The soil and pebbles look well-draining and succulent-appropriate.
The plant is near a bright window — ideal for bringing out pink variegation in this species.
Final thought:
You have a naturally variegated Pink Rainbow Elephant Bush, and it looks beautifully well cared for. If you’re still unsure, you can monitor new growth: if it continues to produce pink-and-cream leaves, that’s 100% natural.
I observe new growth each day, and the new leaves that are emerging are pink. I decided to water it every 23rd of each month. Once a month, not once two weeks each everyone recommends because the more you stress Pixie (name I gave 😆) it will maintain its pink color: the less you water, the cooler (it prefers hotter environment), more indirect sunlight.

Pink jade update 🎀 I was afraid, from reading things online about this plant, that it wouldn’t be able to survive. It’s only been like three or four days, so I can’t be so reassured, but today I could see new pink baby leaves growing, which made me very happy. My mom wanted to leave it out in the living room with her own plants because wind blows there. I keep my door and windows closed, so it wouldn’t get much air in my room. But once I did that it didnt feel good at all. Like it’s my baby, and when it was in my room I felt happy and filled. But to see it with other plants, I felt like I was abandoning it and not giving as much love. Reminded me of the Little Prince quote, "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed". So I started opening my windows and kept it in my room, which also helped me get out of bed in the morning and feel alive.

Just got these beauty for $60. Medium~difficult care. If the environment does not mimic Africa’s (+10 hours of indirect sunlight, water once a month, dry and airy), will not survive. UV light is recommended. Difficult to maintain the pink.
It’s called Elephant Bush or Pink Jade.
