Today in school, I realized how much I hate everything.

I was the first one who finally dared to speak out against our government. I cried and asked others, "How can you act that everything is normal?" Because how can they when so many people are dying? How can you come to this school and act like nothing is wrong in your country?

And you know what? None of them actually cared. Some asked me about how I was, but I didn't need their pity. I needed them to care about our people, I needed them to stand by me, and they didn't.

I felt shame burning me from the inside. Not because I cried like a baby, or that no one defended me. I felt ashamed because I suddenly realized what kind of people I'm studying with. The kind who don't care about anyone but themselves. The kind that aren't brave like the ones who were.

I feel ashamed to be living in this country, with these people.

And you know what makes me so angry? That they don't deserve anything. The protestors that have been tortured, raped or killed deserved so much better than fighting for this country and people. So many people are still quiet and that is the saddest part. They are cowards.

The silence is killing me. One day, they might take my voice away too, just like Nika, Sarina, Hadis... I will die and just like today in school, no one would care. No one would speak up for me. These sacrifices are for nothing.

Gia and elijah for the ask game

What made you ship it?

I have to admit, I didn’t ship Gia and Elijah in the beginning, I started shipping them on rewatch.

Elijah is someone who likes ‘fixing’ people, and Gia is someone who’s never known the unconditional love of family. In helping Gia adjust, Elijah starts becoming a little more focused on himself, intentional or not, helping Gia helps him adjust to the reality of Hayley moving on and finding some peace. For Gia, she’s aware of Elijah’s love for Hayley, but she understands that his feelings for her aren’t entangled with Hayley, and in being with him, she gets the kind of devotion she’s never experienced before.

What are your favourite things about this ship?

Gia is probably the only person in Elijah’s life who understands his needs and is able to prioritise them, but she doesn’t do it at her own expense, which I love. Elijah helps Gia through a transitional phase in her life and helps her find her feet when previously, she wasn’t sure where she belonged. Also that Gia knows Elijah will prioritise his family and doesn’t begrudge him for it, nor does she make him choose between her and them.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I guess that it should’ve been endgame. I’m a multi-shipper, so it’s not like I don’t like Haylijah, I just think that Elijah and Gia probably had one of the most healthiest dynamics on the show.

guys remember how Jacks called Tella "pet" in the Caraval trilogy, then after a while started calling her "love" when he knew she was his true love? well as much as I love the nickname "Little Fox", we see Jacks call Evangeline by her real name... and even one time by "love".

which is what he started calling Tella after he knew she was his true love. I know he wasn't 100% moved on from Tella seeing as he still wanted to go back for her BUT I can tell he wasn't as sure about Tella in this book as in the previous books.

I've lost all my respect for Muslims.

I used to think— that understanding them and respecting their choices matters. That people should have their freedom, should have the choice whether they want to believe in the "God" or not. Have the choice to wear hijab or not.

In the end, we're all just humans.

But then I see how y'all spread lies about my people, my country, how y'all accuse the protestors of being terrorists and attacking shias. Sounds so familiar, because it's just exactly the lies thst Iran's government has been feeding everyone for years.

Y'all accuse protestors of burning Qurans, forcing Muslim women to take off their hijab, burning ambulances... and I just— I can't breathe because of the audacity y'all have. The audacity to accuse MY PEOPLE of being terrorists??? My people, that are risking their LIVES because our "morality police" has beat one woman to DEATH for NOTHING? And you know how many others have they killed by now? Women AND men?

You know who burns Qurans? The government itself sends private agents to burn them and manipulate the media into thinking the protestors are just "anti Islam" and you know what? You are stupid enough to believe it.

You know why the protestors had to burn ambulances? Because the police are using those to arrest our people. The police has arrested at least 300 of the protestors with those DAMN AMBULANCES till now... and y'all accuse our innocent people of attacking Muslims? How selfish can you be to play the victim card here and make everything about yourselves?

My people are NOT fighting against Islam. They're fighting because they want the basic damn choice to live however the fuck they want. They're fighting for their fcking civil rights. Many of the protestors DO wear hijab— none of them has attacked anyone for being Muslim!!

I don't usually post about these matters but today I can't let the platforms i have being kept useless.

Mahsa Amini the 22 y/o girl has been beaten up to death by hijab polices of Iran for not having "proper" hijab. She passed away some hours ago. While the world is trying to normalise hijab, all the brutal actions that are being made under the name of Islam in Iran are being kept silenced and ignored by the world and medias in order to keep themselves safe from the label "islamphobic".

Hear our voice, this is the reality of Iran.

also, thank you thank you for saying that, it means so much to me that you love this fic and have read it multiple times!!!!

1. What inspired you to write the fic this way?

For a long time, it was my habit in December to give myself a break from FE, which is kind of a high pressure situation for me, and take on a short Christmas project as a way to have some fun writing, update frequently (therefore increasing frequency of reviews/dopamine hits), and just to do something really low pressure. So, the idea with SWBS (and Love Bites) was basically to just sit down, write, and publish the first draft of each short chapter as is and not sweat too much over revising or being compulsive about the plot and narrative. I remember starting like five or six different fics/premises out before I hit on this one-- the tone and the mood of it started off as very dark and brooding, which was unfortunately addictive to write, oops. I also remember thinking about writing a "Christmas fic" the way that The Quick and The Dead is a Halloween fic, and mulling over what that might mean-- and so I was thinking, well, what does Christmas boil down to? And I almost immediately thought, virgin birth, and of course, the idea of Klaus getting Elena pregnant but everyone assuming it was magical/there was no father flashed across my mind and made me laugh out loud, so I knew I had to write it. Because also we must write the stories we wish to see in the world.

7. Where did the title come from?

It's a riff on my favorite hymn, O Holy Night

"a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices"-- that theme of hope in weary the darkness really gets me

I unintentionally changed the tense; which I actually rather like with the (parentheses) because it almost makes the title sound like an aside, or something said quietly, under the breath, when I say it in my head

9. Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

Not really-- I wrote a lot of this without knowing where it was going except for some very general things until near the end of the fic when I sat down and outlined so that the salient plot points could come together
