Oh, and Kaiser must travel back in time and re-create all of Harry Potter so it isn’t written by like the worst person ever. I just know Ness made Harry Potter his whole personality for at least 3 years straight. Is this even a debate? We just know.

Anyhow, it’s crazy how a couple of good analysis on Twitter and YouTube can change my mind so completely about two characters.

Less than a month ago I was completely indifferent. Despite how I always thought Kaiser’s design was stellar and felt sad for Ness, I was never invested enough to make art for them. Like they’re pretty boys, that’s mega cool, but they’re not my Bachira.

Now I adore the heck outta them.

I think it’ll take time, and it’s for the best that bllk is fiction, but I think they can become good for each other.

Kaiser needs someone like Ness who’s still able to dream. Considering how abuse has made concepts like wanting love and freedom feel like chasing the impossible. And Ness deserves someone who can make his dreams real after years of getting put down by people who were supposed to love him.

Idk I like them. Isagi dismantling their entire world was the best thing that could’ve happened.

Kaiser makes me so sad some times. While I always thought his backstory was depicted as cartoonishly terrible and sad, I always felt how the abuse was written to affect how he felt about himself and approached life was incredibly realistic. Ness too, but slightly to the left.

May they proceed to do goofy and silly things together forever.

Could Snuffy adopt them? Lorenzo would be a great brother. Fuck Noa, we can make this work- I need Kaiser getting parented fics bro everyone just wants to fuck him.

To explain the comic!

I'm in love with the idea of Kagami giving Kuroko his spare key and Kuroko and the GOM just taking every opportunity to be in his house for no reason.

My brain is so dead rn cause I rushed this art cause my unruly ass should be STUDYING.

But it's so funny trust me please. The vision.

Kagami gets home from a hard day and it's just Kuroko and Kise having a messy divorce in his living room with Midorima as prosecution vs Aomine as defense, Akashi as the eerie judge, Atsushi as the very obvious murderer, and Momoi as the jury.

Like it's so bad, Kuroko and co does hooliganism in Kagami's house without bro being invited half the time.

And - soft pause. While Kagami openly protests as he starts seeing Kuroko and stupid (Aomine) and stupid (Momoi) and stupid (Midorima) and stupid (Kise) and stupid (Atsushi) and slightly less stupid (Akashi) in his house more often than not.

He secretly finds comfort in coming home to someone again. And not just an empty space.

He gave Kuroko the key to kinda express in his emotionally stunted way that Kuroko is always welcome and thought of and not completely invisible. He complains but he doesn't actually regret it. They adore each other. THE END.

Let’s discuss my changes…

Kuroko: The “kuro” part of his name means black. Get it? Cause he’s a shadow. Despite this, there wasn’t a drop black in sight within his design and I felt his entire theme could be better reinforced if there was some. So I made his eyes super stare-into-your-soul dark and some ombré. Maybe it would be more meaningful if his hair was black but he dyed it blue? Maybe to show he wasn’t really innately gifted like the rest of the GOM?

Kise: Models are an excuse to make the prettiest boys. His glasses form a C & V shape cause control C, control V — lmao I’m so clever. The idea is he wears different color glasses throughout the series and the color of the GOM he copies is their color for that ep. Or maybe the lenses flash the color of the GOM he chooses to copy. Why is he wearing accessories on court? Anime.

Midorima: His moles on his face form the Cancer constellation. Takao would notice and trace it 💖. With sharpie 💖.

Murasakibara: Lazy shark boy idk. He sounds like a surfer in the dub and it adds more variety. Maybe it’ll change.

Aomine: The idea is that he dyed his hair a brighter blue in the good Teiko days but as he gradually grew apathetic towards basketball he never bothered to keep dying it. So the bright blue color kept fading to reveal its bleached parts. There’s a metaphor for depression in this bitch somewhere. You can’t see it here but the idea is to make him the dragon to Kagami’s tiger. Cause mythic rivals and such. He gets a dragon tattoo on his leg and Kagami has a tiger on his back. The character sheets (one day lol) will help.

Momoi: Gets glasses cause they’re cute. Plus smart glasses wearing anime girl trope. Momoi is critically underused in the series and underrated in this fandom. She literally has a supercomputer for a brain and instead of taking over the world, she’s wrecking everyone’s bball kits and she’s so powerful for that. She should’ve been a bigger obstacle in the anime.

Akashi: After both of his sides merge or after the Winter Cup — one of em, he gets central heterochromia. I never liked how he lost all of the yellow. It was too iconic.

Kagami: Undercut cause we steal Itadori’s whole flow. Shaved sides for extra tiger stripes. And a scar to show where Akashi sliced him during their very dramatic scissor confrontation (moved it from his cheek though). He used to have a mullet to match Himuro but cut it off after their fall out. I love little design changes that follow as a character changes. I’d love to make a comic exploring Taiga and Himuro’s relationship. I’d make it full of heart ache and would dub it “Stripes.”

Anywho! I hope this helps satiate you all for now. I tried to plan this in a way where no matter who’s your fav team, you got a little something. I’m gonna be busy for a WHILE, so we’ll see when I’m able to get back into it.

Very slight edits for Kojiro and Itsuki. I can’t move on from something unless I’m mostly satisfied so I had to make some edits before I make anything else for KNB.

I haven’t forgot about y’all. Promise! Life. Is. Just…. Gestures wildly….

Side note. I love redesigning side characters but I gotta hit up the main teams at this rate cause I might just run outta good ideas… I’m going through drafts but I like posting whole teams or at least logical duos.

I’m glad you get me, homie. I need more characters from the ppg world to come back in all the fics. Like pause on the gross teen hormones for a sec and give me the Fuzzy Lumpkins becomes a PE teacher and beefs with the boys constantly for stealing his house in the show arc. Or something juicy like Sedusa killing and replacing their home room teacher.

And idk I just drew Brick’s hair real short here. My designs and characterization for all of em fluctuate constantly. Here, I drew them so pretty you can almost be tricked into believing they both aren’t major idiots (with love). Happens.

Much like everyone else, I hate when fics focus solely on the Reds as if the other pairings aren’t as interesting or plot worthy but I also don’t think they’re as overrated as many seem to insist.

The ppg fandom is real interesting with its characterization of the girls and boys. I don’t necessarily think there’s many wrong takes because I don’t think anyone could argue they’re still the same person they were as a 5-year-old and so long as it’s entertaining I can’t seem to find the energy to mind (and if I do I do the responsible thing and click out).

Hell, some of my favorite takes are canonically skewed. Like Brick being a flawed but ultimately loving brother who basically had to sacrifice his childhood to parent Butch and Boomer. I don’t think I could be convinced canon Brick gives a single shit.

Side note, best ppg fics out there are the goats More Than Human by sbj and As Time Goes By by Carriedreamer. Big names known by the whole fandom and one’s sadly discontinued but still very fun reads. I prefer More Than Human’s whole vibe (idk feels real, the RRB were bound to be not become pleasant people) but As Time Goes By is the best at utilizing the series’ world to its full capacity in a way that’s never taken advantage of by other fics attempting the same concept. For a world as whimsical as the ppg world it’s often defaulted to highschool realism.

Basketball bad boys, anyone?

Yeah, so these are my Kirisaki Daiichi redesigns. The uncrowned kings and their respective squads have all the fun potential and I intend to use it.

Kirisaki Daiichi and Hanamiya being the most slept on team for character design of them all because you can’t make a canonical “bad boy” team and not have them be emo, goth, and punk for the funsies. For the visual “pen egg chest qua” (je ne sais quoi). For the fun, stereotypical edgelord flair we all deserve to indulge in every now and then.

Makoto’s og design simply didn’t scream spider enough for me and I was tired of so many key characters having this longish, same shade of black hair (him, Himuro, Mibuchi, etc). Like, I know giving the black and brown a colored tint can subtract from the uniqueness of the GOM, but not even a little? So, yeah, fuck allat, I’m using desaturated colors every now and then.

I also loved drawing Makoto in some casual clothes and much needed drip. Villains are required to serve most. I wanted to draw the rest of them in some casual outfits because trust Kojiro and honestly all of them dress immaculately but life and time restraints. Maybe later.

Story wise, each player and Makoto maybe have their own reasons for turning to hurting others through basketball and I hope you catch some of the story threads I threw in. Whether or not they deserve or have the capacity to change is entirely up to you all with Makoto having the most potential to be entirely complex or cartoonishly evil (I like both). I’m a sucker for a bit of character complexity and things that leave room for interpretation.

Sometimes knb can be very black and white in its themes…
