the hidden charms of affection
pairing: draco malfoy x pureblood!ravenclaw!fem!reader
summary: draco lucius malfoy becomes sentimental with his gifts on your birthday.
word count: 768 words
warnings: FLUFF, set during october - fifth year, one kiss...
author's note: might be a few mistakes and i know your middle name might not mean 'butterfly' but this is based off a scenario in my dr! ALSO, i get that canon draco would probably not do this (even though i think he's a romantic at heart because of astoria), BUT LET ME BE DELUSIONAL.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN you and Draco was unknown to you, him, and many other students at Hogwarts. You have been friends with him since childhood because your families were Sacred Twenty-Nine royalty. Although you didn’t hold the same prejudiced views as Draco, he still valued you as his closest friend. If it were anyone else, they’d be named blood traitors immediately.
Ironic, wasn’t it?
Today was your belated birthday. You received numerous greetings across your year and gifts from your closest friends—the Parvati twins, Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood, and others. Whilst you enjoyed these gifts, you were waiting for one in particular.
The sun had set quietly during the chilly evening as you stood in the courtyard wrapped in your mother’s knitted scarves. You hadn’t noticed the approaching figure behind you as you stared at the sky, trying to recognise the shapes the clouds formed as they faded.
“What do you see?” A voice spoke, interrupting your thoughts as you turned your head. Beside you was Draco Malfoy himself, wearing his staple black suit (the boy could never wear anything casual) with a smile across his lips. You smiled back, scrunching your nose as you sighed.
“I’ve lost my imagination because of bloody Umbridge,” you guffawed, causing Draco to laugh as you faced him entirely. “I haven’t seen you all day,” you continued, trying not to sound a little hurt as Draco met your gaze.
“Sorry, the post took a little longer than expected,” he replied, his expression apologetic as he pulled a box out of the inside of his blazer. You furrowed your eyebrows, meeting the black box with your gaze.
“What is this?” you asked, raising an eyebrow as you looked at him again. His blue eyes stared back at you, his face still engraved with a subtle grin.
“Well, I wanted to give you something personal this year,” he shrugged nonchalantly, glancing at the box before opening it. Inside was a silver sterling bracelet with a dragon charm in the middle. You widened your eyes, staring at him with amazement.
“H-how much did this cost?” you questioned, your tone baffled.
“It was nothing—”
“Draco
” your voice was stern as he sighed, smiling slightly.
“Around twenty-five Galleons?” he mumbled, scratching his neck as your jaw dropped, having the sudden urge to shove him.
“Draco Lucius Malfoy! Did you seriously spend that much on a bracelet for me?” You exclaimed, disbelieved as you stared at him.
“Come on, don’t you like it?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as he picked the bracelet up. You bit your bottom lip, taking the bracelet in your hands as you admired it, touching the dragon with your index finger.
“It’s beautiful,” you complimented, sounding defeated as you looked up, your lips curling. “Why would you spend so much, though?” you sighed whilst Draco tutted.
“It wasn’t that much,” he reassured, taking the bracelet. “Let me see your wrist,” he grinned as you complied, shaking your head as you warmed inside.
Draco clasped the bracelet around your wrist, the accessory being a perfect fit as his fingers brushed against your palm before he pulled away, leaving you to idolise the bracelet.
“There’s another thing.” Draco’s deep voice pulled you out of your head as you looked up, raising your eyebrows. He unrolled his sleeve, revealing a matching bracelet on his wrist as you gasped softly. However, instead of a dragon charm, he had a butterfly on his.
“Dragon for my name,” he began, his voice gentle as he brought his wrist closer to yours, “Butterfly for your middle name.” The two charms connected as you met his gaze, your eyes softening at his sentimentality as you stepped closer.
“I didn’t take you to be the sentimental type,” you muttered, teasing him as he playfully rolled his eyes.
“You deserve it,” he responded, looking down sheepishly. His cheeks faintly blushed under the setting sun as you smiled for the millionth time that evening.
You tilted his head up, hesitating before kissing his cheek tenderly, pulling away momentarily. Draco looked down at you, his lips parting as you both chuckled, the wind blowing softly around you as you were both lost for words.
“Happy birthday, [Y/N/N],” he said, his tone genuine. You were about to thank him, but you physically couldn’t speak because he had joined his lips with yours.
And, of course, you kissed back, smiling against his lips as he cupped your face, both of you filled with honest happiness.
Who cared if Filch’s screams were approaching you within mere moments? You finally had each other—and that’s all that mattered.

Rowena Ravenclaw (fl. c. 993) was a Scottish witch and one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was noted for her intelligence and creativity.
Ravenclaw died sometime in the eleventh century, after she fell fatally ill. Legend had it that a broken heart is the cause — because her daughter Helena ran away with her diadem. Rowena's portrait remains at Hogwarts.

Ravenclaw headcanons because there's not enough Ravenclaw on my dash
Padma sneaking Parvati into Ravenclaw Tower all the time and letting her stay in her dorm room because Parvati is allergic to Crookshanks.
Anthony and Terry arguing over which twin is who because they are known to switch ties all the time just to mess with everyone.
Cho organizing parties after every Quidditch match win or lose. Marietta taking care of food and drinks because she has “connections”.
“Connections” meaning she flirts with the Hufflepuffs because they have a secret easy access to the kitchens.
Luna’s things disappearing and then reappearing around the common room two months later. Her shoes tend to pop up elsewhere though.
Luna having thoughtful Saturday afternoon conversations with The Grey Lady about being dead.
Peeves bouncing around the common room for hours every single Tuesday night without fail and as a result the library stays open two hours longer than usual so the Ravenclaws can study.
Anthony spending more time doodling in his notebook than doing classwork and getting caught by McGonagall.
Su Li having an eagle owl that basically hates everyone and the entire Ravenclaw table knows to duck whenever they see it coming through the Great Hall because if you so much as look at it the wrong way it will go for your hair. Or your breakfast.
Terry never making it back to Ravenclaw Tower before curfew and getting into arguments with the Tower knocker because the questions become twice as difficult after curfew to discourage late night stragglers. Clearly it doesn’t work on him.
Every year after CoS, the Ravenclaws make bets on what sort of shit Harry Potter is going to get himself into. His fifth year Padma made a few Galleons off the fact that Loony Lovegood got mixed up in it.

midnight feasts and evening strolls — c.d.
Tumblr media
Summary: Aside from thinking up clever retorts to practically everything, you had always been quite fond of midnight feasts. Aside from being reduced to a blushing mess at said clever retorts, Cedric had always been quite fond of you.
Pairing: Cedric Diggory x fem!ravenclaw!reader
Word Count: ~4.1K
A/N: i'm so down bad for this man. possibly one of my most simple yet the most fun to write fics ever. i loved writing for cedric so expect a lottt more of that in the future!!! enjoy!
—
Cedric knew it was too good to be true when his midnight patrols were going a little too well.
It was eerily quiet in the castle, with Cedric producing the only sounds heard in the night. He hadn’t caught any students out of their dormitories tonight. A truly novel feat.
It wasn’t unusual for him to reprimand one or two lost first years nightly. Although, how they managed to be lost for two hours past curfew, he had no idea.
Partly surprised and partly pleased, he had made it all the way around the castle, on his way to the dungeons to finally call it a night. The soft rustling of his cloak against the stone floor soon came to a halt, however, when he heard a faint thud in the distance.
He exhaled deeply out of his nose before turning back the way he came to find the culprit. It really did seem too good to be true – and he was absolutely right. He would be catching a student tonight, after all.
He retraced his steps until he wasn’t even sure if he had actually heard anything or simply imagined the sound due to his recent lack of sleep. It certainly wouldn’t surprise him if it were the latter. He had a lot on his mind lately and while these midnight strolls usually seemed to clear his mind, they weren’t proving particularly helpful tonight.
Rubbing his sleepy eyes once, he decided that it really was too late tonight to chase a potentially imaginary student around the castle. He rounded a corner that he was pretty sure would lead him to the dungeons as you collided into his chest with a thud, dropping the contents of your hands.
“Shit!” you exclaimed as you bent down at once to recollect them all. The house elves were not going to be pleased to see you back at the kitchen doors for a second time tonight.
Finally overcoming his shock at encountering a strange girl with handfuls of biscuits, crisps and the occasional pastries, Cedric found his voice again. “Hey! It’s two hours past curfew. You’re not supposed to be here.”
“Pfft,” you excused his scolding without glancing up. “What are you going to do? Take five points from Ravenclaw? Go ahead. We’re too far ahead of every other house this year anyway.”
Cedric furrowed his brows as he blinked, taken aback and at a severe loss for words. Realization flooded his brain at once at your snarky remark and he exhaled again. Of course he had to run into you tonight, of all people.
You had earned quite a reputation in your year for your sharp tongue and even quicker wit. He couldn’t remember a single class in the past seven years of his Hogwarts career in which you hadn’t raised your hand politely to interrupt and correct whatever professor was giving the lecture. You had even done it to Snape a few times and Cedric had only been able to blink in stunned silence every time.
Though Cedric would never admit it, it was getting increasingly difficult to conceal the little crush he had developed on the pretty Ravenclaw girl that always had a clever quip on the tip of her tongue.
That very fact was evidenced by his odd behaviour tonight: he couldn’t help but remain standing awkwardly as he watched you gather your things on the cold stone floor, your hair illuminated by the moonlight pouring in through the castle windows and your robes impossibly ruffled after the collision.
As you finally turned your gaze upwards, standing back up and brushing your robe off, you raised your eyebrows in surprise. “Diggory?” You questioned in confusion.
“Er,” he began, trying his best to regain his composure. “Yes.” Cedric found himself thanking Merlin that you two were alone right now. His friends would never let him live this down if they were to see this. “What are you doing here, [Y/L/N]?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” you replied simply as your eyes roamed Cedric’s face. You had never seen him up close before, though all the girls in your year had made it a personal mission to do so at least once in their academic life. He was already impossibly dashing from afar but this was a different thing altogether. It was like he glowed.
“So you raided the kitchen?” he questioned as his lips tugged upwards slightly. He tried to ignore how his eyes seemed to catch on how you licked your lips as you thought of an answer or how your nose twitched at his attempt at humour.
“I couldn’t sleep and I was really hungry,” you amended with a quick roll of your eyes, which only made Cedric smile wider. He soon reigned it back, though. He really hoped you couldn’t see how hard he was trying to feign nonchalance. “I was just about to head back actually.” You clarified.
As you started to take a few steps forward, with your pile of snacks balanced haphazardly in your arms, a packet of crisps tumbled to the floor yet again, followed by multiple packets of cookies. You cast Cedric a sheepish look. Cedric cast you a thoroughly amused one.
With a fond smile still playing on his lips, he picked your snacks up from the floor, placing them back in your arms. It wasn’t long before they tumbled back to the floor. Cedric watched this with amusement, paying close attention at the huff you let out and the slight pout of your lips and the soft furrow in your brows and–
“Diggory?” You called expectantly.
He blinked a few times as you addressed him, his love-struck smile dropping altogether.  He wondered if he was supposed to know what to do at this moment. He opened his mouth to say something before closing it again.
You exhaled heavily. “Can you please walk me back? I can’t carry all this back myself and my wand is buried in my robe pockets.” You gestured to the fallen snacks on the floor. “Please?”
Cedric’s heart leaped at your request just as quickly as he bent down to pick your snacks up, giving you a small nod. “Yeah,” he finally let out. “Of course.”
He matched your pace as you two walked through the castle together, towards the Ravenclaw tower. It was, once again, eerily silent in the castle. Although, if someone were to ask Cedric, he’d complain of all the commotion his heart was making. He risked a few glances at you to make sure you couldn’t hear how loud it was beating.
“So,” he began, eager to fill the awkward silence but even more eager to be able to turn to look at you properly without it being weird. “Do you raid the kitchen often?”
“It isn’t raiding, per se,” you retort. “It’s requesting nicely and hoping the elves don’t say no.”
Cedric let out a small, breathy laugh. “Alright. Do you do that often?”
“Mainly when I can’t sleep,” you admit honestly, turning to look at him. “I’ve always found it easier to sleep after eating something.”
Cedric hummed in response. Merlin knew he needed all the tips he could get to help him sleep. With the first task of the Triwizard Tournament fast-approaching, he hadn’t been able to sleep a wink most nights. “I’ll have to give that a try then,” he mumbled under his breath.
A pause.
“Is it because of the Tournament?”
Cedric turned his head, then, to look at you at once. It was like you had read his mind. But then again, he found himself thinking, he was the Hogwarts champion. He reckoned most students knew who he was and what he had signed up for. Still though, if you were to look closely, you would’ve seen the faintest shade of pink coat the tips of his ears.
He hesitated before sighing. “Yeah,” he admitted. “I guess it is.”
“Still have no idea about the first task?” you asked sympathetically, holding his eyes the entire time. He found it particularly difficult to keep gazing into your eyes, though, so he cleared his throat as he looked down for a moment.
“No,” he replied. “I’ve got no clue.”
You nudged his shoulder lightly and Cedric was sure his brain had short-circuited at the contact. “You’ll be fine, I’m sure. I believe in you,” you shot him a quick smile and Cedric immediately felt his cheeks redden. He tried his best to hold your gaze as he smiled back but eventually resorted to studying the ground with a bashful smile on his face.
Upon your arrival to the spiral staircase that led to your common room, Cedric placed your snacks back in your arms and turned to bid you goodnight before you stopped him.
“You really should try it, you know,” you said before he could turn away to walk to the dungeons. “My sleeping method, I mean,” you handed him a packet of your favourite biscuits. “Here. They’re a personal favourite. Satisfaction guaranteed.” You winked as you turned to walk up the stairs.
With his cheeks aflame and his mouth gaping open, he knew he had to say something back. With all that he had in him at that moment, he tried his best to return to his normal, confident self instead of the flustered mess you always reduce him to.
“I’m holding you to that, then,” he called as he watched you ascend the stairs with slow steps. “Fifteen points from Ravenclaw if it doesn’t work.”
“That’s not going to hurt Ravenclaw’s chances at winning the house cup either, Diggory,” you laughed as you looked down at him. “And what if it does work?”
“Then the elves will have to make room for yet another student showing up at their door to ‘request nicely, hoping they don’t say no’ to stealing snacks from them every night.”
“I’ll let the elves know to make the arrangements, then,” you called as you slipped through the door finally, leaving a star-struck Cedric standing below. He turned the biscuit packet over in his hands before shaking his head fondly. He opened the packet at once, desperate to try the biscuits you were so fond of.
That night, when Cedric returned to his dormitory, stuffed full of the biscuits you’d gifted him, he slept soundly for the first time in two weeks.
It wasn’t a dreamless sleep, either. He dreamt of you all through the night.
–
It had been a week since he had learned what lay in store for him for the first task of the tournament. It had also been a week since he was last able to get a good night’s sleep – no matter how many chocolates he popped in his mouth.
Needless to say, over the past week, he also grew desperate to run into you again. Even more so than normal, which, admittedly, was already a hazardous amount.
He had tried paying the kitchen a visit every night since he first encountered you returning from it, but he never seemed to find you at the right time. There was a particular night on which he was so desperate that he actually resorted to asking an elf if you had visited that night. He’d worn a sheepish smile as the elf had only looked at him hesitantly before bidding him goodnight.
What Cedric had not been aware of, however, was that you had asked the same elf the exact same thing that same night. The elf was thoroughly confused, to say the least.
He was trying again tonight. He really needed to see you again tonight. You were the only person that could ease his nerves about the task tomorrow, while simultaneously making him flush with every little thing you said. It was like a drug.
He had arrived at the kitchen doors, raising his hand to knock before the door opened itself. He breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of you, once again laden with snacks that he was sure you already had a pile of under your bed.
“Diggory!” You exclaimed as your eyes lit up and Cedric tried to dismiss how his heart seemed to have skipped a beat. “Are you here to take fifteen points away from Ravenclaw?”
He chuckled at your question. “No,” he shook his head with a nervous smile. “Quite the contrary, actually. I’m ‘requesting nicely and hoping you don’t say no’ to me stealing those biscuits from you again.”
“Ah,” you nodded with amusement, handing him another packet of your favourites. “Satisfied customer, then?”
“Very,” he agreed, taking them. “Thank you.”
He took a deep breath to calm his nerves as he followed close behind you. Neither of you had to say anything to know that Cedric walking you back was part of the routine by now.
“Are you ready for the task tomorrow?” you asked, slowing a little so he could walk beside you through the winding hallways of the castle. You turned to study his face – the kind eyes, the worry lines on his forehead from, no doubt, worrying about the task, the golden locks that fell perfectly on his head despite it being so late.
“I hope so,” he sighed as he turned to look at you and shoot you a quick smile. He found – with much delight – that your presence had grown more so comforting than it was nerve wracking – and that was never something he ever thought he would be able to say.
“You are,” you affirmed with a nod. He breathed a laugh at how certain you were of what you were saying only to hide how full his heart really felt at the affirmation. “Do you know what it is yet?”
“Dragons,” he said simply. You waited for him to follow it up with a laugh to indicate he was joking before widening your eyes. “I know.” He half-smiled at your reaction. It had shocked him too.
“Wow,” you said as thoughts raced in your head. “What are you planning on doing?”
Cedric shifted uncomfortably at your question. He always prided himself on being brave, on being intelligent. Yet, somehow when it came to you, both of those thoughts dissolved into nothing. He had no idea if you would find his idea as ingenious as his friends did.
“I’ve always been quite good at Transfiguration,” he began slowly. “I was thinking of using that to my advantage. Perhaps if I transfigured a rock into – I dunno – a dog, maybe, then I could distract the dragon.”
He waited with bated breaths for you to say something. Your eyebrows were furrowed in thought as you analyzed his idea. “That’s brilliant, Cedric.” You said finally, with a thoughtful smile. It was certainly an inventive idea.
He couldn’t help but grin at your compliment, and his grin only grew as he realized you had used his first name. He loved how it sounded when it came from your mouth. “I trust I'll find you in the stands tomorrow, then?”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” you grinned. You both halted as you arrived once again at the foot of the spiral staircase. You held his eyes for a second before leaning up on your toes to leave a small peck on his cheek. “For good luck,” you added cheekily, turning at once to climb the stairs.
Cedric blinked a few times in shock before bringing his hand up to his cheek, feeling the residual warmth of the kiss you had planted just seconds ago. He felt himself blush intensely as he watched you slip through the door into your common room. Only after you had vanished completely out of sight did he allow himself to break into a shit-eating grin.
He slept soundly that night once more, dreaming only of you, even when the threat of dragons loomed over his head.
–
Cedric knew he would be able to sleep just fine tonight if he went up to his dormitory. The roars of the party that was currently being held in the Hufflepuff common room wouldn’t even bother him. He had successfully completed the first task today, and he felt like he was on top of the world with his ornate golden egg.
Except, he could not stop thinking about you. He knew he needed to see you again.
He found himself smiling absentmindedly as he thought of you en route to the kitchen once again. He brought a hand to knock on the kitchen door excitedly, eager to see you again, to see what you had to say. He hadn't gotten a chance to talk to you at all today, despite spotting you in the stands immediately.
When an elf answered the door, he tried to dismiss how much his heart dropped. He was expecting to see you.
“Good evening,” he smiled politely to the elf. “I was wondering if you’ve seen [Y/N] tonight?”
“The Ravenclaw miss?” The elf frowned in confusion.
“Yes,” Cedric nodded with a fond smile playing on his lips. “Have you seen her tonight?”
The elf shook his head. “Not tonight, Mr. Diggory.”
He tried his best to mask his disappointment with a small smile. “I see. Thank you.”
He debated waiting outside the kitchen doors for you to turn up before deciding against it. That was probably a little creepy, right? Plus, seeing as the kitchens are right down the hallway from the Hufflepuff common room, he’d be running into too many of his friends in the meantime, anyway.
He knew that it had been a complete chance occurrence that night for him to run into you. It had allowed him to actually talk to you – beyond the curt words he’d exchanged with you in class. It allowed him to look at you as if he had all the time in the world – rather than stealing glances at you from the corner of his eye. It had allowed him to actually get to know you.
And, he found himself quickly realizing, chance events could only be relied on for gentle pushes in the right direction. In the end, he had to take his fate into his own hands. He had to grab his golden egg – he’d done it literally already. All he needed to do now was do it metaphorically.
He turned around and knocked for a second time on the kitchen door. When an elf answered the door – looking a little exasperated – Cedric wore his best apologetic smile.
“Can I get one of those biscuits, please? The ones the Ravenclaw miss likes?”
He set off at once towards your common room, with your favourite biscuits tucked in his arms.
He couldn’t wait for any more lucky run-ins with you anymore. He wanted to see you, and he was tired of waiting to run into you like he had on the previous two occasions.
“Padma!” He called as he spotted the fourth-year girl descending the spiral staircase.
“Yes?” She asked confusedly, unsure of what Cedric Diggory could possibly want from her at this hour.
“Is [Y/N] inside?” He asked. He knew how dishevelled he probably looked right now. After all, he had run from the other side of the school in the same uniform he had worn for the task this morning, with a bright blue packet of biscuits in hand. It wasn’t an ordinary sight.
Padma thought for a second, as if thinking back to remember every face she had seen on the way out of the common room. “I think so,” she concluded finally, remembering that she had seen you sprawled on a couch with a book in your lap.
“Can you get her for me, please?” He asked. Padma could sense the slight pleading tone in his voice as she gave him a quick nod and turned back to fetch you from inside the common room.
He looked around as she disappeared inside, trying to calm his beating heart for the second time that day. Somehow he’d successfully stolen the egg from right under the dragon’s nose – literally – today yet he found himself more nervous while waiting for you.
He knew the implications it carried, to ask for someone and wait outside their common room like this. You were bound to know now how he felt about you, how much he enjoyed being around you. He ran a hand through his hair quickly and tried to smooth out the honey-coloured top he was wearing before he heard you from the top of the stairs.
“Cedric!” you beamed as you spotted his familiar head of hair. You climbed down the stairs with a grin on your face and Cedric’s heart seemed to beat impossibly faster the longer he looked at you. He could never get enough of you saying his name like that. “I almost didn’t recognize you without that Swedish Short-Snout beside you.”
Cedric sent you a wry smile as you came to a stop in front of him. “I almost didn’t recognize you without all the food in your arms,” he retorted with newfound confidence.
“Is that why you have that?” you questioned with a raise of your eyebrows, gesturing towards the biscuits Cedric had long forgotten about.
“Oh,” he blinked. “Yes, um, they’re for you.” He held the packet out towards you with an attempted smile he really hoped was coming across as charming. It was hard to ignore the butterflies in your own stomach at the sight.
“Thanks,” your fingers brushed his and you almost chuckled at how quickly his cheeks flushed with an all-too-familiar red tinge. “Want me to walk you back?”
He raised a single eyebrow at your question before you added with a light nudge to his shoulder, “Evening strolls are customary at this point, right?”
He breathed a laugh at your remark – like he often found himself doing. He didn’t have it in him to protest. He wanted – no, needed – to spend every possible moment he could with you. The euphoria of this night was bound to wear off soon, he knew that. Tomorrow, he had to start worrying about the second task again. But walking with you, just as he had on that first night, always made his problems seem insignificant. And he needed that right now.
“So, what’s the deal with the golden egg?” you asked, reading his mind once again. He shook his head slightly in disbelief as a small smile crept to his face.
“No clue,” he answered honestly. “They make the most horrid shrieking sound whenever I try to open it. I’ve got no idea what it means.”
You hummed in response. “I could help you figure it out.”
Cedric sputtered, taken aback at your offer. Even his friends hadn’t offered to help him figure it out. “I would love that.” He told you gratefully, watching you closely for any signs of hesitation on your features. All he saw was genuinity.
“Tomorrow in the library, then? After supper?” You asked with a small smile. It was so endearing to watch his ears and cheeks redden.
“Yeah,” he breathed out quickly. “Tomorrow sounds great.” He couldn’t believe how he was still able to talk in coherent sentences.
“It’s a date, then,” you uttered with a sly smirk, holding his gaze.
He almost fell on his face, right then and there. Cedric thanked Merlin, then, for you two had finally reached the entrance to his common room, both of you coming to a halt. He wasn't sure if he would be able to walk after what you had just said. He blinked at you blankly before finding his voice. “Yes. Yes, it’s a date.”
You turned to leave with amused eyes at the boy’s reaction. Could he get any cuter?
Cedric had no idea what had possessed him. He hadn’t even had any firewhisky that night. But he found himself calling out to you anyway.
“Wait!” he called, making you turn around at once. Your curious eyes met his nervous ones and he walked closer to you. He had no idea what he was doing, but somehow the after-effects of all the adrenaline pumping through his body earlier today could still be felt twelve hours later. “I never got to thank you properly for your well wishes last night.”
“Oh?” you raised an eyebrow, your lips tugging upwards.
You tried to hide the absolute shock you felt when he leaned down to peck your cheek quickly. “As a thank you,” he clarified quickly. He watched carefully for your reaction, unsure if he should’ve done that or not.
It was safe to say you didn’t exactly mind.
Before he knew it, you were leaning up to press a chaste peck to his lips. He breathed in sharply as you pulled back to smirk at him. You had always been a competitive one.
“To congratulate you once again on your feat today,” you clarified wryly, watching him for any reaction so as to make sure you hadn’t overstepped.
It was safe to say you hadn’t.
Cedric didn’t take a moment to think before acting this time. He didn’t take a moment to gather his courage or analyze the best course of action. He acted on instinct, and instinct alone. And every instinct in his body was telling him to lean down again and crash his lips onto yours – properly this time.
So he did.
Cedric took his time kissing you with furrowed brows. The biscuits you so loved didn’t even come close to you. You tasted sweeter than any biscuit he’d ever had, any dessert that he’d ever tasted. He was sure that he could get addicted to the taste, to the feel. It wouldn’t really surprise him – he was already addicted to your presence.
You kissed him back with the same urgency, your hands wrapping around his neck to bring him even closer.
Pulling away slowly, he teased against your lips, “To thank you again for your heartiest congratulations.”
Your quip died on your tongue as cheers and whoops broke out in the background, forcing you two to break apart suddenly. You both turned to find Cedric’s friends watching this encounter with excited smiles and boyish eyes, standing in front of the entrance to the common room. Cedric’s mouth hung open a little as he wondered how he had missed them standing there. But then again, he had been a little preoccupied for the past minute or so.
“Atta boy, Diggory!” Trevor whooped, teasing him as you tried to smother a bashful smile of your own.
“Oh, sod off, Woods,” Cedric retorted with exasperation. “Go back inside, would you? I’m– I’m busy.”
“Oh,” Fairfield spoke up. “We can see just how busy you are, champ, not to worry.” Roars of laughter and whistles broke out again. “Come on, lads, we’ll bug him about it when he comes inside.”
“If he comes back inside at all tonight, that is!” More laughter.
Cedric cast a weak stinging hex at no one in particular as his friends all clambered back inside their common room. He turned to face you at once, possibly to apologize but you beat him to it.
“Here,” you told him with a knowing smirk, handing back the packet of biscuits. “I think you might be needing these more than I will tonight, champ.”
And, Merlin, you were right. He didn’t sleep a wink in his rowdy dormitory that night. Not that he minded though – thinking about all the real aspects of you that he had gotten to experience that night were even better than the dreams.

i think he knows | theodore nott x reader
song; i think he knows [taylor swift] pairing; theodore nott x ravenclaw!fem!reader genre; not actually unrequited love, s2l, fluff word count; 3,1k timeline; half-blood prince warnings; swearing, theo's lack of communication summary; you had fancied the mysteriously quiet slytherin boy for as long as you could remember (since first year), and, quite frankly, your best friend was sick of you going on about it without ever making a move
masterlist
"wanna see what's under that attitude."
—————————————
Truth was, you knew you weren't special for having your attention caught by Theodore Nott. Despite his almost entirely anti-social personality and apparent grumpiness, many girls longed after him. You completely understood, of course; there was something enticing about a potentially misunderstood quiet boy, and the idea of becoming the one person they show affection to was self-indulging.
The fact of the matter, as your best friend, Cho, frequently pointed out, was that you had never even so much as spoken to him. You hoped he at least knew you existed, from the times you had been praised in class for your assignments, but you had no proof that he even recognised your face.
"Babe, it's sixth year now- that's over five years of you fancying Nott," Cho said as she caught your gaze lingering over to the Slytherin table again. It was your second day back after summer, so you had a lot of long-distance admiring to catch up on.
"Okay, so?" you replied, not even bothering to move your eyes away from the object of your desires.
"So, it's time that you do something about it," she continued, shovelling scrambled eggs on to both her plate and yours, "Do you really want to leave Hogwarts without any dating experience?"
You finally prized your eyes away from Nott, opting instead to meet your concerned best friend's gaze, "I don't think it's the sort of time to be thinking about dating."
"It's especially the time to think about it," she said, "Our lives may be shorter than we think they are - don't die with regrets."
You sighed, unable to argue.
"Plus, it really wouldn't hurt to have some positivity around here. You can feel how much heavier the air is than before."
That, you had to agree with. People were still laughing in their friend groups throughout the hall, sure, but there was a lingering sense of dread that had stuck with everyone since the Triwizard Tournament and reign of Umbridge, and it was only getting worse.
"Maybe," you finally concluded, picking up your fork to dig into your breakfast.
"You have nothing to lose," she added, "Your social circles are completely separate, and, you're pretty as fuck."
You couldn't help but smile at her compliment, "Even if that's true, I'm completely inexperienced."
"It's not that hard."
"Yeah, says the girl who had both Hogwarts champions drooling over her. No offence, babe, but you're biased."
"That could just have easily been you if you'd ever spoken to either of them."
"Whatever you say."
Cho sighed, deciding to not argue any further with you on the matter - for now.

It was amazing how potions went from your least favourite subject to your favourite after Slughorn took over from Snape. The lessons were no longer a fear-inducing chore, but instead a time of laughter and enjoyable learning: the way it should be.
Harry Potter especially seemed to be flourishing in the subject, much to the dismay of Hermione Granger, who usually took the spot at the top of the class. You were glad to not be a part of their constantly hectic lifestyles, although you had almost been when Cho had a thing with Harry the year prior.
Regardless, your main focus during potions was the gorgeous Slytherin boy who sat across the classroom from you - another of the best students in the class. Your seat was stationed at the perfect angle to sneak glances at him without raising too much suspicion: you definitely hadn't ensured that a few weeks ago during the first lesson or anything.
"Shit, I forgot the anjelica," you muttered to yourself, gazing at the list of ingredients in front of you as you had been wondering why your potion was a navy blue when it was meant to be a royal blue.
You left your station to head over to the ingredients cupboard, where you gazed at the arrangement before you. It was organised alphabetically, so your eyes shifted to the top left hand corner where you spotted the jar that you were after.
You stood on your tiptoes in attempt to reach it, but after failing, you huffed, going to pull out your wand instead. That was when a hard chest pressed against your back and a large pale hand grasped the very jar that you were in dire need of. You turned around quickly only to spot the guy you had fancied for an unhealthy amount of time - and his face was shockingly close to yours. His scent swarmed your nostrils, making your knees weak.
He raised an eyebrow at you.
Coming to your senses, you cleared your throat, "Uh, I need some of that anjelica- please."
His eyes shifted down to the jar in his hand as he stepped back slightly. The added distance meant that you could finally breathe.
Nott presented the jar to you, and you gratefully took it, thanking him in the process. As you went to open it and take what you needed, he left the cupboard and went back to his station, which was in view of where you were. You remained shocked for a few moments: did he not need some of the herb? His eyes locked on to yours from where he now was, making you panic and quickly depart the cupboard with the jar still in your hand.
Rowena, how did Cho expect you to ask him out when you couldn't even make eye contact with him?
***
The following morning, you were sat at breakfast with Cho and your other fellow Ravenclaws, busy discussing the latest ancient runes essay that you had to complete. Just as you began to discuss the difficulties you had with writing the conclusion, you were interrupted by the sound of owls from above. The morning post had arrived.
Typically, you didn't get anything. Maybe the occasional letter from your mother, but that was about it. So, you were mildly surprised to see an envelope drop in front of you.
It was a very small envelope: that was the most confusing part. You couldn't think as to why your mother wouldn't send a normal-sized letter, but you opened it nonetheless. Only, the contents of the envelope made your stomach drop as dread filled your bones and veins.
A tiny note was enclosed, that wasn't addressed or signed, and it simply read "I see you staring at me". Instinctively, your eyes looked up and over to the Slytherin table, where Theodore Nott sat, evidently having been watching you this entire time. His face was completely blank, until he arched an eyebrow at you - clearly a favoured expression of his - which made you begin panicking.
"Oh, fuck," you mumbled, "Fuck, fuck, fuck."
Only Cho, who was sat next to you, heard your profanities, and turned to you with confusion adorning her face. "What is it?"
You passed the note over to her, still gazing at Nott who now had the slightest of amused smirks tugging on his lips.
"Oh, fuck," Cho mimicked you, finally making you prize your eyes away from the boy, "Yeah, I see why you're panicking."
"This is going to socially ruin me," you sighed, "He'll probably tell the other Slytherins and then they'll bully me until the end of my school career."
"Okay, catastrophising much?" she said, gently slapping you, "Nott like never talks, I highly doubt he divulges his friends with personal information."
"Yeah, his personal information!" you whisper-yelled.
"I mean, maybe he likes you back."
"What?"
"He doesn't indicate at all in that note that he's mad at you for staring at him."
"Yeah, but, don't you think he'd go about it in a different way if he returned the feelings?"
Cho paused to think for a moment, "No, actually. Maybe he was pretty sure that you were staring at him, but needed to confirm it. So, he wrote that note to you, intentionally not signing it, to see if you would immediately look to him after reading it."
Your eyes widened with realisation, "Wait, are you saying I could have still saved myself, but instead instantly looked in his direction like a fucking idiot?"
"Y/N," she hit your arm, "I think this is a good thing. Try and be more optimistic."
"Easy for you to say."
***
You felt sick to your stomach as you arrived at your potions lesson that day, keeping your head down as you took your usual seat. Normally, this would be when you'd steal your first glance at Theodore Nott, but the thought of seeing his face again paralysed you with fear.
"Y/N, relax," Cho whispered to you, but her words were futile. Relaxation seemed impossible in times like this.
"Today, class, I want you to pair up with someone you don't usually work with," Professor Slughorn announced, "By that I mean, someone who isn't from your house and doesn't sit on your table."
You mumbled a curse under your breath as people began to move around, looking up to try and locate the nice Hufflepuff girl you sat next to in history of magic. Only, Cho had already disappeared to her side, and they were chatting happily with each other. Rowena, this was bad. You didn't have the biggest social circle.
"Excellent, everyone seems to be in pairs," Slughorn spoke, making you furrow your eyebrows.
Looking to your side, you were shocked to see that Nott had silently sat next you, and was gazing at you intently.
"Hi," you squeaked, flashbacks of breakfast flooding back to you.
He gave you a curt nod, and turned back to face the front.
You didn't listen to a single instruction that Slughorn gave after that, as your brain was much too pre-occupied with concepts of social suicide and humiliation. Was Nott just trying to torture you?
"L/N," a deep voice snapped you out of your thoughts. That was it. The first time you had ever heard Theodore Nott speak.
You turned to him, only to realise that everyone was standing up and getting ingredients - had you really been that spaced out?
It must have been evident in your facial expression that you had no idea what was going on, because Nott opened his potions book and pointed at the potion that you were making. You looked at the ingredient list, but you couldn't say that you were actually taking any of it in.
Clearly, Nott was aware of this fact, and let out a small sigh that made you feel exceptionally guilty. Regardless, he walked over to the ingredients cupboard himself without another word and soon returned with everything you needed. In the meantime, you had snapped out of your stupor and set up the cauldron and cutting board. You didn't want him to completely regret pairing up with you.
What potion were you even making? You finally processed the words on the page: amortentia. Your eyes widened.
This might not end well.
***
You had never thought being a remarkable potion maker - who was collaborating with a fellow remarkable potion maker - would be a bad thing. It turned out that it very much could be when the steam from your concoction wafted up your nose, overwhelming your senses with the smell of intertwined chestnut and paper money. As if the faint scent of Nott that you picked up on whenever he walked past didn't make you nervous enough, now it filled the entire room, since you certainly weren't the only capable potion makers in the class.
"Alright, class, it seems that we have all about finished," Slughorn clapped his hands together, "And, now, for my favourite part."
You had a feeling you knew what was coming.
"Miss Parkinson, what does the potion smell like to you?"
"Uh," the girl flushed a bit, her eyes flicking towards Draco Malfoy, "I don't know how to describe it - clean, expensive. Like a really fancy fragrance."
"Fascinating, most fascinating," Slughorn replied, his eyes gleaming, "Mr Nott, what about you?"
Were you already about to hear him speak for the second time? He hadn't spoke throughout the entire potion making process, which, to be honest, you were kind of glad for.
"Coconut," he said simply, "And vanilla."
Your breath hitched.
You used coconut shampoo.
Your favourite perfume was a vanilla scent.
"That is most interesting!" Slughorn grinned, "It is fascinating to hear what enraptures you all the most!"
You didn't realise that your eyes had glued on to Nott as Slughorn proceeded to ask other students what amortentia smelled of to them until the Slytherin boy turned to face you and raised a singular eyebrow.
You felt warm underneath his gaze.
He smirked.
***
You packed up at the end of the lesson, preparing to return to the Ravenclaw tower until dinner time along with Cho who was still across the room. Just as you were about to walk over to her, Nott grabbed your arm and jerked his head in the direction of the door. It was a silent invitation to walk with him somewhere, from what you could gather. You turned around to tell Cho where you were going, but she had already disappeared, much to your confusion.
The first few minutes of the walk were in silence, and the awkwardness was killing you. It was only once you had emerged from the dungeons that Nott finally said something.
"You aren't subtle."
A lightning bolt of shock and nerves shot up your spine and made you stiffen up as you walked. You managed to force out a mumble of, "I know."
He shrugged, "It's cute."
Had you heard him right? No, you couldn't have. You just weren't used to hearing his voice.
"I thought you were shy," you muttered, but he heard and chuckled a bit.
"No. Just quiet."
You clutched your books close to your chest.
"You're shy," he added.
You nodded.
He chuckled again, and silence ensued for another couple minutes.
"Hogsmeade," he said.
You hummed in surprise.
"This weekend. Me, you."
Your jaw dropped - did he mean a date? A Hogsmeade invitation had certain implications among Hogwarts students.
But he didn't clarify, not once on the way to the Ravenclaw tower.
***
"Relax, Y/N, you'll be great," Cho assured you, wrapping your scarf around your neck since the autumn breeze was nippy in Scotland.
"I don't even know if it's a date."
"Of course it's a date," she shook her head, "Everyone knows what inviting someone to Hogsmeade means."
You grimaced, "I don't know if Nott is the most up to date with social norms."
"Regardless, he's not a fucking idiot."
You gave your best friend a small smile.
"Now, he'll be waiting for you in the courtyard, so hurry!"
***
You had only ever seen Theodore Nott in casual clothing from afar before, catching a glimpse of him before he disappeared amongst the other Slytherins. But, Rowena, you had been missing out on quite an indulgent sight.
How could a man make such a simple outfit of a knitted jumper and baggy jeans look so good? You didn't understand it, unable to feel anything but self-conscious in your own ensemble.
He didn't smile at you as you approached, but instead gave you a curt nod. And, as you both began walking towards the carriage, the silence was truly beginning to suffocate you. So, you reached inside the crevices of your brain to talk about something - anything - and finally landed on informing him of every little thing that had happened to you that week. It wasn't particularly interesting, mainly because you were omitting the details about him, but it meant that the quietness was filled with your babbling.
Which was how it went the entire journey to Hogsmeade.
At first you weren't sure he was listening, but when you paused mid sentence for a moment, he raised his eyebrow at you and gestured for you to go on. So you did.
"...and honestly, I don't know why Cho thought that was a good idea," you sighed as you both stepped out of the carriage, "She nearly set her hair on fire!"
You heard a small chuckle erupt from the boy next to you, making you look over to him in surprise.
"What about you? How's your week been?" you asked cautiously, nervous to see his reaction to a question that required a wordy response.
He shrugged.
It was frustrating.
You chewed your lip for a few seconds, "Look- I get you find communication difficult. But, please, I need more to work with here."
He gave you a surprised expression, and stopped walking, making you halt too. Nott looked around pensively, completely unreadable.
"Nott?"
He looked at you and scowled, "Theo," he corrected.
"Theo- what are you doing?"
Letting out a loud exhale, he grabbed your hand and pulled you away from the main street of Hogsmeade and to a more hidden area behind some of the houses. When you turned around, you realised that he was right in front of you - to the point that you could feel the warmth of his breath on your face.
"I'm not good with words," he mumbled.
You hummed in agreement.
"I don't like talking to people," he continued, "But I want to talk to you."
Your breath hitched, "Really?"
"I'm not an idiot- I've known that you've fancied me for years."
You felt your ears heat up.
"But this year, when we started back, I-" he paused, trying to piece together the words in his mind, "I saw you, and it was different than before. I wanted your attention."
A smile crept on to your face as you gazed up at him.
"So, I know I need to work on being open - but I want to try. For you."
You don't know where the wave of confidence came from, but you found yourself pressing your lips against his and combing your fingers through his hair. He gasped at the sudden contact, but quickly reciprocated the affection until you pulled apart.
"Rowena... I always thought you knew. I can't believe I was right."
"Horrifying?"
"A little," you nodded, "But it's obviously worked out."

written in the stars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: theodore nott x reader. song inspiration: until i found you by stephen sanchez feat. em beihold. author's note: boyfriend theo is the best theo. if you're wondering, then yes writing this hurt me as much as it hurts reading it but like in the best way possible.
Tumblr media
Theodore Nott has always had an affinity for the stars.
When he was younger, Theo's mother used to take him to the rooftop of Nott Manor and point out the constellations to him. The stars told stories, his mum had said. Theo listened with rapt attention as she recounted the tales of Aquila, Heracles, and Orion as they glittered against the backdrop of the English countryside.
The two of them would make an entire evening out of it. Laying on his back atop a nest of blankets and pillows, little Theo watched as the stars climbed higher and higher, filling the horizon with hope and light. Stargazing had been their special secret. The one thing that wasn’t tainted by his abusive father. Theo guarded the memory of those nights in his heart like a priceless treasure.
After his mother’s passing, Theo continued their tradition of stargazing. Even if she was no longer alive, all he had to do was look up at the sky to feel her with him. For that reason, the stars were special to him and he’d never shared its meaning with anyone.
Until tonight.
“Watch your step, cara mia.” Theo said as he guided you by the small of your back.
The dark cloth covering your eyes prohibited you from seeing, but you trusted your boyfriend to keep you from falling. Though you weren’t a fan of surprises, Theo was impossible to resist. All he had to do was flash those pretty watercolor eyes at you and you were an absolute goner.
For you, Theo had always been the exception.
He guided you up a staircase, keeping a firm grip on your waist as the two of you ascended. Wherever you were going, it was pretty high up. You smiled as Theo took hold of your waist, knowing that you weren't the biggest fan of heights. Sometimes it felt like he knew you better than you knew yourself. When you reached the top, Theo unfastened his tie from behind your head.
“You can open your eyes now, sweetheart.”
You blinked, letting your eyes adjust to the dark. The wind whistled through the stone arches of the Astronomy Tower, framing the starkissed night with its marble pillars. The soft glow of the moon illuminated the nest of blankets and pillows arranged in the middle of the wooden floor.
“Did you do all of this for me, babe?”
Theo smiled. “I thought you might like to go stargazing with me,” he said, his voice soft. “Do you like it, my love?”
“I love it, Teddy.” You beamed, standing on your tiptoes to kiss his nose. “But not nearly as much as I love you.”
Theo grinned before pulling you in for a proper kiss. His lips were soft against yours and he tasted like peppermint. Butterflies erupted in your stomach as your knees buckled slightly. Theo never failed to make you feel like a lovestruck school girl. It never stopped feeling like this despite how many times you kissed this boy.
As if reading your thoughts, Theo smiled against your lips. “Come on, Y/N. I want to show you my favorite constellations.”
The two of you laid down beneath the stars, making yourself comfortable amidst the blankets and pillows. Wordlessly, Theo pulled you into his arms and you nestled into the crook of his neck, breathing in the familiar scent of sea salt spray and sun kissed skin.
“Tell me the story of the stars, Teddy.”
He smiled, brushing your hair back. “That one right there is Ursa Major. Otherwise known as the Big Dipper, but if you look at the entire constellation, it actually forms a bear.”
“I remember learning about that when I was little,” you said, gazing up at the sky. “Didn’t it have something to do with Zeus?”
Theo nodded. “In Greek mythology, the Olympian God Zeus fell in love with Callisto and got her pregnant. After she gave birth to the child, Hera was so mad she turned Callisto into a bear.”
“That hardly seems fair,” you responded with a frown.
“Zeus was a bit of a wanker,” Theo said in agreement. “Hera was even worse. She cursed Callisto to wander the forest for years in bear form until she was hunted by her own son Arcas. Just as he raised his spear to strike her down, Zeus stepped in and sent them up to the heavens. Callisto as Ursa Major and Arcas as Bootes.”
“The Greek gods were truly a piece of work,” you replied. “But at least we got those constellations out of them."
You squinted, pointing at the cluster of stars hovering in the east. “What’s that one?”
“That’s the constellation of Leo,” explained Theo. “Named after the Nemean lion that Heracles defeated during the first of his twelve labours.”
“Didn’t he make a cloak out of the lion’s pelt?”
“Smart girl,” Theo said proudly. “The cloak made Heracles invincible and more fearsome than he already was. The Nemean lion’s heart is made up of the star Regulus, which is associated with the arrival of spring.”
“The Little King. I read that it burns hotter than the sun.”
Theo couldn’t help but smile. Before he met you, he never thought he’d find someone to share such a special and intimate thing with. He was worried that no one else would understand his love for the stars, but as he watched you peer curiously up at the sky, your nose scrunched in careful concentration, Theo felt all of his doubts fade away.
“Regulus is unique because it can be seen in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.”
The blue star glittered brightly above your heads, as if it was showing off for the occasion. “It’s beautiful,” you breathed.
Theo stared at you, at the childlike wonder shimmering in your eyes, and he felt like the breath had been knocked out of his lungs. The gravity of what he felt for you hit him all at once.
“Yeah,” Theo said softly, still looking at you. “Beautiful.”
You grinned, intertwining your fingers and kissing his knuckles. “How do you know so much about the stars, Teddy?”
“My mum taught me.” Theo answered, drawing circles on your hip. “When I was little, she used to take me to the rooftop of the manor and tell me the story behind each star. She was fascinated by them. Before she met my father, she wanted to teach astronomy at the Stati Magia.”
“The Italian School of Witchcraft?”
Theo nodded. “My mother attended the Stati Magia, just like her mother and her mother before her. A tradition that I unintentionally broke, as nonna Lucia loves to remind me. Sometimes I think the old bat wishes that I was born a strega instead.”
You giggled. “You would’ve been a very pretty witch.” Theo chuckled as you propped your head up in one hand. “Did your mum end up becoming a professor?”
“No,” Theo said sadly. “After I was born, my father said that her place was at the manor. He refused to move to Florence, even though he knew it was my mother’s dream.”
You stroked his hair, nodding emphatically. Theo rarely talked about his mother. You knew that her passing was a painful subject for him, so you never pushed him to talk about it unless he wanted to.
“That’s awful. I’m so sorry, my love,” you said. “But at least she was able to pass down her love of the stars to you. In a way, she lived her dream by teaching you.”
A soft smile tugged at your boyfriend’s lips. “I suppose she did.”
You laid back down, but this time you cradled Theo against you. He rested his head against your chest, listening to the calming sound of your heartbeat. Talking about his mother will always be hard, but you helped ease the pain.
“What about those stars?” You asked, pointing to the north. “What did your mother tell you about them?”
“Perseus and Andromeda,” Theo answered. “Those are actually her favorites.”
“The chained maiden.”
Theo stirred, inclining his gaze to the horizon. “Andromeda was the Princess of Aethiopia, the daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. She was said to be very beautiful. Her mother bragged that Andromeda was fairer than the Nereids, which angered Poseidon. As punishment, the Sea God sent the creature Cetus to ravage that coast of their kingdom.”
You nodded, recalling the story. “King Cepheus chained her to a rock and offered her as a sacrifice to appease the sea monster.”
“Luckily for Andromeda, the hero Perseus found her before Cetus could attack again. Perseus fell in love with Andromeda and defeated the monster so he could free the princess. They ended up marrying and became king and queen of Mycenae. When they died, the goddess Athena placed them side by side in the heavens so that they would never be parted, not even by death.”
“A love written in the stars,” you said with awe and wonder. “I can see why it’s your mother’s favorite.”
“When I was a boy, she told me that she hoped I’d experience a love like theirs, minus the sea monster of course.” You chuckled. Theo knit his brows together like he did when he was deep in thought. When he spoke again, his voice was barely audible. “It’s sad to think that she never found her Perseus.”
You brushed his hair back, running your fingers through his curls gently. “She might not have found her Perseus, but she did have her Theo.”
Theo turned over and looked at you. The intensity in his gaze made you shiver. He was so ingrained in your heart that it felt inaccurate to continue calling it yours.
“After she died, I never thought I’d share her stories with anyone again, but I’m glad I shared them with you.”
“Thank you for trusting me, Theo.” You said as you placed a kiss on his temple. “It means the world to me that you not only shared your mother’s stories, but her memory as well. I would’ve loved to meet her.”
The tender smile on Theo’s face was heartbreaking. Then softly, he whispered. “She would’ve loved you, Y/N.”
Your heart cracked open, his words spilling like sunlight over every crevice, warming you from the inside out.
Tears formed at the corners of your eyes, but you forced yourself to give Theo a watery smile. “Because I’m a nerd who memorized obscure mythological facts?”
Your boyfriend smiled. “No,” he said gently, caressing your cheek. “Because you made her wish come true. You are my love written in the stars, cara mia.”
The moonlight kissed Theo’s tan skin, the silver beams caressing his face like a lover as if the moon and the stars craved to commit his beauty to memory as badly as you did. Gods, he was breathtaking.
This was the Teddy you knew and loved. Your Teddy.
Those watercolor eyes shimmered with emotion. “Sometimes I think the gods made you just for me, like our souls are linked in a way that neither logic nor magic can explain. Whatever it is, I think I’ve loved you since before the heavens and the earth existed and I’m fairly certain that I’d still love you even after the last star falls out of the sky.”
“You’re the love of my life, Theodore Nott.” Tears streamed down your cheeks as this boy—this beautiful boy ensnared your mind, body, and soul. “I’d find you in any universe and in any galaxy. Maybe someday we’ll be immortalized in the stars too.”
Theo held your face in his hands. His expression was open and vulnerable, like he wasn’t afraid to lay himself bare before you. As if it was the most natural thing in the world.
“We’re two halves of a whole,” Theo said. “I loved you yesterday. I love you today and I’ll love you tomorrow. You’re it for me, Y/N. You and no one else.”
“You and no one else, Teddy.”
Under the constellations of the star crossed lovers, Theo kissed you so gently that it made your heart ache. As Andromeda and Perseus kept watch over the horizon, Theodore Nott knew one thing for certain.
Someday the stars would tell your story too.

Summary: [ Ask: No specific storyline just a Theodore Nott story] Okay so I came up with a cute idea of my own. Theodore and you endulge yourself in a game of being in dept as the scores keep going up till it makes it almost impossible for him to forget you.
Tumblr media
“I just need a pair of books.” – you told your friends parting way with them. One of them waved you goodbye, the other two too invested in their rant about classes. You waved back before heading into the library. The librarian Madam Pince gave you an attentive eye. You smiled politely back at her hoping to get her off your back. You never knew what went through that woman’s mind. As quietly as you could, you ventured further passing all the rows you didn’t need. You focused on the marks on the side in alphabetic order.
Knowing you were nearing, you picked up your pace heading quickly into a row close to the back section. Turning in the row, you came to a sudden stop. A boy was sitting on the ground by the middle. A few books surrounded him as he was reading focused in the one he was holding. Swallowing nervously you knew very well who that was. Theodore Nott. He wasn’t really a groupie but still he hung around Draco Malfoy.
A part of you rather just left, but you really needed to be in this section. Taking an encouraging breath, you walked between the shelves, looking at the book spines. Softly mumbling the names, you glanced to the side knowing you were getting closer to Theodore. Somehow it made your heart beat a tat faster. Cursing in your head, of course you needed a book from the shelve right in front of Theodore. You came to a stop in front of him, glancing over your shoulder if he had noticed you. Seemingly he hadn’t cause he was nose deep in his book.
Stretching out your arm, your fingers brushed against the spine. Great now you couldn’t even reach it properly. Looking around there was no ladder cart near to give you that nudge to reach it. Sighing soft you got on the tips of your toes, grabbing for the spine. With little movements you tried to slip it out from between two books. It took some progress, but the book was slipping out. Pressing your hand firm against the books a shelf below, you kept balancing on your toes to take it out.
You couldn’t fully grab it as your eyes widened. The book tilted over as it would for sure hit you in the face. Yelping quietly you planted your feet down, looking away to limit the impact till a second hand brushed against your fingers. Looking up you saw Theodore had grabbed the book, holding it in place. He lowered his hand as you pulled your hand away from the book. He read the title briefly before handing the book over to you. – “Tha
thank you.” – you said nervously as he returned to his books. He barely sat down as Lorenzo Berkshire came in the row out of breath.
“Theo let’s go!” – Lorenzo called out as Theodore sighed soft. He picked up the book he was reading from the floor. – “Hurry up Theo! Malfoy is treating us to butter beer.” – Lorenzo added to persuade him to go faster. You looked from Lorenzo to Theodore. – “I
I uhm can put those away for you if you like?” – you suggested. Theodore turned round to you, quirking his eyebrow up. – “Even better.” – Lorenzo pitched in as he entered the row more. He took the books from the ground dropping them in your arms.
“Now let’s go Theo.” – Lorenzo tugged on his sleeve, pulling him away. Theodore placed the book he was holding carefully on top of the others. – “It’s alright.” – you reassured him with a smile. Before Theodore could say anything he got dragged away by Lorenzo. They ran past Madam Pince as she walked over to you. – “Silence in the library Miss Y/l/n.” – she warned you with a stern glance. You stared at her in disbelieve as it wasn’t even you who spoke loudly but rather Lorenzo. Of course she came over to slap you on the wrist.
Not even having the energy to protest, you simply nodded with an apology. Madam Pince left as you set the books down. They had started to weigh down. Taking the first book, you read the title and putted it away. So on you went till you had putted away all his books. You then sat down to go through your own book till it was nearly time to head to potions class.
You followed some students into the dungeons. Looking around there was no sign of your friends as you wondered if they were already inside or still needed to come. You went inside after some Slytherin girls. Professor Snape looking as sour as ever. – “Grab a potions book and sit down.” – he ordered overlooking his class.
The girls cleared your view as you spotted Theodore sitting at a table with Malfoy, Lorenzo, and Blaise. Theodore was staring at his cauldron a hand underneath his chin while Lorenzo and Malfoy were chatting and laughing. You didn’t mean to stare, but you kind of did. Theodore turned his head catching you stare. Widening your eyes, you quickly turned around heading for the cabinet where the potion books laid.
You sought out a nice pair as most of them had been damaged from old age. You were about to take a book when someone snatched right from underneath your nose. Already half bummed out you looked around to get your hands on another half decent copy till you noticed the book being shoved to you. Surprised you looked up to the side, seeing who was giving you the book. Panicking a bit it was Theodore Nott. – “Thank you for before.” – he said poking the book at you. – “Oh
 no
no worries.” – you answered shyly. – “Now we’re even.” – you chuckled as he frowned.
“You know
with you stopping that book and me putting your books away.” – you specified seeing him crack a tiny smile. – “Does this make it two?” – he said still holding the book out for you. – “Y/n.” – you blurted out wanting him to know your name for some reason. – “I know.” – he responded placing the book in your hand. He then returned to his table, greeted by curious glances from his friends.
Lorenzo immediately joined his side wanting details about who you were. You were daydreaming a bit till a voice cleared his throat behind you. Shrieking soft it was Snape that had come to stand behind you. – “Your seat Miss Y/l/n.” – he spoke as you hurried to your seat. Cauldrons were bubbling as you could make out Theodore’s figure faintly through the fog coming from your cauldron. He was ever so focused on his potion.
Tossing in ingredients and stirring rightly. Professor Snape came to his table, congratulating him for his excellent skills. You clapped along a few students to praise the compliment. Professor Snape continued his round eventually stopping at your cauldron. You gave him a smile as he peered inside your cauldron. He pulled up his nose, clearly not impressed by your skills.
Sighing loud it was a downer as you didn’t feel like finishing it anymore knowing it would be not well enough. Resting your chin against your hand, you gave up. Mindlessly you looked around till you saw Theodore look your way. He held up an ingredient pointing subtly at it. Furrowing your brows you weren’t sure if wanted to say something to you. He kept pointing at it gesturing with his eyes to take the hint.
You looked around your table for anything that looked the same. Grabbing a few black sticks, you held it up questionable. Theodore nodded from afar motioning to the cauldron. You hesitantly threw it in the cauldron watching the reaction. Eyes widening as the color changed. Professor Snape rounded your table again. The color caught his eye as he peered inside. You waited anxiously for his reply. He hummed deep that sounded like better, but not perfect yet.
You smiled showing your thumbs up to Theodore as a thank you. He smiled back at you before his attention got drawn to Lorenzo speaking loudly. You left potions class with some satisfaction. You didn’t completely fall, that was a good start. Catching up with your friends you went towards your next class. The four of you heard the loud clock making you frantically pick up your pace to be in time. Professor Flitwick was one of punctuality. The four of you started running up the changing stairs knowing you had about five more minutes till Professor Flitwick would start his lesson.
Out of breath you arrived at the classroom. Huffing loud, you were glad you had made it. Professor Flitwick was still sorting his books, standing with his back to the students. You were about to enter as your friends had already gone inside as you saw two boys run over in a haste. They were so out of breath as you knew they would be late. Slightly your eyes widened seeing it was Theodore and Lorenzo. Professor Flitwick was about to turn around and speak to the class as you panicked.
Pulling out your wand, you whispered with a flick of your wrist. The stack of books toggled over as Professor Flitwick sighed loud. He bend down to pick them up and stack them again as he needed them to stand up on. You motioned to Lorenzo and Theodore to hurry up in the doorway. Lorenzo launched himself inside as you grabbed Theodore by the sleeve, pulling him inside just in time. – “Two to three.” – you told him with a wink. Theodore who was still catching his breath frowned.
“Are
are you keeping score Y/n Y/l/m?” – he asked with a smile. – “Maybe.” – you answered following him the seats. Lorenzo pulled Theodore with him as you sat with your friends, just in time as Professor Flitwick was ready. You were kind of glad he was sitting behind you so you wouldn’t be distracted by him. You thought yourself so bold for keeping indeed score of favors. Theodore had done you three favors already as you were at two. The competitive side in you wanted to make it even.
You kept thinking about ways to make it even that you hardly paid attention in class. You were so drifted off that you got startled by Professor Flitwick calling out your name. – “Miss Y/l/n.” – he said looking curious over at you. – “Yes Professor.” – you replied loud straightening your back. – “The question
I’d like you to answer it.” – he spoke as you panicked.
You hadn’t heard any question at all. What would you even say. The way the professor was looking at you made you feel ashamed for not listening. – “The answer
 well
 the answer to your question
is
” – you started to stall. You still weren’t sure what to answer till you heard someone whisper the answer to you from behind. Without even thinking if it was even right you repeated the answer out loud. – “Oh wonderful miss Y/l/n.” – Professor Flitwick complimented. – “Now
” – he started turning a bit round to demonstrate.
You looked over your shoulder to whoever whispered you the answer. Theodore was smirking holding three fingers up. He flipped his hand showing off four fingers with a wink. You rolled your eyes at how smug he looked. Lorenzo stared confused between the two of you, trying to figure out what was going on. Class ended as you followed your friends back to the common room. The next day you were walking the open corridors surrounding the courtyard. You made your way over to the grass fields behind it.
Immediately you spotted Theodore leaning against a tree. Lorenzo laying on the bench, one knee up as Blaise sitting down on the grass, leaning against the stone bench Lorenzo laid on. Malfoy no where to be seen. You noticed how indecent their clothing was. Ties hanging loose. Their shirt hanging out of their pants, sticking underneath their sweater. In the distance you spotted Professor McGonagall knowing if she saw it, she’s scold them for wearing their school uniform with no respect.
Pulling out your wand, you flicked it at Theodore. Theodore got startled as his tie knotted around his neck and his shirt got tugged in. Not a moment later passed Professor McGonagall past. She cleared her throat loud. – “Mister Berkshire and Zambini!” – she called out with a stern look. Lorenzo shot up as Blaise jumped up. – “That will cost you five points each.” – she pointed with her scroll at their uniform. She then took a look at Theodore. – “You should take an example from Mister Nott.” – she said waiting for Lorenzo and Blaise to do their uniform right.
Lorenzo puffed loud once she had left. – “Unfair that witch is just out to get us.” – Lorenzo grunted out. Theodore was relieved that he had not been caught but who
He looked around spotting you by the large tree. You wiggled three fingers at him, pointing out the score. Theodore laughed loud making Lorenzo nudge him thinking he was laughing him out. By the end of the week the score was around six for Theodore and seven for you.
You were gleaming with proud to be on the winning side. Walking by yourself the fourth floor with a constant smile on your face. – “Y/n!” – you suddenly heard making you pause. Theodore came running over. He grabbed your arm, pushing you against the wall, coming to stand before you so you couldn’t escape him. – “Why are you making it impossible for me to forget you.” – he asked staring down on you. – “Maybe you shouldn’t.” – you responded feeling yourself drawn to him. Theodore smirked pressing a hand above your head to the wall.
“I won’t stop till I win.” – you told him. Theodore licked his lips briefly, tilting your chin up by his thumb. – “I’m not backing down.” – he answered leaning in closer. – “Good.” – you whispered drawing closer to him. His eyes flashed from your eyes to your lips, taking them in attentively. – “Go on
kiss me.” – you said wanting him to.
Theodore smiled. – “Is that a favor Y/n?” – he answered. – “I’ll take that as a point.” – he added as you grabbed a hold of his shirt. – “Do what you want.” – you replied not caring if the score was even now. You just wanted his lips on yours. Theodore’s hand slid up your cheek, cherishing it as he drew your lips nearer to his. – “Even.” – he whispered before pressing his lips against you.

Theodore. Fucking. Nott.
Those three words fueled your rampage as you marched across the quidditch pitch. The audacity of that cocky, arrogant, silver tongued Slytherin knew no bounds. For years, you tolerated the pompous prick and the rivalry between you, but today he had finally gone too far.
You cleared the field in less than a minute, passing by confused players as you angrily seethed. You spotted a shock of familiar platinum blonde hair and walked right up to Draco Malfoy.
“Where the hell is he?”
He chuckled, perfectly aware of your longstanding enmity with his closest friend. “What’s he done this time?”
“Where. Is. He?” you repeated through gritted teeth. “Don’t make me ask again, Malfoy.”
The blonde paled several shades when he saw the fire burning in your gaze. “Locker rooms. I wouldn’t go in there, Y/N. They’re still shower—“ Draco sighed as you brushed past him. “Whatever, it’s your funeral.”
The locker rooms were steamy, the heat and humidity clinging to your school uniform as you stalked through the aisles. The Slytherin players startled when they spotted you amongst their midst.
“Well, well, well,” Mattheo drawled as he leaned against the wall. A towel hung dangerously low on his hips and he smirked when your eyes flickered over his body. “What do we have here? A sweet little Hufflepuff marching straight into the viper’s den.”
“Where the fuck is he, Riddle?”
Mattheo grinned lazily. “You’re going to have to be more specific than that, sweetheart.”
“You know exactly who I’m talking about. Your arrogant prick of a friend who sent my fucking date to the hospital wing!”
Before you went to sleep last night, you had done so with a grin on your face after a wonderful date with Alec Stone at the Three Broomsticks, but then you arrived at breakfast this morning with no Alec in sight and the rumor mill rampant with talks of Theo pummeling some poor Ravenclaw in the courtyard.
You were going to kill him.
“Sorry, love. Doesn’t ring a bell.”
You frowned, purposely bumping against Mattheo as you walked further down the dimly lit aisle. In your trail for vengeance, you ran into a very flustered looking Enzo who yelped as he sought to cover his very naked torso.
“Y/N,” Enzo said, hastily wrapping a towel around his waist. “What are you doing in the locker rooms?”
Behind him, the sound of the shower running echoed against the marble tiles. “Is he in there?”
Berkshire’s face fell. “You heard about the fight?”
“It wasn’t a fight,” you said angrily. “He pummeled Alec so badly that he’s currently in the hospital wing with a concussion and several broken bones.”
“Just hear him out, okay?”
Your eyes nearly bugged out of your head. “Hear him out? Your precious Theodore beat the absolute shit out of my date and you want me to hear him out? For what? What reason could Theo possibly have for doing what he did to Alec? He couldn’t stand to see me have fun for two fucking seconds? This is low even for him and you know it, Enzo.”
“You don’t know the whole story, Y/N.”
“Well then please point me in the right direction so I can hear from the arsehole himself.”
“He’s in there,” Enzo said, pointing to the shower stalls. “But I’m warning you, Y/N. He’s in a proper foul mood.”
You huffed. “That makes two of us.”
The steam from the showers rose up like a malevolent fog, curling around your feet as you stormed through the stalls. You found him in the farthest corner, water trickling down his back as he faced the tiled wall. His body language was tense, like a serpent preparing to strike. A crimson trail swirled against the marble as blood dripped from Theo’s bruised knuckles. The sight of it incensed you.
“What the hell is wrong with you?”
Theo whipped his head towards your direction, his dark curls plastered against his cheek. Those watercolor eyes were stormy, the blues and greens flickering with anger as he met your gaze.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he said dismissively.
“Bullshit!” You countered, stepping further into the stall. The steam barely covered Theo’s naked form, but you weren’t about to let that deter you from demanding answers. “You owe me a fucking explanation.”
“For what?”
“For what?” you repeated incredulously. “You beat Alec within an inch of his life and that’s all you have to say for yourself? Honestly Theodore, have you gone absolutely mental?”
“He deserved it.”
“Why? Because he took me out on a date? Because you couldn’t stand to let me have this one thing? You absolutely loathe the idea of me being even remotely happy, don’t you?”
Theo clenched his fists as his jaw twitched in anger. “No. I loathe the idea of that miserable excuse of a human being breathing the same air as you.”
“So you beat him to a bloody pulp?”
His voice was cold and icy, cutting through you like glass. “He’s lucky I didn’t do worse.”
“What do you have against Alec?” You moved closer to Theo, closing the gap as you poked his chest. The shower streamed over the both of you, blurring your vision. The water was hot against your skin, but it paled against the heat of your own anger. “What did he ever do to you, Theo?”
Theo gripped your wrist. You were vaguely aware of his nakedness, but he made no move to hide it and you were too furious to even care. “Don’t say his name. I can’t bear to hear you say it after what he said about you this morning.”
You stepped backward, flinching. “What—what are you talking about?”
When you met his gaze, you startled. You’d never seen Theo this angry before. His eyes, which were usually dead and expressionless, burned with a cold sort of fury.
“I heard him in the courtyard, bragging to his stupid friends. I thought he was just chatting shit, so I kept back. I only came down for a smoke, but then he said your name.”
The pit in your stomach grew. “What did he say?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. You weren’t sure you wanted to know. Not if he was this angry over it.
“The stupid fucking prick was talking about your date. The dress you wore. The smiles you gave him. The hand holding through Hogsmeade. Then one of his gormless mates asked if he got lucky.”
You froze at his words as a horrible feeling washed over you. Theo loosened his grip on your wrist, but didn’t let go.
“Do you know what that sodding idiot said? I will, soon enough. I can tell she’s raring to go.”
Tears pricked at your eyes. You felt like you were going to be violently sick.
“And his friends—those miserable fucking wankers started betting on how long it would take. Two dates. Three. A month.” Theo’s hands were shaking, violence spilling over into his veins. “That smug tosser smirked and said he could’ve had you out in the hallway. That’s how eager you were.”
“I barely even touched him!” you said angrily. “I kissed his cheek good night and that was it.”
“I know,” Theo said, his voice low and rough. “I know you. I knew he was lying, so I fucking lost it. I walked over there and just punched and punched until my knuckles were bloody and bruised and all I could see was red. I wanted to wipe that stupid fucking smirk off his mouth.”
You could picture Theo putting out his cigarette ever so calmly before walking over to throw the first punch. You’d seen him fight before. He was relentless. Where Mattheo was pure fire and rage, Theo was as cold as ice. There was nothing but lethal calm in those dead eyes as he delivered blow after blow in absolute silence.
“Eventually, Blaise and Enzo pulled me off of that prick.” He averted his gaze as if remembering the moment. “When his idiot friends finally peeled him off the floor, I spit on the fucker. I told him to consider it a warning. That I’d do a lot worse if I ever heard your name come out of his mouth again. I promised him that a concussion would be the least of his worries if he didn’t stay the fuck away from you.”
The tears fell down your cheeks despite your efforts to keep them in. The anger all but faded from Theo’s eyes as soon as he realized that you were crying. You were so, so stupid. For thinking Alec was a nice guy. For being so giddy after your date only for him to turn around and spit vile lies about you.
For crying in front of your worst enemy.
The color drained from Theo’s face as you cried into your hands. You felt him shift beside you, debating whether or not to come closer.
“Don’t,” you said through a broken sob. “Don’t come near me.”
Theo flinched at your words, looking visibly pained. His voice was soft and soothing when he spoke again. “Tell me how to fix it. Do you want to yell at me? Punch me? Go ahead, love. I can take it.” He sounded desperate. “Just please, please don’t cry.”
You hugged your arms around your waist and glared at him. “Why do you even care?”
He paused, fingers flexing at his side as he fought the urge to reach out and comfort you.
“Because I care about you!” The exasperation in his voice made your chest tighten. “I care that you let that stupid idiot take you on a date to the Three Broomsticks. I care that you fucking smiled at him when he gave you roses even though I know you prefer sunflowers. I care that you kissed him on the cheek when he dropped you off at your dorm.”
You sniffled, utterly perplexed at his words. “I don’t understand. We hate each other!”
Theo visibly softened, the tension leaving his body. “I could never hate you, Y/N.” He reached for your hand. Your first instinct was to pull away, but you let him trace soothing circles on your skin. “I may tease you. Prank you. Annoy you. But I’ve never hated you.”
Theo wiped the dried up tears from your cheeks. No fresh tears, which he took as a good sign. “I don’t even think you remember this, but I tried asking you to the Yule Ball in fourth year.”
The memory surfaced. You were reading by the Black Lake and Theo had asked if you had a date. You said no, to which he promptly asked if he could take you. You left in a huff, thinking that it was just another way to rile you up.
“I thought you were just trying to get a rise out of me. If I would’ve known
”
Theo paused. “How could you not know? How could you not see?”
The rage crashed against you like an errant wave. You didn’t know if you were angry at Theo or yourself, but you exploded either way, unable to keep your emotions under control.
“Because you never told me, you idiot!”
“I never told you, but I showed you.” He smiled crookedly. “I'm not good with words, obviously. Every time I open my mouth it’s like I say the perfect combination of words to piss you off. So I learned to tell you how I felt through my actions.”
“Haven’t you ever wondered why your favorite study spot in the library is always free? That’s because I threatened anyone who came near it. Or how you never seem to run out of quills despite the fact that you manage to break one every day from how hard you write? I always replaced them when you weren’t looking.” Your heart clenched at his words. “I even bribed first years to bring you hot chocolate when I knew you were pulling all nighters.”
You stood there, staring at him. This wasn’t the cocky, arrogant Theo that you knew. He was looking at you so earnestly that it physically hurt how endearing it all was.
“Why would you let me think that you were an inconsiderate jerk this whole time?”
Those hypnotizing eyes pierced right through you, filled with a sadness so heavy that you felt it weighing on your chest.
“Because at least you were thinking of me.”
You swayed gently. The water had long seeped into your bones, making you shiver as all of your clothes stuck to your skin like paper. You were convinced that your body had gone into shock. The range of emotions you were currently experiencing was turbulent to say the least. You stood in stunned silence, just taking it all in. Then the impact of his words hit you all at once.
Theo watched as your bottom lip trembled. Panic seized him as you began crying again, this time not bothering to hide it from him. “Fuck I’m sorry, Y/N. Please don’t cry.”
He didn’t know what to do. Should he comfort you? Should he keep his distance? Theo felt like he was doing a rather exceptional job of mucking things up.
“Why are you saying sorry?” You said between hiccups. “I’m the one who should be apologizing.”
Theo caressed your cheek. So gently. Like he half-expected you to recoil. That only set a fresh wave of tears to spill onto your cheeks.
“You have nothing to apologize for, love.”
“Of course I do!” you nearly wailed. “I’ve been horrible to you. I’ve thought the worst of you, but all this time you were doing all these sweet, considerate things and I never even noticed. You should’ve told me, Theo.”
“I—I didn’t think you’d ever see me that way,” Theo said softly. “It was better to have you hate me and still be part of my life than risking not having you in it at all.”
Because at least you were thinking of me.
It was the saddest thing that you’ve ever heard. For years, Theo settled for being your enemy because he’d rather have your hatred and loathing than indifference. He sustained himself on the bare minimum because he thought that was all he deserved.
“I’m sorry, Theo. I’m so so fucking sorry.”
Theo was absolutely distressed. “Fuck, look Y/N. Let me just finish up here and get my towel and when I’m dry and slightly less naked then we can talk, okay?”
You sniffled, wiping your tears away. There was no way you could wait. Not after everything Theo had just told you. Not after everything that he’s been telling you all these years. Theo had literally and figuratively laid himself bare before you. The least you could do was to even the playing field.
So you unlaced the gold and black tie around your neck. Unbuttoned your blouse and threw it somewhere behind you. Stepped out of your skirt and stared at Theo head on.
“Oh—Merlin’s beard, what in the hell are you doing, Y/N? Are you trying to send me into cardiac arrest?”
You shook your head, smiling slightly. Theo was determined to look everywhere but at your very exposed body. You were still in your bra and panties, but the black lace really didn’t leave much to the imagination. Especially when the water clung to every inch of your skin.
“You were vulnerable with me,” you said simply. “So I’m returning the favor.”
Theo felt like he was definitely headed for an early grave. He tried to think of something—anything—other than the girl he’s been head over heels for since third year standing naked in front of him.
“Theo,” you said softly. His name had never sounded half as good coming out of anyone else’s mouth. He wanted to bottle the sound. “Can I—can I hug you?”
He could’ve sworn that his heart had stopped beating. The air had all but left his lungs, deflating his entire body as though he’d fallen off his broom and plummeted through the sky at breakneck speed.
Theo didn’t recognize his own voice as he said, “Of course you can, Y/N.”
The words were barely out of his mouth before you dashed into his arms, nearly toppling him over from the force of it. You were a tiny little thing, but you were stronger than you looked. He smiled as you wrapped your arms around his neck, standing on your tiptoes as you hugged him. For a minute you and Theo just stood there under the trickling water, holding each other as though you were the only two people alive.
If this was all the affection you were willing to give him, Theo would’ve been content to hold onto you until you grew tired of him. His slender fingers traced down your spine, drawing soothing circles against your skin as you buried your face in the crook of his neck. You felt safe. Like nothing bad could ever happen as long as you were with him.
You couldn’t remember the last time you’d felt like this. There was just this spark between you. Perhaps that was part of the reason why you had been so angry this morning.
It hadn’t just been because Theo sent Alec to the hospital wing, which you were now thankful for after hearing all the disgusting things he said about you. It was also because you thought that he had ruined your chance of feeling that rush with someone else. The same rush you got when the two of you were arguing. The same rush that was noticeably missing when you kissed Alec last night.
Things with Theo had always been electric. You attributed it to mutual loathing, but that wasn’t the full story. Sure he made your blood boil sometimes, but he also made you feel alive. You were terrified to admit it to yourself, which is probably why you said yes to Alec in the first place.
You sighed as Theo’s fingers tangled through your hair. He gently pulled your head back and looked at you in the most heartbreaking way.
“Y/N,” he said hoarsely. Theo’s gaze dipped to your mouth as his arm snaked around your waist. “I think I might die if I go one more second without kissing you. Will you please put me out of my misery, love?”
You couldn’t help but smile. “Gladly.”
Theo held his breath as you pulled him down to you, lips brushing shyly at first. Then you leaned in and kissed him. And he truly and honestly thought that he had died.
Your lips were soft against his, tasting of strawberries and mint toothpaste. He cupped the back of your head and tilted your chin to deepen the kiss. Before, Theo thought he could’ve sustained himself from a simple hug, but right now, he couldn’t even control himself as he gorged himself on your taste.
He chuckled when you tried and failed to get on your tiptoes to offset the height difference between you. Theo caressed your cheek and smiled against your mouth.
“Need some help, love?”
You nodded before pulling him back down again. This time, the tender kisses turned more heated as he locked your legs around his waist and pressed your back against the wall. You gasped as the cold tile made contact with your bare skin and Theo took the opportunity to slide his tongue against yours.
Merlin’s beard. Theo kissed with his entire body. There wasn’t an inch of you that wasn’t touching him and the skin to skin contact set your body on fire. You’d kissed other boys before, but they paled in comparison. You couldn’t get enough of Theo. You ran your fingers through his hair. Wrapped your legs more tightly around his waist. Trailed kisses along his jaw and neck and throat.
Then he fucking moaned.
It was a low, rumbling sound that sent tremors over your body and shook every fiber of your being like a devastating earthquake. You wanted to hear him make that sound over and over again.
“Y/N,” Theo said, his forehead dropping to yours. “Before I lose all sense of self, I want to—no—I need to tell you—”
“What is it, Theo?”
“If we do this, then you have to understand what it means to me,” Theo whispered. “I may be terrible with words, but it’s important for me that you hear me when I say this. I want you. Not just physically, but in every sense of the word. I wanted you in third year when you first told me off for being a dick to the first years and I want you now even though you came in here to defend a prick that definitely doesn’t deserve it.”
“What are you saying, Theo?”
“I want you to be mine, Y/N.”
You beamed. “Like, your girlfriend?”
“I don’t think girlfriend is a strong enough word to express how I feel for you, but it’s a start.” He moved the hair out of your face and cradled your cheek. “So yes, I suppose I do want you to be my girlfriend. I want to hold hands with you in the hallways. I want to look up at the stands during my games and see you cheering me on. I want to take you up to the Astronomy Tower and kiss you under the stars.”
“And you say you’re bad with words,” you teased. “I want to do all those things and more with you, Theodore Nott. Of course I’ll be your girlfriend.”
“Good, cause you’re mine.” Theo said matter-of-factly, those adorable dimples making an appearance on each cheek. “You were mine even before you knew it.”
He kissed you again, but this time it was soft and sweet and it filled your stomach with butterflies. Theo no longer felt the need to hoard as much of your affection as he could because you had just given him the ultimate reassurance that he would have plenty of you in the future.
You sighed contently against him, toying with the curls at the nape of his neck. He shifted, pressing kisses against your neck. Your fingers froze when you felt him stir underneath you.
“Theo,” you said slowly, biting back a smirk. “Is that what I think it is pressing against my leg?”
He groaned. “We’re half naked, in the shower, heavily making out, and you just agreed to be my girlfriend. Of course I’m hard.”
You stifled a laugh. “Theodore Nott, is emotional intimacy turning you on?”
“Everything about you turns me on.”
“That’s helpful to know,” you said with a little smirk. “Especially when we're dueling and I’m losing.”
“Merlin’s beard. My girlfriend’s downright evil.”
You grinned so hard that your cheeks ached. Theo peppered kisses all over your face before setting you down.
“I suppose we should head to dinner soon. My teammates watched you march in here in a fit of rage. They might think you’ve murdered me.”
“There’s only one problem,” you said as you finally turned off the shower. “I’m soaking wet.”
“I bet you are, darling.”
You rolled your eyes. “From the shower, you wanker.”
He grinned and kissed the top of your head. “It’s alright. I’ve got some extra clothes in my locker.”
Ten minutes later, the two of you walked out in the quidditch pitch hand in hand. Theo’s sweater completely enveloped you and he smiled a little at the sight. You received a few interesting stares as you made your way through the castle halls, but one look from Theo and they all quickly found something else to gawk at. Having a scary boyfriend was already paying off.
On the way to dinner, you ran into Enzo. The git had the biggest smile on his face when he saw that you and Theo were holding hands. “So you heard him out after all, huh?”
“Yeah, we sorted out our differences,” you said with a smile. “Coincidentally, I gained a boyfriend out of the whole ordeal. Happy now, Berkshire?”
“Absolutely chuffed,” Enzo said with a grin. “See you lovebirds at dinner.”
Theo rolled his eyes as his friend disappeared into the Great Hall. He turned, squeezing your fingers. “I should warn you. My friends can be a bit
much.”
“Don’t worry, I think we all got fairly acquainted in the locker rooms. If they tease us, well I’ve got a perfectly scary boyfriend to fend them off.”
He chuckled. “A scary boyfriend with an even more terrifying girlfriend.”
You winked, kissing his bruised knuckles. “This school won’t know what hit them.”
“Neither did Alec,” he said with a satisfied smirk. You gave him a reprimanding glare, but it was half-hearted. You didn’t actually feel sorry for the prick. “Sorry. Too soon?”
“You know you can’t punch everyone that says anything bad about me, right?”
“Of course not. I’m perfectly capable of kicking them too.”
You rolled your eyes fondly. “Shut up and kiss me, Theo.”
“Yes ma'am.”

It’s been a few months since Empires s2 came to an end and I wanted to make a piece reflecting on the time we spent with these characters đŸ„°âœš When season 1 ended I did a series of paintings set to the End Poem, and so I decided to revisit the concept once again, making sure to switch up which line corresponded to which person. This series means a lot to me—in fact, this is one of two big Empires s2 projects I’ve been working on! There’s another one still in the works :D

By NEWTS & Nott | Theodore Nott
Synopsis: The stress from studying for your NEWT level classes has you spiraling into confusion from burnout, and perhaps, simultaneously inspiring a certain slytherin to approach you. But it was all a coincidence, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Theodore Nott x Gryffindor!Reader
Notes: Cursing, Affection (oh my goodness). I love Theo. Like my mind is constantly just <3 Theo <3.
Tumblr media
The gloom that permeated through the air was unusually suffocating. The grey clouds that scattered across the almost equally dull sky left little room for enthusiasm to float about. Many students were beginning to fall into the pattern of procrastinating on their essays, the notorious wave of burnout that swept through the student body every year was at its most unforgiving.
This year seemed almost worse than last year’s and you were sure it has already done a number on you. Hermione, ever the scholar, was amongst the very few who were managing fairly well for the most part. Your frizzy-haired friend was currently sitting across from you in the library, face buried in a book as she mumbled quietly, albeit furiously, about Harry’s sudden overwhelming success in Potions.
You yourself were quite impressed at Harry’s new penchant for the subject and you weren’t sure if his newfound success had anything to do with having a Potions professor who didn’t seem to loathe his existence or if he was suddenly gifted by mother magic with a potions mastery.
NEWT level classes were definitely proving to be a challenge for you, and your head was pounding from trying to make sense of the Runes assignment in front of you. You weren’t Hermione by any means, but you would consider yourself to be another top student in your year, having a particular talent for Transfiguration.
“‘Mione, maybe Harry just studied a little bit extra or something. Besides, it’s a great thing that he’s thriving, especially in potions. Merlin knows this spurn of success was needed given his previous record.”
The girl’s head shoots up at your words, eyebrows drawn in frustration, “But Y/N, it just doesn’t make any sense! I followed the instructions exactly! Harry said he did as well, so why are all of my potions off?”
Ah, ever the perfectionist.
As she continued her tangent, her voice began to slowly rise in volume before her last words were bouncing around the bookshelves and causing other students to turn towards you.
“Mione, please speak a little lower! And it doesn’t matter, you’re still the top student in a lot of the other classes anyway. Besides, Slughorn is still impressed with your work regardless, that Slug Club invitation is proof of it.” Your hushed whispers seemed to quell her and she nodded along, seeming to accept your encouragement. As if suddenly feeling the burning gazes being shot at the two of you, she quickly turned and apologized silently to everyone she disturbed.
As she turned back to the book in front of her, you slowly looked around to rest your eyes. As your gaze flitted to the table next to yours, your eyes widened as you made eye contact with a familiar slytherin.
Of course, it just happened to be him of all people.
Theodore Nott happened to be one of the very few students in your year who could match Hermione’s academic prowess. You remembered starkly him beating out Draco and Hermione in Charms and Runes last year, shocking your friend group immensely– Hermione most of all. He was often seen walking with Draco and Daphne Greengrass, but he kept to himself for the most part. Despite his quieter disposition, you heard his name whispered often by girls who were longing to gain his attention and affection.
And from the way he carried himself, it was obvious that Theodore Nott was an impressive wizard.
He also just so happened to be staring at you at the current moment, no doubt having been disturbed by Hermione moments earlier.
Slapping on an apologetic smile, you nod to him before turning back to your Runes assignment.
Nope. Not awkward at all.
Your heart was beating furiously in your chest and you were beginning to fear that its quickened pace would either cause you to pass out or be loud enough for him to hear. You had never really talked to the boy, only being able to recall moments of fleeting nods and awkward eye contact between the two of you.
Of course, that didn’t stop you from admiring his talents and his admittedly, above-average looks. You also appreciated his tendency to ignore people rather than berate and bully them like other slytherins in your year.
You were sure that he at least knew of you, if not due to your involvement in Harry’s circle, then due to your consistent residency at the top of the academic hierarchy.
And a little part of you did hope that he took notice of you, not that you’d ever admit it aloud.
–
The bags under your eyes could probably carry the weight of the troll you accidentally concussed in your first year, the unforgiving curriculum chipping away at the amount of rest you got every night.
The library was unusually empty that evening, allowing you to peacefully sigh and slam your head into your books without looking like a complete maniac. Moving your head from side to side to try and relieve the tension in your neck, you move to slap your hands over your cheeks.
After you were done waking yourself up, you drew your eyebrows together and began to tackle the large chunks of small text.
‘Often mistaken for each other, the words ehwaz and eihwaz have different meanings, partnership and defense, respectively.’
You were definitely not making much progress with your Ancient Runes work, and you were growing increasingly anxious about the upcoming exam as you could slowly feel yourself slipping in the class.
Feeling a prickle on your forehead, you shoot your gaze upwards and suppress a startled gasp as you lock eyes with an amused Theodore.
When did he get here? Wait, did you get here after him? If so, how did you not notice him until now?
Perhaps, your sleep deprivation was beginning to interfere with how you function. Your lapses in memory were concerning enough for you to think of reining in your hours of daily study. As you slowly close the textbook in front of you, you watch as Theodore’s eyes dart to observe your sluggish movements.
Clearly taking pity on your hunched form, he observes you for a few more moments before sliding over a sheet of parchment. Feeling your fingers twitch in suspicion, you carefully eye him before deciding that he wouldn’t try to blow you up or anything to that degree.
As you read through the paper, you feel your mouth part in shock as you realize that it was an organized chart of notes on the words you were struggling with. Theodore Nott had just given you his notes like it was the most casual thing in the world–and they were his nice notes too.
Feeling a smile pull at your lips, you shoot your head up to thank the boy, only to find the chair across from you vacant. Looking around your table, you’re only met with endless rows of bookshelves. You were left to your lonesome again, the paper in your hand being the only assurance that you hadn’t hallucinated your interaction with the quiet slytherin.
Quickly packing up your notes and books, you carefully slide Theodore’s notes into your folder as you exit the library, parting with a quick farewell to Madam Pince.
Briskly walking back to the Gryffindor common room, you shake off the strange interaction in favor of contemplating what a disaster your next Potions lesson is going to be. It was pretty formulaic by now with Harry finishing flawlessly, Hermione wandering out of the class with a lost look, Ron flying by the seat of his pants, and your constant thoughts of giving up and laying your head down.
Potions had transformed from a tense, strict environment to one of the most entertaining in a matter of just a single year. You respected Snape’s intellect and proclivity in Potions, but his prejudices diminished any inkling of passion you had for the subject.
–
You were correct in your assumption that the class would go exactly how it always went. Currently, Ron’s cauldron was smoking up a cloud that put Seamus’ usual catastrophes to shame. As you ran your finger along the list of directions for the umpteenth time, you realized that you were missing a stem of Baneberries.
How you missed it, you could only ponder at another time. You were bustling about frantically, running on a couple hours of sleep, and feeling beside yourself.
Eyeing your cauldron, you estimated that you could probably run to the storage closet and nick the stem quickly without causing too much havoc by leaving it unattended. Moving from around your table, you quickly weaved around frustrated Gryffindors and confused Slytherins and towards the high shelves of glass jars in the back of the room.
You were getting dizzy from scanning the identical towers of jars, all the labels suddenly merging together.
Baneberries would be near the top since all the ingredients were sorted alphabetically. Looking around for the ladder, you jump out of your skin as you nearly bump into a sturdy figure behind you.
Holding your chest from the scare, you peer at the person only to be met with a familiar pair of amused eyes.
Sucking in a short breath at your luck, you shoot a sheepish smile at the boy, “Nott. Hello. I didn’t notice you there. Sorry, I’m in a bit of a rush, I forgot one of my ingredients.”
Theodore raises an eyebrow at you before partially sidestepping you, reaching up towards a shelf behind you. You gaped as you realized he was crowding you against him and the shelf, unable to wiggle around the small gap he left.
Just as quickly as the awkward moment began, it ended, and Theodore was backing up and gingerly pushing a small stem of red and white berry clusters towards you.
Eyes widening in shock, you carefully grab the thin stem, accidentally pinching his cold fingers in the process, “Oh, shoot. I’m sorry. Er
but thank you, Nott. I should really go though, I think my cauldron might explode if I delay any further.”
Practically bouncing on the spot, you don’t wait to hear his response before you’re maneuvering around his figure and scurrying back to your table. Luckily, your potion was still boiling away and even looked salvageable.
“It’s perfect! That bright pink is spot on, very good Harry, my boy.” Slughorn’s jubilant voice carries around the classroom and you could see many students suppressing their groans at Harry finishing first and flawlessly, once again.
You purse your lips to contain your laughter as you see Hermione look more than mildly distressed before schooling her expression, shooting a small congratulatory smile at Harry.
What a proper mess.
Snorting quietly, you remove the stem from your berries and slowly add a few at a time, stirring the concoction three times counterclockwise. Unlike Harry’s tart pink potion, yours begins to melt into a magenta color, and you have half the mind to step back just as it gives a little rumble, a small puff of smoke shrouding over the circumference of the cauldron.
Safe to say, that is not what’s meant to happen.
Unsure whether to mourn your failed potion (once again) or not take it too seriously, you opt to just do both, and drop your chin into your hands, laughing dryly at your fate.
Quickly cleaning up around your work station, you risk a glance across the room and make eye contact with Theodore who looks vaguely entertained at your failed  potion.
Later, Harry’s bottled potion is being presented by Slughorn at the front of the class, everybody gathering around in a semi-circle to see the result. As you shuffle from leg to leg, you feel a firm chest press lightly against your back. Before you could spin around on your heel, you sense their head moving towards your ear.
“You forgot to turn down your flame and add the stem of your Angel’s Trumpet.” Theodore’s whisper sends shivers down your spine and you have to cross your arms in order to stop yourself from physically reacting.
Turning your head slightly towards his face, you huff out in exasperation, “I’m not surprised, I was pretty much running around like a headless hippogriff.”
You wryly smile, becoming accustomed to classroom failures. Luckily, it seemed that the wave of burnout was finally letting up for a few weeks before your NEWTS, so you could catch up on sleep beforehand.
A breathy laugh leaves Theodore’s lips imperceptibly and you have to fight back the pleased grin threatening to pull at your face.
Soon, Slughorn was dismissing class and you were all free to head to the dining hall for lunch. Spinning to head back to grab your book bag, you shoot a small smile at Theodore, “Nice chat, Nott. Thanks again.”
Before you’re able to brush past him, he mutters a simple correction to you, “Theo.”
“Theo. See you around.”
–
Your little exchange in potions doesn’t go unnoticed and before you could even stack up some potatoes on your plate, Hermione is dropping herself down next to you with a curious glint shining in her eyes.
Raising an eyebrow at her enthused expression, you’re unsure if you’re walking into a trap as you respond, “What’s up, ‘Mione?”
Hermione leans a little towards you before quietly whispering to you as if she was sharing a heartfelt secret, “You know what. I saw you and Nott during Potions.”
Craning your head back to look at her, you suppress the groan itching at your throat as you realize she had her mind set on getting information out of you.
“It’s nothing of that sort, ‘Mione. He was just giving me tips on my brew is all, apparently I forgot a key ingredient. I’m a proper mess and it seems to be catching the attention of other houses.” You breathe out quietly, beginning to push your food around on your plate.
Hermione grins like she knows something you don’t and replies with finality before scooping food onto her plate, “Well, he’s seated rather far away from us, don’t you agree? I wonder how he knew what you did wrong.”
Her words have you pausing as you straighten up in your seat, shooting your wide eyes to her satisfied face.
Sweet Merlin, she wasn’t called the brightest witch of your age for a half-hearted reason. In a way, you wanted to smack yourself for not realizing sooner despite how glaringly obvious it seems in hindsight.
How did he know what you did wrong?
–
It’s been a week since your potion incident with Theo, and you’ve been actively avoiding looking in his direction since that day. You absolutely would not focus on the boy, you couldn’t afford a crush, especially not one on one of the most eligible bachelors of your year.
Plus, a crush would be detrimental to your grades, and you had barely just recovered from your chronic sleep deprivation.
Unfortunately, your active avoidance of the boy only made him drift through your head more often. You even caught yourself writing his name mid-sentence while you were doing your Transfiguration essay.
At the current moment, you were sitting with your friends in the common room, listening to Harry rant about Draco, once again. It was entertaining, but you could feel Hermione shooting small glances at you from time to time, still remembering your incident with Theodore.
Crossing your arms, you finally speak up as Harry stops to catch his breath, “Harry, are you sure you’re not just interested in Malfoy? No one pays this much attention to someone without having a crush on them, I mean seriously, how do you even know how Draco likes his apples?”
Harry gapes at your words, fishing around for a logical rebuttal, but you can see how his eyes widen in realization. Ron seems plenty amused by Harry’s flailing and leans back like a satisfied wingman, even though you were the one who did all the mental gymnastics for Harry.
Hermione raises her eyebrows at your words, turning to face you before echoing your words quietly, “Yeah, no one pays that much attention to someone without it involving a crush.”
Shaking your head, you dismiss her insinuation, “It was one lesson, ‘Mione. I doubt he’s looking to court me or anything.”
Your words grab Harry and Ron’s attention and they suddenly lean over to you for an explanation. Raising your eyebrows in challenge, you successfully harden your resolve despite their puppy eyes.
Realizing that you were going to remain tight-lipped, Hermione decides to enlighten them, “A certain slytherin has taken interest in Y/N.”
“Oh please ‘Mione, I’m telling you that he’s just really observant and really good at potions.” Your last words catch a little in your throat.
Hermione grins like cheshire cat, having successfully roped you in, “Sure, and him giving you his nice notes was just a casual ordeal as well.”
Ron and Harry swing their heads back and forth between the two of you, eyes brimming with anticipation.
Ron seems to have reached the end of his patience and grabs hold of your forearms, shaking you playfully before exclaiming, “Well don’t just keep fighting, tell us who!”
Huffing in defeat, you dart your attention to the fireplace as you satiate their curiosity, “Theodore Nott.”
Harry falls back on the floor and releases a noise of surprise while Ron’s hands rip away from your arms and fly to his face.
“What? Is it that surprising?” Honestly, you were mildly insulted.
Harry is the first to speak, shaking his head reassuringly, “No, no, it’s just, you’re not considering it are you?”
Tilting your head, you’re quick to reply, “What do you mean? I mean I don’t consider it as a possibility, but what’s so wrong with Theo?”
Ron gapes in shock, “Theo?”
Hermione looks at the both of them sternly before turning to you, “I think what they’re trying to say is, Theodore might be bad news. I haven’t the faintest clue why they’d feel that way though.”
Shaking your head firmly, you shoot down their apprehension, “No way, he’s probably the most tame out of that friend group.”
The boys don’t look convinced, but Harry concedes with a quiet, “If you’re sure.”
Tired of the conversation, you stand up from the sofa and stretch your arms above your head, “Enough about me, it’s about time for dinner. Let’s head to the dining hall and talk about Harry’s crush on Draco.”
“It’s not a crush!”
—
It’s the very next morning after your conversation in the common room when something bizarre happens to you again. You had successfully evaded Theodore for a little over a week, and sometimes you could feel a pointed stare aimed at you.
As you’re pouring orange juice for yourself during breakfast, a letter drops in front of your plate as everyone gets their post. Confused by the envelope, you cast a charm to make sure it hasn’t been tampered with before picking it up.
There wasn’t a sender address on the envelope, but as you neatly tear it open and unfold the paper inside, you realize that you knew exactly who it was from.
The words were neatly written on the paper, and even without the letter’s content, you already recognized the penmanship.
Meet me after dinner tonight? Astronomy Tower.
Don’t worry, you’ll be back before curfew.
P.S. Do you need my notes again?
Unable to stop yourself, your head shoots up and towards the direction of Draco’s friend group. Immediately, your eyes lock with Theodore’s and he sends you a small smile, tilting his head subtly to ask for your answer.
Slowly nodding, you feel warmth flood your face as he breaks into a pleased grin and his eyes twinkle in victory. His expression catches the attention of his friends as they all immediately stop their conversation and follow Theodore’s gaze.
Your eyebrows nearly shoot off your face as you’re suddenly under the scrutiny of the slytherin circle. Surprisingly, Draco doesn’t jeer at you but rather smirks at you ominously, but surprisingly not with malice. Blaise and Pansy look back at Theodore and whisper furiously, their words seemingly so obscene that it tears Theo’s gaze from you and to his smiling friends.
You weren’t sure if you should be worried. Swallowing down your nervousness, you carefully fold the letter back up and tuck it away into your book bag, keeping your head down for the rest of the meal.
–
Your day seems to pass by in a blur, and soon enough you’re rising out of your seat during dinner, eyes trailing to glance at Theo, whose attention darts to your rising form.
Harry raises his head to look at you in confusion, “You’re done eating already?”
Nodding quickly, you plaster on a reassuring smile to settle your nerves, “Yeah, I’m just going to go take a walk. I’ll meet you guys in the common room before curfew.”
Your friends bid you farewell and you pace out of the hall, seeing Theodore push his plate back out of the corner of your eye. Not ready to face him quite yet, you pick up the pace as you head towards the Astronomy Tower, head filled with racing thoughts.
As you enter the top tier of the tower, you walk towards the ledge to look at the sky, deciding to just leave the door open for Theo.
A few minutes pass before you hear footsteps approaching you, your shoulders tensing in anticipation.
Theodore slowly makes his way to stand next to you, resting one arm on the stone ledge and maneuvering his body to face you. Unable to face him just yet, you opt to break the silence first, “So, why did you want to meet with me?”
“I thought you would have figured it out by now. After all, you’re quite brilliant.” Amusement colors his tone, and you were sure he was smiling at you right now.
Feeling your brain lag at the sudden compliment, you turn your head and survey him with questioning eyes before finding your voice, “It’s not like you to do all this.”
His lips tug a little at your attention, “Like what?”
Turning your body to face him fully, you’re keenly aware of the warmth emanating from his body, “Like approaching people you’re unfamiliar with and giving them your notes. Asking them to meet up with you at night. Helping them with their potions. You’re not possessed are you?”
Theodore’s nose wrinkles in amusement as his smile seems to grow impossibly wider, “So you watch me too. But no, I’m not possessed. I think we both know what the deal is though.”
Dropping your shoulders as your nerves seem to turn to jelly, you release a shaky sigh, “Then, you like me too?”
Your eyes flit across his face quickly, watching his eyes widen slowly. Smiling at you in fondness, he carefully brings up his hand to cup your face, his cool rings soothing your burning cheek.
His thumb slowly brushes across your cheek and he steps closer to your figure, leaning to close the distance between your faces, but leaving just enough room to have you wanting more.
His gaze flickers between your lips and eyes, finally breaking through the silence that settled between the two of you, “Yes, I like you too. Have for a while.”
You can’t fight your smile, and Theodore seems to be unable to wait any longer, ducking his head further towards yours, “Tell me to stop if you’re not ready.”
Laughing breathlessly at his words, you bring your hands to rest behind his neck, tugging him closer to close the faint gap between your bodies, “Not a chance in hell.”
Theodore brings a hand to wrap around your body, quickly connecting your lips. His firm grip on you has you melting against him, and you’re sure that the world completely stopped in that moment, nerves running like fireworks in your body.
You both break apart for air, donning identical grins of bliss. Unwilling to let you stray too far, Theodore doesn’t loosen his hold and opts to softly nuzzle his nose against yours, occasionally planting kisses on your cheeks.
Rubbing circles on the back of his neck, you softly laugh as you suddenly remember something, “Hermione was actually the one who helped me realize that you liked me.”
Humming at your words, Theo only pauses briefly from kissing your face to answer, “Remind me to thank her.”
Smiling softly at his clinginess, you pull your head back to get a good look at him, “Didn’t realize you were the affectionate type.”
His eyes are hazy from bliss, and he cranes his head forward to try and bring you back to him before answering, “Hm, well the last week has been rough with you avoiding me. ‘M making up for it.”
Your laugh echoes around the room, urging Theodore to lean over to nip at your ear, “What’s so funny?”
Carding your fingers through his soft lock, you have a fleeting thought about curfew before you brush it aside to answer him, “Nothing much. Just didn’t think you would get pouty about it.”
Reeling back at your words, his mouth parts in playful shock, “I don’t pout, baby.”
“That’s good since we should get going before the prefects head out.” Your words are met with a loud groan and Theodore does the exact opposite of your suggestion, deciding to instead bury his face in your neck and cling onto you.
–
“Oh bugger off! He was being the biggest baby of the century all week long, ‘I don’t pout’, my arse.” Draco’s crude words have you dropping your mouth into your hands to muffle your laughter as Theo was left to gape at his friend’s words.
Pansy nods in agreement and grabs your free hand like a relieved mother, “Trust me, I don’t know what you see in him, but I’m so glad you’re here now.”
You beam brightly at the girl, coming to realize that your previous anxiety about meeting Theo’s friends was just a waste of energy–they were nothing like your presumptions.
“Happy to be here. I was honestly driving myself mad all week trying to avoid Theo.” You don’t miss the wounded look the boy throws at you as he begins to tug on your elbow to try and drag you away from his friends.
“Theo? I remember when I tried to call him that once in third year and he nearly incinerated me.” Blaise raises his eyebrows teasingly at your deflated boyfriend, unable to resist poking fun at his usually stoic friend.
Huffing a small laugh, you interlace your fingers with Theo’s before stepping back, “Dating privileges, Zabini. Now, it was nice talking with you guys, but Theo might die from embarrassment if we linger around.”
You barely manage to say your farewells to the group, before Theo is steering you away by your shoulders, muttering up a storm about his friends.
“Don’t be lax just yet, dear. You still have to talk with my friends, remember?” Your reminder has the boy straightening his posture, evidently unsure with how to approach making conversation with your capricious group.
“They’ll like me, right?” You nearly melt into a puddle at his words.
“Hermione? Yes. Harry? Maybe. Ron? Not a chance. But I like you, and that’s all that matters. Besides, Ron is too scared to incur Hermione’s wrath to threaten you, so he won’t try to hex you or anything.” Patting his chest reassuringly, you begin to drag him through the castle, set on finding your friends.
Smiling to yourself, you were sure that your sudden relationship with the slytherin would encourage your friends to confront their own crushes.
“Oh, I think I see them! Theo, you can’t get out of this with your puppy eyes, now come on!”

Cooking class part 1 | t.n x fem!reader
Tumblr media
“Miss mcgonagall you cannot fail me!” You protested walking into her class which, unfortunately for you was full of students. “Oh, hi Hermione”
“Miss y/l/n maybe instead of interrupting my class you can come up to my desk and speak to me quietly” she sighed
“Sorry” you said walking up to her desk ignoring the eyes and laughs of the gryfindors and slytherins
“Right what have I failed you in?” She asked
“This one” you pointed to the subject called “clubs and activities”
“Miss y/l/n I’m not sure if you are aware but that’s not a subject more so an option”
“My fifth year report card is almost perfect I just need anything but an F in this” you said
“I see, well the first year cooking club is probably the only club accepting new members at the moment. If by the end of the month you show great effects in cooking club I’ll see what I can do” she smiled
“Thank you miss! This is why your my favourite” you said hugging her before making your way out the classroom and waving bye to Hermione.
“We’re sorry sir!” Draco said to a very angry mr flitwick
“You should of thought about that before you boys thought it would be funny to play a cruel prank on me!” The man replied angrily
“You’re not going to tell our parents right?” Blaise asked
“That is exactly what I’m going to do”
“Please sir, we won’t do it again my dad will kill me if you tell him” theodore begged
“I see” the teacher sighed
“How about you let us go with a warning?” Draco said with a smirk
“You’re pushing your luck mister malfoy
actually I have just the right punishment for you boys” flitwick said making the boys share a confused look
“Cooking club! My father will hear about this. Isn’t that for girls” Draco huffed as they walked towards the classroom they were told to be at.
“Believe it or not I’m a great chef” theodore laughed as they neared the door to the cooking club
“Well at least it’s only for three days” blaise sighed pushing open the door.
As they walked inside they noticed all the first years plus you looking up at them
“We thought you were the teacher” you said going back to writing on your hands
“Where is she anyway?” Draco asked annoyed
“It’s a He actually and i don’t know” you replied
“Well I guess it a free period” theodore said High fiving blaise
“why are you three here anway?” You asked them
“Punishment from flitwick” blaise replied
“Why are you here?” Draco asked
“Extra credit” Theodore answered for you “you should of seen the way she came into the room this morning” he laughed making you roll your eyes
“i didn’t know you spoke” you raised your eyebrows “i don’t think i’ve ever seen you even open your mouth”
“well you’ve caught me on a good day” he grinned
“Um excuse me” you looked next to you and saw a little girl tapping you “the teacher is terribly late and we’ve already wasted 20 minutes do you know if he’s coming?” She asked
“Oh um I’m not sure sorry”
“Oh” she looked down with sad eyes
“Oi theo didn’t you say you were a great cook?” Blaise asked
“No I didn’t” he lied
“Yes you did, if i remember correctly your exact words were, Believe it or not I’m a great chef” Blaise smirked
“Well y/n is a girl who probably should know how to cook why don’t you teach the class” Draco said
“would you do that?” The little girl said looking at you with her soft eyes
“come on l/n have a heart” draco smirked
you kissed your teeth before lifting yourself from your chair. You went to the teachers desk and read the recipe “banana bread muffins” before levitating the ingredients onto all the desks
“If you lot aren’t going to do anything move to the back” you said to the three boys who moved straight away
“Um I think your meant to partner up” you said watching all the kids go into pairs “okay so um first I think you add vanilla extract?” you questioned yourself aloud
“no you don’t” theodore said watching you with an amused expression on his face.
“oh you add the eggs”
“not yet” he said
“Okay um, you add apple?”
“That’s not even part of the ingredients” he laughed
“So help me?”
“Only because it’s pathetic seeing you try to cook” he sighed walking towards you
“First you add the bananas” he gave you a pointed look while putting an apron on
“Nice apron, pink is your colour” you said as Draco and blaise started laughing
“Shut up I’m helping you aren’t I?” He groaned
“Fine” you said throwing Draco and blaise aprons too
“This isn’t my job” Draco made a disgusted face
“If I’m doing it your doing it” Theodore said rolling up his sleeves as they complained.
“Okay next melt 1/3 cup of butter” theodore said melting it with his wand “and mix it together”
“I know what’s next!” You grinned “flour”
“Well done, you’re not that clueless then. You can measure 1 and a half cup flour for me then” he smirked
You grabbed the packet of flour and pulled both sides causing it to open everywhere covering you and theodore while all the children laughed
“I take back what I said why would you open flour like that” he said blowing flour off his arm
Once the mixture was made you, theodore and the rest of the pairs were putting it into cupcake cases. While you were filling your last case you noticed some flour on theodore’s shoulder, you reached out to wipe it. As your hand came in contact with him he stopped what he was doing for a minute
“You had flour” you said quietly pointing to his shoulder
“Oh Thank you”
“Your welcome theodore” you smiled
“theo”
“what?”
“call me theo
 please”
“Okay”
The cupcakes were in the oven and everyone was sitting down waiting, “how comes you can actually cook” you asked breaking the silence between you and theo who were sitting on the floor with your backs against a cupboard
“My mother used to cook for me while i watched, I loved watching her cook so much it was probably the best part about my childhood” he said smiling.
“aww notts a mummys boy” you teased
“yeah i was” he laughed
“wh-"
*DING*
you both jumped at the sound
“that’s loud” you stood up
“um well take your cakes out of the oven now before they burn” you said awkwardly rolling on the balls on your feet.
Once the cakes were cooked down the kids stuffed them into their pockets, seeing as there weren’t any containers (that they could find)
“Well come back tomorrow” you sighed “hopefully the teacher will show up”
Once all the children left you grabbed your bag and walked towards the door before turning to the three boys at the back of the class
“thank you for helping me today” you smiled as nott stared at you. “i’ll see you tomorrow” you left.
“Are you okay theo?” blaise asked the boy who was still staring at where you were moments ago.
“yeah, yeah she just reminded me of someone for a second”

Smitten - Theodore Nott
[ Theodore Nott x ravenclaw!reader ]
Author's note: this idea has been stuck in my head for a while and since I don't have enough scenes for a whole fanfic, I made a little drabble
Many students were bustling around in the great hall, some arriving, some already sitting down in their house table, and some chatting in front of the doors.
Your entrance quickly caught Theo's eyes after he diverted himself from the conversation the rest of his friends were having.
Theo first met you in the train in first year, quickly getting along, and when you were sorted into different houses, you rarely hung out, but would always bump into each other in the library or between classes.
It was obvious, to your friends at least. The longing looks when you weren't looking, and the constant touching of your hair, arm, or any part of you really, yet somehow you managed to shrug it off and convince yourself that it was just how Theo was.
Much to your friends' dismay, Theo's slytherin friends, apart from Blaise hadn't really took notice, since he would only look at you and talk to you whenever his friends weren't around, though this time he was surrounded by the mass amount of students when you caught his attention.
He watched as a smile played on your lips at something your friend said before mouthing something he couldn't quite decipher, and when you gave him a smile after catching his eye, he felt his pulse quicken.
"Look who's smitten." Blaise nudged him with an elbow, and Theo turned to him only to be greeted by the teasing smirk on his fellow slytherins' faces, causing heat to creep up his face at the attention.
"Amusing as this is, it's getting pathetic. Go talk to her," Blaise encouraged, giving the boy a little pat on the back.
"We're only friends," Theo mumbled almost inaudibly.
"That's the whole point of talking to her," Pansy, who was sitting in front of him, threw her hands up in exasperation, and a few seconds later her lips curved up into a smirk as she you walking towards their table. "-which might be a lot sooner than you expected."
"Hey Theo." You tapped his shoulder which spooked him a little, earning his attention. "I have your potions notebook back in my table. I copied some of it, but most of the signs I couldn't really... well, I couldn't really tell what they are."
"Oh that's alright, we can discuss it late-" It was subtle and hidden, but you could see the jab Blaise landed on Theo's side, causing him to wince. "...Or I can go show you now."
"Are you su-"
"Of course. We're basically boring him right now. You can have him." Draco smiled sweetly and it looked all too real which freaked you out.
You looked at Theo who merely shrugged and stood from his seat, waiting for you to lead the way. As you turned your back to the slytherin table, Theo looked back, and much to his annoyance, the group silently hollered and Blaise made kissing gestures, while Pansy gave him a wink.
He could only hope that you wouldn't notice the blush that arose from their suggestive comments, but unfortunately for him, his friends were nowhere near subtle.

Cupids Fourteen Love Stories Masterlist.
previous imagine.
regular masterlist.
Tumblr media
It was Valentines day week at Hogwarts, everyone was being extra touchy and lovey dovey with their partners, which Y/n despised. All her friends had someone to hang with and be all in love for valentines day leaving her alone to mourn her loneliness. It’s not that she willingly wanted to be alone, it was that her eyes were settled on someone specifically that wouldn’t even blink her way. But hope wasn’t lost completely she still had faith in getting someone for Valentines. But in the meantime she would just have to wait.
Y/n slowly looked up from her book, noticing in the table in front of her a small group of Slytherins, laughing their ass off at Merlins knows what. She quietly scanned the group quickly looking between the familiar faces but her eyes rested on the one person that could make her heart skip a beat,Theodore Nott. His face was covered with his usual soft glare look, very different from the other Slytherins beside him that had the faces adorned with a smile. There were a lot of ways Y/n could describe Theodore. He was different that’s for sure, he was dry when it came to talking he would speak the minimum or nothing at all, like he had million secrets to hide. He was quite handsome Y/n would even say he was the most handsomest guy in Slytherin. He was a brilliant student making himself the top of his class.  A bonus point was that Theodore was a  good quidditch player. But something drew Y/n toward Theodore and that was his coldness.  Theodre Nott was the opposite of Y/n and that’s what made him so interesting to her. She wanted to talk to him, break his walls, hell she could even try to make him smile for once.   Oh, what she would do to make him smile, Y/n being the cause of his smile would be the death of her. She could bet that his was the best smile in Hogwarts. But that was quite far from the reality she currently lived in.
She wasn’t friends with Theo, hell he didn’t even know of her existence. She wasn’t one to talk to other people besides her friend and adding to the fact that her big crush on him would make her run away just from a hi slipping out of his lips, she was doomed. And even if she had the courage to talk to him, theo rarely talk to his friends he wasn’t going to start talking out of the blue with her.  So Y/n only option was admiring from afar, something she had been doing since her eyes landed on the tall beauty,
She quickly stopped looking at the group focusing on the book she was previously reading while trying to catch up where she had left behind. But it was quite hard given the fact that she could only concentrate on two things Theodore Nott and her rumbling belly.
“Pst, Earth to Y/n” Her thoughts were quickly snapped by Hermione snapping her fingers in front of her face. She held a small box in her hand settling it in front of Y/n with a smile quickly sitting in front of her blocking her view of Theodore.
“What’s this?” Y/n asked while closing her book and looking at the box in front of her with a raised eyebrow.
“Someone left this next to my bag with a small note that said give to Y/n so I followed instructions.” Hermione said while shrugging her shoulders and taking the small paper and placing it beside the box.
“And you, Hermione Granger, didn’t ask any questions about it?” Y/n asked to inspect the box carefully.
“I tried. But this handwriting doesn’t seem familiar at all. Maybe it’s your mystery to solve” ]
“What’s there to solve? It’s probably Fred or George playing a stupid prank  on me.” While slowly pulling the nicely done ribbon adorning the box.
“I actually don’t think it’s a prank. We are near valentines day. Maybe you have someone that you like..” Hermione quickly gets cut off by Y/n.
“You think I have a secret admirer? Please Hermione, I think you’ve been spending so much time with Harry and Ron.” She muttered annoyed , stopping herself from opening the box.
“Y/n live a little. Someone took the time to give you something and you’re being a downer”
“Fine I’ll open it” Y/n mumbled while opening the small box. Her lips curved into a small smile noticing the cute and beautifully made cupcake inside. Y/n loved cupcakes, specifically Red velvet cupcakes. It was her  go to everything. If she was sad she ate a Red Velvet cupcake, angry red Velvet cupcake, happy  Red Velvet cupcake. Everything could be resolved with a Red Velvet cupcake. But in February it tasted so different, with more love. This was the perfect excuse to sneak as many  Red Velvet cupcakes as possible without anyone judging.Red Velvet Cupcakes were her thing. Y/n did miss the cupcakes from back home, the one’s at Hogwarts never tasted as good.  But seeing a nicely made cupcake made her remember her grandma’s baking and the cupcakes she used to make for her. Whoever made this was succeeding to get on her good side.

The next day, Y/n decided to do some light reading to catch up on some work. She headed to the library and when she finally stumbled with her usual chair she stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes trailed towards the small box similar to the day before, placed on the table where she used to sit this time with a small note.
to Y/n,
Here’s a good homemade cupcake. I hope it sweetens your day. Heard you didn’t have the best time at charms today, hope this makes you feel better.
Several thoughts went through Y/n head, one of her friends had to be pranking her. But like Herminone had mentioned the handwriting wasn’t similar to anything she had seen before, it was unknown to her. Maybe they paid someone to write it down for them. She slowly opened the box to see a cupcake similar to the one before which she sadly couldn’t enjoy because Ron had devoured it.  She slowly pulled the cupcake to her lips while looking around to see if the person was close by since the cupcake was still warm.
She took a small bite and her eyes opened widely. THe cupcake tasted exactly like the one her grandma made when she was a kid. The Red Velvet was chewy with several chocolate chips and chunks filled in the middle with a cheesecake filling and topped with a wonderful cream cheese frosting. It was God sent on eart which made her quickly trow her head back out a pleasure while taking another big bite of the cupcake. But her happiness came to a stop when it came to her head the fact that no one besides her family knew about the cheesecake filling so she instantly knew that the cupcake wasn’t made by anyone close to her. But who would just leave a random cupcake for her? twice? That was something she was going to find out.
The girl slowly turned the paper that was previously written on and wrote down:
to the anonymous red velvet cupcake baker,
I’m suspicious about the fact that you know my grandma’s recipe. But I wanted to say thank you for those cupcakes!! It was so lovely.

Two days left before Valentine’s day and all she had was one letter and two eaten cupcakes but none to thank personally. Hermione and her tried deducing who could be a good baker but no one could guess that simple detail. It was driving her insane, she couldn’t think straight all day, all night, everything revolved around those cupcakes and that damn anonymous baker. Hell, she even asked her grandma if she had given anyone the family recipe, which she quickly responded offended with a no. So she decided to relax and followed her normal routine, ending her day as she always did, at the library. A smile grew on her face when she noticed another box where she usually sat at, again. She quickly walked up to it trying not to fall in the process. She quickly took the note in her hands and read it.
dear red velvet cupcakes enjoyer,
I see we’re on a code name basis. Here’s another cupcake to ease your nerves, just enjoy it. Maybe if you relax I’ll personally deliver a dozen to you. Made it with lots of love.
love,  anonymous red velvet cupcake baker.
Y/n looked around again trying to see if someone was near her but again she found herself with no one around her. She took another bite enjoying the sweet gooeyness. She quickly shook her head and took her pen out to leave them a little note.
dear anonymous red velvet cupcake baker,
I see you added peppermint, makes me assume you like mint chocolate ice cream which scares me a lot. Better luck next time.
love, red velvet cupcake enjoyer.

Valentine’s Day finally came and by the look of it more people had coupled up, even more than before making Y/n more annoyed than ever. All she wanted to do was eat her cupcakes. She counted the hours wanting to see what the mystery person left. So far Y/n had a horrible day but her smile didn’t fall not even once waiting and wishing to try the red velvet sweetness. So in her free period she quickly ran towards the library pushing through the people in front of her. Her smile slowly dropped, noticing the empty table in front of her. She sighed while sitting down on her usual chair this time with a different energy. She pulled out her book and attempted to study. Lost in her books she lost track of time noticing she was late to her charms class. She quickly ran the halls trying to get to her lecture as quickly as possible. When she finally passed the door and excused herself with her professor she almost walked back out when her eyes stumbled upon the empty chair next to Theodore Nott. She quickly walked towards the chair sitting quietly trying to catch on the notes that were previously given. It was no surprise that she was failing the class and she least needed to be late. But what surprised her even more was Theodrore Nott’s notes slipping across the table so she could copy them off from.
“Thanks” quickly mumbled while messily writing her notes which Theodore simply nodded while looking towards the professor.
When the class finally ended and the class started to leave the classroom. Y/n picked up her bag ready to leave but she quickly stopped dead in her tracks when she heard those four letters slipped out of those lips.
“Here”
She quickly looked up towards him, her mouth opening like a fish under water. She quickly noticed the small smile plaster on his face. She tried to understand what was happening. She opened her mouth but words didn’t seem to come out of her lips. She could feel her face turn hot and she couldn’t look him straight in the eyes. All she did was look down at the box in his left hand and the bouquet of flowers in his right. She had no idea how he even hid that so well
“Excuse me?” she tried to get out. It was barely understandable, he had to lean over to hear her right.
“I thought you read the letters I wrote? I said I was going to give them personally to you” he said while directing the box and roses towards you.
“Wait, you were the one making the cupcakes?” She asked, starting to think it was all a prank. What was happening. c
“Yes! Why are you so surprised? Didn’t expect me to be good at baking?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. It was the first time  she had heard him speak that much.
“I just didn’t expect Theodore Nott to anonymously leave me Red Velvet cupcakes in an attempt to show me he knows my “secret” recipe.” She said while taking the box and flowers in her hands.
“Go ahead, try it!” He said patiently, waiting for her reaction to the cupcakes. She quickly took a cupcake out of the box and slowly brought up a cupcake towards her lips taking a bite while closing her eyes softly.
“Well, you excelled your duties as a baker. It tastes amazing” She responded with a smile. Theodore slowly leaned towards her making her nervously stop dead in her tracks. He passed her thumb against her lips, cleaning the excessive amount of frosting. He quickly pulled his towards his own lips tasting it.
“Took my chances. So, Y/n’s secret recipe is cheesecake filling.”
“Shh, don’t say it too loudly, you’ll ruin the family recipe.” She responded playfully with a smile.
“Sorry, Sorry but you should tell that to Hermione” He said acting confused
“I don’t understand,” Y/n asked, scrunching up her nose.
“She was the one that gave me your grandmas address to owl her for the recipe”
“Wait, you asked my grandma for her recipe? That traitor she told me she had no idea about anyone else knowing about that recipe ”
“Well now we have to keep it in our family” Theodore said winking at her
“Slow down Theo. Take me out to dinner first then I’ll decide if I’ll marry you” She said sarcastically.
“Bold” he laughed
“But seriously,  why were you doing all of this in the first place?” She asked, confused.
“You make this cute little face when you bite the cupcakes. I wanted to be the one that made you do that adorable face.”

He decided that doing his homework in the library is the best decision, but of course he cannot have a second of peace anywhere. Of course she's here. She's everywhere he goes.
She's sitting alone at a table in the back of the library, the candles giving her a subtle glow that makes her look ethereal. Now how could he study, knowing that the gorgeous Y/N is only a few tables away from him? He would rather die, than admit his little crush on her, knowing that his friends would mock him. He doesn't have a chance anyway. But she's pretty. And kind, and smart and she's always a distraction. He doesn't know why, or how, but she's so mesmerizing to him, that he needed to avoid her as much as possible. Obviously, it wasn't working, and somehow, he always ended up right next to her, unable to act like a human being.
He's so deep in thoughts that he doesn't realize that his legs are moving on their own, until he's standing right beside her.
"Is this seat taken?" he asks suddenly, his voice is deep and raspy, and she stares at him in confusion. The library is empty, why does he want to sit here with her? Yeah sure, they have talked before, and they have many classes together, but they are pretty far from being friends. There's no reason for him to sit next to her. Unless
Unless this is another prank of him and his Slytherin friends.
Theo's expression is unreadable, she can't tell whether he's joking or not. But he doesn't move as he waits for an answer, eyes fixated on hers. Warmth creeps up her neck and cheeks as she silently nods, and without another word, he sits down to work on his essay.
Theodore can't focus on his homework for long, far too aware of her presence. He moves his chair closer to her, and puts his hands on the table. She's fidgeting with a few pages of the book she's reading, obviously nervous. Is he the reason she's nervous? Because right now, he finds it a little bit harder to breathe, and his heart is hammering in his chest. In any other situation, he would find these feelings repulsive and scary, but next to her it's exciting, it's pleasant. It's new. Does she feel the same?
He's unsure of what to do now, he can't do anything like this. Her perfume lingers in the air, and like an invisible rope, it's pulling him in, closer to her. His eyes are unable to focus on the words of the book. The urge to touch her hand is unbearable, his hands are itching to move just a little bit.
After a few moments, he moves his left hand again, his fingers barely touching hers, and her fidgeting stops. And his breathing stops. Neither of them move, as they bask in the feeling of electricity rushing through their blood from the small contact. Theo swallows the lump in his throat. He feels so out of control. He takes in a deep breath, and flexes his hand on top of hers before gently intertwining their fingers. She's totally still, unable to move, but Theo does not let her go. He can't. Not until she looks at him with those beautiful eyes. He drags his thumb across her skin, and finally, oh finally, she raises her head.
And the addicting, warm feeling runs through his veins like wildfire. He thought he could look away, as soon as he had her attention, he thought that a few seconds would be enough, but no. It's not enough. He suddenly needs more, more attention, more touching, more of her.
Her eyes are wide and shining, and he would give his soul to the devil to know what she's thinking right now. Does she see him as others? Does she find him scary? Or does she feel what he's feeling? It's so intense, so obvious, there's no way she can't feel this pull.
Her eyes are enchanting him, he's never felt like this before. He's not only unable to look anywhere, he doesn't even want to. Because in the dim light of the library candles, she resembles an angel. A fairy. A Greek goddess. She's so breathtaking, and he's so close to get on his knees and tell her all the things that run through his head, but a sudden voice pulls them out of the trance.
"Nott, where the bloody hell are you?" Blaise yells, and the librarian hushes him. He mumbles a quiet sorry. "There you are! Been looking for you dude. What are you doing here alone?" Theo raises an eyebrow. Can't he see that he is busy?
"I'm doing my homework w-" he tries to point out the obvious, but he can't. Because she's no longer sitting in front of him. What? Where did she go? She can't just disappear.
"Please do not run Miss Y/L/N! Nobody knows how to behave in a library."
He fucked up. He fucked up really bad, and now he's sure she's avoiding him on purpose. He can't do this, he feels miserable. No matter what he does, how loud he is, she acts like he doesn't even exist and it kills him inside.
"Could you at least pretend that you are listening to me?" Blaise asks Theo, who seems to be in a different world.
"I heard you Blaise, I'm pretty sure, everyone in this bloody school can hear every word you say."
Although he can't say that he comprehended every word, not when it feels like a million butterflies fluttering in his chest.
"For Merlin's sake, go and talk to her," Blaise groans when he realizes Theo's problem.
Out of all of his friends, only Blaise can read him like a book, and sometimes even he has a hard time figuring out what's going on with Theo. But not this time. This time it's so clear to him that it's actually annoying, how clueless Theo is. Does he really think he can't notice how his eyes keep drifting her way? Or how he sits up taller when he hears her voice?
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't act like you are stupid, Nott."
"I'm not acting like -"
"Oh so you're actually just stupid, great," Theo rolls his eyes at Blaise. He's really not in the mood right now. "You were with her at the library, weren't you?"
Theo just sighs, running a hand through his hair. Yes he was, but what does that matter? He couldn't even say a single word to her because Blaise is right, he really is just stupid. So stupid.
"I just
I sat down. I wanted to talk to her. But she didn't even want to look at me, and I... I probably looked stupid as fuck," he whispers, trying not to interupt Professor McGonagall's lesson.
"Yeah you probably did."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome. That's what friends are for, right?" Blaise smiles, trying to cheer him up a bit.
"She might not even know my name and I just sat there like an idiot, not saying anything."
"I'm going to be honest with you, because I love you. You are scary, dude. Like really scary. With the death stare you got going on. You know what I mean. The- yeah, that face! Exactly," Blaise points at him, and Theo slams his forehead on the table. That's just the way his face is, what is he supposed to do? "I'm not saying you scared her to death, but the chances are higher than you think."
Is that true? Is she really scared of him? He knows most people are either scared of him, or hate him, but he's not doing anything on purpose. Especially not when it comes to her.
But he is like this by nature, he can't do anything about that. He also couldn't care less about his reputation, how others speak of him, because why would he? He knows himself, his friends know him, and that's all that matters. And people will always gossip and create theories about others, so what's the point?
Until now, he didn't think that his reputation could influence how people feel about him. Thinking about how scared she must have felt, when he sat down next to her. He feels sick. Is that why she hesitated when he asked if he could sit down? Is that why she was afraid to move? Is that why she ran away as soon as he looked away? And Oh Merlin, what did she think when he grabbed her hand like a creep?
Out of nowhere, someone pokes his shoulder, to which he only responds with a groan.
Another poke.
Another groan.
Another poke, and someone clears their throat.
"What the fuck is wrong with you Blaise-" he starts but he's cut off by Blaise nodding towards something behind him. He must have fallen asleep, because class is now over and everyone's rushing out. With annoyance plastered on his face, he turns around, seeing Y/N standing there, with wide eyes. He quickly relaxes his face, and tries to put on a gentle smile when he sees her hesitation.
"Is tomorrow afternoon good for you?" Maybe he's still asleep. Maybe he's in a lucid dream or something. Cause there's no way in hell, that Y/N is actually asking him this. Why is she asking him this? His confused blinking brings a cute, kind smile to her face, realizing that Theo didn't hear a single word Professor McGonagall had said in class. "We have to do a project. We are paired together." She explains.
Oh.
"Yeah, sure," he answers like he's unbothered, even though he's on the verge of exploding.
"Okay. Meet me in the library at 4," He can only nod. He should say something. Anything. And he wants to, oh Merlin he wants to say so many things to her. But he swallows his words, unsure of what would be the right thing to say. Blushing under his intense stare, Y/N also nods, and with a small wave, she leaves the boys.
"Man, you have such a way with words," Blaise whispers next to him, earning a smack on the back of his head before he gets up to leave for lunch. Blaise would tease him some more, if this were another situation, but Theo's eyes sparkle with excitement, and he has a small crooked smile on his lips for the rest of the day, and even a fool could see, that Theodore Nott is falling.
