To prove my point I'm been winning at potionmaking with my friends @theeyesthatstarefromthebush and @lycoris707 and I've been a dick the whole time😂
I'd absolutely crash out if I was losing too.
On another note, imagine this game in twst, but it's used as like, flashcards for studying. Imagine the boardgame club inventing it together and Azul trying to sell it for a high price. But most people just think it's more homework and it's the two idiots of the boardgame club manically laughing playing it.
I find it so funny that I have so many twst OCs (that I am yet to post) but I cannot come up with my version for Yuu.
I understand that usually Yuu is just a self-insert.
But I already have a self-insert(sorta).
Other than the fact that given the choice why would I stay a magicless regular human who probably really misses their family-
I'm way too confrontational and ambitious and etc to actually fill Yuu's shoes well 😂
I fit right in with the rest of the NRC assholes, I will not fix them, I will make them so much worse.

Narrator bias is extremely tasty yeah 🤤
I don't have more to add to your wonderful ideas as I just agree with them, I just wanna mention that I kinda have a whole OC related to the royal family with lore around this theory of mine 😂
And I remembered a comment I didn't voice on your idea about anglerfish mermaids and the like. I think for every merperson terrified/disgusted of a certain kind of fishier merpeople because of their full-fish counterpart, there will be a human out there who's really really into it. At least, judging from the real-world internet...
Like there is at the very least absolutely no way someone out there hasn't been horridly indecent towards Azul bc they find the idea of his tentacles attractive and he would super not get it bc he's so insecure.
I'm too busy in my personal life to finish my twst OC drawings OR to finish the lore of twst itself so y'all are just gonna need to listen to my mad-man ramblings that might even have a canon explanation.
So, I'm thinking that.
Is there possibly mermaid racism in twst?
There seems to be a very huge divide between how mermaids in twst look like, with some having more "human" characters in their upper body and some being more "animalistic" over all.
Example: random museum guards vs Floyd or Jade (or even Azul, but he's an octopus so he'd be different either way)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other than the very drastic contrast in appearance, Floyd and Jade are based on characters that in the original were not even merpeople but talking fish instead.
So, that kinda begs the question, is there two kinds of merpeople? The "original" magical kind, and those who descended from fish the same way beastmen descended from animals?
And if yes, how did that impact their society? I feel like, in the real world and the way we tend to "other" anything different and justify exploitation in any way possible, it'd result in some kinda racism. So that brings me back to my initial question. Yeamh.

To some extent, I also wonder just how much the whole "descended from animals" thing is even valid for beastfolk in the first place to draw parallels like that. I mean, like, it SOUNDS like some racist bullshit don't it? Maybe that's not true, maybe they just happen to be a different kind of species. And maybe it's the same for fishier merpeople, maybe the whole "descended from fish" is bullshit and they're just a different kind of merpeople. Or maybe it is true but it's greatly exaggerated by their media.
I agree with everything you say and I definitely think there'd be some pushback stereotypes for humanlike merpeople, but the real question is, would they have the same implications?
I feel like fishier merfolk are more likely to the the oppressed ones at least historically. At the end of the day Atlantica/Coral Sea is one country, and said country is run by the royal family, who is 100% the more humanlike merpeople. Monarchies also tend to have their friends and family in court, not elected officials, if there's a social divide you could also almost most certainly guarantee the whole court is humanlike merpeople. And if they run the country, they'll set the regulations and policies and so on accordingly. They're the ones in relative control of the media too. What IF, the talking fish in "my little mermaid" of their world were never even fish - what if they're caricatures of more fishlike merpeople?
Twst is also full of "narrator bias", and Azul, Floyd and Jade all describe the Coral Sea as a relatively hostile environment with some level of food scarcity. But what if that was just their personal experience, what if that's not true for everyone? The royal family sure seems well off.
With that in mind, does it really MATTER that some fishlike merpeople consider humanlike merpeople "behind the times"? Wouldn't they be justified to hate the monarchy? Sure it's not good to go "boo, landdweller", but is that nearly as bad as the discrimination they possibly face; 🤔
I'm too busy in my personal life to finish my twst OC drawings OR to finish the lore of twst itself so y'all are just gonna need to listen to my mad-man ramblings that might even have a canon explanation.

This actually also makes me think about how gender would play a role into the whole thing.
Based on My Little Mermaid, which is supposedly at least somewhat canon to twst, the royal family adheres to patriarchy. By extension, it'd be easy to assume that the whole society is somewhat patriarchal, and for more "human" merpeople that'd even make sense how it happened, as women would look visually different from men at the very least in the chest area. We could also assume that internally their sex-based characteristics divide would be closer to humans, where sure, intersex people are as common as gingers, but are overall still a minority.
But how'd that impact the "fishier" merpeople? Most actual fish don't have nearly the same kind of sex-based divide. Some might have more differences in their colouration and size and etc as their traits of sexual dimorphism, but some don't even have that, and it's common for fish to either change sex throughout their lives or be both at the same time, and many other things.
For example, when I looked into green moray eels specifically, they're intersex until they reach full maturity.
Tumblr media
So, is it more likely for the "fishier" merpeople to have larger diversity in sexual characteristics and as a result, gender expression? Would that further the amount of discrimination that they face? Would the ideas of gender-diversity and queerness be more directly tied to the "fish" kind of merpeople in people's minds, and would their society as a result, villainize both? Would said queerness be condemned within some communities of "fish" merpeople because of a fear that it makes them look bad or adhere to stereotypes?
Did I make this too philosophical lmao? I don't care

I mean, if they have titties or not depends on if they're full-fish or a hybrid of an aquatic mammal and a fish, me thinks. My personal headcanon is that all merpeople are mammals to an extent since like irl aquatic mammals are the ones most likely to build a civilisation if they were given opposable thumbs.

Say hi to my Captain Hook and Mr.Smee twst OCs :D
They are part of my NRC Uni AU, and are the Housewarden and Vise-Housewarden of their dormitory based on Captain Hook! They do not currently have names and I am open to suggestions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have much on these characters since I wanted to screw around with the designs more than anything else, but as a fun fact, Ms.Smee has made a friendship bracelet for almost everyone in their dormitory. I will probably reveal more of their personal motivations in the post where I talk about their dormitory, or I'll go back and edit this post when I'm more coherent. Here's a sum up of their relationship though:
Besides that, their relationship can be described as Captain bragging about her "heroic achievements" to their friends, spotting a bug nearby, and jumping on Ms.Smee yelling "Kill it Smee! Kill with fire!" in between excessively girly screams.
If there were to be an overblot arc with these characters, it's definitely going to be Ms.Smee overblotting bc she's overworking herself for Captain's sake and feeling majorly unappreciated for all her efforts. Captain herself does really value Ms.Smee and loves her but is often too self-absorbed and emotionally repressed to express it in any normal way.
Also, bonus:
Tumblr media
Eepy Captain.
In the summer she sleeps in light-pink shorts with a darker-pink heart pattern. I cannot post it here since she sleeps shirtless :P

Ever since I got into TWST, I've been wondering why NRC is called college if it's a high school and where are all the women studying magic if both of the most prestigious magic academies are all-boys-schools
While I have realised it's a vocational school and perhaps the plot answers my question about women at some point in the story that I didn't yet read, it still made me think what if NRC was an actual college(uni) instead, one that is co-ed but has segregated male-and-female dorms.
So, I'll be working on some redesigns and some lore for the ✨️NRC Is An Actual College AU✨️ (where I'm probably also gonna expand the cast a lot with OCs and expand on my headcanons about the existing characters). Stay tuned if you're curious✨️
I'm mostly making this post rn so I can later link it for explanations to my art and I will later go back and edit it to add links to the posts with the designs and lore:)

You will never be her
SYNOPSIS : You've been in love with your coworker forever, you sadly discover he's in love with someone else. Except, she's shattered his heart to pieces.
PAIRING : Zayne x Non-MC!Gender-Neutral Reader
TAGS : Hurt/comfort, Oneshot/Drabble, kinda-sorta-slice-of-life
❄️🍧☃️🍧❄️❄️🍧☃️🍧❄️🍧☃️🍧❄️🍧☃️🍧❄️
The first time you saw how he looks at her, it stung. I mean, it hurts, watching the man you've been pining for for the last few years be so desperately in love with someone who isn't you.
Yet somehow, what hurts even more, is that you can see from a mile away that she doesn't look at him the same way. How could she not?
Your coworker, Zayne, is perhaps the kindest, most thoughtful and caring person on Earth. He speaks in a cold and professional demeanor most of the time, and does not seem to emotionally attach to the patients, but his actions speak so much louder than his words. He stays late just to make sure things go smoothly, he checks up on patients in his free time, he stops stops by to help out people he doesn't know when he can. On the rare occasions he brings snacks for everyone, he remembers exactly what everyone is allergic to and what their favourite is.
It really is outrageous that the woman he lights up when seeing and keeps a picture of on his desk doesn't like him back. You almost think to yourself that how dare she hurt him like that. But I guess when you just don't feel the chemistry, you just don't feel the chemistry. Life is cruel sometimes...
Your heart feels like it's being squeezed and compressed into a black hole every time you look at him talk to her. One time it was so bad you almost scheduled an appointment with him to see if there's an underlying physical issue. But, no, sadly your heartbreak is emotional and has quite the obvious source... You doubt you had a chance before, you know. Zayne tends to keep his personal life out of the hospital and the hospital out of his personal life, he'd probably never go out with a coworker. And fat chance you were his taste. But seeing him so... enamoured with her. Right in front of your salad. Well, it really crushed your ribs from the inside. She didn't show up often, only some evenings to meet him after work and head off together, or occasionally as a hunter assigned to clean up when there was an incident at your hospital. But you still couldn't bear seeing them.
You sat with the feeling many evenings after work, suppressing it in the moment and putting away for crying into your pillow late at night. It sucked. It really sucked. Many sleepless nights of chest pain and close calls of being late to work because your meltdowns made you oversleep. But thanks to you processing your feelings and not ignoring them, over time, it got easier. At least, the pain didn't feel so suffocating and you made peace with the fact that you'll never have him. You felt... mildly content just seeing him happy.
Except, that didn't last. The more time passed, the more apparent it became that the woman he loved only saw him as a friend and would never "warm up and like him back" the way you thought. You don't know if he noticed that too, or if she outright rejected him, but you watched him slowly wilt. It was subtle, many people wouldn't even notice, but it was the little things. He'd eat his lunch just a little too long staring off into space, end conversations just a little too soon, stay so late at work that it wasn't just to check up on the patients anymore but quite clearly to distract himself. One day, she showed up with a man and cheerfully introduced him as her boyfriend, and said he'd be tagging along to their outing and that she hoped they'd all get along. The next week, her picture was gone from his desk. And the whole following month Zayne stayed late at work on every day and had bigger eyebags on him than you've ever seen.
This had to stop. You can't... You can't watch him destroy himself anymore. It was one thing to have your heart broken, but seeing him fall apart into pieces was so much worse.
You gathered up whatever courage you had, and invited him for coffee and pastries right after your shift ends on the day your schedule alligned. Made an excuse as to why it cannot be any later, apparently the cafe won't serve any cake after a certain hour because the owner believes sugar before bed will kill you. No, it can't be another cafe, it has to be that one, it has that special edition dessert you wanted to try forever but had no one to go with. Your treat, of course.
Somehow, he agreed. He wasn't very talkative, but you still had a good time. Doctor Zayne when he isn't a Doctor is a sight to behold... You had fun seeing all his reactions. His scrunched-up nose when he tried his drink before adding 5 spoons of sugar, his satisfied expression when finishing his 3rd slice of cake. You feel a little bad, enjoying this so much while inviting him to make sure that *he* feels better. But hey, he seems happier and he didn't overwork himself again, so maybe you deserve to enjoy this a little bit. At the end of the evening, you nod and go your separate ways.
You do this again the first time you have an opportunity, make some other outrageous excuse why it has to be right after work. And then again. And again. And every time, by some miracle, Zayne says yes. You talk more and more each time. By the third time, Zayne asks you if you'd like him to accompany you to your house. It is late, after all. In twice the time, you don't even have to ask, and he's ready to head off with you when your work is done. It becomes routine, you finish work, you go get some sweets and coffee, Zayne walks you home.
It feels like a privilege peering into his private life, to hear him talk of things other than patients and surgeries and scheduling. You learn of his terrible sweet tooth, his favourite foods, his interests out of work. You learn of his sarcastic and playful-jabs kind of sense of humour, his smile engraved to your memory. His outward cold demeanor seems like almost a facade with how warm being around him makes you feel.
You're so happy to see him better and to know these new sides to him that you don't even notice when he starts to linger around you, when it looks like he doesn't quite want to leave after walking you home, how he stands just a little closer when you walk next to each other. You're just glad to give him some company that you can tell he needed.
One fateful evening he does something you've never thought possible. He kisses you. Your mind melts while you try to process what's happening, but you instinctively kiss him back before you can even tell. You've wanted this for so long. You're not sure what you expected him to feel like, but his lips are soft and a little chilly before they warm up to yours. When the kiss turns open-mouthed, he feels much more like warm cocoa, even tastes a little like it, sugary flavour lingering after you two had your desserts earlier in the evening.
You pull away and try to hold yourself together. Emotions circle through your head, and you only manage to force out the dumbest thing you could possibly say right now.
"You know I'll never be her, right?"
You're afraid you ruined this for yourself when his face falls and he stares to the side into blank space. But he looks back at you and smiles.
"I know."
He looks a little melancholic, but he kisses you again and your worries melt away with the rest of your thoughts.
——————————————————————————
Sometimes, he still looks at her like he did before, but with an additional layer of sadness and melancholy to his expression. It doesn't hurt though. Because he looks at you with the same warmth and shine, and at least, you make him smile as well.

This might be a weird take, but I feel like people's recent hate of Ford and ignorance of Bills crimes in the GF fandom says less about the fandom and more about how well Ford and Bill are written.
It's a well-known fact that most people online can't comprehend complex characters. It's going to happen, like, everywhere. But why is there not as many people blaming or hating the complex character who actually is a villain of the story? The one objectively more in the wrong?(Y'know, Bill)
Because Ford feels real. Bill doesn't.
Bill is a supernatural entity that nobody expects to ever meet in real life, it's easy to disconnect from his flaws because he's a walking talking triangle. And most importantly, despite being openly evil, he's charismatic in terms of personality and stupidly entertaining to watch.
Not to mention that before the book of Bill, everyone was already blatantly aware of Bill being evil, what they discovered upon reading the book is the opposite - things that would make you sympathetic towards him, his hurt and inner thoughts, something people could relate to. So, of course people would focus on those more. And exadurate it. And frankly, it's exactly what Bill wants. He's manipulated everyone into liking him by showing this, because now he wants something from you, the reader. You're no longer the passive audience, Bill has reached to you directly and is trying to make a deal. He's performing for you specifically. "See, I ain't so bad:)". Obviously he kinda fails in his usual ways due to his misunderstanding of humans and emotional instability making him vulnerable. But ultimately, he still got what he wanted from some people...
Then what about Ford? Well, frankly I think the book of Bill pushed him more "in the front" and people have started to actually analyse his character rather than overlooking it on the surface level.
And discovered that, oh wow, Ford has flaws.
He's always had them, but they're hidden in his behaviour and the framing of the show that's seen through the eyes of Dipper and Mabel just doesn't paint him in negative light. And seeing as there isn't even that much of interactions between Mabel and Ford, it's more so through Dippers eyes, who deeply admires Ford. You need to dig to see the flaws and well people haven't collectively done so until now, focusing more on the characters with more screentime.
And now that they have it's like. "Oh wow, this guy is kinda... morally gray". And more importantly, they notices that he's self-centered(not selfish, self-centered, big difference!). Ford is stuck in his own head, he's distrustful and paranoid, he has unhealthy coping mechanisms. And it shows. He's not a blatantly terrible person, but he's made terrible choices and decisions and he's hurt people. And some of it is because he was manipulated and abused by Bill, but some is just because of his core flaw. The self-centeredness. It feels like Ford doesn't see past his nose, he deeply believes that everything revolves around him and the only truth is his truth. He needs to feel important, to matter. Desperately. It doesn't just mean that he sees himself as the hero, the saviour and the genius. It also means that in the low moments he sees himself as so much lesser than and that he's absolutely convinced everyone does. That he's convinced all his paranoia is at all times justified. He fundamentally cannot put himself in other people's shoes. And yes that hurts others, and it also hurts him because he jumps to the worst conclusions (such as about Stanley and his intentions) and he becomes convinced he has to be right.
Ford is also, and I'm sorry for saying this, questionably likeable. He's socially awkward and nerdy and many people like that, but it's just objectively not as charismatic. His attempts at being cool, are, well... dorky. And it's endearing in a way, but it's not raw charisma. It doesn't captivate and capture as many people as Bill's fun personality, it doesn't distract from who Ford is. And that's on purpose, because Ford's personality is real. And Bill is performing constantly as part of the act to conceal for bad he is.
If you've had the misfortune of meeting a master manipulator like Bill, oh boy am I sorry for you. But I bet for a very long time you were convinced that person is cool before you escaped them, the experience was almost surreal, right? You can swear they were so fun to hang out with, you didn't even notice when it's gotten so bad. Or maybe, you never even got close to them and on the surface they were just so fun and then you find out how horrible they are through the grape vine, and you ask yourself "wow, really, that guy?".
And truly, most people won't even meet a person like that.
But Ford? You've met a Ford.
In a way, at least.
You've definitely met someone who's so in their head they aren't always pleasant. And that guy doesn't care about appearances - he's not lying to you. Just doesn't see things in a different way. And they're open about it, they will tell you that they're right.
And I bet that, if you got close to a person like that, they unintentionally hurt you. They're not... all that, no. But they're dismissive. They don't understand. They hold grudges because they just can't believe your perspective, not even because they do not want to. They will fluctuate between never taking accountability and defending their actions to death and apologizing and agonising so much that you have to comfort them about their own mistakes because suddenly they're the worst person in the world and everything is their fault. And you know, it hurts. It hurts because you love them, because there's so many genuinely good things about them. But it's so mentally exhausting to keep up with their emotional issues that you slowly start resenting them anyway.
And if you have never gotten close to someone like that, perhaps if you didn't find a part of them charming immediately, you've still met them - you just found them mildly annoying. It's the "Um, actually" guy. The "correct your grammar and pronounciation" guy. Even if they're right it's just so. "God, they're a stuck-up asshole." Even if that's objectively not true because they volunteer to rescue kittens every weekend and have invented the cure for cancer.
And it's so much easier to dislike the real problem. You've never met a dimension destroying monster, nor someone who could control your body in a literal way, nor, you know, a "demon". (At least I fucking hope so?). You've met someone who didn't mean to hurt you but couldn't help it. You've met an annoying kinda stuck-up smart guy. And now you see that guy in Ford and you cannot unsee it and you're projecting your feelings.

How my Stanley/Reader(2nd person OC POV) fic is going I'm so far from where I wanna put the smut and it's missing descriptions between dialogue in places. This will be... so much.
Uh.. Follow me if you wanna read it when it's done ig. because honestly no clue who I'm writing this for I have no friends in the fandom ahaha. I might wanna make it into a "dating" sim if my creative battery doesn't die on me when I'm done with the fic.

If the post where you complain that you should draw Sam Walls properly sometime gets noticed by Little Bat Games, you goddamn draw Sam Walls properly. So, here's my depicton of everyone's favourite Vampire Comboy♡ I don't know why he's in a field, but I just wanted to draw him happy goofing off with someone, stumbling back and catching his hat to keep it on his head. People and characters get so much brighter when you imagine you're in love with them, and perhaps just a little bit of it is the real deal for me with Sam. I adore this game with my whole heart, and fun fact, it released on my birthday this year and it was the best birthday gift the universe could have given me.
I also cannot get a silly Vampire Therapist and Gravity Falls crossover idea out of my head now, but I'm still working on it and it deserves another post anyway.
