Note
I think you mentioned awhile back that you left the Dramione fandom. Was there anything in specific that caused you to leave? Would you ever write another fic in the future? LAOHA is my all time fav. I'm really excited for your original fiction, but still mourn the loss of you in the Dramione space xx
I have a lot of reasons for leaving HP, but the tl;dr is that I have trans loved ones who feel existential distress around HP content, and their distress is distressing to me. I may elaborate on that in the future, but the discourse is rancid, so I won't if I don't have to beyond: my time in fandom was queer-led, queer-inclusive, queer-supportive, transformative and transgressive, and I have no regrets about my participation. It's also time for me to move on. I have other, much pettier reasons, too. I was tired of entitlement and direct insults in my inbox. My friends all moved on to other fandoms and/or original work, and they were the engine of my fandom joy. I found the rate-and-rank culture of DHr dehumanizing. I wasn't interested in my work being openly compared to others. I've had Booktok influencers with massive platforms despise my work and write angry GR reviews about it. The love in my inbox FAR outweighed all that, but the pressure to do DHr "right" was (and I assume still is) enormous. I don't feel like I ever got DHr right. But I'm so deeply grateful LAOHA and my short DHr works found their people. I'm glad they're on AO3 and in people's bookmarks and downloads. I have no intention of removing anything. I hope everyone keeps taking creative properties that have Problems™ and doing new, interesting and horrible things with them forever. XO

Broom Go Vroom (Ch21, 22): The Needles Headland, England
In Chapter 21, everyone's favorite reporter, Rita Skeeter, dishes on the drama in Ireland and previews Nimbus' home race in England.
Can Hermione craft a working strategy?
Can Draco make his broom (😏) go vroom?
Find out as we go racing in Chapter 22!
Thanks to @mistresslynndramione for the title art!!
Snippet below the cut!
Draco could win this weekend. But far from the certainty she’d felt ahead of Clearwater or Monaco, a creeping sense of dread overcame her. She didn’t doubt the team’s ability to perform.
For perhaps the first time all season, she doubted her own.
Logically, there was no reason for it. She’d consistently demonstrated her ability to execute brilliant strategies. This weekend shouldn’t have felt any different.
But it did.
The Needles Headland was Nimbus’ home race. A win here meant more than at any other track on the calendar. The stands were filled with white, red, and gold, and whenever Draco and Ron took to the air, the fans’ cheers overwhelmed the steady static of falling rain and the random roars of gusting wind. A top-step victory on Draco’s first home outing wouldn’t just be a memory that lasted a lifetime. It would be a statement, an irrefutable rejection of anyone who had ever doubted him. Or her.
And it all came down to her judgment.
Hermione pressed a hand to her chest, willing her heartbeat to slow. But the cure for this brand of anxiety wasn’t deep breathing or visualisation. It was throwing herself into her work until she’d accounted for every possible scenario. She refused to fail him tomorrow.
Refused.

forgive me lord for i have sinned. i am so hungry for your writing that I asked AI to give me a Dransy fic as if you wrote it and as we millennials say, it was an epic fail. god bless the original fruit you have born for us. and fuck AI
LOL I fully understand the impulse, and please don't feel guilty. Humans are tool-users and this is the most fascinating sharp stick we've ever invented. But I've seen such intense witch hunts for authors using AI, and I'm always amazed that anyone even bothers. From what I've seen, generative AI just . . . isn't very good at creative writing. I'm currently revising my book, combing over sentences that are doing work on multiple levels, shifting tones across not just a scene but within single phrases, layering voice-specific interiority with unexpected metaphor—it's all stuff AI can't do (yet, ugh). But even if it could? The thing about human brains is that they're connected to human bodies and endocrine systems. We feel things. We crave. Grieve. Fear. Envy. And we gather experience, putting down layer upon layer of lived moments that mingle and react. They compound, erode, shift and shape our perceptions of current experience, reframe the past and color our plans, hopes and anxieties for the future. We are living biofilters of experience, the universe embodying itself to live within and witness itself, utterly unique and unrepeatable. So when we create, we walk through this vast, wild garden of selfhood that's constantly growing, dying, being sown and pruned and excavated and flooded. We pluck the incomparable fruits we find there, and which could only ever grow in that particular patch of earth, under those exact circumstances. An unexpected metaphor, a carefully garlanded subtextual thread, a written gesture of such devastating particularity you understand the writer lived it. Creation is communication. Writing, actual human writing, is one human mind transcribing the dimensions of its peculiar blooms and hoping another mind will recognize its own similar specimens.
AI will get better and better at pattern recognition and mimicry, but it can't create. It can't communicate. It can't connect. There's no mind. It's just a tool. An increasingly sharp one, but still: a tool. And I much prefer to be an astonished gardener. <3

Broom Go Vroom, Ch19+20: Runnaroddan Ring, Ireland
Rita has spilled the tea from Monaco, and now it's time for the next race itself: Runnaroddan Ring in Ireland!
Broom Go Vroom, Chapter 19 and Chapter 20
Thanks to @mistresslynndramione for the title art. Chapter 20 snippet under the cut!
She hung back, somewhat behind Draco’s shoulder as he started the rounds with Big Besoms, a fan-run publication that was historically Nimbus-friendly. The host, Bojan Jurca, had pitched his umbrella near the waist-high metal barricade. It was crowded with fans eager to see their favourite Flyers, clutching thick-nibbed, self-inking quills and their most beloved piece of team merchandise in hopes of an autograph and a photo.
Usually, the crowds were friendly, borderline docile. They knew that the Flyers and journalists were there out of obligation, and that their chance of a positive interaction was higher if they let the interviews proceed without delay.
The Irish crowd felt different.
Singsong chants of fans well into their cups created a noisy backdrop, forcing Flyers to lean in close to hear the journalists’ questions. The crowd seethed with motion as people pressed against the fencing, standing sideways and shouting for attention. It reminded Draco of a game of Exploding Snap that had lasted a turn too long. Everyone knew that the next card turned would combust the entire deck and singe the eyebrows of the unlucky sod who pulled it.
But it helped nothing to show fear.

A Woman of Independent Means
by PacificRimbaud
Summary:
In London, 1851, Draco Malfoy, Earl of Wiltshire, has been tasked with gifting the British Museum with a bequest from his grandfather's estate. Simple enough, but for the mysterious contents of the gift, and the museum staff assigned to receive it.
A terrific, perhaps underrated, gem of the @pacific-rimbaud oeuvre. Concise and hilarious. Listen/read while you draw yourself a bath.
