my guide as someone whos been lifting for 6+ years and never been caught 😇🤞
apperance: i usually wear hoodies and or leggings under sweats or just leggings and a hoodie. i try to not look too much of a bum so i do minimal “clean girl” makeup and grab one of my tote bags
methods:
up the sleeve: this one is my go too, first i usually shove it up the sleeve and then either put it in my waistband or just keep it tucked in my sleeve,i stole a whole mini christmas tree one time just by shoving it up my oversized jacket sleeve obviously be careful tho
in the waistband: if wearing leggings under sweats you can store things in your leggings
fluffy boots: those big y2k fluffy boots are perfect for shoving things in.
bras: if your medium- big chested yk the bra is a way to
hats:put things in your beanie and put it back on
cups: use a empty stanley/hydro flak / any tumblr and put things in
socks: long socks under jeans are good for small things like lipgloss chapstick etc
**obviously be sure the store you are borrowing from isnt a small business and has multiple areas to easy conceal items**
i make sure not to hit the same small stores too often as in dollar general/dollar tree etc, id only recommend once or twice a week if that
**PSA this post is for entertainment purposes only i do not take any responsibility for any actions partook by this post xx**

long shoplifting sdvice post. feel free to add to it.
this is for roleplay, and is not genuine advice from a genuine shoplifter.
updated 4/17/25
shoplifting advice, from someone who has never ever lifted 500+ dollars worth of stuff, from:
w@lm@rt (never going there again. got caught recently. they dont play and donated to trump)

and probably more that I can't remember
anywho, ground rules:
chain? free reign
small shop? full stop.
if shoplifting will put someone you are with in danger that they did not agree to, don't do it. especially if you are with a minority.
ok, baseline advice:
alarm goes off? keep. walking. act nonchalant. I've had alarms go off on me - I just kept walking. nobody said anything to me.
be confident, but not cocky. I have walked out of shops with full carts and nobody said a thing. more on this later.
don't be rude or overly chatty. if you are rude, anyone who sees you is way more l likely to tell someone. being overly chatty can make you seem suspicious. be careful asking for the location of things - depending on how large the store is, they may watch you til the register. I've seen some advice saying to ask for an object, have them walk you to it, and pretend to be displeased with it and walk out.
don't dress sexy or alluring. do not draw attention or leave any of your tattoos visible. if you have on a really short skirt, don't lift. weirdos may be looking at your ass and noticing you lift.
tips and advice in no general order:
if you don't have a cart, bring a reusable shopping bag, and just stick shit in there. you don't have to be as sneaky about this, because if anyone notices you can just say you didn't have the hands for all your items, and you were going to pay for it all when you arrived at checkout. I've never been caught stashing anything, but the less suspicious you look the less suspiciously they're likely to treat you. (occasionally i just carry things until i can't hold them all, pretend to be frustrated, stick your shit in the bag to help you carry it.)
employee entrances and exits into the back rarely have cameras, making them great places to stash if you can avoid the employees. I especially like the toilet paper and paper towel roll isles, so i can sit down and take a break, as well as stash some stuff. never stash near a tech area. i did so recently and got caught. go to the kids isle or another area without cameras.
if they try to stop you from going into the bathroom even though you just saw someone else go in, you've been caught. ditch your shit or pay for it and leave. quickly.
if you plan to just walk out with a large basket, it's best to do it somewhere large, with more than one customer exit. if you are leaving the store with just your bag, this matters less. again, confidence is key.
if you do get caught, say you were overwhelmed and have an anxiety disorder, and simply 'forgot'. apologize profusely, and offer to pay for the items. however, if they take you into the back shut the fuck up. do not say anything, give them anything you took, and ask if you are free to leave. I've never tried this but put your personal items in one bag and your shopping items in a reusable bag. if someone questions you or tries to stop you, drop the lifted items and keep walkin.
sometimes if i genuinely get overwhelmed and think I have everything I need, i just walk out quickly - someone stops you? you are overwhelmed and overstimulated, even better if you have headphones that are on. It is really unlikely anyone will touch you, and if they do, flinch. Better if you tear up. I'm autistic so this reaction would likely be legit from me. ymmv.
I recommend masking for the safety of yourself and others, but it also makes you harder to identify. If you don't mask, vary wether you do or don't. normally, people who mask do it all the time, so going between wearing a mask and not wearing a mask may also cause confusion.
If an employee speaks to you, be kind. If they hand you a basket, hold it the same way you do your stash-bag, and put things you don't want in your basket, and things you do want in your bag. leave the basket near the exit, and walk out.
If you fear you have been caught or noticed, stop stashing, buy something small, and leave.
Try not to frequent the same places, and try not to steal every time. (I've broken this rule and been fine, but the point stands.)
christmas time is one of the best times to go shoplifting - it is busy, and staff probably won't look at you too closely if you leave without purchasing something
if you have a bag from a store in a mall that is also in another mall (barnes and noble is in a lot of malls, for example), bring that shopping bag with something small in it, and carry that around to make it seem like you've already spent money. put items in that bag, stores are unlikely to search a bag from another store.
most staff don't get paid enough to care all that much what you do. don't be a nuisance and don't bother them and they probably won't gaf.
if you are carrying a phone or waterbottle, put your items in the hand holding the object, then put them both in the bag at the same time.
its ok to shoplift from goodwill. they suck balls. they also cant do anything about it :)
THIS IS JUST FOR ROLEPLAY. SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME AND SHOULD NOT BE DONE BY ANYONE, AT ALL, EVER!! THIS IS FOR WRITING REFERENCE AND ROLEPLAY!! DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE TO HEART!!

borrowing tips 101 💋
6 life saving borrowing tips so that you are guaranteed to get what you want everytime without getting caught! 🫧

1. ALWAYS go with someone - if you go on your own you automatically draw more attention to yourself and having another person there can be more comforting+you can help eachother (remember only do this if you know for sure the person if comfortable with it NEVER borrow when your with someone without consent because they could get into trouble along with you)
2. Stay calm - speaking from experience, if you are constantly looking at security guards and acting suspicious you WILL get caught. It’s all about mindset walk out as you usually would but don’t be too obvious.
3. For beginners - if you are a beginner start off stealing small things for example, candy, cheap lipglosses, charms etc. Trust me it will build more skill and if you get caught the worst they would do is kick you out.
4. Go when it’s busy but not too busy! - when it’s busy there are barely any workers and so many people it’s hard for them to keep up. If somebody who isn’t a worker sees you it’s an 80% chance they won’t snitch, most likely if they are 10-20 ish years old they won’t but older people tend to snitch more often so be careful!
5. Check tags - if the store you are going into has no sensors most likely the security tags won’t matter at all with barcodes you can leave almost any store because they don’t go off but with some items they hide the tag inside of the box so be careful and check before lifting!
6. The most important step, don’t overthink it - when lifting just see what you like and take it, if you like you can check over everything after but do not linger or you will get caught! If you decide you don’t want something anymore still leave with it taking and putting it back is very risky and could get you into trouble just have an “I see it, I like it, I want it , I got it “ mindset.
rules for borrowers
• never borrow from small businesses large chains only!
•do not peer pressure anyone into borrowing
•keep it moderate don’t steal every time you shop
• and the most important of all have fun! xoxo 💋
extras
what to wear:
jeans with leggings underneath (so things won’t fall out or shove small things in your waistband
bring a bag (not a huge tote bag it’s obvious more like a tote bag or if your in a mall/ shopping area bring a bag from another store (buy something small) to make it look like your just going on a spree
(for female lifters) I recommend push up bras with a crop/low neck top so that it’s easier to shove things in (and the store can’t legally search you if you get caught)
hoodies but it can be kinda obvious
stores to go to:
I recommend going to mini stores from a large chain because half of the time they have a scrawny security guard with 1 to 2 workers there and they won’t be able to stop you
uk stores:
boots
superdrug
primark especially
sephora (not as recommended)
urban outfitters
tkmaxx
brandy melville
(i live in london so if you’re in the uk and don’t have these stores sorry)
us stores:
sephora
ulta
brandy melville
tjmaxx
urban outfitters
hollister
