davidayermovies These are part of the extensive make-up an wardrobe testing proccess. It began with my make-up designer Alessandro Bertolazzi trying various products on stand-ins, Itâs like the rough draft of a script - How does the product interact with the skin, the lighting and camera lens?
Then we did various tests on Margot. It is days and days of work to dial in the look. Then it has to repeatable every day. Margot is a soldier, she endured endless trial and error. During the course of the tests you can feel her discovering the character.

Didnât expect these to actually happen, especially with Birds of Prey but damn DC, I would rather see the Joker and Harley movie than the Birds of Prey movie and I bet 90% of people would agree with me. I donât get it, Joker is one best villains of all time and one of DCâs biggest cash cows and they are throwing him away like heâs nothing.Â

'I don't trust Margot as a producer.' Her work as a producer earned her an Oscar nomination and several other wins/nominations. Also: how dare you suggest she doesn't want any competition from the other actresses. She is supportive of other females, and said she wants Harley surrounded by females because that's how she is in real life with her girlfriends and she doesn't see that in movies. If you're keep on moaning about Joker, then just don't want the film.
Hello,
You know the worst kinds of fans are the ones that cannot be critical of their faves. Margot is a human being, she can do wrong just because Iâm critical of her doesnât mean Iâm the devil.Â
Not to split hairs here, because an Oscar nomination is an Oscar nomination and good for her. But I, Tonya never got nominated for any of the major FILM awards. Yes, it got best actress, and best supporting with Alison Janney winning deservedly but it never got nominated for âBest Pictureâ or any of those awards ever. The performances were what got nominated and that should go to the director and the actor themselves. Iâm not taking away anything from I, Tonya but for a film about Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding⌠it just seems like a movie that the is a shoe in for the Oscars. Every year you just know that some films will be nominated for the Oscars. Like you know that a movie like Dunkirk is going to be nominated before a film like Mission Impossible. You know? Either way, youâre right good job Margot.Â
Look Iâve always had a little bit of an issue with Margot because I do feel like sheâs little miss princess all the time. Sheâs clearly has never been told no ever in her life. So sheâs always rubbed me the wrong way a little bit, however I will admit that she is a damn great actress. Even though sheâs basically been typecast as âHarley Quinnâ but whatever she plays a *good* Harley Quinn but itâs not the Harley Quinn that I fell in love with. Yes, I understand that the characters have to grow and evolve and that as long as itâs the spirit of the character that they get right, then thatâs great. But I donât even really see the Harley I know in her Harley Quinn. I mean I see the shell of Harley, because sheâs crazy and a bad person but what else? Margot clearly doesnât understand the soul of Harleyâs character - which is Harleyâs love for the Joker. So who is this person sheâs playing?
Yes, Margot is supportive of women as long as she is in the one front and center. If Margot actually wanted competition she wouldâve gone the Gotham City Sirens route and casted Catwoman and Poison Ivy.Â
Honestly, why do you think she got that long ass title with Harleyâs name in it? And I donât know if you know much about Birds of Prey and admittedly I donât know that much but I do know that Harley Quinn is basically a non-factor in it. From what I understand itâs supposed to be about Batgirl, Huntress, and Black Canary. Poison Ivy has even been in it at times, but sheâs not in the movie. Curious. Margot/Harley clearly doesnât want competition because sheâs in the forefront of everything, her name is in the title, the other costumes look like they belong on a low budget tv show.
Again, yes, I understand that Harley is a larger than life character and has huge personality and is a scene-stealer to begin with but like Iâve also said, Harley is not really supposed to be in the Birds of Prey and she is basically stealing all of their thunder because sheâs âHarley Quinnâ.
âSaid she wants Harley surrounded by females because thatâs how she is in real life with her girlfriendsâ ok great you know I love getting more female roles but just because Margot WANTS Harley to be surrounded by women doesnât mean Harley SHOULD be surrounded by women. Diversity is amazing and Iâm all for it, but you also need a good story and a good reason to have them there. We wonât know if the story is good until the movie comes out.
Also, whether you like it or not Harley was created for the Joker. Her obsession with him is what literally turned her evil. Yes, EVIL. A murdering sociopath not the sugarplum broken princess that DC seems to be going with. Obviously the Joker and Harley have a horribly abusive relationship that no one should ever want to have but theyâre amazing together. They light up the screen when theyâre on and in the Suicide Squad version, Joker risked his life for her, was clearly in love, and wasnât abusive.
So why? I get it, female leads are all the rage right now. Female empowerment is awesome. But I have a feeling this movie is gonna open up with âAfter Harley broke up with the JokerâŚâ when really all weâve seen is that heâs (dare I say) loving to her so it makes no sense for her to leave him. If Joker had been abusive and awful to her then it would make more sense, but heâs not. In the pervious movie that that the DCEU already established, heâs not. So?
Also, I just personally think that Harley Quinn is and will always be 20x more interesting when sheâs with the Joker. And it doesnât matter if they are in a relationship or not, just to have him in the room is her kryptonite. Even if heâs the worst ever to her - abusive, hates her, etc. - the Harley I know still falters when she tries to kill him.Â
I donât know who this Harley Quinn that Margot created is but sheâs not my Harley Quinn. In my opinion, Margot doesnât understand who Harley actually is.Â
Thanks.
