Even though both Dean and Sam got hurt, Cas always heals Dean first, if not only Dean. That time in the crypt when he broke through Naomi's mind control after beating Dean bloody, he healed him up using his whole palm cupping Dean's face instead of 2 fingers. But it's back to 2 fingers now recently.... Why does it feel more intimate when Cas heals Dean than when he heals someone else? lol

Don’t you do things more intimately with the person you love than anyone else?

Like just getting them a beer:

So yeah, the healing thing is a part of this:

Especially relevant with how he does it in 12x23, not at all as he usually would, even though he’s just shouted his name and ignored everyone else in the room…. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH CAS?! I mean maybe he’s just super busy with the nephilim being born upstairs and lucifer on their trail but add this to all the other weird behaviour and it all adds up to something weird going on with him in this episode.

So do you think dean went into shock or something there at the end? Because he didn't shed a single tear over his best friend of nearly a decade dying right in front of him. He didn't touch him or say his name or anything besides drop down beside him. And idk it seems odd to me?? So the only thing I can think of is Dean just broke and went into shock/utter disbelief/dissociation. Anyway I was wondering your opinion on this scene :-)

Yeah I think this is exactly it. At first we get just Dean, of course. Screaming NO in DENIAL.

Then we get them both, Dean is still in shock but Sam has already processed it.

Then look at the difference between Sam and Dean when they look at Lucifer. Sam is AFRAID. 

Dean is STILL in SHOCK.

Then of course we have the ultimate difference, Sam has processed Cas’s death, looks at Dean then goes inside to deal with the Nephilim.

DEAN IS UNABLE TO MOVE FROM THE SPOT, HE STARTS TO PROCESS IT AND COLLAPSES.

I can’t wait to see the opening scene of 13x01…

When Cas comes back, Dean falls head over heels in love with one specific part of his body that he’s never really worshipped before.

It used to be Cas’ hands, his sides, his thighs even, his ears and his soft lips and perhaps the curve of his jaw, the wrinkles around his eyes. It’s different now.

Dean, obviously, falls in love with the spot right over Cas’ heart.

He kisses it, lips against smooth skin. Drags his mouth against it. Places his hand over it - in bed and out of it, obsessed with it even through fabric. He wouldn’t admit it but he falls asleep with his cheek pressed against Cas’ chest nearly every night. In fact, it’s the only way he can sleep the first few weeks after Cas comes back.

Because there is Cas’ heart. Beating. Alive.

You know that cliche Sylvia Plath poem about listening to your own heart and it beating in the old familiar rhythm of I am, I am, I am.

Dean doesn’t care about his heart. He cares about Cas’. He listens.

And all he can think is, You are, you are, you are. Alive, and mine, and don’t leave again.
