"If you feel safe in the area that you're working in, you're not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you're capable of being. Go a little bit out of your depth and when you don't feel your feet are quite touching the bottom, you're just about in the right place to do something exciting."

if you ever feel silly about painting the same stuff over and over again pls remember that Monet spent all of the money he's made (by the time he was in his 40s he's made enough money to retire) to build a garden exactly to his liking and then proceeded to paint it over and over again until he died at 86

daily reminder that there are real people behind usernames, you have no idea how much grief and trauma someone might be carrying and whether your choice to be cruel to them just because you feel like it might be the thing that pushes them over the edge. be kind to people. "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" is more than just a phrase you (hopefully) get taught as a child.

Because I'm stupid and I fall for this behaviour every time, I'm making a little list of potential red flags you may encounter when interacting with people online. None of these may be red flags on their own, but when combined and when there's a clear pattern of repeated behaviour, you should consider distancing yourself:
1. Overfamiliarity from the start. They initiate contact and act like you’re old friends.
2. Excessive praise combined with self-deprecation. They compliment you while putting themselves down. It can become uncomfortable because they make you feel like you're responsible for the way they feel.
3. They may assert subtle control early on, masking it behind excessive vulnerability or self-deprecation, while also making sure you know how well-connected, talented, or admired they are.
4. They assign you roles you didn’t ask for. You’re “the intimidating one,” “the territorial one,” “the competitor” . Even if you’ve barely interacted. They make you feel like your existence somehow threatens them.
5. They bond by gossiping about others. If they confidently dehumanise others to you, they’ll do the same to you behind your back. They’ll bring up people’s trauma as if it’s their personal achievement, and they make sure you know how closely they are watching everyone. This is your sign to run immediately.
6. They push boundaries. You say you’re uncomfortable, they don't care. They are invasive and have no regard for personal space.
7. They make everything about themselves. Everything you say or do is somehow about them. If it is about them, it’s only because they recognized themselves in something you said.
8. Once you start distancing yourself, the passive aggression intensifies, jabs masked as jokes, subtle guilt-trips. They want you to feel like you're the one who’s done something wrong.
9. The smear campaign begins, if it hasn't already. The second you block or disengage, they start spinning their version. They’ll rewrite the narrative and cast themselves as your victim.
10. They don’t stay gone. Being blocked doesn’t stop them. They’ll show up again elsewhere.
These people are not harmless. I'm just talking from the point of view of a personal interaction, this doesn't include how these people may or may not act publicly, which may or may not be relevant to your particular "relationship" (it often is). I often fall for this stuff because I give people the benefit of the doubt, even when something feels off.
I hope this helps someone and please know: you’re allowed to protect your peace. You're allowed to walk away.

daily reminder that not everything has to be a joke/meme. it's okay to make art trying to understand or explore or honour something/someone, not just to score likes. if someone calls you cringe over that? that says more about them than it does about your art

i really wish i could understand what makes these people do stuff like that, i'm really sorry this has happened to you 🫂 i've been sharing my art online for almost 10 years and sometimes people do get weird but that kind of incidents are few and far between considering how long i've been doing this. it's never been this intense though, i had no idea what i was getting into when i started sharing my Alan Wake art. a lot of people are really nice and lovely, but some people can turn out to be genuinely scary. i wish i could say the harassment came as a surprise but alas.
people who have been following me for a while know my art has always come from a place of love, i always painted things and people who genuinely inspire me.
thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot, i'll keep trying to do my best ❤️
woke up to see some dumbass made a whole account on twitter called 'aicwhite' just to throw insults at me in Spanish (saying "the bitch is again posting cringe stuff for attention, what a whore") and then they posted stuff saying i'd be nothing without ai xD

lil buddy got lil socks so her lil feet don't slide on the floor anymore
when you get a puppy, you don't really think about them getting old one day, you don't think how one day their fur will turn grey and they won't be able to jump on you anymore when you come home, they won't be able to jump on the couch, they won't bark as much because they won't hear as well as they used to, their eyesight will worsen, the walks you take will become shorter. their legs will get weaker until they can't keep them up anymore. they don't really understand what's happening to them because inside, they're still that same puppy you brought home all those years ago. but you know and it hurts. you don't think about those things, you don't think about having to say goodbye one day. and maybe that's for the better, because the love they give you while they're here is worth all the pain they leave once they're gone.

You guys helped me raise €1900 to donate to Sasha by buying my first Remedyverse-inspired art book (thank you!), and a few people have asked if the new layflat book would be available too, and now it is. It’s on sale for €150 (plus shipping, worldwide), with all proceeds going to Sasha’s GoFundMe.
Sasha’s GoFundMe
Paint to Escape part II
If you want to preview the book before purchasing (or just want a digital copy) I’ve also made a free PDF version available.
Free ebook
This book is a passion project, a humble way to honour the stories that inspired me. I hadn’t planned to sell it (I made one copy for myself and one for Sam) but if it can help, in any small way, the wonderful artist who helped bring these stories to life, I’m beyond grateful.
The art book is a coffee table-sized (30cm x 30cm) layflat art book, weighs 2.5 kilos, and features 122 pages of over 100 paintings, studies, and illustrations inspired mostly by Alan Wake 2.
Please note this book is in no way officially affiliated with Remedy, it's just a work of love by a fan of the games and their wonderfully complex and weird universe.
Thank you so much for your time and support. If you can, please consider donating to Sasha’s GoFundMe or sharing the link to help spread the word. Every bit helps. 💛

i wrote this three weeks ago when we thought we'd have to put our doggo down. the vet still thinks we might have to do it soon. she's 16 and her legs are giving up, she's already on meds but the vet says they won't be helping for much longer. she doesn't seem to be in pain, she's still happy and playful and enjoys a good piece of chicken, still enjoys (very short, very slow) walks but we know it's only a matter of time before we'll have to say goodbye. for now, she's still here, still the same puppy she was 16 years ago. this is her last summer and it hurts to acknowledge that, to be aware that by the time the cherry blossoms bloom again next year, she won't be here to go on walks with me and the world will be a much lonelier place.
anyway. pls go hug your dog for me

If you make prints of your Alan Wake flower series, I will buy two copies of each. One to eat and one to hang on my wall.
aahh that's very kind of you! i'm getting around making the whole series (so far) available, i don't recommend eating them though, unless you have them printed as cake topper or something xD

Note
The fact they refer to you as a whore and a bitch shows their hate is rooted in misogyny and has nothing to do with your art.
that's what happens when people don't have valid arguments against someone, they resort to slurs. it's pretty much as low as one can get
