Monkey Safari. My favourite DJ duo from Helle, Germany. Owners of legendary Charles Bronson, house producers and nightlife addicts. Enjoy my picks of melodic part of their production!

We are brothers and that's why we know each other well. Hailing from Halle, the two Monkey Safari gents are real Nightlife addicts and indeed lovers of club culture. As owners of the legendary Charles Bronson club and purveyors of labels like What!What! Records (since 2008) & Mambo (since 2011), they truly are ambassadors of house and techno in their hometown. Happy, silly and fun sounds are the result of their creativity. Their music is tropically flavoured, crossed with an electric spark, ideal for drunken nights out, falling off heels and losing half of your drink to the dance floor. As a DJ team they merrily merge different music genres and styles from all over the globe: sometimes soft and melodic, sometimes deep and conscious, at others down and dirty, but one thing is sure, the mood is always happy. Warning: The wave their riding is high grade and infectious, this is some serious monkey business!

Filous. Young DJ and producer from Vienna. 17 days ago (13.1.2014) he posted his remix of Damien Jurado’s track Ohio and started a snowball effect. In first 4 days his breakthrough track gained more than 40.000 views on YouTube and until now there’s more than 24.000 plays on SoundCloud. It’s always so exciting to watch these social media rises!

Claptone - The Whole Story

In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded dark- ness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone.

Years spending wandering medieval landscapes have informed Claptone’s view of the world, experi- encing both magical mystery and muted melancholy he enchanted onlookers with occult instruments and beguiling sounds. Forever surrounded by a sense of intrigue, the world soon cottoned on to the elusive yet enchanting musical powers of this otherworldly beast. The results are that today his sha- manistic sonic powers take him all around the world.

Whilst Claptone has continued to roam in his own circles, 2012AD proved to be a year dominatedby his infectious ‘Cream’ track. It became an immediate hit, topping new world charts at Beatport and RA, whilst the sonic conjuring of the ‘Night On Fire’ EP also lured all those who heard it, with the result another Top 20 hit. But that’s not all, for the creativity flows freely in our hero, and his ‘Another Night’ also proved to be just as successful on the dancefloor. Deep and woozy, the Claptone sound pairs theatre with tragedy, feel good vibes with acute melancholia and imbues each groove with a Rhodes laced funk, an organic string hook and myriad earthy elements.

Up to the present day, Claptone releases have been birthed on Germany’s influential Exploited label, picking up props from the likes of Pete Tong, DJ Sneak, Soul Clap, DJ Hell, Jesse Rose, A-Trak along the way. Who or whatever Claptone is, it is alive, with a life of its own, evolving and revolving in equal measure, exploring new sounds naturally and forever taking inspiration from long gone and occult worlds. So far, esteemed and influential dancefloors at clubs in Berlin, London, Paris, Melbourne, Shanghai, New York and many others around the world have fallen under the sonic spell of this secretive alche- mist. The future is unpredictable for Claptone, but a new release ‘Wrong’ including the track ‘No Eyes’ with the inimitable JAW from French funsters dOP is on the horizon. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours...

Andhim

It was spring 2010 when the Cologne natives decided to kick their butts and get out of their studio to show their beats to the world.

Less than 12 months later Andhim made it to the top ten German newcomers of the Groove and Raveline magazines (two of the most respected electronic music media in Germany and not only). Their records could be found in the cases of famo...us DJ’s and remix requests followed from all over.

Their sound, which they self describe as “Super House” has become its very own genre built from their soul and passion. Andhim’s unique sound, party proven and of reduced nature, is organic with an emphasis in the finer detail.

The boys grassroots flow from Hip-Hop, and they work mainly with samples which makes their tracks one of a kind. This individuality has earned them a home with Labels such as Monaberry, Terminal M or Sunset Handjob.

When performing live one can really feel the full commitment and passion of the boys. Energetic, creative and always entertaining, they present their very own interpretation of electronic dance music that makes dads cheer and mums scream. The boys are transforming the decks into instruments themselves to create an extended sphere of music, which separates them from the standard reproductive character of a DJ.

Their musical talent and knowledge of technique comes from their musical resume: When other kids were playing at the pool eating French fries on their summer holidays, 16 year old Simon was scratching with several jazz-musicians through Europe. When he was 20 he became known as Simon² tempted to electronic music. Similarly, but on different level, Tobias developed in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. As part of the Turntable-Crew “Noisy-Stylus” he became a multiple ITF- and DMC-Champion and influenced the Turntablism scene of the time with Noisy-Stylus in their own Battlebreakrecords and album “Table Manners”.

The final chapter was at a Bavarian sausage-eating contest, facing each other in the final round covered from head to toe in sausage. They immediately knew what to do and founded the Boyband “Andhim”. Just a logical progression!

After massive gigs through Europe and Asia, the boys continuously work on their sound and development in an effort to explore new worlds of sound. With strong support from many Artists and Labels of the scene they are looking forward to the future with optimism and are excited to make the people of the world dance, smile and go crazy!

Climbers is the Mexicali duo, Jay Blakk and Kiko Deal, who, despite forming just over a year ago, have already been making serious waves around the world with a fresh-faced take on house music.

Climbers are fast developing a signature sound: set to classic house percussions, emphatic electronic bass lines, old school vocal sampling and atmospheric synth pads that are always pushing all the right buttons and are never less than memorable.
