A sideblog dedicated to my anime/manga fanfiction. Mostly about Fairy Tail because I apparently got a second wind of that. But to me the 100 years quest doesn't exist - more so after doing what it is doing to Gray, my bb!! 😡 You can count on randomness, be it snippets, music or the odd drawing. And lots of rambles as I complain a lot about the hardships of writing. Kind of using this like a journal, keeping me company while I attempt the writing thing. She/her (and an old)

Most infuriating part of writing is having an idea and thinking oh, this is gonna be so good and wanting to IMMEDIATELY share the vision with other people because it's gonna be good but then you start writing it down and - it is gonna be good. Except. It is also gonna take so, so, so long to finish. And in the meantime. You are the only one with The Vision. Alone. Losing your mind. 😭

The best advice i can give any creator is do it before you're good at it, do it BEFORE you're happy, do it while you suck, do it while you're doubting yourself and get stuck the fuck in, because waiting around to be "good enough" is a motherfucking trap of the highest degree. You'll get good along the way and better after ever project is complete. Remember, this is the greatest thing you've ever created, and then you'll do something else. You're only ever gonna get better, but not if you stand still.

the human mind is prone to catastrophizing when left unoccupied. And that’s why it’s important to always have a little Blorbo to rotate in your head. It acts as a protective charm of sorts to redirect your imagination away from harmful spirals
thoughts without Blorbo: oh my god I was so cringe in seventh grade why did I do that
thoughts with Blorbo: I haven’t considered the interactions with bleebus; I must rectify this immediately

sometimes writing isn’t about talent. sometimes it’s about sitting in your chair and suffering for 45 minutes until a single sentence crawls out of your skull

The advice “Write every day!” doesn’t have to be for everyone.
Writing every day without fail isn’t sustainable to everyone, especially if it impacts your health. Writing shouldn’t be so stressful that you dread it, or it ruins your passion. Take breaks! Refill your creative well! Writing will always be there. Prioritise you and your health first.

Encouragment for writers that I know seems discouraging at first but I promise it’s motivational-
• Those emotioal scenes you’ve planned will never be as good on page as they are in your head. To YOU. Your audience, however, is eating it up. Just because you can’t articulate the emotion of a scene to your satisfaction doesn’t mean it’s not impacting the reader.
• Sometimes a sentence, a paragraph, or even a whole scene will not be salvagable. Either it wasn’t necessary to the story to begin with, or you can put it to the side and re-write it later, but for now it’s gotta go. It doesn’t make you a bad writer to have to trim, it makes you a good writer to know to trim.
• There are several stories just like yours. And that’s okay, there’s no story in existence of completely original concepts. What makes your story “original” is that it’s yours. No one else can write your story the way you can.
• You have writing weaknesses. Everyone does. But don’t accept your writing weaknesses as unchanging facts about yourself. Don’t be content with being crap at description, dialogue, world building, etc. Writers that are comfortable being crap at things won’t improve, and that’s not you. It’s going to burn, but work that muscle. I promise you’ll like the outcome.

Reasons to keep writing:
it brings you joy
somebody has to take care of the characters
you have a lesson to teach
it gets you through everyday life
there's people excited for the next chapter
to provide hope for yourself and others
if you don't tell the story, no one else will
it's a way of expressing yourself / what you go through
to make yourself and others feel less alone
people adore your writing
your characters would miss you if you left
nobody can take your place / write your stories for you
to leave something behind to be remembered by
to release your emotions
to inspire other people

“But I’ve already written this a hundred times” <- write it a hundred more times, this is not your job, do what you want
“But who is this for” <- do it for yourself so that your soul doesn’t die
“But what if I don’t get any likes or comments” <- this voice is the death of all creative joy, ignore it as much as possible

You can and should write fanfiction that isn't perfect. You can and should write whatever fanfiction you want. You can and should write fanfiction that brings you joy even if it's silly or goofy or weird.
Except for me. My fanfic has to be perfect and read like a novel and ruin at least one person's sleep schedule.
