In [PROTOTYPE], what was the logic behind Elizabeth Greene's character being what it was.

Why make a character whose backstory is "in the 60s the government experimented with a superplague on a small town without them knowing it, and the only survivor of that whole shitshow has been locked in a cage for 40 years and experimented on, and had her child STOLEN FROM HER so they could experiment on him too" and then have her role in the story just be "yeah she's just a villain who's just as evil as the military who turned her into this"

We get NOTHING about her actual motivations for what she does. The military is actually more sympathetic than she is, because we understand their goal is "preventing the superplague from spreading"!

Why is Alex "personality of a slice of toast" Mercer the protagonist instead of her?

[AMA]I’ve translated over 20k words of fanfiction.

I usually translate from English into Chinese. I actually grew up in environments where English was barely taught—at school, kids didn’t even start learning the alphabet until age eight. My parents started teaching me English from the time I was born (even though their English wasn’t great), and by the time I was around ten I was already self-studying. Translating fanfiction became one of my biggest hobbies when I was 13. At first I leaned on machine translation and polished it up, but over time it turned into something much more meaningful. For a while, translation was honestly a huge support pillar in my life, since apart from languages I was pretty average at most other things.

The “200k” I mentioned refers to the amount of English I’ve officially translated with permission for platforms like AO3 and FFN. The real number is higher, but I don’t count everything as proper “translation.” I also write my own original fanfics.

I’m an adult now, but I’ve kept at this hobby all these years. I don’t work in a related field, so I can’t give professional guidance—but if any fanfic writers want to ask me about translating fanworks, I’m more than happy to answer!

P.S. All my translations are fully authorized. If you’re curious about the fandoms I work in: mostly Assassin’s Creed, Prototype, and Dynasty Warriors. I’ve also volunteered as a lyrics translator and done transcription work for subtitle groups.
