It was so different from touching himself, it felt addictive. His shyness and insecurities—about whether he was pleasant to look at, if his expressions or voice were right—battled inside him, and he had never felt so pinned under Lord Liu Kang’s bright, glowing blue eyes. It was almost as if the Fire God was seeing more than just his skin, peering directly into his soul.

In normal circumstances, such intense scrutiny might scare him, but it didn’t. Whether it was because he was a god or not, Liu Kang’s presence was soothing, calming the storm brewing in his heart and mind whenever their gazes met. The world around him seemed to fall silent for a moment. He felt calm and safe during Liu Kang’s visits, whether after Kung Lao returned from the market, walked through the forest to gather mushrooms or fruits for dinner, came back from a successful hunt—if he was lucky—or collected herbs for Madame Bo’s tea that Fujin enjoyed so much. It almost felt as though the Fire God was more interested in him as a person than in his body, which seemed ridiculous to think, but this had been going on for a month now.

I can't stop thinking about that soft little look Raiden gave Kung Lao after he ended his training with the monks in that one scene. He looked so happy and delighted to see him but his features were all warm and shit omg dude. It pops into my head at random and I can't take it anymore 😭😭😭

Look it's this scene. He gets done with his training like a sigma male and then he turns with this content and satisfied face the moment he sees his pookie walk right up to him. And the fact that Kung Lao looked so excited to show off his fancy new hat to his bff, too 😭 omg. They're soooooooooooooooo

Also is it just me or does Kung Lao look bothered to have company ?? Like he looks like he'd rather it just be him and Raiden. I've also noticed that Kung Lao kinda takes the back burner whenever Kenshi and Johnny are together like even when they were captive in Shang Tsung's laboratory nobody made sure he was okay or made any attempt to talk to him. You could barely see him he was bathed in darkness and kept pretty quiet.

Also, this was weird to me but when Liu Kang asked the trio if they were fine to go on that first mission for him Kung Lao didn't answer. I might be remembering wrong but he'd been super quiet since he'd lost to Raiden. Could just be that he doesn't like them so he doesn't bother with conversation or that he's not used to being with such different people so he's a little bit awkward. Could also be that his loss is affecting him more than anyone realizes.

But then you get to the end of the game and hear his taunts/conversations with other characters and he appears to be okay and back to normal. It's all just terrible writing high-key but I can't help but take these things in a different way. They struck gold with this failed hero character. His depth is insane and his story is endlessly tragic. He takes me back to this post
