What's in a name?
We have become used to seeing the products being used the way they’re meant to be. We’ve never actually questioned the usage and maybe it’s high time we do just that.
Finding an alternate use for a frequently used product requires you to think out of the box and getting others to do it with you as well is a true test for any marketer.
Task at Hand –
You are required to come up with a unique use of the product assigned to you. Keep in mind that you will be tested on the basis of how creative the substitute use is and how well you manage to convince those around you.
· Submit a Video ad (of not more than 30 seconds) that includes –
1. Idea of the alternate use
2. Promotion of your idea
3. Make sure you add the essence of humour in your promotional video.
(Shoot the video in LANDSCAPE mode only. Remember, if your video is not of high resolution, (preferably 720p or 1080p) your video will not be accepted.)
Additionally, submit a PPT of at least 7 slides with the following deliverables
· Convincing strategies as to why your product is better for the alternative use than what the product is actually designed to do.

Disney Parks are called the happiest places on Earth. That claim is not one assigned without cause. In 2016, the company's theme parks hosted over 140.4 million guests, making Disney Parks the world's most visited theme park company worldwide, with United Kingdom based Merlin Entertainments coming in second. It is by far Disney's largest business segment according to employee headcount, with approximately 130,000 of the company's 180,000 employees as of 2015.
Seeing the success if these parks, Walt Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, the segment tasked with running the existing parks is aiming to open a new Disneyland, which will be the biggest in the world.
TASK AT HAND:
You are a representative of your country, which is plagued with terrorism and will be holding a meeting with the selection committee. Your task is to convince the committee members in regard to the suitability of your country to play host to the world’s largest Disney Park.
You are required to come up with Public Relation strategies to convince the Disney board of directors.
You are also required to propose Marketing strategies to promote Disneyland in your country.

Well, surely it was a long day at work, as you guys are the TOP 6 it can’t really be that easy. But we feel that after all the work you guys did today, you surely deserve a good meal (or at least we do).
Bringing to you the legacy, this is the task that Thrive is incomplete without. ‘The food round’. What’s not to like about this one? The only sad thing is, this year, it will be a virtual restaurant round unlike the traditional offline rounds.
Event marketing can benefit your business in a variety of ways. Aside from helping to build brand presence before, during, and after the event, you can generate leads, pipeline value, and new opportunities. Not only does event marketing give you new channels and methods to use to connect with future and returning customers, the customer data you collect from other sources can allow you to get to know them prior to the event, so they can be treated as individuals rather than a crowd being sold to. Whether you are hosting a small webinar, a large-scale international trade show, or an executive-level private function, event marketing should be an integral part of your demand generation mix.

Task in hand:
You have to come up with the idea of an event that has been allotted to you below. The idea of the event has to revolve around a theme that is based on the interests, likes, and dislikes of the members assigned to you. This means that the given OC members/ Event Heads assigned to you are your clients for the event.
Consider the following:
1. Their Qualities.
2. Favourite Food items.
3. Any special preferences.
4. Their Hobbies.
5. Likes/Dislikes.
6. Anything you feel fits right.
Remember, you cannot ask them the above-mentioned pointers directly as they are disinterested, start a conversation with them by giving your team name/number first, keep trying until you get all the information you require.

1. The idea of your event
2. Service Mix (Extended 3P’s)
3. Promotion Strategies

The Supreme Connection
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea actually has 3 networks. We’ll will keep it as simple as possible. In “mainland” DPRK there is KoryoLink who provide 3G and have the monopoly on foreign users. They have been in the country about 5 years, but before KoryoLink there was Kumsan, a domestic company that largely still has better nationwide coverage than KoryoLink. Kumsan were also the original network before cellphones were banned, allegedly after an assassination attempt on the DPRK leadership. During the banned period cellphones were not available for regular citizens, but the Kumsan network was still used for the important folks. These networks now kind of co-exist and if you are out of Pyongyang your phone will often switch to this network, or to its 2G, or Edge.
Task in hand:
You are the Board members of the company that you choose and you are supposed to pitch to the supreme leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, convincing him to adopt your company’s services in the country. The following are the companies you are to choose from:

3. Bharthi Airtel
4. Verizon communications
5. Reliance Jio
6. LG Uplus
7. Mint Mobile
Participants, please note that you will have an auction round to choose one of the above companies at exactly 9:30 P.M. Please do your research and choose the right company. Here is the catch, all of you are given a budget of $300 million (USD) for the purpose of Marketing and Bidding for the company. Hence, you will have to strategically allocate your funds to both marketing and for choosing the company.

Opposites Attract
A merger is an agreement that unites two existing companies into one new company. There are several reasons a company undergoes a merger. For capital, for expansion, for diversification of portfolio, for growth. However, while large scale mergers are rare, the success of them is even rarer.
For the success of a large-scale merger, the companies need to complement the product and services of each other. There has to synergy of ideas and the mission and vision of the organizations.
For this round, the participating teams will be given 2 large companies. Each of these paired companies have no similarities in their product or service, their organisational structure is completely different, the management style is opposite and most importantly there is no synergy in between the two of them.
For Example- Coca-Cola and Dell. While Coca-Cola is the world leader in beverages, Dell is an electronic appliance manufacturer. While one of the companies operates in consumable goods industry, the other is in the technology and IT industry. New business line solution- Smart Dustbins.
Participants have to propose a new business line that the merger of these two companies will go into. They have to keep in mind the current strengths and area of expertise of these companies while coming up with this new product line.
Make a report (not less than 7 pages) and a PPT (of not less than 7 slides) with the following -
Deliverables
· Executive Summary
· New Product Line
· How the new product line relates to the old strengths
· STP and SWOT Analysis
· Marketing Strategies (Conventional and Unconventional) for the new venture keeping old values in mind

The Palace of Criminals
If you're a true crime enthusiast, you've heard of it, though you may recognize it by its new name "Stay on Main”, also known as the ‘Cecil Hotel’. As the site of so much promise and later, tragedy, it has piqued the interest of many, most recently, of Netflix producers with the new series Crime
Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. The Cecil Hotel is known to house many serial killers, drug lords, etc.; This hotel was subject to several horrific experiences in the past. There are 17 reported deaths that have happened in the Cecil Hotel, including the mysterious and tragic death of Elisa Lam. In 1991, the hotel welcomed another murderous guest: serial killer Jack Unterweger. Becoming a resident in the hotel years after already being convicted of murder in his native Austria in 1976, he allegedly killed at least three people during his stay at the Cecil Hotel. He was convicted of the murders and found dead in June 1994, having committed suicide. The Cecil hotel is surrounded by a 54-block radius which is called as the ‘Skid Row’. This 54- block area in downtown Los Angeles became Skid Row in the late 1800s which was when Union Rescue Mission first opened its doors. This particular area was an ideal congregating spot for hobos, aimless rail riders, transient workers, and people running away from past lives because it was the last stop on the train for the whole country. Daily rate hotels and various entertainments (mostly bars and brothels) catered to the culture of rail riders who were transient by nature.

The Cecil Hotel is now known as the ‘Stay on Main’ hotel and is currently undergoing renovation.

Yes, you all have heard it right. It’s the dialogue from the famous cartoon show Phineas and Ferb.
If you’re a 90’s kid, we’re sure you keep talking about how the cartoons of today are so different from the cartoons of your childhood, and how they used to be so much better. We have a strong suspicion every generation secretly feels the same thing; the 90’s kids just have a louder voice on the situation because of the rise of social media.
Cartoons have most definitely gone through their own form of evolution. Just like the human race, our art forms have also evolved along with us. Art forms like fashion, design, fine art, graffiti, can all be denoted as representations of society in their own eras. Cartoons are no different. In a time where cartooning is slowly being considered a lost art, we delve into the depths of history, and base a timeline on what cartoons used to be, and what they have become. So, come along and take a ride with us through the evolution of cartoons, and cartooning as an art form.
Task in hand:
The creators of the cartoon that you choose (Choose wisely), are planning to create a new season with an episode for the same which should follow this particular storyline: ‘Harley Davidson’ is facing a never seen before crisis, your episode needs to solve this crisis while promoting the company. The motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is at the horns of a dilemma. Responding to a reduced number in annual motorcycle sales and a push toward lower emission vehicles, the company has introduced a new line of motorcycles, including models featuring electric and hybrid motors. This, however, defies why many like and buy a Harley-Davidson: 'Its traditional styling and connection to classic Americana'
Deliverables:
•Come up with a name for the show and also the episode.
•The episode should be presented in the form of comic strips with 10-12 panels. (Can be made on any digital platform or hand drawn. Show us your creativity)

In the recent panel of international Olympics committee that was focused on E-sports and the Olympics. It was being debated whether E-sports were filling the gap in sporting events, including the Olympic games, which have been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.It was an interesting conversation that started out like most esports panels. The only difference here is that instead of the typical question, “When will esports catch up to traditional sports?” it was, “Will esports become mainstream enough to make it into the Olympics?” A slightly different question, but the same sentiment: The international games are one of televised sports’ marquee events, and esports companies hope to earn a seat at the grown-up’s table.
In truth, the Olympics have been dropping in ratings, audiences are slowly becoming worth less and less to advertisers because the age of the average viewer is rising rapidly, a trend we are seeing in almost all traditional sports. in that context, the average age of a Olympics home spectator is 55 years old. The average age of esports viewership looks to be around 26 years old. Think about that from a marketer’s perspective. Traditional sports are just missing young people, by a wide margin.So after regress debate the international Olympics committee has come up with the idea to include esports as a sport for Olympics. So that young generation can show some interest in the tournament.
Task in hand: As a representative of the IESF (International E-Sports Federation), pitch this idea to International Olympics committee. You also have to convince the sponsors and the countries to include E-sports as a part of Olympics.

The internet howled in early 2018 when PepsiCo chief executive Indra Nooyi suggested the maker of Doritos was exploring whether to make chips for women that wouldn't crunch as loudly or stain the fingers as much. Her company later said it was all a misunderstanding and that "Lady Doritos" would never get produced. But many misguided products have made it into the marketplace - where they've crashed and burned. It's not an easy task to introduce a new product to the market, even to a famous brand. Sometimes consumers aren't ready for the product, and sometimes they just can't find a use for it. And if that happens even an enormous marketing budget can't make people buy the failed product.

You are the Chief Marketing Officer of the company assigned to you. You need to provide a justifiable rationale behind the launch of the product.
Also, come up with strategies to overcome the bad publicity brought in by this product to the Company.

An endangered species is an animal or plant that's considered at risk of extinction. A species can be listed as endangered at the state, federal, and international level. On the federal level, the endangered species list is managed under the Endangered Species Act.
Selling protected and exotic wildlife in stores, auctions, or on the Internet is one of the largest sources of criminal earnings, behind only arms smuggling and drug trafficking. But the animals pay the price. Many don’t survive the journey from their homes, and those who do survive often suffer in captivity and die prematurely from malnutrition, an unnatural and uncomfortable environment, loneliness, and the overwhelming stress of confinement.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) was enacted by Congress in 1973. Under the ESA, the federal government has the responsibility to protect endangered species (species that are likely to become extinct throughout all or a large portion of their range), threatened species (species that are likely to become endangered in the near future), and critical habitat (areas vital to the survival of endangered or threatened species).
The Endangered Species Act has lists of protected plant and animal species both nationally and worldwide. When a species is given ESA protection, it is said to be a "listed" species. Many additional species are evaluated for possible protection under the ESA, and they are called “candidate” species.

Syncretism is the combining of different beliefs, while blending practices of various schools of thought. Syncretism involves the merging or assimilation of several originally discrete traditions, especially in the theology and mythology of religion, thus asserting an underlying unity and allowing for an inclusive approach to other faiths. Syncretism also occurs commonly in expressions of arts and culture (known as eclecticism) as well as politics (syncretic politics).
If you’re one of the growing numbers of young adults who identify as “other” when asked about religious affiliation, this is for you. Unlike those who claim to be atheists, you are honest enough with yourselves to realize that as a human being you are hardwired to be religious, but at the same time you don’t like the standard choices on the menu.

Approach the Supreme Court for legalizing your religion with the necessary forms and legalities in check with the following deliverables –
1. Reasons as to why you want to start a new religion
2. Develop a cosmology
3. Name of the religion

1. Items required everyday– Blank A4 size sheets and pens, laptop, laptop charger, mobile phone charger, stable internet connectivity.
2. Cameras have to be switched ON AT ALL TIMES during the google meets.
3. Strict adherence to time limits to be followed and submissions beyond deadlines will not be entertained.
4. Keep an active track of the blog for updates, download the Tumblr app (more convenient), follow this account to get updates on your notifications bar.
REPORT- MS WORD:
· Font: Times New Roman
· Font Size: Body 12, Headings 14 (Bold)
· Alignment: Main headings centre-aligned; Subheadings left-aligned; and body justified.
· Line Spacing: 1.5
· Cover Page, Table of Contents and Page Numbers are necessary.
· Table of contents format: S.NO; Particulars; Page numbers.
· Borders on the pages are required.
· Report must be converted to pdf.
