Make it a public affair!
Uber is on track to go public in 2019. "We're in a good position in terms of the company's profile, in terms of profitability and margins continue to get better," Khosrowshahi told CNBC's Carl Quintanilla at the Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Uber is targeting to go public in late 2019 but the company has not started interviewing banks yet. The company revealed that net revenue was up 67 percent on-year and losses narrowed 49 percent on-year. Those numbers exclude a $3 billion first-quarter gain from the sale of Uber's Southeast Asian business to rival company Grab.
The CEO said that he is looking to build out his management team, rebuild the brand and improve the product before the company goes public.
You have been approached by Uber Ltd. to market the initial public offering of Uber Limited. Amongst other deliverables, your report must include
▸ About the Firm
▸ Unconventional marketing strategies to promote IPO
▸ Specifications and Timeline of the IPO
▸ Selection of a Stock Exchange
▸ Detailed Marketing Plan for the IPO

Unbox The Feeling!
The traditional way of Unboxing was to unbox a new product through a medium of video to review the new product. While it has evolved over a period of time and now the world has been introduced to the new form of unboxing.
The evolved concept of unboxing has gained a lot of attention in the last decade, it has been increasing its expansion every single second. The idea behind this evolved concept is using an influencer to attract his followers and unknowingly making them infatuated with this concept so that they start subscribing to it. This is a subtly and interestingly incorporating influencer marketer into a business idea.
Unboxing is done by providing a themed or an un-themed box of items that are generally kept as a surprise to make the process more suspenseful.
Nowadays you can observe several social media channels and content creators like Pewdipie, Unbox therapy, iJustine, Matthew Santoro etc. becoming influencers for different unboxing companies to indirectly attract customers to this new form of business.
Since the recent terms of the development of social media have made itself more dynamic in nature, many companies have started adopting this new technique of unboxing which according to some is the best trend in Digital Influencer marketing.
Companies such as Loot Crate, Try The World, Candy Club have successfully made this a business.
Your task is to make a service of unboxing which will be themed after a “feeling” by providing a Plan of Action for 6 months along with choosing an appropriate influencer. You also need to make a video impersonating the influencer that you are choosing.
The only criteria of STP that is compulsory is that your target customers should be aged between the range of 18-25.
NOTE: The theme of your company’s box is based upon a feeling i.e. Nostalgia which is indeed the USP of your unboxing.

Brand of the Match.
Sports sponsorship revenue led by cricket increased by 14% from the previous year to reach Rs 7,300 crore in 2017, outpacing the overall advertising business, according to a report jointly published on Wednesday by GroupM ESP, the sports and entertainment arm of the media buying agency GroupM, and sports business news company SportzPower.
Sponsorship marketing has a lot of benefits, you have a captive audience exposed to sponsors that are often exclusive to a particular stadium, event, sports team or athlete. The brand awareness building opportunities are significant, and fans of a particular sport or team may feel a connection in place with the sponsors that help them succeed.
Sponsorship in cricket has become expensive and cluttered. Smart money always creates rather than chases the opportunity. Indian companies have the opportunity of creating successful sporting properties that will reflect the changes in Indian society. The question is can you grab hold of the opportunity?
The task at hand:
Select any existing brand of your choice (make a smart selection, as the aim of sponsorship is to generate adequate returns and drive more profit)
Assume, your brand is the lead sponsor of the India-England Cricket Tournament 2018, you have sponsorship rights (on-ground and broadcasting) from BCCI and England and Wales Cricket Board.
You need to come up with Creative Sponsorship Strategies for your brand.
A campaign designed to promote your brand through this cricket tournament. (Refer examples of companies with campaigns aligned to sports events )
You might come up with endorsements or brand associations.
Marketing budget (Budget of your marketing activities)
The Target Audience is only based in INDIA. Assume Match is held in India.
It is up to you to add any other relevant information. Come up with creative but logical ideas.
Remember the points explained in the class regarding this round!
If you still have any doubts, call us!
Make a report of not less than 6 pages.
Make a PPT of 7 slides.
Submission Deadline: 4.00 pm hard copy along with creatives

Clown Affairs!
Ronald McDonald is a clown character used as the primary mascot of the McDonald's fast- food restaurant chain. In television commercials, the clown inhabited a fantasy world called McDonald Land and has adventures with his friends Mayor McCheese, the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, and The Fry Kids. Since 2003, McDonald Land has been largely phased out, and Ronald is instead shown interacting with normal children in their everyday lives. However, due to the evolution of cross-cultural coulrophobia Ronald’s amicable and friendly image across the younger generations might be coming to an end. A study by Ace Metrix (a group that studies TV advertising) found that a majority of people don’t respond so well to Ronald’s existence, noting that the word “creepy” came up rather often In recent years, films such as Stephen King’s ‘IT’ have highlighted those fears, and the "killer clown" craze currently sweeping the UK and USA hasn't helped. In fact, it's led to a deluge of calls to Childline from youngsters left terrified by the sinister phenomenon. The 2016 clown sightings were reports of people disguised as evil clowns in incongruous settings, such as near forests and schools. The incidents were reported in the United States, Canada, and subsequently in other countries and territories from August 2016. The sightings were first reported in South Carolina when a 9-year-old boy told his mother that two suspicious males dressed as clowns tried to lure him into the nearby woods. By mid-October 2016, clown sightings and attacks had been reported in nearly all U.S. states, 9 out of 13 provinces and territories of Canada, and 18 other countries. While most of the 2016 incidents appeared to be wholly unsubstantiated or lacked evidence of criminal activity, a few led to arrests. Some people were cited or arrested for making violent threats to schools, and some incidents involved robberies and assaults on children and adults. Clown criminals have gone as far as to dress up as a scary and maniacal version of Ronald McDonald to scare McDonald’s customers away. It’s clear that with the events that have transpired around the world coulrophobia rising at a rapid rate and Ronald McDonald might not be a suitable company mascot in the current environment.
The Board of Directors of McDonald’s have decided that they want to distance the company away from clowns in the light of recent events. McDonald’s requires you to prepare a comprehensive mascot succession plan for Ronald McDonald.
Amongst other deliverables, you must include –
▸ Mascot Profile
▸ Mascot Analysis (How it related to MCD’s target demographic and brand policies)
▸ Comprehensive Marketing Plan for Mascot. (How it will replace Ronald and establish itself as the suitable mascot)
▸ PR Strategies addressing the loss of customers due to the clown issues.
NOTE: You might come up with some hypothetical story or reason to convince your customers as to why Ronald Mcdonald is not the suitable mascot anymore or you might stick to the reason of increasing coulrophobia mentioned in the write-up.
Extra creatives are always appreciated.
Submission deadline: soft copy at 1pm, mail us the report and creatives at [email protected]
Hard copy submission at 4pm.
