ஐ~ Miyeon had every right to feel the way she did and say whatever it was that she felt was right but that didn’t mean that Adrienne did not get hurt over the remark. Despite all her efforts, it was blatantly obvious that things were never going to be the same between them. What’s done is done and it would be foolish to try and force things to be as they were before. She doubted that telling Miyeon that she cared very little for the social hierarchy in place in their school would do anything to win her friendship back because Ari did care for it even though it was only a small concern compared to how much other’s valued it. Obviously, changing the subject was the best option for them right now and so that was what she did. “That’s settled then, I’ll change our schedules when we get to the spa.” Then, right on cue, they stop in front of the elevator waiting to lead them up to the spa center. “Let’s go.”

ஐ~ Her fingers curl into her palms as she rests them on her lap. She feels a burning sensation of behind her eyes and soon enough her vision blurs from the unshed tears. For so long Kyunghwan has never given any indication that he cared about what she did with her life and how she spent her time but now all of a sudden, he gets upset and angry at her for spending time with someone else.
“I don’t understand why you’re so upset...” She begins, keeping her gaze away from him obviously trying to keep her emotions at bay. There is a volatile mixture of anger and confusion and sadness within her that resulted from Kyunghwan’s words. Why is he doing this to her all of a sudden when he is the one who always made it clear to her that he did not care about her more than how he saw her as a useful plaything. “You never once cared about how I feel for you so why are you starting now?”
A pause as she eyes him with fiery eyes, breathing in courage. “Are you jealous of Feng-oppa?”
| let’s (not) fall in love; |
the others enjoying their lunch around them doesn’t guarantee her safety; with a long history of violently lashing out, kyunghwan knows how to do it without drawing attention. in one, languid movement, he leans forward, placing a hand on the table before gripping the handle of the dinner knife. “you look surprised,” he murmurs, pulling it out easily. “you’d thought i wouldn’t know.”
eyes roll at her question. ideas. he scoffs. you mean proof, he corrects her mentally. really, he didn’t even have to make such an effort to keep an eye on her-it was her lack of luck that she’s been spotted several times with feng. he probably approached adrienne because of him, to get the rise out of him. his grip tightens around the knife, jaws clenching. instead of answering her, he continues on. “rumors don’t start from nothing, and to make things worse you’re spotted with him in a club. not to mention he was there during the game in australia. god-” he breaks off, laughing sarcastically. “i could go on forever.”
“did you know it even reached your father’s ears? i’m yet to confirm the gossips for him.” kyunghwan tilts his head, staring at her with mock pity. “adrienne, if you aren’t going to be cooperative with me, we’re going to have to call the whole thing off.”

ஐ~ Ari only continues to glare at the younger as she cleans her scratches with an antiseptic. Her mood has obviously taken a dip after the accident for had she been in a better and more cheerful mood, she surely would have teased him about his fear of blood. Thankfully, the wounds are not deep so no further medical attention is needed aside from the fact that she needs to cover them with bandaids to avoid infection and rest for a few hours for the swelling to subside. “You saved a dog and nearly killed a human being in the process. Your logical reasoning is still impeccable as always, Jihun-ah.” To emphasize her point, she not-so-gently pokes his forehead and subsequently gains back his attention. “Yeah, they are and you’re extremely lucky that he’s extremely adorable.”
It was the puppy’s fault.
“Here, sit here, I’ll see if they got a first aid kit somewhere.” He said quickly, leaving Ari behind with the puppy that seems to have no intention of sitting down as he runs around, but by the looks of the staff of the restaurant they seem to know of him.
Later, Jihun approaches Ari with an already open first aid kit, he looks through it and nods. “Has almost everything… What exactly is bleeding– Oh god, I hate blood– here you do it.” He slowly passes the kit over to her. Eyes looking for the piece of fluff roaming at the waitress’ feet. “How did we get here?” He repeats her question, avoiding to look directly at her cut but eyeing her head instead. “Well, that– whatever breed of dog it is, ran into the slope and I wasn’t ready to be a witness of a puppy-murder, so I dived into the snow for it.” He says, not realizing as he has been speaking that a piece of his jacket was torn around the elbows, too busy watching the Japanese akita was now by Ari’s feet.
“Puppies are devils in disguise, don’t you think?”

ஐ~ At this hour, most of the students had already dispersed with their friends to their respective choice of activities for the day so there were barely any people around to pay attention to them. Ari paid little attention to the fact that the rumor mill could once again churn out stories about how she was not acting the part of a ruler by hanging out with Miyeon, someone who was of lower clique than her, but that meant little to her-- Miyeon was a friend and she was dead set on spending time with the other. “You don’t have to walk behind me, Miyeon, you know that.” She reminded with a small smile though still leaving the choice up to the other. Soon, they were walking towards the elevators that lead to the spa and recreational area. “We can just swap the massage for a steam facial then? All this snow will only dry up our skin. What do you think?”

ஐ~ When she decided to spend the rest of the afternoon in her hotel room while the rest of the guests continued trying their luck out on the slopes, Adrienne had not at all expected anyone to come in after her. The first two days of the holiday meant that everybody still had exceeding amounts of energy to burn so most of them spent it doing various activities outside and the students usually did not return to their respective rooms until the wee hours of morning. Seeing her roommate was definitely a surprise. “You could say that. I got into a bit of an accident earlier and it still kind of hurts for me to use my wrists while skiing.” She explained, reaching over for the coffee. “Thanks for this by the way. I didn’t expect to have company for a little while.”
@mkwnadrienne
“I brought you a coffee.” Risa announced as she entered their shared room, sliding her boots off near the door before walking over towards where Adrienne was. Placing the beverage down on the nightstand along with her own, the idol plopped on her bed and looked over at the other junior – curious as to why the treasurer had holed herself in the room since the beginning of that morning. “Tired of the snow and fun already?” Risa couldn’t help but joke lightly before picking up her latte to take a sip of the still hot drink.

ஐ~ She barely manages to hold back the startled sound of shock that threatened to leave her lips when he stabs the butter knife into the wood. Her eyes are blown wide with fright and confusion as she listens to him speak. It has been a while since he has been angry with her so seeing it happen up close brutally reminds her of why good things with Kyunghwan never last.
The mention of the Chinese heir’s name leads her to some form of comprehension and she forces out thoughts of concern for Feng out of her mind. This is the worst time to be thinking about him. “Where did you get these ideas from?” She asks, voice a whisper despite the fact that his friends have somehow conveniently left the room in favor of smoking out in the patio, away from earshot. Adrienne has come to learn the hard way that eyes and ears follow her every move so it really was only a matter of time before her so called boyfriend ends up confronting her regarding the Chinese heir. It has been foolish on her part to believe that Kyunghwan wouldn’t find out when he has chains clasped around her wrists.
“He is just my senior, oppa. Nothing more. You know where my loyalties are.”
| let’s (not) fall in love; |
he keeps his composure as she speaks, lips twitching into a half smile as he plays around with the knife set on the table as they wait for their food after they order. having finished early, there’s not many around them, but just enough. a friend, a friend, a friend. he echoes her words mockingly in his head, twirling the dinner knife between long fingers as he observes her.
“-that’s funny.” he laughs.
the knife is stabbed into the table, the tip buried in wood and splinters flying off. “you seem to be overstepping boundaries for someone who has a loving boyfriend.” it’s not jealousy that angers him but her nerve to play him like that, to be seen so close with someone he’s obviously not in good terms with. kyunghwan stays rooted in his seat, his gaze dark and unforgiving. “feng…” the name is spoken through gritted teeth. “out of all people it has to be him.” the smug bastard. “wanted someone else to play boyfriend and girlfriend with, did you?” he raises a brow, lips contorting into a sneer. “and you possibly can’t think of fooling me into believing that feng is just your senior you’re close to, do you? do you take me for an idiot?”

ஐ~ She cannot help the pride that swelled up in her chest when Kyunghwan tells her of his most recent achievement and the smile she sends his way was proof of it. “Amazing as always, oppa. I’m sure you would win over more than just two professional snowboarders by the time the week is up.” The compliment is sincere, as she always is with him, and his friends roll their eyes at them and begin to walk ahead into the cafe to give them privacy. She barely conceals the unexpected blush on her cheeks when he puts his arm around her.
Inside is not any different as his friends let both of them occupy a table to themselves while they seat in another. At his question, she realizes that it has indeed been a while since they last spent time together like this but at the same time, his sudden concern for her catches her off guard. “Me? Uhh...nothing much. A friend of mine hosted a victory party for me a few weeks back but since then, I’ve just been helping Father out with client and company relations. Boring stuff. How about you, oppa?”

amongst the adrenaline and the air of competition, the cold doesn’t bother kyunghwan as it usually does. the tip of his nose tinged red from the cold, kyunghwan nods, shooting adrienne a smile as he lifts his goggles from his eyes. “yeah, we had a match. and i got second place despite racing with two professional snowboarders.” kyunghwan snickers, slapping the back of his friend who came in last place.
“yeah, he’s buying.” he nods towards his friend before slowing down to walk beside her, placing an arm around her shoulders. “well, we can’t drink with an empty stomach, can we?” he raises a brow before entering the cafe. sitting across her, kyunghwan stares down at menu in silence, his gaze empty. there’s a sudden tightening of his jaw before he schools a smile onto his face as he looks up. “so, i haven’t been able to see you as often as i wanted to at school. what have you been up to before coming here?”

ஐ~ “It really isn’t that long; we’re right on schedule so we’ll most likely be finished by lunch unless we extend.”
Adrienne would be lying if she said that she did not feel slightly anxious at having invited Miyeon out to the spa; they had parted on relatively good terms during their last meeting but that did not erase the fact that awkwardness still prevailed over their meetings. She hoped that the next two hours would only result into them rekindling their friendship, especially since it was a celebration for Miyeon’s birthday. Standing up from her seat to signal that she was officially done with breakfast and that they could now head to the resort spa, she lead the other out of the room. “I planned that we have a one hour massage in the Earth room then the next hour for our manicure and pedicure. Is that okay with you or do you want to do something else?”

ஐ~ “Hello to you too, Jihun.” She took his offered hand with a glare, barely containing her wince as he helped her up. Standing on her own two feet after a dangerous fall had her worrying over the possible injuries she could have sustained but thankfully, aside from the gashes on her wrists and lower arms, there aren’t; no sprained ankles or fractured bones. Being injured would be a terrible way to spend the rest of their stay at the ski trip.
“Yeah, I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks.” Their walk to the BBQ restaurant was one of a slowed pace with both of them being careful so as not to run into another accident. It was only minutes later that they reached the restaurant’s foyer and Adrienne was only more than excited and happy to go inside in order to bask in the warmer temperature, not to mention, to ask for a first aid kit for her scratches. “How did we end up here in the first place?”
It was the puppy’s fault.
With wide eyes and a tighter hug around the fluffy thing in his arms, Jihun’s laugh erupted. “A-Ari?” He couldn’t help himself to laugh, it was just as if his prayers to running to someone he felt comfortable around was answered. “Here,” He managed to stop laughing, lowering the pup to the ground and grabbing her arm lightly, helping her up and letting her use his shoulder to lean on. “Can you walk?” He looks down at her now snow-covered clothes.
The puppy seemed to follow afterwards. Jihun figured talking to her in the middle of a slope of a hill was another recipe for disaster. Letting her walk while she used him for support, he headed back for the BBQ restaurant. “Let’s go inside, hm?” It wasn’t really an option, he kept walking, eyes nonchalantly making sure she didn’t trip over anything and having already taken her ski boards off.

ஐ~ “Ever heard of the phrase “watch where you’re going?””
Adrienne did not mean to sound so condescending especially at the sight of the extremely adorable puppy in the boy’s arms but shooting pain did things to people. With a long sigh, she carefully took off her now-broken goggles and looked up at the boy offering his hand out to her. She shot him a glare that was quickly replaced by a pained expression as she extended her arm out to him. Upon close inspection, she made out the blood slowly soaking the sleeve of her pink ski jacket and could see the beginning of the gashes from which the blood was coming from. She could only guess that the scratches came from how she awkwardly landed in the ice from her fall, thankfully, there weren’t any broken bones.
“Yah, Cho Jihun, is this how you say hi to your noona? You’re lucky I have a soft spot for you.”
It was the puppy’s fault.
The whole loud scene of the people during this whole ski trip and the unnecessary excitement of those at lower ranks– that Soojung never really invited but made their way to the resort taking advantage of what could’ve been a great vacation. It is as if they just didn’t care that next week they’re going to be ignored and not all treated as equal. Is this the Mokwon version of The Purge? Man how much did Jihun wished it was just 12 hours. Nope, it was an entire week.
He made his way out of the crowd and found himself walking on thin and soft snow making his way towards BBQ Premium Cafe. Having never really ever dined by himself at a restaurant, Jihun just needed the quiet atmosphere. Nothing but a great view of the resort and some short ribs.
Walking just by the door, he heard a squealing but quiet continuous barking noise. He turned his head and noticed a small– but gorgeous, chubby Japanese akita puppy. He gave it a small smile but it growled at him. He wondered who in the hell left a puppy that small and young-looking in the freezing snow. He frowned, as he approached it, it further walked away. That is how Jihun knew running was a dumb idea, because it kept running further away.
“Seriously? Don’t go there! Skiers pass by– Jesus, they’re going to murder you!” As if the dog could understand. Biting his lower lip in worry and running his hand through his hair, Jihun stopped and wondered what to do. He could see the skiers coming down, but not exactly the beautiful view he was dreaming of two minutes ago. This was like a horror video of a drunk lady falling in the tracks of a New York subway line just minutes before the subway made its way to the stop.
No choice but to jump and hold the puppy. This caused the skier on their way down and Jihun to collide but it meant the puppy wasn’t turned into a featherless chicken. Dead.
After a few seconds of turning and falling, a busted lip and a sore back, Jihun got up to a soft feeling of a fluff ball liking him. He opened his eyes and growled back at the puppy. What made him straighten up was the quiet groan that wasn’t his. He looked over and a girl with now a broken snowboarder goggles was pretty much in as equal pain if not more.
“S-shit, you okay?” He’d be a douche-bag and not care but she seemed a lot more hurt than he felt, he did try to hide a laugh, at least he held his hand down, he could almost make out what she looked like, still unsure of who she is.

ஐ~ “Birthday girl, over here!”
The excitement was evident in Adrienne’s voice as she waved to Miyeon in order to gain her attention. It was a little past 10:00 am and she had just finished having brunch courtesy of the resort’s breakfast buffet while waiting for Miyeon to arrive. She had originally planned for them to start their day by having breakfast together but apparently the other girl had woken up and eaten much earlier than her hence the decision to just meet up after Ari was finished with her meal. “Our appointment at the spa is at 10:30, are you ready to go?”

ஐ~ “Ohhh, I’m in my second year...well the end of my second year and I double major in business management and public relations. I work in the student government with Kyunghwan-oppa and the others. Maybe you know him?”
Meeting new people was something she didn’t particularly like though it was not very evident with her the way she acted during such situations. She was an introvert by heart though many people pegged her to be an extrovert; her outgoing personality and friendliness was something she had to learn and not something she had naturally so there were a lot of times that she still felt shy. “Making friends during a shopping trip is indeed unique but I value friends who share the interests as I do and shopping happens to be one of those.” She remarked with a grin.
“Ah yes, I attend Mokwon too, I’m just ending my freshman year, majoring in world history.” He grinned at the girl, wondering if he was too forward with revealing all these infos about himself, but he didn’t pay it much attention. Adrienne, Adrienne… that name sounded rather familiar for Minchan, but he couldn’t exactly recall at that moment from where. Maybe he just heard her being mentioned by someone at school, or perhaps his favorite hyung mentioned her at some point, he had no idea, but he decided it didn’t mattered too much anyway.. “Well, neither of us seem ordinary anyway, so a unique meeting is probably just right.” He laughs a little. “And seriously, the world needs more people like you. Oh, and you know if you happen to need help with anything, anytime, just search for me, I’ll be more than glad to help you in return.”

ஐ~ “Oh, you’re finally back! Did you enjoy yourself?”
Adrienne took the a sip from her hot chocolate before hopping off the bar stool to greet Kyunghwan and his friends with a grin. She had expected all of them to finish changing before her so she was amused to find the cafe empty after she had gotten out of the female locker room. It had always been a ritual for her to spend the first of the ski trip trying out the slopes and this year was no different save for the fact that Kyunghwan decided to tag along with his friends.
“The cafe serves really good soba noodles, do you guys want to try it out?” Though she did not know them personally, Adrienne was on relatively good terms with Kyunghwan’s friends and she hoped that it would remain as such. Looking over at Kyunghwan, she asked. “Oppa, they don’t serve alcohol until 6pm so do you want to just wait until or do you want something to eat first?”
