Let it g o . Said adios to this old grown out grainy balayage, and gave her a classic and clean golden blonde, and took off a good 3 inches with some long bouncy layers that also accommodate her natural wavy texture! I did this color to my old friend William Geoffrey (@williamgeoffrey) I basically went through and platinum carded every inch while simultaneously avoiding the already lightened hilights. then I pre-toned him using 9 ICY by Goldwell Colorance to get rid of most of the raw yellow in his hair. after that i added a darker shadow root using a 9/7 NA colorance and 8n the sides and ends. obsessed with this transformation! saved the day for William. check his awesome instagram for amazing photographs of humans. i love correcting stuff like this!

contact information update!
As a few of you have experienced, the phone number I have been providing doesnt work sometimes….and for that I am SO SORRY. I have changed my contact information to strictly email only (hair [email protected]) and from there I will contact you personally via phone call/text.
As you know success comes with growing pains, so I am slowly but surely learning how to manage my books properly and professionally. all new clients will have a very thorough verbal or in person consultation appointment with me prior to booking their appointment. All appointments for actual color services will require a $50 deposit to ensure that your appointment doesnt move or change.
Thank you all who have stuck it out with me and have been patient. I went to school for hair, and am just now learning that I’m going to have to start managing myself as well to due to lack of trust from system malfunctions!
I am doing this because I want every singe one of you to have a prime experience and get thebest service that I can provide!
xoxo,
Melly.

The truth is my 2016 has kicked off to a rocky start in my personal life. I apologize if I'm quiet behind the chair, just know I am concentrating, and trying to give you the best experience possible! You guys are so awesome, and I want to do my best on each and every single head. It's a tough time for me, but that only means I'll shine brighter behind the chair! Thank you guys! This job gives me something wonderful to look forward to every day ✨ -Mel

The Truth About Tre Spa
So this is a long overdue post!
I worked at Tre Spa briefly for 4 months, and left for various reasons. This is very important ESPECIALLY for new and coming hair dressers that are so easily blinded by glitz, glamour and a steady pay check and big words like NEW YORK CITY, FASHION WEEK, RUNWAY SHOWS
so listen closely.
The day that my previous salon, Solution for Hair and Makeup went out of business, i was heart broken and desperate. with 3 months worth of loyal clients ready to have their hair done, and zero money in my savings due to past emergencies..but anyways back to the story, the day Solution shut down, Trey Gillen from Tre Spa reached out lovingly to me and a few other coworkers of mine. He offered to give me, specifically, more commission percentage than anyone else that was already on staff. (this should have been the first red flag, because he doesn't even KNOW me! it almost seemed desperate) He threw big words around like “NEW YORK. IM A STYLIST IN NEW YORK. I DO FASHION WEEK, I AM A LOREAL EDUCATOR, I AM JUST THE BEST ME ME ME. FOLLOW ME, AND BE LIKE ME.” So under the pressure of all these benefits and the comfort of knowing i could start working like nothing ever happened and all my clients having a place to go, i took it. without question. (this was VERY stupid of me to do.) I also noticed that there weren't any Master stylists, or seasoned stylists that were working there. just a few fairly new and young faces who had been working there a few months. Yet again, another red flag. This salon claims to be the best, and running for four years, so why the huge turn over? why is no one staying?
I am a pretty well off stylist with a fairly large social media following, so Trey TREASURED me. he kissed my ass big time! I always had assistance, my clients were greeted kindly, i had someone constantly maintaining the salon, cleaning my station, replenishing products etc. and then there was a day i remember telling myself “this is a little too good to be true.” my checks were more than i was used to. but i didn't break down in my head WHY i was making that much... i started to use my brain a finally ask myself, “why am i making the same amount when I'm working three times more than when i started here? why do i never receive my tips in cash like my previous salons? and if my tips are going straight to my pay roll, then why is the amount STILL the same as when i started when i have three times as more clients who are paying more tips?
long story short i learned from CLIENTS, that they left hundred dollar bills in CASH and i don't remember receiving it. i also found out that the assistant manager Lacey Lobetta (look her up) was returning my clients’ services to HER CREDIT CARD. here’s another one- my client said when she left a credit card tip they would charge it as a “product charge” that on her receipt the $25 tip she left rang up on her receipt as a Shampoo instead of a gratuity. so the money was going to the company and NOT the stylist-Me!!
All those times trey was breathing on my neck encouraging me to uncharge my services to “help me out” were so full of shit. they were to make the Salon more money! He wouldn't even give me a service sheet explaining why i made x amount on each paycheck.
anyway-long story short
If you are reading this and you were a previous client of mine that i worked on in tre spa, i encourage you to leave a review about their yelp page and expose trey for what he is.
I am so glad i do not work for this monster. he is by far the most pretentious, FAKE, disgusting, terrible human I’ve ever met by far. He even went as far as emailing my new manager telling her NOT to hire me even after i put in a proper two weeks notice! i mean who does that?? in the state of texas PEOPLE CAN WORK WHEREVER THEY WANT. lol. At least my ex managers had the audacity of being mean to my face, this ones just a straight up snake who takes young artists and takes advantage of them pretending he cares and steals money from the hard working young artists that naively walk in that place. and from what i hear, the experience he claims to have like working under high end stylists in new york city etc etc etc is not even true. it’s no wonder why no one ever stays there. Trey Gillen is the biggest joke in the history of hair salons in Houston.
off to better beginnings :)

When you clear all the negative in your life, you have more space in your heart for enchantment. For creativity. For love. For your spirit. This is my way of expression and I am lucky I get paid for it.

Melannie Moves Again
This year has been a HUGE transition for me.
I left Albert Luiz in Sugarland, Texas, my first real job at a salon...ever. Then i got burned out. Got tired of the house wives and their monthly hilites and mid length hair cuts. I then did a huge leap and left 70 percent of my clients behind and started a new chapter inside the inner loop of Houston at a beautiful salon called Solution for hair. i ate ramen. and i hustled as hard as i could. Solution went through some tough times financially, and i loved my team so much i stuck it out through the crazy times of downsizing into a not-so-pretty salon, running low on resources, and running out of chairs to put my growing business in.
One day, the rug was ripped from right under me, and Solution unexpectedly closed down without a day of notice. Didn't even get paid my last pay check! it was one of the worse days of my life. I had 3 months worth of appointments, and no where to put my clients. My ex-coworker Lacey immediately found Tre Spa was hiring and pressured me into transferring my appointments there. everyone was so sweet and accommodating, i was so grateful i even had a place to work. fearfully i took the job without question and was just simply happy to have a place for my clients. in contrast to the salon I came from, i was easily comfortable here.
Five months later (today) I realized that I didn't CHOOSE to be here. I have my clients i love, i love the people i work with, but i can't help but wonder what else was out there. I’ve gotten plenty of job offers at different salons, but one salon that i have been eyeing for 6 years stuck out. The Upperhand Salon at Hyde park opened up in the old Solution building! I couldnt believe it. I met Rachel and her husband and it immediately felt right. These two entrepreneurs with lives outside the salon, who provide SO MUCH for their stylists as far as education and finances go. also giving back to the community. so many amazing things that come with being a part of this salon, how could i even say no?
So yes. I am moving yet again. and i apologize for the craziness of moving and those of you who have never seen me in the same salon twice, but i don't apologize for following my dreams. I feel like I'm finally doing whats best for ME. and when I’m happy my clients are happy. I am just so grateful to be a hair stylist in this time where clients seek the individual, and i don't have to worry of losing business because EVERYTHING is revolving around social media.
That being said, I hope you all will love this new location. and that you love me enough to follow :) see you guys there :)
