Your Shared Dreams
Rated: T, Missing Scenes, Kaladin/Moash, 9k
No, storms, Kal, I—” he laughed again. Tense. Anxious. “I’m not talking about the men. I’m talking about you. Just you.”  Kaladin froze.
Moash looked up to meet his eyes and added softly, “And me.”
Three missing scenes from Words of Radiance

Option one: Jasnah is one of the most saintly, good-aligned characters in the main cast. She hasn't done anything bad offscreen ever, and that's why the only examples Taravangian had for her being a questionable person are "the lesson" and those times she almost killed her family members but then didn't. She's never done anything else wrong in her entire life.
Option two: During Taravangian's apotheosis, he broke the fourth wall and is now fully aware of the Stormlight Archive as a set of novels. As follows, he made a point to only include examples which the audience would already be familiar with. I really like this theory, because in this case we can also ascribe the book's shift to aggressively modern language to being a downstream metaphysical consequence of his initial ascension.
Discuss.

a funny thing about having a Problematic Blorbo is that you'll periodically come across a post along the lines of "um let's not forget that [Blorbo] is a bad person..." listing their various crimes, and if you have a modicum of intellectual honesty you find yourself nodding along and saying yeah it's true... but it's the greyness of their character that makes them so compelling... At the same time though you have a little Saul Goodman in your ear going "your honor in their defense: who cares like omfgggg who caresssssss like come onnnnnn"

like surely what he meant was acts of evil that can be justified aren’t necessarily “right” and he assumed he wouldn’t have to say that explicitly because the example he chose was so obviously wrong, right?
that is an INSANE thing to say. not only is not relevant at all. but it also doesn’t make sense to drop nukes on civilian populations and that’s not justifiable?? WHY is that your first comparison??? he also doesn’t go on to clarify like “it’s an act of evil that you can twist logic to justify but it’s not justifiable” he just says “but is it what dalinar would do” which is like. what are you trying to say? and additionally LOG OFF. authors should not be replying to fan criticisms on reddit. LOG OFF.

Hi! This question is in reference to your tags in a wat spoiler post, but do you remember where you saw the comment/post where someone (a reader or bransan I'm not sure exactly) compared gavinor's death to America dropping nukes on japan??Japan??? I just have to see the reasoning for this 😭
Oh hey thank you so much for giving me an excuse to post this Anon, it was Brandon Sanderson himself in a WaT criticism thread on r/brandonsanderson!

remember how moash’s only appearances in wat were 1) showing up and go “ooooo im gonna getcha! bleh! i’m gonna getcha!” and then running away after he was outnumbered 2) a completely unexplored and unearned 180 on his entire character

*asking questions at a press conference voice* esteemed tumblr user moash!!! mx moash over here!!!!! in your opinion, how should Sigzil's "i renounce my oaths" have worked in WaT? as you said, he did it to protect Vienta, thus upholding said oaths. i think it just straight up shouldn't have worked, bc of that contradiction. thoughts?
i also think it shouldn’t have worked! intent on the cosmere matters! if his intent is to protect, it shouldn’t matter that he just said he wasn’t.
this scene mainly doesn’t work for me because other than his and vienta’s imminent deaths, his plan is working. he’s been hugely successful as a leader. if we’d spent more time with sigzil, if he was actually losing/the situation was more dire, if we’d seen that sigzil was prioritizing his own life over his leadership success. if he’d abandoned his oaths FOR REAL. it could have worked. just didn’t for me. it felt incredibly contrived. and like it shouldn’t have worked.
on a separate note, i hate that spren just default to turning into swords when they die for some reason. it happened to aux too. it doesn’t make sense. the ancient radiants had turned them into big swords on purpose before abandoning their oaths to make a point. i figured spren would just be frozen in whatever their last shape was. like WHY would it be a sword if their radiant used a spear. like it’s stupiddddddd

i think that’s a really great interpretation, but i wish it was more supported by the text. i think this interpretation requires a lot of reading between the lines and generosity. this moment fell so flat for me that i literally had to put the book down and take a two hour angry walk. i’m happy that other people are finding ways to make it work, but i don’t think the text itself is doing any of the heavy lifting.
omg sigzil talking about breaking his oaths in sunlit man vs what actually happens in wat is like. what are you talking aboutttttt. that’s not what happened.

If you are accepting Kalmoash song recs, Jimmy He Whispers by Manchester Orchestra kind of goes insane and the beginning literally feels like it was written with their canon relationship in mind???
