poohteeweet for Oh No They Didn’t!:
Lionsgate, the studio that produces “Mad Men” for AMC, wouldn’t confirm the amount paid to license “Tomorrow Never Knows,” but a spokeswoman said it was the most expensive music deal the TV studio has made to date. Just as significant, Lionsgate says the episode, titled “Lady Lazarus,” marks the first time a master recording by the Beatles has been licensed for a television show.
According to the article, close to the tune of $250,000. It is easily the best use of “Tomorrow Never Knows” I’ve ever seen put to film. Bravo, Mad Men. (via The Paigey)

This is Juanita. She was run over by 2 cars on Saturday night. She has 2 broken ribs but she can’t get up even though her legs are fine.
Today we were told that she has a compressed medula, and this can only be fixed with an operation. The operation costs 1,500 Argentine Pesos - approx 344 US Dollars. Juanita is being taken care of only by myself and another girl - neither of us have a job and we are depending on donations from friends and family.
Please, even if you can only spare 5$, it well help! Together we can get Juanita her operation and have her walking again.
Thank you so much!

when you gonna post again?
When Something actually gets done in the house ha! It's a pretty slow, time and money consuming thing unfortunately! I threw out my back earlier in the month attempting to paint awkward angles in the loft and have been taking it easy. I've got a bunch of holiday stuff planned though. More posts soon!

A little change up
So I've been tearing the house apart ever since we got back from our labor day weekend trip. Let me publicly apologize to my wonderful and loving boyfriend for always "starting crazy projects". Case in point, letting my bedroom turn into this disaster.

Operation "Make the damn bed" starts henceforth.
Also I'd like to let my small internet following, which I think consists of my friend Anna and my Mother, that I'm setting up a posting schedule!
Anyway, since I've been moving furniture all over the house, and moved my nightstands downstairs, I've made what could be the most ghetto tacky nightstands of all time.
Get ready.

PLUS

Equals This:

Totally tacky, and yet somehow I'm a little okay with it! Plus I hung the first pieces of art up over the bed. Two black and white photographs of turn of the century workers in cincinnati.

Now to get this room painted white! Ugh, painting breadboard, there might be few things I dislike more.
Many more posts this week, so check back soon!

Little things
I decided I didn't like the color I chose for the front door, or the screen door at that.
Before
and an in progress shot after the first coat! I'm going to do the trim and surrounding parts in white, and they spray paint the hardware a deep bronze. I know it looks a little christmas right now, but it's going to look great!
I also finally picked up a glass shade for the light. Exposed lightbulbs no more! Same with the kitchen! before
and with shades!
It's the little things. Can't wait to get some paint up on those cabinets!

My Weekend To-do List
Once a month Brian gets a four day weekend, which is normally the only time we're both not working. As much as I try not to, our weekend gets jam packed with all the stuff we've been putting off throughout the month. So maybe if I make a list we can get it all done and actually have some time for rest and relaxation.
-Finish Painting the kitchen wall. I'd like to get this done, it doesn't show up that much in pictures, but basically we've got on the walls is a sloppy first coat of high gloss paint. So I'll buy one more gallon of Martha's paint and get that done!
-Put old curtain rods from dining room upstairs, maybe spray paint for a pop of color!
-Make Curtains out of free sheer fabric from the lovely Anna! Also fix roller blinds.
-Work on the never ending list of yard work, Mow, Mulch, Edge
- Go through clothes and make a goodwill donation!
-Buy some rubbermaid storage containers for off season bedding, maybe space bags?
-Pick up Paint chips for cabinets and bathroom!
-Look into waxing and buffing floors
I think it's pretty manageable, right?

July Has Been the Month of the house guest
Sorry for the general lack of updates, but I'm pretty sure by this weekend almost everyone in my immediate family has had rotating use of the guest room. Which by the way, no longer is a clothes heap! I've been slowly working on the lady cave. I bought some Hyllis shevles from ikea, which are cheap and awesome.
14.99? Yes please. They hold all my sewing notions, patterns, and fabrics. Tonight when I get home I'm going to work some more on organizing it, and cleaning the whole house in general. Housework, it never ends.

Floor Layed!
In case you can't remember what My kitchen looked like when we moved in, here's all the photos I can find!
And about 300 dollars later!
We still have to wax and buff the tiles, but I'm basically way in love already. Who'd have thought you could get so excited about floor tiles? Also I'd like to thank Dad and laurie for coming and putting them in! Next for the kitchen I've got more painting planned!
