KOSA/the kids online safety act has been reintroduced into legislature after it passed Senate last year and then got snubbed. It is not unlike the bill that just passed in the UK a few weeks ago. If you don't want what happened in the UK to happen here, now would be a good time to vocally oppose it.

Here is a petition that can be signed by Americans. Attached to the petition is an easy tool that allows you to call and leave messages for your representatives. I have already done so. You can also email your representatives by searching for their name, most have message submission boards as well. This thing died once, it can die again.

Kneading bread dough is the most grounding thing for me. So I decided to make some rolls to relieve some stress and make something nice.

@stealingyourbones has made some delightful food abominations, which taught me I can replace the water in bread with almost any liquid.

So I tried Miso.

The yeast loved it and frothed up super fast. Mixing miso broth with the egg and oil smelled funky. The dough didn’t rise any fluffier than usual but the texture feels good. Then I decided to roll in some black garlic and green onion. I’d add nori crumbled up but I ran out.

Now we let it bake.

Horror is supposed to touch on aspects of the human psyche that are socially viewed as negative. Fear is one yes, but also dread, discomfort, sadness, grief, the filth of nature and the human body, the unsavory parts of our reality and our experiences. Diluting your expectation of horror to "this should scare me" can make you miss what that piece of media is trying to say.

Repost because people are now all huffy again about Lost Media Busters on twt posting about kids' shows. Because they initially hesitated to post Fist of the North Star due to its gore content.

I keep wanting to bitch people out over on Twitter but character limit so I'm gonna put my thoughts here.

With every lost cartoon or other children's media that gets uncovered always comes complaints of "people care too much about kids shows" "why is the lost media community so obsessed with kids media" "why does the lost media community never look for anything other than baby shit"

And its... just...

First for clarity: there's nothing fucking wrong with being interested in lost kids' media.

People can be interested in that for all sorts of reasons. Nostalgia, general media preservation because almost nothing truly Deserves to be lost even if you don't personally like it, in the case of "Me And My Friends" it can be out of spite toward gatekeepers...

And the last but definitely not least reason I can think of, there's just generally NOTHING fucking wrong with teens and adults enjoying shows and such that they're "too old" for. People can like whatever the hell they want generally as long as they're not hurting anybody. A truly mature person does not pick on people for harmless interests as hard as some of you are.

And my bigger point of ranting about these "lost media community never looks for anything other than kiddie shit" claims: They DO! All the time! There's people looking for practically everything if you just do even a modicum of research!

This is how I know y'all who say shit like that don't actually care about lost media, not even the more mature sophisticated whateverthefuck you claim to want people looking for.

Because if you actually cared about that you'd know that people DO look for that. Lost media enthusiasm is basically an entire subculture. There's a whole-ass Lost Media Wiki with an associated forum and Discord server (and LMW isn't even the only online group for lost media out there even), all in which people from all over get together and document, find, archive, discuss anything and everything under the sun that they know about.

Yes, that often includes the "baby shit" that you whine about people being interested in, but it also includes... basically anything and everything else. Shows, books, music, movies, of any age demographic, interviews, advertisements/PSAs, deleted scenes, alternate cuts, porn, even footage of IRL death.

You literally just have to look and you can probably find a lost thing you're interested in documented to at least some extent on LMW or *somewhere*.

And if you can't find documentation or searches for it, all you have to do is *ask* somewhere. Tons of lost media searches start with somebody just describing to the best of their ability something they saw in the past and can't find online, and if you ask in the right place you can get all sorts of people more than willing to help you dig whether your description sounds familiar to them or not.

Not every *individual* needs to be interested in everything at once though. Plenty of individuals just have particular interests and that's also okay.

You can absolutely find fucktons of people interested in "mature" lost media, you're just stupid and would rather bitch and generalize at the handful of individuals you personally see that aren't, instead of simply seeking out the many many many people that are, if you actually fucking cared.
