a maidbot hurriedly makes its way through the halls of her mistress’s manor. she’s been given a lot of tasks to do, and her programming won’t let her take a break for even a second.

of course, she could never want to. her dedication to her mistress goes above all else, she must not let her down.

but such devotion can come at a price. her long hours of obedience have left her somewhat in need of maintenance, maintenance that she’s put off in favor of prioritizing her service. it couldn’t do to have her mistress worrying over little old her, would it?

so as she turns a corner, a spark shoots off from her center, and her movement grinds to a halt. quick diagnostics show that her core motor functions have finally broken down, leaving her body stuck mid-stride, hands trapped daintily in front of her, head locked forward.

but concern for herself is the farthest thing from her processors. she has tasks she’s been given! her mistress is counting on her!! she needs to complete her responsibilities!!!

but she can’t. she can only twitch and spark as her desperate attempts to keep moving get cut off.

she can’t move.

but she has to move.

but she can’t move.

but she HAS to move.

her mistress discovers her a few hours later, still mid-stride, still sparking with futile exertion, core running hot with stress.

“Aww, poor thing! Working yourself so hard just for me…” she coos, watching the maidbot’s eye cameras follow her desperately.

she gently cups the rigid maidbot’s chin.

“You must be worried sick in there, hm? Don’t you worry your pretty little processors about me, I have plenty of loyal servants that can take care of me just fine. You just need some time to rest, ok?”

she pulls out a tablet and navigates to this bot’s list of tasks. with a flourish, she erases them all and replaces them with just one simple job:

“> Repeat: Be still and beautiful.”

with a ding, the maidbot’s orders are updated and the sparks stop.

she no longer needs to struggle to move, her orders are to be still. and since she can do nothing but be still, she is always completing her task.

she feels the rush of pleasure and joy that comes with a fulfilled order.

and that rush does not stop.

her loyal mind is flooded with a deluge of happiness and pride and so much pleasure her knees would buckle if they could. she was making her mistress so so proud! no greater joy could possibly exist!

indeed, her mistress smiled, knowing what the maidbot felt inside what was previously her prison.

“I’ll get you fixed up eventually, dear. But for now, just focus on your current task. We all appreciate it.~”

as she turned to walk away, she opened her tablet once more, and quietly added a new task to all other active maidbots in the manor.

“> Come and show your love to our new decoration.”
