Ah consequences, the bread and butter of this show.

I like that, as we progress within the story, we as the viewer get to see when lines are blurred between the innie and the outie.

Admittedly, Harmony Cobel (love her and the reveal of backstory) was actually the one doing things right, albeit cruel, as compared to Milchick, who deviated from her ways and thus inciting this large change within the characters.

This is because Harmony was keen on keeping the lives of the outies and innies strictly separated. No information leaking in, and no lives destroyed out, which was the whole intention of this severance program in the first place.

Yet when Milchick, who was convinced he was doing a better plan by being kinder and compassionate to the innies, as i assume an outsider compared to Harmony who was raised in the way of Kier, he basically wrecked the flow of the system and introduced chaos by sewing all the lives together.

The best example right now would be the weird romantic situation of both Irving-Burt and Dylan G. and his outie's wife. Essentially, it all boils down to them asking, "should we, will we".

I just find that the pinnacle of them being 2 separate people is finally given emphasis in the second season (episode 9) and the dire effects it has on the people connected to them is magnified.

so far,, based off her looks i kinda wanna make it either:

a dark fantasy but make it pirates. she's gonna be a siren/mermaid because her hair looks like sharp fins.

school/office setting but power AU,, since her hair also reminds me of paper, and possibly something to do with papercuts is her power ?

i lololoLOVE the staredown between harmony and that female news reporter/messenger (i forgot her name).

CURRENTLY AT EPISODE 7, and as i've remarked, i love the extended staredown between for the reason that HARMONY, though i may find her character off-putting mainly because she's a sub-antagonist, finally got her time to shine infront of the board !!

as we can tell, she's deeply loyal to Lumon, coming from one of the scenes where she prays to a homemade (???) shrine of the founder, and that we can infer that she's very much wants their approval towards her work, but the problem is that she doesn't exactly get it that easily.

the board usually dismisses her, belittles her as a person and we can see it clearly by the way that not only do they communicate via a radio but they don't even have the gal to impart ONE word to her. in contrast, they expect her to speak FIRST addressing them, which shows how much of a pawn she is to them.

and now that she finally has something that's worth their time and attention and she stares HER down and i love it. because the reporter was also showing signs of ego and looking down on her, so i find that it's such a good, "i'll show you your place" moment.

AGAIN,, i don't like harmony as a person... however... as a character she's so intense and brings so much to the show's balance and honestly i could talk about her for a little while indeed.

i like that when you think about it,, this type of character often ends up being friends WITH the MC, yes I'm talking about the gag villain.

writing does state that objectively they aren't even the main antagonist so instead they become the fandom's little babe instead.

i also wanna say that it's such a great thing to point out that amidst all the psychological tactics that Lumon does to its employees, one of the best feat they've done is isolation.

see i'm sure that there are hundreds of studies that proves why isolation is such a disease for someone as social as the human, not just mentally but emotionally, physically AND socially.

take the show for example (BTWW i'm just in episode 5 and am already loving every bits of unfolding information) when we finally uncovered the circulation of rumours that spread, causing each department to avoid each other.

for sure this may just be a clause that prohibits them from meeting each other (don't exactly remember) but aside from that, we now know that the lack of initiative that prevents each department from interacting is their hindsight and obvious stereotyping against each other. it was always the rumour about a coup that prevented MDR to approach, only for them to be surprised there's also a spreading rumour about THEM as well.

THIS was caused by isolation. it caused them to doubt one another, and thus forming less and less of unified opinions and defeating them from broadening their views. because of course, the more people who are grouped together and share different values, the more united and focused they become against the bigger powerhouse that controls them.

i just think it's very neat.

for starters am in season 1, and 'm sooo confused because why is it that harmony is doing EVERYTHING behind the scenes when the outies are in?

do they not have actual personnel for this? what about milchick? and even surveillance too she's doing a hella lot of it.

she's working so damn hard and i guess it could just be a greatt exposition to show that people in power aren't part of the herd, however it's still bizzare to me.

I honestly don’t understand why there aren’t more people who, when given the platform to discuss minimum wage, don’t simply distill it to the simplest of facts:

A forty hour work week is considered full time.

It’s considered as such because it takes up the amount of time we as a society have agreed should be considered the maximum work schedule required of an employee. (this, of course, does not always bear out practically, but just follow me here)

A person working the maximum amount of time required should earn enough for that labor to be able to survive. Phrased this way, I doubt even most conservatives could effectively argue against it, and out of the mouth of someone verbally deft enough to dance around the pathos-based jabs conservative pundits like to use to avoid actually debating, it could actually get opps thinking.

Therefore, if an employee is being paid less than [number of dollars needed for the post-tax total to pay for the basic necessities in a given area divided by forty] per hour, they are being ripped off and essentially having their labor, productivity, and profit generation value stolen by their employer.

Wages are a business expense, and if a company cannot afford to pay for its labor, it is by definition a failing business. A company stealing labor to stay afloat (without even touching those that do so simply to increase profit margins and/or management/executive pay/bonuses) is no more ethical than a failing construction company breaking into a lumber yard and stealing wood.

Our goal as a society should be to protect each other, especially those that most need protection, not to subsidize failing businesses whose owners could quite well subsidize them on their own.
