this scene says so much about stone without stone saying anything at all. genuinely its one of the moments that stuck with me the most. this is who stone is when the doctor isn't around. this is the part of stone we see in the prequill comic.

"This is Dr. Ivo Robotnik — dedicating my final live stream to one very special henchman. Agent Stone... If I can't rule the world... I might as well save it for the one and only person who ever cared about me."

agent stone versus gerald robotnik:

in this scene here in sonic 3, where they reunite, gerald says to ivo “magnificent creations, my boy.”

while in this scene in sonic 2, stone exclaims to dr. robotnik: “sir, you’re magnificent!!”
gerald saw greatness only through robotniks machines, and used his talents and intelligence for his advantage. stone, on the other hand, saw it through everything the doctor did and everything he was.
