I had a silly thought the other day for something I could commission if I wasn't so cheap. Design a t-shirt featuring my self-insert OC Monsoon, pay someone to draw Rogue wearing that shirt, and then get that art on a shirt.
It's a good thing my Rogue obsession is tempered by being a cheapskate. Otherwise I'd be spending irresponsible amounts of money on things like this.

Proposal for a Rogue movie.
Quick recap of her origin; a young teenage girl with a white stripe in her hair, climbing a tree and wearing a frilly dress that's clearly not designed for that activity. She's gone up to untangle a tire swing that's gotten caught in the branch that sticks out over a river. As she's trying to get it unstuck a boy her age asks what she's doing. She gets the tire free but in the process falls out of the tree. She manages to catch herself on the tire swing so she doesn't fall into the river, then swings back to the bank. The boy, Cody, tells her she doesn't have anything to prove and they have an awkward teen first kiss. Just as they're starting to enjoy it, Cody drops to the ground like a puppet whose strings have been cut and Anna Marie starts to experience memories that aren't hers. Whether she's overwhelmed and passes out or gets confused and runs away is to be determined.
Skip a few years, the same girl is a bit older (17), dressed all in green, and is waiting to ambush a blonde woman walking along the pedestrian path on the Golden Gate Bridge. The woman passes her by, the girl pulls off her gloves and sneaks up behind her, then reaches around and grabs her bare face with both hands. There's a struggle, the girl holds on longer, and eventually the woman goes down. A radio crackles to life with another woman's voice asking "Rogue, status report?" The girl reaches up to an earpiece and replies "Mission accomplished, but something ain't right. She's still putting up a fight in my head." "Get rid of Danvers, then proceed with the plan." Rogue picks up the woman's body and throws her off the bridge, then flies away.
Rogue fights the Avengers and does other not-so-legal things under Mystique's direction but as time goes by she's getting more and more unsure of herself until one day she gathers up the courage to knock on Charles Xavier's door and ask for his help. We learn that the woman Rogue threw off the Golden Gate Bridge survived and is now in Xavier's care (whether she's become Binary or not may not matter). Rogue tries to earn the X-Men's trust and works to make amends for her past mistakes.
Either all of the above happens in montages within the first 30 minutes or so to establish Rogue's character for whatever the plot is in the rest of the movie, or this is fleshed out more to make it the whole movie and her heel-face turn happens near the end. In any case, by the end of the movie we have the sassy Southern Belle we've come to love over the past 40 years in her iconic green and yellow outfit with the brown leather jacket.

I saw the new Superman movie over the weekend. I quite enjoyed it, though not so much that I feel the need to go see it in theaters again. I do recommend that you see it though.
One of the points raised in the movie is Superman stopping one fictional country from invading another fictional country, and the implications of a metahuman individual interfering in geopolitical affairs. I had thought about including something like this in the fanfic I wrote last year, where Rogue somehow comes from 1994 in the Marvel universe to 2024 in our world. I decided that no matter how much I'd like to see it happen, it wouldn't be wise for her to get involved in the Russia/Ukraine situation nor anything in the Middle East. That and I'm not at all confident in my ability to write a story about something I have so little understanding of.
#rogue#x-men#superman#mild spoilers#fanfiction#god empress rogue does kind of have a nice ring to it though

Testing something to see if Tumblr works the way I think it does. If I tag a post using a tag that I've blocked, does it block my own post from view?
So to make it relevant to the tag I plan to use... I don't have anything against Gambit as a character by himself. If I'm being honest with myself then I'd say that charging up small objects with some form of energy to turn them into explosive projectiles is a cool power, and using playing cards as the gimmick is clever. They're relatively cheap and you can lean into all sorts of gambling puns and references with your combat banter.
The problem I have with him is that I've seen him as a rival for Rogue's affections for the last 30+ years. Yes I know they're both fictional, but the love I feel for Rogue is real as is the jealousy/envy I feel toward Gambit.

I love my wife.
So I've got this playlist of songs that I would dedicate to Rogue if she were a real person (and also not married to Gambit, and also if I was immune to her powers, and if she was here with me, and... you get the idea).
My wife, who has written her share of Destiel romance fanfics over in the Supernatural community, shared with me a playlist that she used while writing one of them to give me a few more songs to add to my Rogue playlist. All because I had mentioned the other day that one of the problems with listening to my playlist is that so many sappy love songs are also very calm and relaxing, so it's not a good list to listen to if you're having trouble staying awake.
#rogue x writer#playlist#adventures of mr and mrs monsoon#rogue#x-men#parasocial relationship#it helps that i'd dedicate most of these songs to my wife as well

I thought of a way I could make my Aloy and Rogue teamup happen, though it wouldn't be Savage Land Rogue. I could get one of those Horizion Lego kits with an Aloy minifig and then combine that with one of the Rogue minifigs I got from the X-Jet and Xavier's Mansion sets.

I started playing Horizon Forbidden West a few days ago. And of course, me being me, I've imagined Aloy and Savage Land Rogue teaming up for adventures. If I had any artistic talent I'd try to draw it.

I've seen a few panels from recent comics where Rogue is able to touch Gambit, so it would appear that she can control her powers now. (Yes, I'm out of the loop, not having bought any comic books in almost 30 years.) Which kind of throws a monkey wrench into the works for me or anyone else whose fantasy involves being conveniently immune to her powers as a way to get their foot in the door.
Not that I would expect her to be like "I can touch you, let's fuck." More like "I can touch you, so I'll give you a shot." And then I'd have to win her over with my other charms. And there must be something there if my wife has stuck with me for about 20 years despite my obsession with a fictional woman.

I stopped reading X-Men comics in 1997, about the time of Operation Zero Tolerance. I've been thinking about signing up for Marvel's service that lets you read comics in a digital format so I can get caught up with modern day. But there are a few things that I know I'd rather not accept as canon. Chief among them is Rogue being married. To Gambit, of all people. I have nothing against him, apart from the jealous feelings that one would have seeing someone they love getting together with someone else.
I'm wondering if it would help me to understand/accept things better if I were to go back and read all the stuff I've missed, see for myself how Rogue, Gambit, and their relationship changed over time to the point where they're almost the same mutant power couple that Scott and Jean used to be back in the day. Or if I would be better off trying to stay ignorant of the whole thing.

The other day in one of my Discords we got on the subject of the X-Men playing D&D as the characters from Baldur's Gate 3. This is what we came up with, in alphabetical order by BG3 character name...
Astarion - Remy; because of course he'd play the thieving class Gale - Hank; too smart for his own good sometimes Halsin - Ororo; in touch with nature and mama bear energy Jaheera - Jean; team mom Karlach - Anna Marie; stop me if you've heard this one... strong woman who can't touch anyone without hurting them Lae'zel - Scott; playing the Fighter but also providing potent tactical advice Minsc - Bobby; heard the others were having fun so asked to join in, and he's made a life-size Boo out of ice Minthara - Emma; switches allegiances when it suits her, always on her own side, and sexy in a way that could get someone killed Shadowheart - Kitty; to be honest, this was just because they both have Shadow in their name Wyll - Kurt; swashbuckling swordsman with a demonic appearance and the heart of a saint

I'm getting old, I don't recognize most of those songs. This is my Rogue playlist...
I miss Rogue in the movies too much than I thought... And in the cartoons...
