                              “ because she’s your mum, you colossal pain in my ass .” rey chides, but visibly softens when he continues, trying not to let him off the hook too easily though, she flicks his forehead before smiling wide and bright , “ why would she … your mother is going to spend every free moment she has feeding me, isn’t she .” not that rey’s complaining , her cooking was better than anything she’d ever tasted , and a day dedicated to it well…  count her in, even if it also meant dodging questions about her and ben.  “ – you like wine ? i thought all the vodka would have burned your taste-buds off by now.” 

          “ yeah and maybe if you’d picked up your phone, you would have a better idea than the one out of the loop. ” ben visible crumpled his nose at the childish gesture, hand instinctually going up to rub at the place rey had flicked. “ it’s a big ordeal, i’d be surprised if she has time to say hi before getting distracted by some other relative or friend. we, uh, go hard for pesach. or whatever the youngins say. ” ben didn’t particularly enjoying spending time with so many members of his family, too many questions. too many failures. the pride and joy of the solo-organa household reduced to nothing but a sorry excuse for an adult. but he liked passover. and with so many people, it was easy to get lost in the frey. he just needed a someone to keep him company.  rolling his eyes, ben refused to let his amusement escape in any form. “ what can i say, i’m a complicated man with complicated taste. ”
