Birch wiped his eyes with his free hand and nodded.

“I’ll be careful, thanks vod,” he said softly before standing up and walking out of the medbay in silence.

The door to the medbay hissed open and the newest member of Moon squad walked into looking uncertain. He’s clutching a bleeding hand tight.

“Paws, you here?” Birch asked

Paws frowned as he wrapped a wound on a shiny from a gang member. "Your stable now, but don't move." He said adjusting the pain meds, before hurrying to the open room.

"ye-oh kriff." He hurried over and grabbed a roll of gauze from a tray. "What happened?"

“Paws I don’t know!” said Birch, “I wasn’t out yesterday, Lucina was last I checked, but I honest to the gods have no idea how I got this wound,”

Birch was frustrated. This was frustrating. Lucina was frustrating. She was the whole reason Fox was mad at him in the first place.

“I really don’t know,” mused Birch, he could trust Paws he could always trust vod, “I wasn’t fronting much yesterday, it was there when I woke up. I don’t know who was fronting when we got it though,”

He leads Birch into his office and offers him to sit down on the comfortable armchair before going to get Birch a cup of water.

“I-Lucina fronted. We walked by an art store and saw the supplies and the next thing I know, it’s seven hours later, we left out post. I get a comm from Fox and he’s mad. I left my post, Thorn because Lucina got distracted. Usually Glimmer smoothes this over, but I guess Fox heard first,” whispered Birch, “I’m so sorry Thorn. I’m sorry. I tried super hard to prevent Lucina from fronting but I failed. I’m sorry,”

"Birch? Hey, Birch!", Thorn jogs up to him to greet the barely familiar trooper with the moon shapes on his armor.

"Hey lad, what are you doing over here, I haven't seen you in a while."

“I don’t know where we’re supposed to be…” he trailed off staring blankly in front of him, swaying slightly. It lasted a minute before he blinked and glanced around.

“Ah shit,” said Birch, “Um, hullo Commander Thorn. Um what the kriff happened? Oh no, did-did Bark walk out of Commander Fox’s office? Shit shit shit Fox is going to kill me!”

Birch’s breathing quickened and he looked very worried.

“Fox is going to be so mad at me,”

"Is that who that? He scared Birch so badly he stopped fronting. Then Lucina fronted and got scared too and she retreated, then Bolt tried, but it was too much. There was so much rapid fronting and then suddenly I'm fronting and I'm being yelled at and it was too much so I ran away. He was so loud and scary and I couldn't take it so I ran. I ran away. I don't even know why we were being yelled at in the first place," whispered Bark, looking anywhere but Thorn, "Did we do something? It can't have been, this is my first time fronting it a while. I have no idea what's going on. Where are we, what is this place?"

"I'm Bark, sir," said Bark, "Something happened, Birch isn't out. I'm sorry. No one else is. No one wanted to deal with it. The vod with grey streaks was angry. Shouting and stuff. I was really scared. Why was he mad at us? What did we do?"

Bark's voice was almost child-like, nothing like Birch had sounded a few days back. Bark rang his fingers and shuffled his feet, acting like a skittish cadet.

Birch? turns. He looks confused and disoriented

"Do-Do I know you? Do we know you?" He asked quietly

He was confused. Why was he here? It didn't make since. Gale usually stopped him so why was he here? Who was this strange vod before him. He didn't know. He hated not knowing. Not knowing was scary. Not knowing got him hurt time and time again.

"Commander Thorn, Captain Glimmer wanted me to drop of the reports to you. She had to go on patrol, so she couldn't hand them in herself," a young Trooper said standing to attention in front of Thorn.

His armor, while painted with the corrie guard colors, also had a small moon design painted on the upper left part of his chest piece, close to his shoulder pads.

"Ah, that is very kind of you, but please", he took the paperwork from the soldier's hands, "Thorn is fine, you don't have to address me by my rank, makes me feel old and ugly", he snorted about his own joke, skimming the report briefly for any critical information.

"What's your name, vod'ika?"
