for the record this is part of why i love the midnight mission team so much and g-d i hope it doesn’t change.

like, yes, yehya and marc are brothers. but they don’t become family by being technically brothers on their god’s side—for marc to accept them as brothers, he has to be able to trust hunter’s moon, and they have to build more of a relationship.

but aside from them, there are no found siblings or found parents. reese and marc are family, but he’s not her fucking dad. tigra and marc are together, but first they are dear friends—and they’re still family even without being married.

8-ball has major lame cousin energy, but he’s part of the family nevertheless.

the midnight mission itself is family—it’s a haunted house and their home, but most importantly, it’s marc’s friend. he knows it, he mourns it, he fights to avenge it and brings it back from the dead. and every member of the mission grieves for it!

soldier is marc’s guy, and he’s also reese’s deeply beloved friend who she’s taken a bullet for and goes out of her way to be around and include—and jake clearly has a relationship with them both, and an especially close one with reese, even if they’re only seen together twice.

this is the found family i want! i want mutual care and love and trust! i don’t want everyone to be brothers! for fuck’s sake!

i’m not saying alex dewitt wasnt WORSE, but i think it’s worth noting that this is a most heartbreaking death tournament.

her death doesn’t make me, like… sad. definitely not nearly as much as destiny does. in fairness i’ve barely read either comic outside of skimming for death scenes, and i like mystique, so maybe i’m missing something. but like.

alex just pissed me off. it is so infuriating (and such a weird/bad writing choice) that it named the fridging trope. but i’m not heartbroken, i’m just sick of Men Writing Women behavior.
