What's happening in South Korea:

Some of you may have memories of violently misogynistic chat rooms being leaked, where Korean men posted their constant abuse, harassment, humiliation, and rape/SA of women in their lives. They were strangers or coworkers or partners or anything else.

It's happened again and it's worse this time.

I've been reading threads on Twitter from Korean women who are victims of these chatrooms from their own brothers, how one's brother got paid to take sneak photos of his own sister. Many of these women are too scared to come forward under normal circumstances, but they've been emboldened by both one another and the global support of feminists in other countries (I've seen mentions of Nigeria and India the most, though I know it wasn't just them).

They're asking for help from women around the world to raise awareness about it. I remember one tweet saying something to the effect that the Korean gov won't act unless it becomes big news.

I think theyve gotten one of the chatrooms shut down but I'm using Twitter's translate feature. If there's any missing information/clarification, please feel free to add!
