he lets out a tiny cry,  choking it back. He  mutters a small sorry under his breath.  He doesn’t want to be weak. He has to  grow up. He has to be  strong. 

    “I hope you’re right.      What if they’re hurt?      Do you think they got       hurt? Zach said I’d       be okay and I got       hurt. What if he got   “  He chokes at the  words, head dropping  and he starts crying  again. 

    “It’s a big park Gray. We’ll have a better      chance of finding him if we can get back      to your aunt and regroup. But I promise      we’ll find him.”

             She helped him stand, squeezing his shoulders gently once he              was on his feet before looking around, trying to place where they              needed to go. She motioned for him to follow, keeping her pace              slow for him and her footsteps as quiet as possible.

Gray steps towards the glass,  fingers tapping right back in  the same way the bird had  before.  He was smiling the whole  time, taking a few more  pictures before putting it  back in his fanny pack.        “I think she’s amazing.         Her wings are so big!”  He bends down, muttering  numbers under his breath  as he tries to count the  small teeth in the flying  reptile’s mouth.

                         ❝It’s fine kid, really. ❞ In all honesty she felt like a major asshole for bringing her full personality at him when all he’d wanted to do was see the birds. He was just a kid and he couldn’t do any harm. Besides, he was genuinely interested, which was more than she could say for most of the people that came up  to the cage. They just wanted to see her birds do flips and hunt the mice they set loose for them. Mayhem tapped at the glass, big yellow eyes leveled on the pair.                                  ❝Yeah. She got her name                                   from those American commercials.                                   back when she was younger we                                   had to keep replacing equipment                                   because she broke it all.❞

He’s not sure about her,  most strangers didn’t  come up and talk to him.  Not like this.      “I’ve not heard anything,       I wanted to be surprised.       There’s not much        information out there yet.”

    “You think she’ll really       do that?”  He can’t help but  to smile at the  thought of the thought  of actually riding a  dinosaur! All his friends  would be so jealous. 

       “ In that case, cool. We can              bug Claire about it later -              hey maybe she’ll let you ride              a big one instead o’ those tiny              ass ones in the kiddie zone. “ 

 Gray was excited and enjoying himself,  so he relaxed as he kept pace with the  other’s steps. Anything to stop the sad  puppy eyes.

but also idk why i thought of this  but an au where owen and claire  were married and zach and gray  are their kids but they’ve gotten  a divorce and family “vacation”  to Jurassic World but it’s more  like bring your kids to work day  for the two and then shit happens

rewatched Jurassic World and picked up on some more  Gray things: 

he has a monster under the bed that he feeds 

he clings to zach for comfort, zach pushes him  away a few times and gray still reaches for him 

HE COUNTS THE TEETH OF EVERY DINOSAUR. HE GETS FUCKING EXCITED ABOUT COUNTING THE TEETH. I DIDn’T EVEN NOTICE 

when one of the raptors crash through the glass door, he runs without looking back 

he obviously looks up to owen as a hero pls owens let me rp this with you 

he’d admire and respect Blue after she helped save them 

he’s already jumpy at loud noises my poor bab

a very clingy baby. Touching makes him feel  better. he either is clinging to zach, owen, or  his aunt. he holds onto his mom for a really  long time 

he was panicky about going to Jurassic World  without his parents! my poor baby 

he’s not good at dealing with zach’s cruel words 

he probably will never wear fanny packs again

Just let it be over quick.  If he’s going to die, just  kill him quickly.  Raptors didn’t do that  though. They ate their prey while it was still  alive.  He can’t help the sobs  that escape his lips.  He’s so scared.  Everyone had left him  here. They’d run  without him. He was  going to die alone and  in pain.
