Just got home from the er. Confirmed kidney stone.

His laughter filled the air as he shot a cheeky grin over at Gladiolus who had looked a bit huffy that he was implied to only be everyone’s space heater.

“You’re right about that, Gladio heats up the tent that you’d almost think it was on fire.” His laughter only grew louder when a small rock was tossed his way in return. “I kid, I kid!”

Prompto settled down as he listened to his best friend speak and felt the back of his neck warm up.

“Ah, nah man! Who need’s everyone else when I got you guys, right?” He grinned and bumped his head softly against Noctis’ own. “I mean, I appreciate you wanting to show me things, but I’m just as happy getting to experience this all with you guys. I mean, traveling with my best friend? Granted the circumstances aren’t great, but I wouldn’t trade that up for the world.”

Words like that made his heart flutter though. That he truly fit in with them, with Noctis. It put his anxious soul at ease.

Noctis grabbed onto Prompto’s waist, almost as a preventative measure. “Won’t let you,” he warned.

“Yeah, Iggy’s getting the marshmallows... Hey, did you go camping much before this trip? It can be pretty fun. Sometimes... Except for the bugs.” He stuck out his tongue. “But, other than that. It’s good.” He hummed contently and rested his chin on Prompto’s shoulder.

“Whaaat, why not?!” Prompto chuckled but relaxed into the grip anyway. Not like he had been serious about jumping into the fire. A hum left him as he leaned further into the other, getting far more comfortable than was probably right.

“Score, I always wanted to do this.” the gunner cheered quietly before tilting his head to look at the prince.

“Camping? Nah, I was too busy with...stuff to go camping.” His body tensed up at the mention of bugs. “Ugh, I don’t want to think about bugs right now, dude. Come ooon.” He whined and huffed at Noctis. “But this is fun. I mean, aside from the cold.”

Camping wasn’t always ideal, and with the shift in weather, it happened to suck even more. Why hadn’t he packed something with sleeves?

Despite the numerous warnings to not sit so close to the large fire they’d made, Prompto huddled close to the welcoming flames. Chilled hands stretched out towards the warmth they provided. It was almost no surprise that Noctis had joined shortly after, the gunner immediately leeching off his body heat by scooting closer to the other.

“If I throw myself in the fire to warm up, get me out before I burn to death.” Prompto joked, humming tiredly as he tried to keep warm. “Please tell me we managed to convince Iggy to buy marshmallows for this, else I’m gonna stage a revolt.”
