Christina & John wanted a farmhouse, but finding the perfect one, on the right property, in a town they loved, and within their budget was like finding a needle in a haystack. So when the couple stumbled upon a worn-down farmhouse on a weekend drive to Callicoon, New York, they decided to take a risk (and take on a major renovation project) by making it their own.
They only had a budget of $30,000, so they hired some professionals when they had to, but did everything else themselves.
Their handsome formal living room has a crate for a coffee table, but they’ve added a glass top and wheels.
Good idea- placing a console table over a radiator. The old croquet set fits perfectly underneath.
Gray Shaker cabinets in the kitchen and new counters. The sink have have been there already, which is fantastic, but the old paneling and ceiling tiles weren’t removed, and simply given a fresh coat of paint. Inexpensive open shelving was hung to display pretty dishes.
The old farm cabinet in the dining room acts as a sideboard to display the good china.
Simple grouping of interesting picture frames.
The children’s bedroom is bright and colorful.
Beautifully done master.
There’s plenty character and room for guests in the attic bedroom.
The bathrooms are beautifully furnished with antiques, also. They did a great job with a reno budget of $30,000.

Pictures of Klaus’ bedroom at the Academy

“One day I aspire to illegally land a plane in Mexico…”

“Where the fire burns so do I feel the pain electrify me. You cannot kill the willing to die.”
“My skin crawls with the seething visions of the night.”
“It makes me feel like dark + small.”
“To keep at hand whatever it was the mountains meant and maybe that was love and maybe it was longing.”
“Even in the darkest caves there is a light!”

“Obey, obey, obey, oh can you obey.”
“Sorry… I tried to wake up for you but sleep took me again…”
“Cheats, you lose!”
“And why didn’t I ever actually love the others?”
“Faceless and nameless.”
“Wants, desires, nothing else matters.”
“Consume everything then consume yourself.”

“This is the door.”
“See no truth, speak no truth, hear no truth.”
“How do I know who I am?”
“Fast as I can run.”
“The day we die.”
“What is the truth of everything.”
“This is the tune that’s caught on my tongue. The only song (…) wasn’t song. And when I’m 89 I hope I still look up and say Ohh (…)”

“What must I do to feel anything? Vacuum the void of space. Space dust all clean.”
“Forge my soul in the fire.”
“How do I know who I am?”
“Do not feed the animals.”
“Off with his head.”
