I can't imagine the times that Effie had to care for a drunken Haymitch; making sure that he's not choking on his own vomit in a blacked out stooper, bringing him water and painkillers for the constant hangovers, dealing with his rude outbursts and having to learn to not take them to heart. All the times, she's probably held his hair while he's puking into the toilet bowl, trying to reassure him that she does this for her girlfriends all the time.

Maybe even whispering to him that he's not a burden when she knows he might feel that way. Or perhaps she always kept her distance, but it's hard to imagine that 20 something years didn't lead to at least one night of her taking care of him, even if out of pity or the need for him to get it together for his tributes. Haymitch tried to hug her during the reaping, for Christ's sake. Sure, he was drunk, but if he hated her or was truly annoyed with her, I can't imagine he'd want to touch her at all.

EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY. I think obviously it would have to be a slow burn thing because of the age gap at the start. Also I think Suzanne made it fairly clear hayffie is not canon. BUT. Made it equally clear that Effie is a fundamentally good person and a character worthy of respect.

no but u don't understand. if anything sotr made hayffie that much more tragic. think of effie, eldest daughter trying to make herself invisible, but goes out of her way from helping her sister, by treating the tributes with respect, sending haymitch off to his games with dignity and a promise to deliver his token for him to his love.

think of effie, trying to hide within the shadows once haymitch won, not seeking credit nor attention for her part, but always within distance of his cage, always within a watchful eye in case anything goes wrong and there's anything she can do.

think of effie, who saw the way and how much haymitch loved and lost, knowing full well her desire to care for him is limited only to their meetings during the games every year, as they lose and lose more children to the games.

think of effie, always thinking of haymitch, quietly hoping against the capitol's teachings, that one day haymitch will get better and be okay, and maybe even open himself up for love once again.

think of effie, the capitol girl who rooted for the rascal, the escort who yearned for the lonely drunk.

they tried to flood the popular tags with gore and porn. this was when Homestuck was at its peak, so they were a target too. (side note: tags barely functioned at all at this point so trying to make them useless was like throwing a molotov into an already burning building but try telling that to 4channers)

but the Homestuck fandom was ready and countered by flooding the tag with weirder, more explicit Homestuck porn and gore.

to the point that the trolls themselves got weirded out, fucked off, and never attempted a “raid” again.

everyone moved on but I stayed there because that is one of the funniest fucking things to happen on this website.
