every period drama does this every period drama is a reflection of the fashion and social mores and values of the age it was produced in you are just living in the 2020s and can notice it everything is about the way we view the past at a certain moment of history this is completely universal throughout like all of history this is how the victorians made art about the middle ages like i agree lots of period dramas right now are sort of dumb but lots of period dramas have always been sort of dumb you just weren’t living at the time they were made but i promise if you think about it for five seconds those movies have the EXACT fashion and values of the year they were produced. whatever whatever i don’t care and also think movies are often bad or whatever but this isn’t a real problem. historical accuracy is a lie and everything is made to process the time we live in because that is our reality. the good movies will survive and the bad movies will be forgotten.
