Hickman’s favorite moment in his run was when queen Sue asked Ben what time it is and he said “Milady, ‘tis the clobbering hour.”
Tumblr media
I have to say, this is an awesome panel, an awesome line and a very cultured-looking monocle.

Mark Waid talked about his favorite moment writing Fantastic Four in today’s Marvel podcast. He said it was a page in his very first issue where Reed explained to infant Valeria why he called himself Mr. Fantastic and why he tried to make the F4 into celebrities. It was really about his (Reed’s) guilt.
I’ve read those particular panels so many times, they were my favorite or at least one of my favorites in the whole world comic books. I just went back and read them again. These two pages never failed to make me emotional.

In today’s “The Fantastic Four's Legacy in Marvel Comics” podcast, Ryan North talked about his favorite moment in his F4 run. And his answer was this:
Tumblr media
Reed and Sue using Braille to communicate.
I loved this panel so much. I remember being completely blown away when I first read it and completely falling in love with it.
One of my favorite moment in the podcast. If you haven’t watched it, please do! It’s a fantastic podcast with Jonathan Hickman, Ryan North, Mark Waid, and Chip Zdarsky talking about the Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four #32 made me appreciate Earth-616’s Fantastic Four even more. Spoilers below:
Seeing Franklin turn into a Maker-level only more powerful soul-devourer was horrifying. But one can’t blame Reed and Sue. They were only human. They loved their son and their world. So when faced with an existential threat, they had to ask a toddler Franklin to use his God-like powers. And then Franklin started editing them too, subconsciously or consciously making them what he wants them to be.
The universe always finds a way to survive, whatever the cost. Seeing this version of Franklin brings my mind to moments such as this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
where Ben gives comfort to Franklin who was just rescued from being trapped in hell. (Fantastic Four #502)
And here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adult Franklin telling Reed and Sue they did a perfect job as parents. (From FF #23)
In a world where the Fantastic Four don’t have their powers and don’t know the burdens and dangers that come with them, they couldn’t support Franklin the way he needs. And the whole world suffered.

I finished the Hickman Fantastic Four run. I had an amazing time reading it. It is one of my favorite reading experiences in my entire life, and I have not had such a great time reading anything for years now.
But right now I’m feeling a tremendous sense of loss. I’m sad that it’s over. I don’t want it to be over. I want the book to go on and on and on. I know that their journey continues, and I love the current F4 run. But I couldn’t help but feel that each run’s characterization and team dynamics are unique. And once a run ends, the toys get put back into their boxes, the characters begin anew, but not entirely as themselves; instead, it’s more like a rebirth, a regeneration.
And right now I’m not ready to box up these characters yet. I want to cling to them for just a bit longer.
I’ll go read the omnibus again.

I was supposed to be productive today, instead I spent all day on my phone, and it is all because of this man, Mr. Pedro Pascal, whose Cannes red carpet photos were so perfect, so sinfully beautiful, that I lost all my self discipline. These shots are going to live rent free in my head for as long as I live.

Ryan North held an AMA on Reddit today. I almost died of excitement when I’m I got word of it from the F4 subreddit. I ended up submitting a comment and he responded! I don’t have words to describe how happy I am right now.
I didn’t ask about F4 comics but other people did! This first one is my favorite:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that he sees Reed and Sue’s relationship as a rock and the heart of Marvel. Spread the word about Reed being PUDDLE DAD! I don’t know what it means but I love it.
North also reconfirmed that he is writing Reed as autistic. I wish Reed’s autism can get explicitly represented one day and his reply is giving me hope.
Tumblr media
Also a question about Franklin’s mutant status.
Tumblr media
Finally, someone asked about his dream character to write for, and he said Data from Star Trek! As a Trekkie and a huge Data fangirl, I’m through the roof.

I’m babbling too much. Anyway, seeing Ryan North on Reddit was awesome. What a wonderful day.

Of course they are going to do it again. And of course, the F4 anticipated this, since they are raising four adorable (chaotic) teens. Consider the stuff Jo and Nicki, Franklin and Val, especially Val have gotten up to, these space kids are tame. And they got rewarded for it — Ben is taking them to get Earth ice creams!

Reed truly mastered string power here. I wonder if Hooke’s law applies to him. He is elastic so I guess yes, but he can also manipulate his own stiffness during compression and elongation. So… 🤔

“You are the Deathmaster, right?” If I ever meet the F4 in real life, that’s the line I’m going to use.
❌Mr. Fantastic ✅Guy Stretchomatic! (What a terrible name, but so very Johnny).
Sue telling space kids that they are adorable is so very adorable. I love her so very much.

This F4/X-men FCBD comic issue is amazing!!! Everyone was adorable in the best way. I couldn’t keep a huge, goofy smile off my face the whole time I was reading it. (I was reading it in office.) And I aww-ed at the end too. I’ll post pictures tomorrow!!
Some (small) spoilers:
Johnny gave Reed a new name.
Space kids! Space slumber parties!
Another creative/wacky use of Reed’s power! Thank you Mr. North.
Sue is great with kids! Ben is great with kids!!
Kids being kids, albeit space kids.

I cannot, cannot get over how adorable they are. No matter how many times I look at this, my heart still races at its absolute cuteness.
